~Tenebris' POV~

I was on the school roof waiting for Ichigo and Rukia. They were in the principal's office for what happened last night. I sighed at just the thought of it. What happened was that Don Kanonji was in town and our family wanted to go see him. Well, more like Yuzu and dad did, Karin, Ichigo and myself had no desire to go, but we did anyway for them.

Anyway, after the man had shown up from jumping out of a helicopter, things got really interesting. There really was a ghost bound to the hospital the show was taking place at, but that part wasn't the interesting part though. What was interesting was that Don Kanonji could really see spirits. I thought he was just full of himself this whole time.

Rukia told Ichigo and I about what kind of spirit the ghost was, and that he wasn't even close to becoming a hollow yet. Just as she was saying that as long as the hole in the chest wasn't forcefully opened, then everything would be fine, the fool Kanonji started messing with that very same hole.

Ichigo tried to stop him, only to get caught by security - same with Rukia. She had tried to get Ichigo out of his body, but that ended badly. It was only thanks to the stripped hat-wearing man that Ichigo was taken out of his body and was able to stop Don from doing any more damage, but he was too late. The spirit became a hollow, and Don thought that the creature was the ghost's boss or something.

Throughout the whole thing I sat back and watched. It was, in my opinion, the best Spirit Hunter episode ever. It was funny watching Ichigo throw Don around like a rag doll, and then dragged into the hospital. It was a smart move on Ichi's part, since it would be far too dangerous to fight a hollow outside with so many people around.

I was able to find them on the roof later and watch as Ichigo got caught by the hollow's spit. It was thanks to Don - shocker alert - that Ichigo was freed from the sticky stuff. It was the slowest ball of energy I have ever seen, but it was effective; a lot more than I had thought was possible from the man. It was strong enough to cause a small explosion.

Ichigo was freed and he was able to slay the hollow. That was when the annoying man noticed me. He was about to come after me next, but Ichi stopped him and told him that I was his partner in hunting hollows. He didn't bother telling Don about me being Ichi's soul sister, since we were sure the man wouldn't be able to understand what that was and we didn't want to explain.

Although, in the end of that whole chaos, Don thanked Ichigo and made him his number one pupil. The look on Ichi's face was the funniest thing I had seen in a long time. I started laughing again at just the thought of it.

"What's so funny, Tenebris?" I heard Ichigo ask from behind me. I turned to see him with Rukia, and so I told him what I was thinking about while waiting for them.

"I was just remembering what happened last night, Don Kanonji's number one pupil," I said teasingly, earning me a growl of pure annoyance from my soul brother.

"That was funny, but that man was a fool," said Rukia. "I hope he learned his lesson for next time he tries to mess with a spirit."

"Same, because if he didn't, I might just feed him to a hollow," I said.

"I hope you're joking," said Rukia in surprise.

"She might not be," said Ichigo. "There are times I wish I could do that." He sighed. "We don't do it, however, because it's wrong."

"If Don Kanonji was really a bad man, and no one would miss him, I would kill him, but he is just annoying. Not a good enough reason to kill him," I said with a sigh of my own.

"Well, let's hope he doesn't do anything bad then," said Rukia.

"Let's also stop talking about that man. I had enough of him to last me ten life times," said Ichi with a groan.

"I agree," I pitched in.

I was reading one of my favorite books when Rukia's soul pager went off. I felt a slight twitch of annoyance for two reasons. One: I'm at a good part of the story, and two, I can't read when others are talking. I have a hard time blocking them out.

"We'll be back, Tenebris," said Ichigo, who was already out of his body and by the window.

"Alright, happy hunting," I replied and watched as both shinigami left the house. Once they were gone, I went back to my book.

When I finished the chapter I was reading and also the next one, Ichigo and Rukia returned. I looked up and saw an irritated look on my soul brother's face.

"Did something happen?" I asked.

"This isn't the first time this happened, but the hollow was already killed again by the time we got there," Ichigo said. "I finally found out who had been killing them." This bit of information caught my attention.

"Oh…?"

"It was a guy that says he's a quincy. His name is… his name is… um…"

I tilted my head. There are only three quincies in this town and Ichigo was one of them. It couldn't be the other one, for he doesn't care about the hollows all that much. So that left only one. "Uryu Ishida?" I asked.

"YEAH, THAT'S IT!" Ichigo exclaimed, but I'm waiting for it to dawn on him what I said. I saw the realization form on his face not long after. "Wait… How do you know him?!" he demanded.

I shrugged. "I met him the other night when I went to kill a hollow. I needed to hunt that night, remember?" Ichigo nodded his head, remembering that night. "He tried to kill me at first, but I pinned him down and got him to stop. I did tell him about you though. I told him if he wanted to know more about what's going on, to go to you if he couldn't find me."

"He didn't come to me for such a thing. He just said that quincies and shinigami are enemies, making me his enemy."

'Does he not remember what I told him? I'll have to talk to that child later,' I thought. "Well, he isn't wrong about quincies and shinigami, but the two of you… I need to have words with him. Let's meet him tomorrow after school. I would like to talk to him," I said.

"I was going to confront him anyway," Ichigo said in his hot-headed like manner. I rolled my eyes, got up, and put my book away for tonight.

"What do you know about quincies, Tenebris?" asked Rukia.

I stared at Rukia for a few seconds, trying to think of what to say. "Not much. Most of what I know I got from an old Quincy." This isn't a lie. I did get it from an old quincy, but that guy is one half of Ichigo's Zanpakuto. "There was a war that happened years ago between shinigami and quincies. The Head Captain of the shinigami, who I believe is still the same, fought with the king of the quincies. It was a close battle, but the Head Captain won."

"He killed the king?" Rukia asked.

I shook my head. "No, there is a lullaby that speaks of the king's return. I forget how it goes, but I could ask the old man."

"I don't think that's important right now. So the king isn't dead, and is said to return… Has it happened yet?" she asked.

"Not that I know of. I think it was supposed to happen after a 1,000 years had gone by, which would be around now. I don't know if he's already awake, or still sleeping and in the progress of waking," I replied.

"He is still sleeping," said Zangetsu. "But any year now, he will awaken."

{Thank you, Zangetsu,} I said, watching Ichigo's face gain a relieved expression. We both had heard stories of the king of quincies from him. So we know how strong he is and have no desire to meet him yet. "I think we should go to bed now. Goodnight," I said as I curl up in my nest of blankets on the floor.

"Goodnight," I heard both Ichigo and Rukia say as they too got ready for bed.

I watched as Ichigo followed Uryu around all day, only to be called out on the stone stairs. It wasn't surprising, since I could sense my soul brother from miles away.

I was sitting on the wall next to them, watching their exchange. It seems that Uryu wishes to prove that quincies were better than shinigami. I tilted my head to the side in confusion. 'Why does it seem that Uryu doesn't remember that Ichi is part quincy?' I asked myself. I decided to voice my thoughts, scaring the heck out of the two boys.

"Tenebris, when did you get there?" Ichigo asked. "Also, you're lucky Rukia isn't here right now. She doesn't need to know about me being a quincy too."

I roll my eyes. "I know, Zangetsu told us to not let the shinigami know about your bloodline. I am asking this question now knowing Rukia is at hat-n-clogs." I turn my red eyes back to Uryu. "So did you forget I said that, or did you miss it?" I asked again.

"Actually, I did catch it. I went to my father that night to confirm it, and found out we were cousins; however, Ichigo Kurosaki is playing for the shinigami and not the quincy. He may have the blood of one, but if he chooses to be one of the enemy, then I shall treat him as such," Uryu said while pushing up his glasses.

I smacked myself with my paw when I heard this. "That doesn't make any sense. You're treating him like the enemy, even though he isn't with the shinigami. We both know what soul society is like, Uryu Ishida. If they were to find out what Ichigo is, they will try to kill him, but I will not let that happen. Instead of attacking Ichigo, you should befriend him. It will help your chances for survival," I said like I was a teacher lecturing her students.

"Whether you're right or wrong, I need to test him to see who is better." That just confused me even more. How is testing Ichigo to see if the shinigami or the quincy were better? I guess I'll just have to find out. I watched as Uryu pulled out a round, flat, pill-like thing from his pocket. It smelled like hollow bait.

"What is that?" Ichigo questioned with a raised eyebrow.

"Bait, to lure in hollows," answered Uryu. "We'll use this to see which of us is more capable of protecting this town. Whoever kills the most hollows wins." He turned his blue eyes to me. "Would this affect you in any way?" he asked.

I jumped down from the wall and moved in closer, making sure to keep an eye out for possible arrows. Once I was right in front of him I sniffed the bait. It was weak, it wouldn't even lure in a Gillian. I shook my head. "No, that will not affect me," I said. "But, you do know that if you break it, tons of hollows will show up here and become a danger to the townspeople, right? Even if it's just the two of you, I don't see it possible for you to protect everyone."

Uryu sneered. "If you feel the need to join us then feel free to. You can join our little game, but I wasn't going to allow anyone to be harmed, because I will be one to kill all the hollows that appear." Uryu snapped the bait, followed by the howls of hollows.

TBC

I'll skim over Orihime and Chad getting their powers, but that is it. Tenebris will only notice when she is flying overhead. She won't be sticking around.

Ichi: Thank god you skipped Don Kanonji. I hate that guy.

Shiro: I can't stand him either.

Enj/Dark: He is annoying, I'll give you that, but he is nowhere near as bad as some characters I know. *caugh* from -man. *caugh*

Shiro: Who? :/

Ichi: *looks at my hit list for d gray man* There seems to be two people right now. Someone named Malcom C Lvellie and someone else named Chaoji Han. What did these guys do?

Enj/Dark: The first one is the worst human being in the show/manga. He's not even the main villain, who is acting a bit of a softy right now. The evil bad guy has more of a heart than Lvellie, who has none. As for the second guy, he just annoys the heck out of me. He is closed minded and sees the main character, Allen, as a traitor because Allen wished to save the life of an enemy, because the kid is a sweetheart. Chaoji didn't see it that way, instead he kept thinking that Allen was joining the enemy or had tricked them that whole time and is just now showing his true colors.

Shiro: Wow…

Enj/Dark: Oh it gets worse, but I'm not going to say anything. To the readers, if you haven't seen the show or read the manga, I suggest you do so. You won't be wasting your time, because it is really good. Warning: watching the show can have moments where you wish to skip, but once you get past episode 50, things go down. They get crazy and shocking with curveballs for days. That is all I'm going to say. Ichigo.

Ichi: Please review!
