The One Who Came Back

Chapter 53 - The King is Dead, Long Live the King!

"I'M GOING TO KILL THOSE BASTARDS! I'M GOING TO RIP THEIR HEADS OFF, DESTROY THAT DAMN CITY!!!" The Supreme Being vociferated.

The walls of the Tomb seemed to reverberate with his hatred, spreading his words through the corridors. Those inside on this day smiled: demons, elves, icy beings, and undead. Everyone knew that war was imminent, and the only one not smiling was a very concerned human.

After the vacation in the elven kingdom, Ainz discovered who was responsible for manipulating Shalltear and her subsequent death.

Obviously, he was not pleased.

Inside Neuronist's torture chamber, Zesshi Zetsumei drifted in and out of consciousness. She didn't hear the screams and threats coming from the corridor. After being tortured and having her mind read, her body was exhausted, and memories came in flashes and vivid dreams:

...

"What happened? What is happening? I, I went to kill my father, Decem, that, the Elven King, I remember... I remember. I was walking through the corridors of the palace in Crescent Lake, heading to the throne room, the monster should be there, violating someone while their city burned, then I saw the dying elf crawling.

"YOU!" he shouted - "help me, take me to a tree, I need to get out of here, take the Elven Path away, come with me, we'll recover, then come back with a hundred children and crush these invaders..."

Someone had beaten the elven king to the point of soiling himself; I took off my helmet; he couldn't know who I was wearing the God's armor.

"COME ON, what are you waiting for? HELP ME!"

"He didn't recognize me, didn't know who I was, didn't know my hatred and suffering, he had no idea that I was his daughter.

I approached and kicked his balls; he flew down the corridor, falling far, rolling and crying, knelt and tried to hold onto what had been crushed, there was nothing left.

When I got closer, his head disappeared, no, it didn't disappear, it exploded, crushed by something; when his body fell, I saw, an elf holding a staff. "

"Mare! We wanted him alive!" shouted an elven boy who arrived.

"I-I'm sorry, I thought he would run away again."

"They must be Decem's children; they had eyes like mine, but the child had taken away my revenge, taken away my pleasure of seeing my mother's rapist killed by my hands, taken away from me all my reason to live."

"I'm going to kill you, you miserable little elf."

"Then I attacked, and attacked, and attacked more, threw everything I had at that child; she deflected everything, didn't even seem to be trying. "

"You're strong; if it were your little brother there, I might even have hope of marrying him if he defeated me."

"HEY! I'm a girl," said the child wearing pants; she was leaning against the wall casually, didn't care that her sister might die.

"It's a shame; we could have had beautiful and strong children."

"UGH! Disgusting! Mare, finish this quickly."

The girl started pressuring me. How could a staff be stronger than my scythe? I was beaten and cornered; I needed to use my trump card, death magic. The girl in boy's clothes went into a room, but before that, she spoke.

"Come on, Mare, finish it already; our lord is waiting for us."

"The child didn't run; she stood there, waiting for the attack. My magic hit her directly; nothing would survive that. She stood up, seemingly dead. I thought she was dead. When I approached, she moved, fast as lightning, hit me on the head. It hurt, hurt a lot; everything disappeared, everything hurts, my body hurts, where am I?"

...

Zesshi opened her eyes, but everything was blurry; one of her eyes was closed due to swelling, her ears were buzzing, and her head felt like it was going to explode. She couldn't feel her body anymore. Then the figure in front of her spoke, and the words finally made sense.

"Hello, welcome back." - someone said to her.

"I still have a job to do" - said a strange feminine voice.

"I know, Neuronist, but I ask you this favor; your service won't be harmed. From what Lord Ainz said, there's no hurry to conclude it, right?"

"No, but never put off till tomorrow what can torture today."

"Give me just five minutes with her; there's another battalion of prisoners going through your hands. Maybe you can reduce your workload."

"You still owe me that favor, dear."

"You're a sweetheart. How about next week?"

"Agreed, you have five minutes; I'll sharpen the probes and be right back."

Then a tentacled creature passed by, making Zesshi shudder.

"Cute, isn't it?" - said a blur standing in front of her – "Great personality, also a great professional. When she found out her skin was resistant to blades, she just looked for stronger things, tested your weaknesses, and "worked" on you for a long time. Now that you seem to have no more use, she'll move on to "differentiated" access points, insert probes that will tear you from the inside much more easily than from the outside, and then you'll die, slowly, very slowly. And if they want some new information, they'll resurrect you, and then they'll do it all over again unless you have something good, a good use."

Zesshi's vision then became clearer.

"I'll never give anything to anyone, you monster of shi... TW?!!"

"Hi, Tips."

"Wh-what, what are you doing here? How are you here, is this a dream? Am I delirious?"

"No, I'm really here. The story is long, and I have little time. I want to save your life... again."

"How are you alive? It's been decades, how?"

"It doesn't matter. Listen to me now. You're going to surrender; you're going to swear allegiance to the Sorcerer Kingdom and do everything they want. And then maybe you'll be happy, very happy."

"NEVER, THEY TORTURED ME!"

"I couldn't act sooner, but I know you've been through worse in the Theocracy. Don't come up with excuses; what they did to you doesn't even compare to what they will do if you don't listen to me.

"I will never bend. I swore it would only be to the one who defeated me, only the girl who killed Decem was stronger than me."

"Then you can imagine how much stronger the Sorcerer King is to have powerful servants like that."

"SHE IS A SERVANT OF THE SORCERER KING!!! H-how...? No matter, it wasn't him who defeated me; I will never swear allegiance."

"What if I told you that the one who defeated you was a boy?!"

"Where do I kneel! " Zesshi said abruptly.

...

Minutes later

Inside the throne room, the master of the Great Tomb of Nazarick resembled a green torch; his emotional suppressors worked continuously, perhaps only because of this that the Theocracy had not been swept from the face of the earth.

" ...I will not leave stone upon stone; I will erase that place completely. I will not let anyone remember they existed. They will pay for what they did to someone from my household."

"Wonderful, Ainz-Sama."

"As my beloved desires."

"Everything for Ainz-Sama-arinsu."

"I am. At. Your. Service. Master."

"We will do what Ainz-Sama wants, right, Mare."

"Y-yes, whatever Ainz-Sama wants."

"I don't think it's a good idea."

Most looked at TW with hatred; if there were a window there, he might have been thrown out of it.

"Do you dare to deny our lord's orders!" - Albedo said with hatred.

"By no means, I just think it's not the best strategy, and you know why."

"ARE YOU QUESTIONING YOUR MASTER'S WISDOM!"

"Lady Albedo, pointing out a problem might be the greatest declaration of loyalty to your master, especially when your life can be taken if you're wrong."

"Then you put your life in that statement".

"I always do, Lord Demiurge."

Ainz's glow seemed to diminish.

"Speak, Wild, while I still have patience."

"Yes, Ainz-Sama, I think it wouldn't be prudent for an attack now, not like this".

"Why?"

"I believe the reason you're using is wrong, and you must know that."

"DO YOU THINK AVENGING MY DEATH ISN'T JUSTIFICATION!!!" - Shalltear shouted.

"I'm sorry, Lady Shalltear, but no, it isn't, at least it shouldn't be."

"You only want to save those humans," the vampire said with tears in her eyes and pain in her words.

"No, I hate the place, most of them deserve to die for what they do, but what do you think the kingdoms will say?"

"Explain yourself, Wild."

"Yes, my lord," Wild had tried to message Ainz, but he was blocked. "What will the kingdoms think if we attack the Theocracy because they controlled the vampire Honyopenyoko, a dangerous vampire, a vampire that the hero Momon killed, a vampire that should not be connected to the Wizard Kingdom."

"They won't say anything, they will never know the reason and will fear us even more!"

"Then we will be the villains of the stories, Lady Shalltear, we will attack without reason and justify their fears and their union against THE WIZARD KINGDOM!"

"THEN WE WILL KILL THEM ALL!"

"AND YOUR MASTER WILL RULE A PILE OF ASHES!"

"SILENCE!!" the tomb master ordered. "You both are right, I won't let them go unpunished, but I will have to justify a war, a Casus belli."

"You already have two, if I may say, Ainz-Sama."

"I can guess which ones you're talking about, TW, but will it be enough?"

"I believe so, after all, they attacked an allied territory and tried to kill its King."

"They can deny knowledge of the facts, Wild."

"Ignorance is not an excuse, and besides, you have a witness in the torture chamber, in fact, she volunteered to deliver the message and swear loyalty to the tomb as a form of punishment and to serve directly the one who defeated her."

"Is she powerful, I mean, by the standards of this world?"

"Yes, Ainz-Sama."

"Is she reliable?"

"I'm sure you can trust her from now on; I put my life on it."

"Alright, bring her here; I want to hear this from her."

"Thank you for your understanding, Ainz-Sama," said Wild, leaving.

"Which ally did they attack?" Albedo asked.

"The Elven Kingdom, and they directly attacked the Elven king, I mean, the new Elven King," TW spoke, pointing to Mare.

"ME!!?" exclaimed the boy, surprised, as did almost everyone except Demiurge.

Moments later, TW returned to the room with Zesshi, who had been healed and was in her normal clothes and some of her belongings.

"Your Majesty, Lord Wild is back with the prisoner."

"Let them in, Foire."

TW entered followed by Zesshi, and as soon as Ainz saw her, his fury returned.

The elf was crushed to the ground by the murderous aura emitted, something like an immense psionic force.

Zesshi struggled. If she were in normal conditions, she might be able to move, but in her current state, she could barely breathe. With the energy of the impact, something jumped out of her clothes, a colorful cube that stopped at the foot of the stairs leading to the throne.

Pinned to the ground, she could barely see above the first steps. She only heard the steps of the Wizard King.

He was coming her way. No one moved. Then he stopped and picked up the colorful thing.

"You're lucky; in my fury, I could kill you with just a touch, but I see that you're just a curious and lost child," said Ainz as he mixed all the colors of the mysterious cube.

Zesshi could only see up to the bony hands that turned and twisted the pieces of the gods' gift. In six hundred years, no one had solved it. Zesshi had only managed to get two lines in the time she spent with it; now everything was in disarray.

After a few seconds, Ainz extinguished his aura.

"I think you need guidance," he said, crouching down and placing the solved cube on the ground.

"My God, Susharna," Zesshi mumbled as she looked at the cube and then at Ainz's face.

"You confuse me with your little god, but I am much greater than him. I am Ainz Ooal Gown, and you will serve me," Ainz spoke regally.

"Y-yes, my lord," said the half-elf, kneeling.

"You have a debt with me, with my kingdom, and with my subordinate Mare. Do you know what you did?" said the Supreme Being calmly.

"Yes! At the moment when the child... Lord Mare killed Decem Hougan, the Elven King, in combat, he rightfully became the new king. I attacked the new king indiscriminately, a perfidious act of aggression. My orders were to kill all Elven royalty if possible. Furthermore, the Theocracy battalion continued the attacks even after the death of the former ruler was announced. From what I know, they actually intensified their attacks, attempting to subjugate the kingdom until they were defeated and captured by Your Majesty's forces."

"Did TW instruct you to say this?"

"No, my lord, he only told me what happened after my defeat."

"He knows you, doesn't he?"

"Yes, and I believe that's why he wants to help me."

"Your life depends on him, and his is now in jeopardy. Do you understand?"

"Yes, Your Majesty."

"I will leave you under the orders of my servant Mare. You will serve him until he no longer desires it. In a week, you will go to the Theocracy and announce your end."

"Will everyone die?"

"Any problem with that?"

"No, my lord, not particularly."

"Great, if everything you do pleases me, I will accept your oath of loyalty. It is decided. Now, you may withdraw, and don't worry, Shalltear, you will have a place of honor at the end."

"Thank you, Ainz-Sama-arinsu."

"Thank you, Santa, for listening to me," TW said, finally getting a private message.

"Will you be able to do what you want in a week?"

"Yes, I think there will be time; everything will end on Susharna's day, what irony."

"This will serve to assess the extent of your luck. If everything goes well, I will let your friend live and go if she wishes."

"I don't think she could leave even if she could, after all, I believe she found what she was looking for," said TW, watching the half-elf glance at Mare from the corner of her eye, and how Aura seemed quite angry about it.
