The Land before Time Fan fiction : Prehistoric Growing Pains Chapter One

Long time ago in the prehistoric age where dinosaurs roamed. It was the Jurassic period, millions years ago. It was wet, warm climate with lush vegetation and a lot of living things. Tree-like plans, conifers and tree ferns were plentiful around the many places dinosaurs roamed. It was a dangerous mountainous land. Giant comical volcanos smoked while bumbling, smelly hot springs boiled. " Blomp Blomp ." A young brontosaur called Little foot and his mother are eating tasty grasses with their longneck herd in nearby grasslike fern meadows, not unlike the grasses found on the savannas and forests. Everything was peaceful until a roar came from the mountains above. Earth shakers occasionally rattled the lands before time. It felt like a soft movement beneath the large dinosaurs' feet. A land slide started to fall under their feet. Rocks and mounds of dirt were falling down the mountainside towards the meadow where Little foot and his mother were grazing. A huge group of sharp teeth dinosaurs charged towards Little foot, his mother's herd.

The sizable pack of fast biters were running towards Little foot in a stampede panic. It was like they were being chased by something. What could scared this large pack of sharp teeth? They seemed to be running for their lives. Soon, Little foot's herd noticed the sharp teeth approaching. This also started the longnecks' herd to stampede. Before long, fast biters and long necks were running in terror. The rocks had catch up with some of the fast runners, pelting them furiously. Little foot ran in terror trying to avoid the stampede. His mother quickly grabbed him and safety put him on a nearby rock ledge out of harm's way. Little foot watched his mother fall into mass of predators and prey fleeing from the danger. In a few minutes, it was all over. The whole area was covered with dirt, rocks, and dead dinosaurs. Little foot slowly came down from the rocks ledge to see what happened to this mother. He went searching for his mother.

"Mother!" He found her on the ground bleeding and moaning in pain.

"Little foot !"

"Yes, Mother," He went to her.

You must find the Great Valley. By being devoted to yourself, your family and your friends by preserving the Great Valley for all. You will be the Great Valley's only hope. You must be the valley's protector at all cost. If you neglect it, all will be lost. You will save the Great Valley from all threats it encounters. Promise me, you will protect the Great Valley for as long as you live.

Yes, Mother, I promise.

She, then died in front of Little foot.

He signed. His eyes filled with tears as he stared at his dead parent. Why did this happened to him? Why go through this pain ? He wondered as he remained focus on his dead mother. Would there other young ones in later years who would suffer like this?

A scene goes into his mind. He sees a young, brown, furry creature that has long, strong legs, long ears, and little brown tail with white fur underneath. It was covered with white spots all over its back. Its nose was a black pudgy snout. It had two big, black, deep pebble eyes with long black eyelashes. The little brown fawn was crying aloud. Mother, where are you, Mother? He darted back and forth frantically all over the forest.

Little foot shook his head. Another vision entered his mind. A herd of black horned animals were stampeding from some ugly, spotted, mud colored, black maned animals that limped while they closed the horned animals into a canyon. A young tawny creature with big teeth and large feet was running scared with the stampede like Little foot had been. A look of terror was on its face as it ran in terror. An adult large tawny animal with a dark brown mane rushed in to save it. The adult swooped the cub into his mouth and quickly put on a rock ledge just as Little foot's mother had done to him. The adult male fell into the raging herd as the young thing watched on. As soon as the stampede started, it was over, the young one went to find its father. He found a dead body on the dirt.

Dad, Come on, You gotta get up! Dad, we gotta go home. The young one's father was dead as Little foot's mother. Little foot shocked his head again to clear his mind of the vision. Little foot walked off to find his grandparents. To be continued in Chapter two.
