Ahh, New Orleans. A place we wanted to call our home. Well, not Kol and I. And I especially don't like it now, after knowing what happened with Alexander here. However, I'm not going to let past memories haunt my time here.
And it wasn't all bad here. It was better than running for the rest of eternity. Although, that fantasy quickly ended. We haven't been back here since the fire. Since father killed everyone here.
Since Nik lost Marcel.
Marcel and I were never that close. I always considered it a terrible decision turning Marcel, but no one ever listens to me. But regardless, we are here. But I can just feel the tension coming from Niklaus.
"Niklaus."
"Save me the talk Kalle. I'm not in the mood." Niklaus states quickly. We both walk down the streets of New Orleans, looking for someone to lead us in the direction of whoever is after Nik.
"This is more of a warning." I state.
"Don't need a warning, either."
"Nik, the quarter witches are powerful. These witches are some of the strongest." I explain to him, as we turn a corner.
"Well, that is why I brought you." Niklaus quickly remarks.
"There magic is different. You know they can channel magic from their elders, a type of magic you know I cannot do." I state.
"Well you better hope you are of some type of use, or else you are just some useless sister I brought along to nag me the entire trip and if I wanted that, I would have just brought Rebekah." Niklaus states with a small smile at me and I roll my eyes. He then stops walking, and I stop as well.
"What is it?" I question. I look up to him and he starts smile. I don't have time to ask again, as he just starts walking to the direction he was looking at and I follow.
He leads us to this woman. Not just any woman, a witch. I trail slowly behind him to find out what he is going to do.
"Time for one more?" Nik asks.
"I have nothing to say to you." The woman states harshly.
"That's not very nice. You don't even know me." Niklaus states, as I walk closer to the table.
"I know what you are. Half vampire half beast. You're the hybrid." She states.
"The original hybrid, actually. That's another story for another time." Niklaus says as I finally approach the table. "Sister, it took you too long to cross the street."
The women looks from Niklaus, towards me. I look at her interested. She seems very tense. Almost like she is worried to say something she is not supposed to.
"And who are you?" The woman asked, and I gave her a smile. I've gotten good at hiding the fact that I'm a witch. It's certainly easier when I've been practicing for a millennium.
"The more logical one of the two." I state, and Niklaus rolls his eyes, looking back at the woman.
"We're looking for this woman. A witch named Jane Anne Deveraux."
She widens her eyes at me, before quickly denying the fact knowing her. Niklaus does not take a liking into it and threatens her. Surprise surprise.
"Witches don't talk out of school in the quarter. The vampire won't allow it." The woman states, and I lean against the table.
"Mhm, and why do you take orders from a vampire?" I question curiously. Vampires are strong creatures, but witches have been known for centuries to be able to protect themselves from them. I should know.
"They are the rules. I don't break Marcel's rules." The woman states and my eyes widen. I look back at Niklaus who had the same expression on his face. Well, out of everyone who I believed to be dead but turns out to be alive, he was certainly not one I had on my list.
"Marcel rules...well. Where do you suppose we might find, Marcel." Niklaus asks. This just got a whole lot more complicated.
Nik and I walk into a club, filled with a crowd of people. A lot of them in black clothing, like they're going to a funeral. But the main attraction to the room was a man we thought was dead, singing his heart out on stage.
Marcel Gerard.
"Won't you look at that, he's alive." I state surprised, looking over to Niklaus, who still seems stunned. "Nik?"
I look at him curiously, before shaking him out of his trance and he looks down at me. He immediately gets his posture together and stands up straight.
"Not all that shocking. I mean if your lover from the past survived the fire, I wouldn't doubt a man I raised did not have the strength to." Niklaus remarks.
"If that's the case, why did you never stop by to see if he was alright?" I question with a small smirk and he glared at me. We both turn our attention back to Marcel, who is now off the stage.
He walks over to greet these guys dressed in black, before his smile drops. Without looking towards us he states,
"Klaus and Kalle Mikaelson."
"Marcel." Niklaus states, while I keep my mouth shut.
"Years since that nasty business with your papa." Marcel states, and Niklaus walks towards him.
"Has it been that long?" Niklaus questions.
"Way I recall he ran you out of town. Left a trail of dead vampires in his way."
"And how fortunate you managed to survive. My father on the other hand recently I turned into dust." Niklaus remarks and they continue to go back and fourth.
I look between them, exhausted. I always said how it would be torture to have another Klaus in the world. Well, Niklaus raised Marcel. And what's the saying...like father like son?
Well, they definitely banter like father and son.
Eventually they hug each other after not seeing one another for a century. Boys are something else.
"Kalle! So nice to see you." Marcel states coming to hug me but I put my arm out.
"Turn you ass back around Marcel." I state and Marcel puts his hand on his heart in a hurt manner.
"No need to be so harsh." Marcel states pretending to be hurt and I roll my eyes.
I figured Marcel would grow on me eventually. He was a chill kid, and had potential to become someone great. But, unfortunately, his teacher was Niklaus.
"Excuse her. She has been agitated these past few weeks." Niklaus highlights.
"That's one way to put it." I state rolling my eyes.
"Well, you're my guests! So let's get you guys a drink, huh?" Marcel says happily, as he leads up to the back.
Marcel can try to distract us all he wants, but like I said, like father like son. Exact tricks of Niklaus and like with Niklaus, I know not to let him distract me.
Marcel takes us to the back of the karaoke club, where two of her friends follow us, like they are his body guard. Marcel and Niklaus take a seat, while I continue to stand.
They share a little chitchat, while I look at the vampires standing outside the room. I do find it hilarious how Marcel has newbie vampires as his bodyguards, but you know not my problem. Though, I did notice something interesting.
I tap Niklaus, and point to the rings. He nods at me, and looks back at Marcel.
"I see your friends are day walkers." Niklaus states.
"Yeah, yeah. I shared the secret of the daylight rings with a few buddies. Just the inner circle though. Family." Marcel states, taking a sip from his drink and I look at him skeptical.
"Tell me Marcel. How did you get a witch to make daylight rings?" I question and he looks toward me now.
"Let's just say I have the witches here wrapped around my finger." Marcel states, and Niklaus gives him a small laugh.
"Is that so?" Niklaus states with a smile, and Marcel looks back at Nik unamused. "I'm looking for a witch, Jane Anne Devereaux." Once Nik says her name I see Marcel's eye look towards his men with a small smile.
"Looking for Jane Anne?" Marcel asks amused and Niklaus smiles at him. Marcel than looks at me. "Well, I know where she is, but I don't think your sister should come along."
"Why is that?" I question.
"Because I know how you get with certain things and think it's probably best you stay back." Marcel comments.
"She's coming." Niklaus states, before I get to say anything. Marcel looks between us, before agreeing. What does he not want me to see?
Later that evening, we went into the middle of the street, with many vampires follow behind us. I have no idea what's going on, but I do not like the amount of vampires here.
Not only the day walkers but the night walkers as well. It seems like Marcel has quite the army. It's impressive how Marcel has basically took over the city in the century most of us were in boxes, while Nik was trying to break his hybrid cure and Elijah trying to kill Nik.
You know, our regular family issues.
"So, why are there so many vampires here?" I ask Marcel, as we walk down the street.
"Well if we're gonna have a show, we need an audience." Marcel states with a smile and I look at Niklaus questioning. He shrugs his shoulders as we keep walking until we reach the center.
When we get there, one of these vampires is holding a woman. A witch, actually.
"Jane Anne Devereaux!" Marcel announces and everyone starts cheering like they are at a sports event. I do not like this.
At all.
"Jane Anne Devereaux. You have been accused of the practice of witchcraft, beyond the bounds of the rules set forth, and enforced...by me! How do you plead?" Marcel asks, before he looks back at Nik for a moment. "Oo! Was that convincing? I studied law back in the 50's."
I look back at the woman, who looks scared for her life. As Marcel questions her about using magic, I see her lock eye contact with me. Like she's begging me to help her. I'm not hiding the fact I'm a witch right now, considering there are only two witches here. Me and her.
Marcel than goes on rants about how it is basically illegal to do magic here now, like it's some sort of dictatorship. What I tell you? Carbon copy of Niklaus.
"You'll need to use your magic." Jane Anne states to me and I look at her confused. "If you want to find them."
I don't want to give Marcel the slightest idea why we are here. This Marcel seems pretty changed, and I don't trust him. To be honest, I barely trusted him to begin with though.
"I have no clue what you are talking about." I state, acting oblivious.
"Alright. I'm tired all of this talking. I'll give you one more chance..." Marcel says, before throwing a branch at her neck so hard, it cuts her throat. Niklaus and I are both startled, but mostly me. "Or not..."
He killed her just for using magic? Just for doing something she was born with? The worst part is, the crowd just cheers for her death, like it means nothing to them. Like they live for these events. I understand they are vampires, but nothing about what they are make it okay for them to enjoy other supernatural creatures dying.
I watch as Niklaus walks behind me to talk to Marcel, but I walk closer to the body. I kneel down to her, and touch her arm. What did she mean by, 'To find them'. Who's them?
I then see a vision out of nowhere, and I see a woman working in the kitchen. I then see another vision, with them doing magic with one another. I quickly come out of vision, and realize it happened once I touched her arm. They look alike, I bet they're sisters.
And I swore, that place looked familiar. I think it was that bar. I get up from the ground, while getting a few people eyeing me, as I walk away from the center. I see Niklaus and Marcel talking and try to avoid them, but of course Marcel invites me to them.
"Kalle! How did you like the show?" Marcel asks and I cross my arms at him. "Oh, I figured you would enjoy it a little, considering how terrible their ancestors have treated you."
"Might of been a little too far for her." Niklaus mentions.
"Mhm. You were right Marcel, should have stayed away." I state harshly. "I'm gonna leave now."
I start to walk away, but Marcel vamp speeds in front of me.
"Oh, where you going? I didn't mean to scare you away." Marcel states and I roll my eyes at him. I can see Niklaus walking towards us.
"Niklaus, I'm not sure if you remember, but we came to this town for one reason." I state, looking towards him.
"And the witch who called us here, is dead. So why does it matter, Kallandra?" Niklaus states and I immediately understand. Nik only calls me by my full name for two reasons: when he is trying to annoy me, which that treacherous name, and when he is trying to be sneaky. Which means he doesn't trust Marcel either. Good.
I can't just automatically agree with him though. Or else Marcel will get suspicious. "I still don't know Nik..."
"Look, how about we just get a drink. You seem a little tense." Niklaus states and I nod. "We'll be back Marcel. Just going to look around...you're city.." I can tell that hurt Nik to say.
"Well everything that is mine, is yours as well." Marcel states will a big smile, before Nik and I start to walk away.
I type on my phone where to he needs to vamp speed us to, so the other vampires don't hear. He nods, and vamp speeds us to this bar.
Once we get there, I look towards the back to see a women chopping carrots. That's her. I walk towards there and Niklaus follow behind me. Once she turns around, she seems startled to see us, but her tears triumph the surprise.
"You're Klaus and Kalle Mikaelson." She states and I look at her interested.
"I don't know if I should love..or hate that people here know me." I state. No one really ever knows about me or my existence.
"Most of the witches here know you, because they don't like you." She states, not surprising me one bit. "And some vampires know you, but only because of Marcel."
"Ah. Speaking of Marcel...it was sad to see what happened to your sister, Sophie." I state and she nods with sadness in her eyes.
"Well, I hope you both enjoyed the show." Sophia states sarcastically.
"It was a little melodramatic for my case." Niklaus remarks and I just say silent. He takes a step a little closer to her. "What did your sister want with me? Why did Marcel kill her?"
She looks as if she is about to answer, but then looks behind us and shuts her mouth. I look at her confused.
"I see you brought friends." Sophie says worried and Nik and I both turn behind us. Marcel's posey. Hm.
"They're not with us." I remark.
"But they're with Marcel, and that's all that matter." She states to me, before looking back at Nik. "I know you built this town, but this is his town now."
Ohh, she shouldn't have said that. I know that hit a nerve.
"He killed my sister because she broke the rules. So if I talk to you in-front of them, I'm next." Sophia states, before getting back to work.
"Well that's great. Marcel has this entire town wrapped wrong his little finger." I state irritated .
"Not for long." Niklaus states, before walking out of the bar, and I follow behind him.
