Billy and Mandy's Digital Chronicles Chapter 1
For the past three years, Endsville has become a hot spot for paranormal and weirdness ever since Grim had become Billy and Mandy's friends by force, and has continued to do so, four years after Underfist was formed to finally combat the more malicious and downright evil paranormal. Billy, Mandy and the Endsville kids were all between fourteen to fifteen now, despite them being older, not much has overall changed.
It was a particular boring day in Endsville. As boring as it can get on a school day anyway, we find Billy and Mandy confronted with the teacher for their new high school. A bald man with a large grey moustache wearing a white t-shirt and blue jeans. He had a very stern, strict look to him.
Billy looked from left to right looking at the other students, ignoring the pop-quiz given to him. Mandy was reading a book she smuggled into class, she had finished her pop-quiz easily; Irwin had also finished his pop-quiz easily and he was staring straight ahead with his hands together, though when he thought people weren't looking, he turned to some papers to draw many pictures of him and Mandy being romantic, so many years later and being a part of Underfist, yet his blind love for Mandy is as persistent as ever.
Mindy was ignoring hers as she was sorting out her makeup, Sperg ate his and Pud'n and Nergal Junior were working on theirs but were having trouble, the same as the other students in the classroom. Billy soon turned his attention to his pop-quiz, which only had a few random doodles of pirate clowns with flamethrowers and cats on limousines driven by robot frogs.
Their teacher soon stood up and faced the classroom with a serious gruff look on his face. "Alright students… as you know, tomorrow is the school trip. All of you must be at the school at 6:30 sharp."
Irwin raised his hand. "AM or PM?"
"AM."
All the students looked shocked with an annoyed expression, same went for Mandy who kept the same evil look all day until now. "Hey, don't go complaining to me! It's not my idea to take you and two more classes to a camping trip. But look… you have to arrive at 6:30AM sharp, and bring enough clothes for two weeks, and some food if you feel like bringing some, we will have enough food for you there to last for a month either way… and once you get there, tell the teachers and staff about anything you might be allergic too, we don't want another accident. Class dismissed."
With that, the students packed their books and equipment, put them into their bags and made their way for the door. Billy, Mandy, and Irwin got into their usual line of three as they made their way back to their street.
"6:30AM… why so early?" moaned Billy.
"Maybe it's to have us experience the fun of long field trips." Said Irwin trying to sound optimistic.
"How can I do that when I'm asleep?"
Mandy chose to ignore Billy's complaining and Irwin's annoying chattering. She let out a quiet sigh, she had forgotten about the trip, she wasn't looking forward to spending two weeks in a campsite with all these annoying kids, but it had to be done, plus who knows, maybe some weirdness will make it interesting.
Billy and Mandy were walking home not long after Irwin left the group to his own house, though she was glad to be away from Irwin's tackles flirting, she was forced to listen to Billy's annoying rambles, changing subjects almost instantaneously, but she was thankful when she noticed her house, so she began to walk faster, and at that point, Billy drifted from her to head to his own house.
"See ya tomorrow Mandy."
"Yeah, see ya." Mandy responded in a bored tone.
About thirty minutes had passed and Mandy had been doing the same thing, she had been lying on her couch while changing channels, trying to find some show that'll interest her. But it was at that point, Grim came in and sat down on the far end of the couch and turned his head to her. She turned back to see a frown on Grim's face.
"Something bugging you, Bonehead?"
"Yes as a matter of fact!" Grim said deliberately. "Do you remember how many times I've told you or Billy to not go into me trunk?"
Mandy sighs. "Twenty-Four thousand, nine hundred and fifty-six exactly."
"Yep! And again! I find meself noticing stuff bein taken from me trunk!"
Mandy shrugs. "Well, it wasn't me, go interrogate Billy. After you've done my chores!" Grim huffs as he gets off the couch and leaves to do said chores, but soon Mandy turns to speak up again. "Wait." Grim stops to look at her. "Not that I actually care, but what was stolen this time?"
"Pandora's Box."
Mandy immediately lost her usual moody look to a shocked expression. "What!?"
"Yep! But we know whoever stole it hasn't opened it yet, de world hasn't ended yet." Grim begins to walk away again.
"Forget the chores!" Demanded Mandy. Grim stopped to turn to her again. "Go interrogate Billy, and if he doesn't have the box, then find who does!"
Grim smirks followed with a nod. "As you wish." He then materialises his scythe and teleports in a green smoke.
Mandy soon sat up on the couch, remembering everything about Pandora. The girl who went under the alias of Dora, who tricked Mandy into opening the box and almost destroyed the world, what infuriated her the most was that for the first time in so long, she felt she could trust someone and even believe she had a friend, more than Billy, but she simply used her. Out from all the supernatural incidents they had, Pandora was one she held the most resentment for.
But she knew one thing, if the box is ever opened and Pandora is free, she'll be the first to finally destroy Pandora and the box.
It was 6:15AM the next day. Everyone had arrived, but looked really tired which wasn't too surprising, all except Mandy who had an early night sleep. We find Billy, Mandy, and Irwin waiting at the bus stop, not far from them was Mindy, Sperg, Pud'n and Junior.
Billy quickly walked to the four. "So, what are you gonna do?" he said with a stupid grin slapped across his face.
Junior shrugged his shoulders. "Whatever we can do at a campsite I suppose."
Pud'n flinched. "Probably avoid all the bugs and smelly strangers like I did last time."
"Make every kid eat dirt!" Sperg then pointed to Billy. "Starting with you big nose!"
"That's none of your business loser!" scoffed Mindy as she rolled her eyes.
With that, Billy made his way back to Mandy and Irwin. "We're gonna have fun!"
"Yeah right." Said Mandy sarcastically.
"I know! Isn't it gonna be fun?" said the excited Irwin, oblivious to Mandy's sarcasm. He then leaned closer to her. "Best part is that you and I can get some alone time." He said trying to sound seductive but came out sounding nerdy. Mandy responded by punching Irwin in the stomach making him fall onto his knees.
Mandy ignored the kids laughing at Irwin, she was still thinking about the fact that Pandora's Box is still missing. Grim did an extremely thorough interrogation that lasted for four hours and still nothing, Billy wasn't the one who took the box, but she wondered who could've done it, and how would they have known the box was in Grim's Trunk.
As much as Mandy wanted Grim to be on this trip to make it more fun, finding the box was a higher priority, she told Grim to find it no matter what, and that's exactly what he intends to do.
After about fifteen minutes, the bus arrived, and all the students walked into it and got onto their chosen seats. Billy and Mandy sat next to each other, Irwin and Junior were behind Billy and Mandy, Sperg sat next to Pud'n on the opposite side, and Mindy sat with another popular girl at the far back. After a few minutes of safety instructions which no one listened to except for the nerds, the bus began to drive off.
Billy constantly talked to everyone he was near, Mandy just looked out the window ignoring Billy, Irwin was playing with his calculator, Mindy was fixing her makeup, Sperg was flexing his muscles, Pud'n was eating a chocolate bar, and Junior played on a portable console. Every other student was either talking, playing on electronic devices, or eating snacks.
As the bus drove along, Mandy turned to Billy. "Are you sure you didn't take Pandora's Box? Because I swear if you're lying, I will skin you alive!"
Billy panicked a little. "I-I swear I didn't! I didn't even know the box was in there! Please don't skin me alive! I need it for my eventual wedding!"
Mandy scoffs as she sits back and watches the scenery, as she watched it go by, nearly every second, she expected the sky to go green and see a pillar of light, but nothing of the sorts happened yet.
They are staying in a campsite called Mellow-Bone Park for two weeks, a campsite in the middle of an eerie forest with a large eerie lake with an eerie sky, the entire place was eerie, even the random man holding a sign saying, 'Eerie, isn't it?' looked eerie himself.
Soon they're approached by a tall slim nerdy guy with bottle-cap glasses and bad looking braces and a smile that's somehow annoying to look at. "Welcome to Mellow-Bone Park, the most glorious park in the world! I'll be your scoutmaster, Joe Shmitti! Shall we escort you to your cabins?"
The kids, one by one entered a cabin and it looked like a total mess, worn out and rotting flooring and boards, roaches scurrying about, broken windows, the beds look like they haven't been cleaned in months, every single part of it looked disgusting.
"I trust you'll find these LUXURIOUS rooms and beds to your liking. Of course, you do!" said the scoutmaster as he immediately closes the door before anyone could respond.
"These beds are DISGUSTING!" Shouted Mindy. "Not even zombies would wanna sleep in these."
"For once, you and I agree." Said Mandy bluntly as she got her sleeping bag out and placed it on the floor. As she ignored everyone else complaining, except Billy who was complimenting everything, she looked out the window, the paranoia of witnessing Pandora's Box open clouded her mind, times when she even thought she saw a pillar of light or the sky turning green but shrugged it off as her imagination.
It was day three of fourteen, and all the kids had done was tying nearly ripped ropes so they can actually do a Tug-o-war game without the rope ripping, listening to their scoutmaster playing a guitar terribly while singing camp songs awfully and picking up trash and dog leavings using nearly broken grabbers. Three days and still no sign of Pandora's Box being opened, she began to think that whoever stole it might have chosen not to open it, though she began to relax a little, she still anticipated the moment it would open. But she had to stop thinking about that since today, they were doing something different…
"Now then class" said the scoutmaster. "Today we will be taking the boats and travel around the lake for a good few hours."
Billy and Mandy simply looked down at the boats they were gonna use, there was enough for all of the students, but each boat had another one stuck next to them using wooden beams. So how it was going to work was that the students would have to use two boats at the same time, they could hold at least six, probably seven if one sat on the wooden beams.
"This looks like fun doesn't it?" asked Billy with a gleeful smile.
"No" said Mandy bluntly.
"Oh of course it will!" said the scoutmaster looking excited as he walked up to Mandy "Everyone loves boats!"
"Not me" said Mandy.
"Oh, you little joker" chuckled the scoutmaster as he walked off, not believing what Mandy said "Right class, let's get you into groups of seven and each take a boat. To help boost your cooperation and funness, I'll decide who goes with who."
"Crap" muttered Mandy, knowing this won't end well.
She was right, Billy and Mandy were teamed up with Irwin, Mindy, Sperg, Pud'n and Nergal Jr. Billy, Mandy and Junior took the left boat, Sperg, Irwin and Mindy took the right and Pud'n sat on the beams. Mandy let out an irritated sigh for having to be teamed up with kids she hated, namely Irwin and Mindy. Billy on the other hand looked excited as usual. Mandy looked to see Billy, Irwin and Junior brought backpacks with them what was in them was none of Mandy's concern.
"This is gonna rock!" said Billy.
"As long as I'm with my darling Mandy, I'm fine with any task ahead of us!" said Irwin as he gazed lovingly towards Mandy who simply rolled her eyes in disgust.
"I wonder why the boats are stuck together like this anyway?" asked Junior as he picked up one of the oars.
"I think it has something to do with the oars." said Pud'n as he tried to get comfortable on the wooden beams. "I think the scoutmaster said something about not being enough of them."
"Given the crappiness of this place, it makes sense." muttered Mandy as she looked around.
"This rotting wood and filthy water would do horrible for my beautiful looks." groaned Mindy as she looked at the oar she had to pick up. "Do they seriously expect me to even touch this rotting thing, it's disgusting! And Physical labour is not for a princess like me to do!"
"Fine, I'll take it" said Sperg as he picked up the oar, he and Mindy soon got up and swapped places causing the boats to rock slightly.
"C-Careful!" said Pud'n.
"Alright students!" shouted the scoutmaster on a megaphone, "Your task is to simply follow my boat across the river, try to keep up and don't take any other paths… there are several smaller rivers that break up into multiple pathways, only take the one I go through as the rest are dangerous. Alright kids, let's begin."
With that, the kids began to row their boats following the scoutmaster who sat on the middle as two other scouts rowed his boat. Junior and Sperg began to row as well, somewhat uncoordinated but they still managed to row forward in the back of the group. Mandy simply sat with one elbow on her knee keeping her head up feeling bored, she hated boat rides, and if that wasn't enough, the foul smell of the water kept going up Mandy's nose, Billy seemed alright by this, but he and Sperg were the only ones who were unfazed, being idiots who enjoyed the smell of garbage, it made sense.
Ten minutes had passed and nothing out of the ordinary happened, Billy looked around feeling excited, Mandy leaned back feeling bored, Irwin kept staring at the water wondering how much mess could get into it, Mindy kept her arms and legs to herself not wanting to touch any more of the rotting wood than she already has, she also gave off small screams whenever the water splashed upward, Sperg was quietly humming to himself, he enjoyed doing the heavy work, Pud'n looked around tapping his hands gently on his knees, he seemed bored too but he didn't look it, Junior leaned back relaxing a little letting the tentacles on his back do the rowing.
Mandy soon had a feeling something or someone was staring at her, she looked over to her right and saw someone peering through the trees.
This figure looked to have been a six-foot eleven inches tall man wearing a thick dark blue coat, a black cloth cap, he wore a scarf that covered his face, and a pair of sunglasses to cover his eyes, literally no facial features could be seen, and this unusually tall lanky man looked to have been staring daggers at Mandy. Though she hardly felt intimidated by him, she still kept an eye on him just in case he tried anything, and the man soon began to walk alongside the boat to continue staring. But after what felt like five minutes of an intense stare down, he eventually stopped walking as the boat began to drift further and further from him.
Mandy had no idea who or what he was, but she simply shrugged looked back to facing forward. No one else had noticed him, and Mandy decided not to speak up about it.
About fifteen minutes of the same boring stuff from before, they all looked to see a bunch of branching rivers like the scoutmaster mentioned earlier, they saw the one river the scoutmaster and the other students went through, Mandy soon thought of something, the other rivers were more dangerous according to the scoutmaster, but there was one river with clear blue water, completely clean. Whether or not it was dangerous, it would be more interesting or at least more enjoyable if they went into that river. "Let's go down that one" said Mandy as she pointed to the cleaner river.
Pud'n looked towards Mandy "But the scoutmaster said-"
"Forget what he said" Mandy interrupted. "Would you rather follow that idiot through more disgusting water, or would you rather go through a cleaner and possibly more interesting river?"
The others looked towards the cleaner part of the river, but what interested them the most was that the river was indeed attached to the main polluted river, but none of the mess went through that branching part at all. It didn't make sense, but soon the others agreed to go there, so Junior and Sperg finally done some real cooperation and coordination and turned the boat towards the cleaner river.
"The cleaner water will do so much more for my skin and beauty anyway" said Mindy. But once the boat touched the cleaner river, the boat was suddenly moving by itself going through the river without the oars to guide it.
"W-We're not doing that!" said Junior as he tried to stop the boat by rowing backwards, Sperg did the same but there was a sudden shake, and the oars were somehow flown out of their hands and went into the river going backwards.
Mandy raised an eyebrow as she looked at the oars slowly going back to the polluted part. Something of the supernatural must be in this water, no other logical explanation came to her mind. Then she simply leaned back again "Meh, might as well go where the river wants us to go."
Twenty minutes had passed now, and everyone seemed at peace, the breeze was gentle, the sun was warm, everywhere was nice and quiet, the plants looked full of life compared to the ones back at camp, the river was crystal clear, everything was perfect. All everyone did was simply lean back, eyes closed and let the boat do the moving for them, Mandy was even starting to enjoy the peace and quiet, despite the paranoia of Pandora's Box being opened some day. But soon the peace and quiet was broken when everyone heard a clicking sound, they all opened their eyes and sat up to see Irwin using his laptop in which he took out of his backpack.
"Had to ruin it didn't you, Loser?" said Mindy as she glared at Irwin.
"S-Sorry" said Irwin nervously, but he soon turned his laptop around to show everyone what was on screen showing a map "But I've been looking up on the map of the entire bit of land we're in, this river isn't on any of the maps."
"Maybe they made a mistake?" asked Pud'n.
"Who cares?" asked Mandy.
"Yeah, who cares?" said Sperg agreeing with Mandy.
Irwin looked back at his laptop and then just closed it "Maybe it is a glitch or something."
"Well! I say we should celebrate!" said Billy as he took off his backpack and placed it in between him, Mandy, and Junior, he opened it to reveal several cans of soda.
"Smooth move" said Mandy, for once she felt that Billy did something good. Billy then handed everyone a can of soda in which they all opened it at the same time.
"I hereby say we should name this river something and claim it for ourselves" said Pud'n.
"Like?" asked Junior.
"How about Freedom River?" asked Irwin "We were free from the shackles of camp rules in this place."
"Freedom River it is!" said Billy.
"To Freedom River" said everyone except Mandy, but they all tapped their cans together, Mandy did do this at least except Pud'n who was a little too far to do it since he still sat on the wooden beams, but he did raise his can in the air.
Mandy was about to take a sip, but something didn't feel right, she felt something disturbing in the air, so she moved her can away from her and began to look around. "Something's not right." she muttered, the others heard her and looked around.
She was right, everything seems different, the grass around the river was much longer, the trees got larger and thicker and there was an unusual faint fog inside the forests, but what was also strange was that there was no life at all, no little rabbits or insects like earlier, Mandy looked down to see the water was still crystal clear, but there were no fishes, nor any form of plant-life underneath. Almost as if all life has either fled or disappeared.
"This river's cursed." said Mandy, "It makes sense now, why it wasn't on the maps."
"C-Cursed?!" asked Irwin feeling panicked.
The fog was starting to get thicker, but the river and forests were still visible. Mandy leaned back and took a sip of her soda feeling calm "Still better than going with that stupid scoutmaster."
"W-What do we do?" asked Billy.
"So far nothing" said Mandy "This boat's moving by itself, and we have no oars… might as well just keep calm." Although Mandy said that, she couldn't help but wonder if this is somehow connected to Pandora's Box or just a coincidence.
Ten more minutes passed, and everyone felt uneasy, the strong silence and thick fogs surrounded all of them, Mandy seemed the calmest, but that was because she was very used to this kind of stuff. While they all felt uneasy, they all knew this was better than being bored at the stupid camp site with their annoying scoutmaster.
Sperg soon notices something and points forward. "LAND HO!"
Both Mandy and Mindy look at him. "What'd you call me!?" they said at the same time. But then everyone looked to see there was an island up ahead, but it was just an island full of trees and large bushes, it looked as if no one has inhabited this island ever. The boat soon pushed itself onto the island's edge and stopped.
"Guess this is our stop." Said Mandy, she kept her usual glum look but there was definitely a side of caution to her as well. She and the others soon stepped out of the boat and went onto this land, Billy, Irwin, and Junior took longer as they had to get their backpacks.
The seven kids all looked around, as far as they can all see, it's just dense woods, large bushes and an eerie looking fog that persisted everywhere.
"T-T-This is really spooky!" said Irwin as he was shivering in fear.
"W-Where are we!?" asked Pud'n looking just as scared.
"Beats me. But if the boats brought us here, we might as well look around." Said Mandy calmly but cautiously.
"No! NO WAY!" Shouted Mindy. "If you think I'm gonna follow a loser like you, then you've got another thing coming, we're gonna go back to the boat and-"
CRAAAA-AAACK!
Everyone was startled by the intense loud noise; they turned around to see that the boats have suddenly been split apart into several chunks of wood and splinters. No idea how it could've happened, and it happened so quickly.
"I'm guessing whatever wants us here, doesn't want us to leave so soon." Said Mandy, directing it at Mindy who was shivering in fear even more now. "C'mon, let's just find out what evil force wants us to see." She then proceeded to walk forward with the others following.
Mindy however stayed behind to get a closer look at the boat, seeing it smashed to smithereens so instantly. Her fear gave way to curiosity however as she noticed something floating in the water, and it definitely wasn't there before.
She scooped her hand into the water to pull it out, to her surprise, it was a piece of cloth, the kind used for bandages, but why was this here, she thought.
"Is this… Irwin's?"
Against her better judgement, she wrings out the cloth and places it in a small bag she keeps strapped to her hip, and quickly catches up with the others. She wasn't sure why she needed to do so, it just felt like it could be useful later.
Another twenty minutes pass and what the kids saw was unlike anything they were expecting.
It was a train. And not just a model train, but a real one, a steam train at that. It was difficult to process, but standing right in front of them, just a few yards away, was a real life steam engine, it was clean, nicely polished, but clearly abandoned, and had two carriages attached to the back, but they weren't sure what baffled them more, the fact that this train is just sitting in the field in the middle of nowhere, clean and well taken care of despite no one or nothing being around for miles, or the fact that it's right in the middle of the field, as in, there are no tracks for it to sit on, in addition, there are trees blocking the front and back of it, there was no way this train could've gotten here, and yet here it is.
"This… ok! This is getting really freaky now!" Sperg shouted.
"Everything about tonight has been extremely unsettling." Said Junior looking at Sperg, then he looks back to the train. "But this takes the cake and eats it too."
Mandy sighed. "Reckon this is what whatever sent us here wanted us to see?"
"Maybe?" said Billy. "It looks like fun! Do we get to drive it?"
"It's… not on any rails so I don't think so?" said Pud'n.
"L-Let's just get this over with!" said Mindy as she started shoving Mandy towards the train, volunteering her to go first, which she moves on her own anyway.
As they make their way to the train, one by one they entered the train's first carriage through the only open door. Irwin was the last to enter, he closed the carriage door and pressed the lock button. For some reason, it just made him feel safer, no one else seemed to notice her doing this, however.
The carriage itself was spacious, with several chairs and chairs with large tables, racks on the top for putting luggage in, the works. It all looked exactly like the old style of trains from the industrial era, looking hundreds of years old, yet firmly polished and well kept, the strangest part was that even some of the wood had that smell that implies they're brand new. Despite this, there's no sign of anyone in here. Everyone looked carefully around, but nothing out of the ordinary in this already out of the ordinary scenario.
"Nothing… now what?" Junior asked.
Suddenly the speakers on the corner of the ceilings began to blare to life as a haunting voice began to sing.
I've been workin' on the railroad,
All the live long day.
"W-What's that!?" said Mindy who was freaking out big time now.
I've been workin' on the railroad,
Just to pass the time away.
"A G-G-G-G-ZOMBIE!?" Stuttered Irwin.
"NO! A G-G-G-G-WEREWOLF!" Stuttered Sperg.
Can't you hear the whistle blowing?
Rise up so early in the morn.
"I wonder if he knows the Muffin Man song?" asked Billy.
Can't you hear the captain shoutin'
"Dinah, blow your horn?"
Mandy looks up to the speakers, then realises that those voices coming from there means someone's speaking into them, in the train itself. She then points to the door leading towards the front of the train.
"In there."
Dinah, won't you blow,
Dinah, won't you blow,
Dinah, won't you blow your ho-oo-orn?
The gang slowly made their way towards the door, Mandy of course taking the lead.
Dinah, won't you blow,
Dinah, won't you blow,
Dinah, won't you blow your horn?
Mandy slowly opens the door to see the front of the train. It was relatively spacious, there was a table on one end with a small wooden chair, the various cranks, and levers one would expect, and finally, there was a dried up, unlit furnace in the dead centre. Mandy wasn't familiar with her train knowledge, but he knew enough to know that's where they shovelled coal to make the train move.
There was a single door to the left that had a lone window, and the front had two windows where the driver would see out of, all of them had thick glass on them, which while it meant it was quite stuffy, it also meant it kept the cold air and rain out, if it wasn't for the suspenseful and unnerving events that led here, one might consider this place to be cosy.
Someone's in the kitchen with Dinah.
Someone's in the kitchen, I kno-oo-ow.
But in the very front, standing in front of the controls was a six-foot tall man in a dark coat, but Mandy felt genuinely surprised, it wasn't just any man, it was the exact same man she saw at the river. And he was the one singing as he swayed from side to side gently.
Someone's in the kitchen with Dinah.
Strumming on the old banjo.
"Who is that?" whispered Pud'n.
"I don't know." Said Junior.
Fee, fie, fiddle-e-i-o.
Fee, fie, fiddle-e-i-o-o-o-o.
Fee, fie, fiddle-e-i-o.
Strumming on… the old… banjoo-oo-oooo.
This man stopped singing and slowly turned to face them in an eerie way.
Mandy stepped forward with no trace of fear in her. "It's you, isn't it? You're the one who brought us here, didn't you?"
The man then slowly turned his entire body to face them properly. He kept silent, and despite his entire face being covered, she could somehow tell he was smirking.
"So, what gives? You like kidnapping kids and singing to them or something?" Mandy asked again, getting more annoyed.
"Yeah, you could at least sing better." Said Sperg.
The man continued to stare, silently. It was as if he was waiting for something. Mandy simply growled in frustration.
"Look! You better say something! Or else I'm gonna have to beat it out of you!"
Soon, the man laughed eerily as he slowly reached out for a long metal lever. "You want me to say something?" he said in a deep and ominous voice.
"How about… ALL ABOARD!"
He pulled the lever down quickly. The moment he did, the entire train lit up in a bright blinding light, the furnace suddenly erupted in flames and the train was beginning to rock back and forth, the whistle blowing loudly, it was then that they discovered, the train was moving.
"What the!? We're moving!?" shouted Sperg.
Mandy looked out the window to see the train was indeed moving, she wasn't sure how but didn't care, she just turned back to the man preparing her fists. "So where are you taking us?"
"You'll find out soon enough." Said the man. He then dug into his coat and pulled something out, this took Mandy by absolute shock. It was a purple box with a skull on the front, and a handle at the top. It was Pandora's Box.
"Y-You stole Pandora's Box!?" everyone else looked shocked, remembering what happened last time it opened, Billy was the only one not scared, remembering the fun time he had eating and flying around.
"Sure did, you made it so easy. And don't worry, when I open it, only one of you will live to witness it!"
"LIKE HELL!" Mandy ran and jumped readying to punch the man.
But the man suddenly shot his free hand up and caught her by the waist, then he just as quickly threw Mandy over the other kids landing on the floor in the first carriage. Mandy growled reading to get back up, but she realised she couldn't.
"W-What the hell!?" she exclaimed, realising her upper half had been tied up by several bandages.
Mindy turned to see Mandy in this state, and her blood ran cold, she dug into her bag and pulled out the cloth she picked up from the water. Then immediately turned to the man. "It's YOU! You were the one who dragged our boat here!?"
The man tilted his head and chuckled to himself. "Very observant of you! You all thought it was a curse, but I was simply walking under your boat guiding it, I'm surprised you never questioned it once."
"Are you come kind of Mummy too!?" exclaimed Junior.
"YOU WON'T HARM MANDY YOU MUMMY KNOCK OFF!" Irwin shouted and in a bright light, he transformed into his Mummy-Vampire Hybrid Form and flew towards the man.
The man, startled, he threw his hand out to catch Irwin too, but struggled to push him back, the bandages began to creep out of the man's sleeve, but it couldn't get a grip on Irwin due to his own bandages blocking his.
The man quickly put Pandora's Box down on the console, dug into his pocket and pulled out a decorated knife. Irwin prepared to shoot a black ball of light from his hand until the man suddenly plunged the knife into Irwin's stomach, Irwin fell into shock as his body seized up, and everyone looking had a shocked looks to his face. Except Mandy who struggled to get the bandages off her in the carriage, not seeing what he's going through.
The man then threw Irwin over the kids and into the carriage, he quickly changed back into his human form as he landed next to Mandy unconscious. Mandy finally noticing Irwin's knife wound in his stomach.
"Shit…"
The other kids look back at Mandy and Irwin, but suddenly, more bandages flew out of the man's sleeves, each grabbing the other kids by the waist or legs and throwing them out of the train and into the carriage with Mandy and Irwin.
As the other kids quickly got up, they noticed the man slamming the door shut, quickly followed by the train shaking violently as it picked up speed.
"Irwin! Are you ok!?" shouted Pud'n as he tried to shake him awake.
"Someone, get these bandages off me!" shouted Mandy, with Junior and Sperg complying.
Mindy tried to get her composure, but it was difficult with the violent shaking, but became horrified to look out the window, giving a loud shriek getting everyone else's attention. Out the window, they could see the world around them was different, there were in a blue and white vortex with bright squares passing by. Everything looked almost pixel-like outside the train.
Once Sperg and Junior got the bandages off Mandy, she quickly jumped up and dashed towards the door, trying to open it. "OPEN DAMNIT!"
Mandy then kicks the door as hard as she could, leaving a massive dent, she felt a small degree of satisfaction, knowing two or three more kicks will break the door down, and then he can take on this strange mummy man. But to her surprise, the door suddenly popped back into place, looking good as new, Mandy's surprised turned anger as she looked up at the window, to see the man's concealed face. All Mandy did was glare at him with her death stare, but to her surprise, the man soon took off his glasses and scarf.
There, his face was fully revealed, and his skin was a rotting grey colour, complete with wrinkles, a wide crooked smile with razor sharp teeth, and he had a bandage going across his face horizontally, covering his nose, as well as bandages that covered his right eye, some were loosely hanging off his face, and his other eye was a menacing yellow with pitch blackness around his eye socket.
This monstrous face of a man began to laugh maniacally, Mandy wasn't fazed by his hideous face, but just from a glance, she could tell this 'man' was clearly psychotic in every way, and possibly even more dangerous than he lead on.
"ENJOY THE RIDE KIDDIES!"
Suddenly there was a massive tremor, as things went from bad to worse. Mandy saw that the train had detached itself from the carriage as it began to drift further and further away, leaving an open hole where the carriage door was, fully witnessing the blue and white vortex, as well as a massive gale being pushed out of the carriage, as it she was being sucked out of the carriage, it wasn't strong enough to do it, but strong enough for her needing to brace herself.
As she witnessed the train slowly disappearing from sight, she could hear the man's maniacal laughter from here, but grew more concerned over that she lost Pandora's Box, and the fact that she could see the train slowly drifting upwards as it made it's escape. But she soon realised the train wasn't drifting up, the carriage was falling. More evident when she felt her feet slowly being lifted off the ground.
It didn't take long for the others to realise what was happening, and with Irwin still unconscious at that. Junior threw out as many of his tentacles from his back as he could, revealing about fifty of them, they reached out to everyone, holding them by their waists and keeping them planted firmly on the ground, the remaining tentacles clung onto everything they possibly could, walls, floor, chairs, ceiling, the lot. His tentacles even began to spread along the walls, trying to cover everything like producing a shield.
Mandy soon realised what Junior was doing, he was trying to shield everyone from the impact. She had no idea when it was going to happen, but she knew it was going to happen. With a tentacle around her waist, she quickly ran back to the other kids.
"BRACE FOR IMPACT!" She shouted at the top of her lungs, throwing herself into a ball, the others quickly following, just in time as the carriage's speed began to accelerate to a violent degree, shaking much more as the carriage's windows began to crack in several places.
Where they were going and when they would land, they wouldn't know.
End of Chapter
So, I think one of the biggest reasons why my fanfictions keep failing, in my eyes anyway, is that I take too much time preparing and planning every detail, and I always try to make them far too complex and sophisticated for their own good. So, this is different, I'm actually making it up as I go along, I don't have any idea where this is gonna go, or what it's gonna be like. And to be honest, I think I'm gonna enjoy it more.
In fact, it's pretty obvious it's a Digimon crossover, I haven't even decided what Digimon Partners the kids are gonna have. If anyone wants to suggest any, go right for it, you don't have to suggest Rookie levels either, it can be anything, and I'll find the appropriate Digivolution path for them.
Obviously some exceptions like "Legendary" Digimon like Sovereigns or ones that are designed to only be one of.
Either way I hope you enjoy this weird crossover, truth be told I've been feeling extremely nostalgic as of late ever since I approached my thirties, and a Billy and Mandy/Digimon Crossover has been something I attempted in the past.
So yeah, if you wanna suggest potential Digimon partners, or ideas for scenes in general, lemme know and I'll see what I can do, either way it's being made up as I go along so even I don't know where this is gonna go.
And for those who still want a Digimon Tamers: Rika's AU remake or reimagining of some kind, I'm actually planning to do it in the form of a comic over on my DeviantART Profile, it won't be until January however, so you have time to wait.
