It had been a few weeks since Edelgard and her close circle of friends had left to attack Those Who Slither In The Dark Strongholds. Byleth has spent this time waiting for her beloved and her friends to return. To take her mind off some less than helpful thoughts about what was taking Edelgard and the rest so long, Byleth busied herself with helping the citizens around Enbarr. While Manuela has yet to clear her for combat, she has been helping deliver supplies to the populace.

Presently, Byleth was with General Karma, and they are walking the streets of Enbarr as General Karma had asked a favour of Byleth.

It wasn't until Leah spotted a young girl, who couldn't be more than four or five years old, was playing with a painting set outside of a small house. She had short brown, hair tanned skin and was wearing a plain violet-coloured dress.

Hearing a few more steps the little girl raised her head towards Byleth and Leah. A wide cheerful smile quickly formed on the little girl.

"MAMA!"

An equally happy smile appeared on Leah's face as the little girl ran up to Leah and the General scooped her up into her arms.

"And how's my little girl doing?" Leah asked as she lifted her daughter high up in the air, causing the little girl to giggle to herself.

"I've been helping Mommy, like a big girl."

A proud smile settled over Leah as she placed her daughter on her shoulders.

"Of course, you are. You're my big strong girl that can take on anything." Leah said as she cheered on her daughter.

At that moment, a door opened that Leah's daughter was playing outside, and out walked an equally tanned skin woman with chestnut brown hair, green eyes and wearing an outfit that reminded Byleth of the staff of the Greenhouse at Garreg Mach Monastery.

A sultry smile appeared on the other woman's face as she moved towards Leah and her daughter.

"My, My… If it isn't my beautiful and amazing wife." The woman leaned forward and pressed her lips onto Leah's.

Byleth smiled as she watched Leah's daughter stuck her tongue out as she watched her mother's kissing.

Soon the pair pulled apart as Leah winked at her wife. She then turned to Byleth and smiled at the Swordswoman. "I'm sorry, I forgot you were here for a moment."

Byleth smiled and waved her hands dismissively. "It is quite alright. Besides, it's nice to see you finally relax."

Leah smirked as she squeezed onto her daughter's legs. "This little one is Amelia." Leah's daughter smiled and waved at Byleth. Leah then turned her attention to her wife as she winked at her. "And this is Katarina. My wife of 6 years now."

Byleth smiled at them both. "Pleased to meet you both. Especially you." Byleth said to Amelia as she shook the little girl's hand. "I bet you're the one that keeps your Mama out of trouble."

Amelia giggled into her hand whilst nodding her head. "Mama got told off by Mommy yesterday because she told me to lie to Mommy about her practising with her swords in the house."

Hearing this Byleth chuckled to herself as Leah rubbed the back of her cheek from embarrassment. "Did she now. I better tell Emperor Edelgard not to invite Leah to the Palace while armed."

"You know the Emperor!?" Amelia gasped. Her mouth wide open and awestruck.

Byleth smiled and nodded her head. "You could say we're… close friends."

Hearing this Leah snorted but didn't comment. "This is Byleth. She works closely with the Emperor and her inner circle."

Amelia looked at Byleth with full blown astonishment and amazement, however out of the corner of her eyes, she couldn't help but see Katarina look at Leah with concern. Then she saw the General glance at her wife with a small smile and nodded her head.

Is something up between Leah and Katarina? Katarina's mood changed when Leah mentioned my name. Something isn't right.

These were the thoughts that invaded Byleth's head.

"Amelia, why don't you take Byleth inside and show her your drawings. Mommy and I have to talk about something." Leah said as she grabbed onto her daughter's shoulders and placed her on the ground.

Amelia nodded her head and lunged forward to wrap her tiny arms around Leah's waist as best as she could.

"Love you, Mama."

Leah smiled and wrapped her arms around her daughter's back. "Love you too, Amelia."

Leah pulled back and pressed her lips on her daughter's forehead. She then ruffled Amelia's hair.

Amelia then ran over to Byleth and started to tug on her hand, leading her into her home.

A few hours had passed as Amelia went through all of her drawings and paintings and showed them to Byleth. If she had to say, Byleth thought that she was a talented artist. She mostly did portraits of her parents and of Edelgard, but they were so life-like it was like they were right here with her. It was amazing to Byleth that a 5-year-old drew these and not a renowned artist.

Once Amelia had shown Byleth all of her drawings, Byleth moved onto telling the young girl stories about her friends. Though stories that were appropriate for a 5-year-old to hear.

As Byleth spun a tale, Amelia sat mesmerised as she was getting to know more private details about Edelgard and her friends. Though after around the fifth story both Leah and Katarina returned to their home.

Amelia saw them both and ran towards them, arms wide. She wrapped her little arms around them both as best as she could as Katarina ruffled her hair.

"Mama! Mommy!"

"Can Mama and Byleth talk for a little bit. It's important." Katarina said as she picked up her daughter.

"Okay. Love you, Mama."

Leah smiled at her daughter and kissed her forehead. "Love you too, Amelia."

With that Katarina took Amelia further into her home leaving just Leah and Byleth alone. To break the silence between the two, Byleth was the first to talk.

"Your daughter is an amazing artist. She's just like Edelgard."

"Thanks. She really enjoys painting and drawing." Leah smiled as she sat down on a sofa. She indicated for Byleth to sit down next to her.

Byleth followed through and sat down right next to her. "She struggles with everyday things, but drawing and painting are some of the things she actually gets, so Rina and I are going to support her anyway we can. Though I can't help but feel like we can also do more to help her."

Byleth smiled at this. "It's obvious she loves you both. I say you're both doing your best."

"Thanks." Leah said as she smiled at Byleth once more before she looked directly at her hands.

Leah interlocked her hands together as she started to tense up.

"If whatever we need to talk about is too much, then we don't have to." Byleth said as she placed her hands on top of Leah's.

Leah shook her head. "No. This is something that I have to do. Something I have to show you."

Leah raised her hands and moved them to her sleeve on her right arm.

Nervously, she raised her sleeve and revealed a tattoo that was awfully familiar to Byleth. The tattoo was of a sword with its blade broken in half. A tattoo that all of the members of the Blade Breakers have. Though that wasn't the only thing that caught Byleth's eye. Next to the blade of the broken sword was another tattoo. One that marked them as a higher up member of the Blade Breakers. One that only Jeralt, Byleth and one other have.

Byleth gasped as her memories took her back to a night in her mid-teens. Looking onward as the last dying embers of what used to be a house burned away.

"You… It's you! But you died!"

Leah nodded her head. "In a way I did. The old me. The me that felt… wrong. I'm not that 'man' anymore."

Leah raised her head as she felt Byleth cover her hands with her own. Tears dropped onto the group of hands from both Byleth and Leah.

"I told the Captain what I was going through, and he wanted to support me. He told me everyone would. But I needed a fresh start for the new me. That was when the Captain thought of a plan were the old me died, and I was reborn as I am now." Leah stumbled though her words as her tears and the lump in her throat started to get the better of her.

"After that day, I took a few odd jobs under my new name and new me, till I got to Enbarr. I met Katarina a few days later. We got to know each other over the course of a few months. After a few dates, I felt like I was ready to open up to her. So, after a couple of nights debating myself, I found the courage and I told her about everything. She spent the rest of day staying by my side, giving me emotional support and her love. We were married a few months later. Then we had Amelia. That was when I knew that I had made the right choice back then on that day. I never felt as happy as I was in that moment, holding onto my daughter for the first time."

Byleth let Leah continue with what she had to get off her chest. Talking about how she's keeping quiet about her being the General for Edelgard's army. As far as Amelia knew, her mother was just a bodyguard for the Emperor. The way her parents prefer to keep it as.

Leah was about to go into more stories, but she stopped as her daughter ran into the room. "I forgot to show you this, Mama." Amelia gleefully said as she held out a drawing in her hand of Leah and Katarina in a tight embrace. However, Amelia's tone changed as soon as she saw tears still falling down her mother's and Byleth's eyes.

"Is everything alright, Mama? I haven't done anything wrong, have I."

Leah shook her head and pulled her daughter tightly into her arms. "Of course, you haven't, darling." She kissed Amelia's forehead as she rubbed circles into her daughter's back. "Mama just had to say something to Byleth that has been eating away at me for a while now."

Amelia buried her head further into her Mother's chest. "I don't like it when Mama is sad. It makes me sad."

"I know, little one." Leah said as she squeezed tightly to her daughter.

A small smile and a nervous hand reached out to Amelia. It slowly retreated slightly, before Byleth shook her head to herself before pushing through her nerves and placed her hand on Amelia's shoulder.

"Then let's not be sad." Byleth spoke softly as the young girl turned to face the other Swordswoman. "Your Mama is amazing and super strong. She's even beat me a few times when we spared together."

Amelia wiped at her eyes with her hands before enthusiastically nodding her head, forgetting she was in tears only moments ago.

"Mama is the strongest. She can lift up Me and Mommy easily." Amelia boasted proudly. Then the three heard another set of footsteps draw closer to them. A few moments later Katarina emerged.

"Not only that. She is the most beautiful woman that I have ever seen. And it was a blessing the day that she asked me to marry her." Katarina said as Leah stood up and wrapped her arms around her wife.

Katarina pressed her lips onto Leah's before resting her forehead against her wife's. The two stayed together for a while before pulling away from each other after a few minutes. Leah glanced from her wife and daughter, to Byleth.

Katarina wiped away her wife's tears as she once again pressed her lips onto Leah's. A wide smile spread across her face as she pulled away from her wife and turned her attention to Byleth and then towards her daughter.

"Would you like to stay a few more hours, Byleth? Katarina is an amazing cook and I'm sure Amelia wants to hear more stories of your adventures with Emperor Edelgard."

Immediately, Amelia's eyes widened with excitement. "Yes please. Can you stay? I wanna hear more stories."

A wide smile pulled on Byleth's face as she crouched down to Amelia's level and agreed. "If it's okay with your Mommy."

Amelia immediately turned her attention to Katarina with wide eyes and hope spread across her face. Katarina couldn't find it in her to deny her daughter this.

"Of course, she can stay, honey."

"Yey!" Amelia cheered as she ran to her two Mother's and hugged them.

Byleth couldn't help but smile seeing the young girl be happy.

"Why don't you take Byleth to your room while Mommy and I get us some food ready." Leah said as she wrapped one of her arms around Katarina's waist.

"I'll be right behind you, Amelia. I just have to talk to your Mama about something." Byleth said as she patted the young girl's shoulder.

The young girl enthusiastically nodded her head as she ran to her room. Katarina gave Byleth a small nod before she pressed her lips onto Leah's cheek. She then returned to her kitchen to start tonight's food.

"So, what was it you wanted to tal-" Leah was cut off as Byleth wrapped her arms around the General tightly.

"Thank you for telling me… and for trusting me." Byleth said softly as she squeezed even more tightly to Leah.

Leah smiled as she hugged tightly to Byleth. "You have been a true friend, both with my new real name and that other one."
