You didn't expect this to get an update, did you?
I woke up.
Contrary to my expectations, there were neither any light nor butt-naked people with white wings waiting for me when I fluttered open my eyes.
Good morning!
That wasn't the case, but hey- it's always better to get up with an optimistic touch than on the wrong side of the bed.
No matter.
It didn't help much. I still couldn't see anything.
My sense of sight tried to adjust to the darkness while the only sensation was the smell of ashes all over the place that soon dispersed.
Was I in hell?
Darkness surrounded me.
The personal place of the self-named Evil God that D was, if that's not how I imagined it, where were the imps with big forks at such a time, I didn't feel anything stabbing me in the back so that's a plus!
The place was dark and seemed humid judging by the air, but I could only guess because, as I mentioned earlier, nothing was visible.
In addition to the smell of burning, there was also something else, a honey-like smell penetrated the space I was in, what a strange combination by the way. If I had to compare it to something, it would be a sort of flowery aroma filling my nose.
Strangely, I couldn't feel my legs at that moment, I clumsily put my hands forward and began to wander with them, wafting in the air searchingly like a blind old dude on the street trying to find a passage.
Eee- Soon my hand touched a strange slimy coating that was all wet, had water dripped down it before? The texture of the thing was convex, what exactly was it? Some kind of balloon with a smear?
Hmm...
Hello? Is someone home?
Knock-knock!
Ah, sorry no one is here after all?
You haven't paid your rent for your stay, so I suggest you open it or I'll take out my shotgun and things will get ugly! Do you hear me!?
The wall that was previously unresponsive suddenly began to shrink and shake much to my horror!
I didn't mean to be nosy okay!?
I didn't want to intrude okay!?
So leave me alone okay!?
Wait, why not?
No, thank you! I don't want to become a mashed pulp!
What should I do...?
Well, I think I should somehow break through the shell of whatever this is.
After a while I found that it was getting more and more difficult, I didn't have my beloved scythe to cut it out of existence, I must have lost it when I ate practically a nuclear bomb in my stomach, it's not my good day it seems.
The feeling of being squeezed from all sides didn't add much to my enthusiasm. Just let me leave!
ALRIGHTO FINE, I'M LEAVING NOW!
You guys don't have to be so mean geez!
I tried to use some skill, it didn't matter as long as I could get out. I don't think the Fire Ball Spell would help here though, I was in an enclosed space after all.
Finally, I decided to chant a spell, it was one of the minor-tier Wind Spells, and it sounded like a good idea to start. I willed the wind, whatever it was here, to gather at my command.
...
Huh?
Why the skill doesn't work?
I tried something else, whether it was Poison Magic or Fire Magic, it didn't matter, the result remained the same.
For a while I stared dumbfounded, just sitting there, the only thing that snapped me out of my stupor was the fact that it started to get even tighter.
The wall continued to shrink, but soon stopped, time stopped and my breathing stood as if stunned, soon I made a sound of relief when I felt the mass around me expanding and giving me enough room to put my hands down and support myself.
It seemed that whatever the shell was finally let go, the passage began to open with fresh oxygen coming from above. I wonder why there is a big hole in the ceiling though.
I began to see more, the previous small container I was in sprawled on the ground, or rather, it was a stone.
I squinted and saw that the thing I was in earlier wasn't a box, it was a flower!
My cocoon and web seemed to be wrapped with something along the lines of a plant that had now begun to wither.
Did it mean that I bloomed!?
OH NO, I WAS REINCARNATED AS A FLOWER WASN'T I!
Ah no wait, a false alarm, I could still feel my hands, squeezing my fingers one by one to form a fist, I then hit the stupid dying flower with all my strength and felt a stinging sensation in my thumbs.
OUCH- where is my Pain Nullification I ask?
Suddenly the sounds of footsteps caught my attention, there was someone here with me, the noises were getting louder, causing me to prepare for a potential fight with more of the opponents from the UFO... or Potimas. Who knows if he isn't also responsible for my current state in some way, even though the Demon Lord probably took care of him, I wouldn't be surprised if this fake elf had more things in store, like blasters with lasers or something.
Anyway, I wanted to sell both of them a premium punch to the face.
I tried to get up, feeling the disturbing lack of extra limbs and the familiar sensation of gravity pulling my body to the ground. I felt weak, fragile, and I didn't like it.
"Eh?" It wasn't me, someone not far from me inhaled sharply.
My lips parted, instead of someone familiar greeting me, even if it was an enemy or a friend, so I could then continue to feel confident in my current situation.
However, it was different, the person who saw me was an ordinary young boy with ragged clothes and messy white hair, most of his clothes were torn, and the dagger he held in his hand had cracks, threatening to shatter.
How could I see him if it was dark you ask? Well, single rays of light were all around, and since I could see Mr. Stranger through the falling rays it meant that he must have seen me too, which destroyed any possibility I had of concealing my presence.
Was he here to finish me off? It was unlikely, but that option continued to exist after I surveyed it. It didn't help the fact that I couldn't do much at the moment, however.
For some reason, I couldn't see his or my stats now, which worried me greatly. What happened to the System? In the conclusion I realized that I didn't have my weapons, nor could I create my threads.
Was it D's doing? I guess she most certainly has something to do with it, given that I heard her voice when I was losing consciousness, remembering that pain sends shivers through my body.
Screw you D, you always have to mess up all my stuff somehow!
So my options were quite limited, I couldn't strike back, and I doubted I could give a powerful blow at the moment.
This was the first time since I felt so weak, why not the second? I hurry to explain, during the time I woke up in the Great Elroe Labyrinth I was accompanied by a feeling of helplessness, but it was there that I could at least lean on something and get up on my own feet.
This time no System appeared before my eyes, no game-like experience allowing me to at least feel that I had a way out. That said, now my awakening was accompanied by a premonition that this was not a new start, where the protagonist could Level Up and grow its power.
It was worse than starting from scratch, I was like being dropped in a ditch where I had to climb up with my bare hands.
Not to add to the issue, my body felt more vulnerable to being injured than when I was Wakaba Hiiro.
Nai wa.
A soft sigh escaped my lips and I struggled to get up with my hands resting on the ground, barely feeling my limbs. Somehow I managed to find the needed strength in my elbows and muscles.
"Go...de..ss..."
I heard the words coming from Mr. Stranger in front of me, but he was still too far away for me to correctly determine what he meant. Hello, could you not come so close, please? I have a personal space.
In any case, his voice also meant that he was getting closer, and to add the fact that I didn't know his intentions.
Step, step.
What if he was one of those people who have arachnophobia and would trample on your head in surprise. In my case, it would be a dagger between the eyes, which hardly improved my distaste.
People reacted differently to the sight of me after all.
I proceeded to my next course of action and adjusted my hands down.
Finally, touching the skin of my lower body gave me a shocking revelation.
I HAVE LEGS WHAAA-!
I looked in shock and then touched it as if it was ancient, old from my memories as Wakaba Hiiro for the first time, the texture felt so smooth and strange to the touch. For some reason I felt uncomfortable with them, even though I used to have them it felt like they were alien to me at that moment.
Nah, spider legs were better.
They were definitely warmer and more absorbent to the touch, I couldn't deny their charm. I feel a little separate from the nostalgia I should be feeling now, it wasn't exactly familiar.
Does this mean that I am now a full flesh and bone? Because I felt like one.
Getting up was the worst part, it was awkward at first, I tried to feel my few limbs that should firmly help me get up but I found they didn't want to take up the slack one bit, those lazy noodles!
It felt as if the gelatine had swapped with my muscle mass.
Huff, huff.
Have you ever had a situation where you tried to get up from a position with your legs stacked on top of each other in front of the computer and sat for several hours without moving, so that then when you attempted to rise to go get some food you noticed that you couldn't feel one of your legs?
If yes,
Well in that case we have a similar problem, but I have a worse one, in my case I can't feel in both legs!
If not then go ahead and do your best to feel it! At least it doesn't have that paralyzing tingle when you try to get up.
Aaaa!
My inner pain made itself known.
Finally, I managed to stand up, looking into my opponent's face and trying to appear as intimidating as possible.
Even in this weak form, I can put up a good fight! You wanna brawl, huh!?
Fear me, human...! Is what some monster girl would have said.
Of course, I am a civilized spider girl so there is nothing to worry about. I won't hit you... unless you're Vampy.
Ehem.
Despite everything, however, I don't think my intimidation worked best, given my trembling human legs. Don't get me wrong, their reaction was not due to fear, although I must admit that I didn't want to die.
I simply became unaccustomed to having a fully human body during my time as a cute little spider. This was soon accompanied by a feeling of inferiority. I could not defend myself as well with my own body as before, so some drawbacks must have existed.
I guess there is nothing I can do about it now.
No, it's not a reference to Napoleon, it's a reference to me and my current capabilities, duh.
With my legs still shaky, I turned toward him, but I didn't understand a bit of the expression on his face, it looked like he couldn't express himself, along with the red shadow creeping up his cheeks.
After that he turned his head, not to face my direction.
Was he mute? Earlier I thought he spoke up so why didn't he say anything now?
Then, louder than ever.
"I'M SOOOOOORRY!" His words rang in my ears, far too loud for my liking, with his hand pointed at me. How rude Mr Stranger!
I looked down at my body.
Then I understood.
"..."
Then I realized some obvious fact about why I felt the wind and cold on my body so distinctly.
WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA—!
I WAS NAKED, I WAS ACTUALLY NAKED, WHO WOULD HAVE EXPECTED IT TO BE COLD!
I instinctively took a step back to allow more space, unknowingly meeting a slippery stone until it was too late.
Ugh.
I fell, my nose bones, and face thunderously meeting the dirt.
"GODDESS!"
Nope, Nai wa, I'm done. I don't care about what's going on at this point.
I'm cold, I'm in an unfamiliar place, I lost my powers and got a human body.
"Don't die goddess!" He pleaded in a high-pitched tone, still not looking at her but reaching out with his hand, "Let me help you!"
Damn you, D!
A/N: I hope you enjoyed this chapter, the problem with writing our best girl is that I can only describe her when I'm in a good mood, otherwise it's not worth it for me to write!
It's probably a big surprise to you that I returned to this fic, isn't it? I wonder if the old followers are still here.
Anyway, I wanted to say that the previous part aka the first chapter will be rewritten, I don't like how it was written as well as conveyed. It contains a lot of errors and plot holes like the one with the Guild placed in the tower of Babel...? I think that's what it was called, there is no Guild in it, so I got that wrong and will fix it. And I will probably replace "the meteor par" with simply a large Fireball in the sky.
First I'll rewrite the previous part, it will take a while, because of all the works I wrote, this is the only one I don't have a copy of on my PC, but maybe I can somehow copy it.
That's it for today, thanks for reading and have a nice day. I wanted to post this earlier, but unfortunately, the website wasn't working.
Oh, and no romance in this fic or anything of course. No one gets Kumoko! Haha!
~Ciao!
