Chapter 110: Sibling Reunion

Alpha sat on her office in the Mitsugoshi main building in Midgar Capital City, helping Gamma on her efforts to not only fix the financial damages caused by Don Jon but also assist with her new programs such as the Membership and Affiliate Program. But her main task remains with Shadow Garden's day-to-day operations.

Today she received reports from Beta about the situation in Oriana.

"The Phantom of the Opera, huh. How funny. To think that even Oriana has their own serial killer case. And he's also targeting Cult affiliated nobles in Oriana." Alpha muttered when she read the report while glancing at another report with a picture of a bloody playing card, an ace of spades with the picture of a skeleton knight on it, which was found on a crime scene of another murder that occurred recently in Midgar. Underneath the report are similar reports involving the same killer but different victims.

"He sounds like he's unhinged and his methods are too brutal but… he may become a potential ally if brought under control considering he knows about the Cult and worked against them. I don't like how he's trying to influence 666 though." Alpha continued, finding the Phantom's behaviour to be intolerable at the moment.

"The Black Knight that Beta encountered is… troubling. He's probably one of the Seven Wraiths… and if my hunch is correct, he's one of Necromancer's undead minions, a legendary figure from the past that he brought back from the dead and enslaved. As if violating the living is not enough for you… you have to defile the dead as well…!" Alpha muttered while frowning at the memory of her most hated foe.

"If we can turn the Phantom into an ally, he may be invaluable to fighting Necromancer and his minions like that Black Knight fellow… I don't like relying on psychopaths on the same level as that bastard but… we are desperate... too desperate right now." Alpha kept frowning, disliking how powerless she and Shadow Garden are against the Necromancer.

"Epsilon left to assist Beta in Oriana considering she's more familiar with Oriana and because Beta needs as much help as she can with Necromancer around. That's fine by me, even if the Everick front is left unchecked for now. We don't have enough people to spare at the moment. Zeta is busy tackling the Fenrir faction in Midgar and is currently unavailable. Gamma and me are busy with Mitsugoshi and Eta is Eta. Delta was supposed to assist but…" Alpha remarked as she remembered Delta saying she caught a familiar scent and has to go. Even Alpha would be unable to stop her when she's like that, not that she would.

"I hope you can take good care of him, Delta. He's your brother after all." Alpha remarked, knowing what Delta's up to.

As usual I hang around the hills overlooking the Midgar Capital City in order to waste time and await my inevitable demise, not wanting to finish Lord Necromancer's mission.

But… I probably should have stayed away from Midgar if I wanted to avoid my mission… avoid her… But I can't help but watch over Midgar from time to time. My mother lived here now after all.

And now comes my reaper, my death… my judgment… in high speed heading towards me.

My cute little sister Sara… a sister from another mother.

"Hee hee hee!" There she arrived, so loudly with a scary grin and glowing eyes, crouched on all fours like a wolf ready to pounce on her prey. I can particularly feel a shiver down my spine.

"So you've finally come, Sara. I knew this day would come." I tried to suppress my nervousness and adopted a stance, preparing my claws for my final battle.

"You…" She grinned menacingly with a glare to match. She jumped to me at high speed and…

"Brother Adraaaaaa!" There she goes. She hugged me tightly with both her hands and feet like she used to do back when we were still living with our tribe. The force of her pounce made me nearly fall down the ground and thus I had to spin around in order to maintain my balance. Her tail wagged so happily like it used to do whenever she's happy.

I thought her time with Shadow Garden would change her… and that I would need to engage in mortal combat with her tonight… but it looks like she hasn't changed at all.

"What are you doing here, Brother Adra?" She asked with a huge smile… which I thought was a menacing grin due to how nervous I was.

"Nothing… just chilling I guess." I answered with an uneasy smile.

"Chilling? You cold, Brother Adra?"

"No. I was just… doing nothing." I said while shrugging.

"Doing nothing? Why?"

"No reason."

"You're weird, brother Adra." She tilted her head confusedly like she used to do. I swear I could see some comical question marks appearing and floating around her head. I couldn't resist patting her head and she smiled happily receiving my headpat.

"Sara… I'm… the enemy you know?" I said with a sad smile.

"Hm? Brother Adra is Brother Adra!" She didn't seem to get the message.

"But if you're not doing anything, let's go on a hunt together!" She suggested after no longer being confused, ignoring my previous statement, either intentionally or not, I do not know.

"Hunt? What are you hunting, Sara?"

"Delta's hunting bandits!"

"Delta? Oh, right. New name, huh." Shadow Garden members discarded their old names along with their past identities. Sara changed her name too… but she certainly hasn't changed much.

"That's right! Wanna come with?"

"I can't… I…"

"Please?" Agh! Not that puppy eyes! That's not fair!

"A-Alright…" I was forced to agree by a force stronger than Lord Necromancer's threat… the power of puppy eyes.

"Yaaaaay!" She jumped happily and energetically.

And here I thought I would die tonight! How did this happen? Oh right. It's Sara after all. I probably should've known this would happen. Despite everything that's happened to her, she will still remain the same cute little sister that she is. I'm glad that the darkness of the world couldn't corrupt her.

"Let's go!" She shouted as she grabbed my hand and dragged me out to the direction of the woods.

"Whooaaaa!" I can't resist and was trashed around as she jumped from tree to tree, occasionally letting me hit some branches. She's stronger than I thought! I couldn't exert this much strength unless I transformed into my wolf form! What ridiculous things has Shadow Garden fed her!? I take it back! She has changed a lot! AAAAAAAAHHHH!

I got dragged into a nearby Cult base affiliated with the Fenrir faction by my sister Sara, who calls herself Delta now. Lord Necromancer is gonna be so mad at me… but I can't help it! My sister is just too cute! And too strong too!

As we arrived, she began slaughtering the guards, tearing them apart with her claws like a beast. So savage is she that I felt bad for the cultists. She has become more brutal and savage than back when she used to hunt monsters and magic beasts, so much so that she's on the level of magic beasts… no, she's already far beyond them. When she's like this, she's no longer cute! She's outright scary! And to think I was prepared to die by her hand… I almost felt relieved that I didn't actually fight her and being on the receiving end of her savage claws.

Her strength… reassures me and… scares me at the same time.

On one hand, I'm happy that she's strong enough to defend herself now. On the other hand she is a very dangerous enemy, a high profile target that definitely caught Lord Necromancer's attention, being one of the Seven Shades and all. Her demise might be… inevitable.

"W-Wait… You're… Adra!? Has Lord Necromancer betrayed us!? Lord Fenrir was right to be wary of him…! The civil war… has started!" Said one of the injured cultist when he saw me.

"I'm so sorry. I was just… kinda dragged into this mess." I replied while crouching in order to meet him at eye level.

"Hya ha ha ha!" Sara… Delta's laughter echoes in the hallways of the underground base.

"By her." I pointed at her and the injured guy widens his eyes.

"Working with… Shadow Garden…? How…?"

"It's kind of a… family thing. Don't worry about it. Just go and die, okay?" I smiled as I pierced his heart with my bare hand, putting him out of his misery.

"But seriously, Sara... oh right… Delta. You dragged me all the way here and yet you didn't bother leaving some of them for me?" I complained as I chased after her deeper and deeper into the underground base.

*BOOM*

"Whoa!?" A big shockwave suddenly shook the base. What happened? Did she meet a strong enemy!? Did Lord Fenrir decided to show himself? Or did one of the Seven Wraiths came here!? If more shockwaves occur, this entire base would collapse! I ran faster and discover an unbelievable scene when I arrived at a big room.

The room is filled with corpses of cultists and there is a crater on the floor, which is likely the result of the earlier shockwave. But that's not what shocked me. What shocked me is who my sister is facing… a light blonde haired leopard beastkin wearing black clothes nearly identical to the one that Delta wore, indicating her membership in Shadow Garden. She seemed to be the last survivor of the Golden Panther Tribe. The shockwave from earlier seemed to be the result of her clash with Delta. Delta glared at her and growls angrily and she glared back.

What's going on? Did she…? Did Delta betray Shadow Garden… for me? You can't do that! You shouldn't betray your new friends and ruin your new life for a dead man like me!

"Stop stealing my prey, thieving cat!"

"I was here first! You're the one ruining my whole operation, stupid doggy!"

Okay. I take it back. This is just a quarrel between a dog and a cat. I'm glad it's just something silly like that. Phew! I'm so relieved.

"Doggy! You left an enemy behind you!" The leopard beastkin noticed me and began brandishing her blade.

"Hm? There's only Brother Adra though?" Delta said confusedly, not acknowledging me as a threat at all.

"Uh…. Hi? I'm Adra? Sar—Delta's brother? She… kind of dragged me here." I smiled nervously whilst waving my hand.

"So you're the Adra that I've heard so much about. What are you doing here?" The leopard didn't let her guard down and went straight to interrogation mode. How professional, unlike me.

"As I said, I was dragged here by her."

"Delta brought Brother Adra to hunt bandits together!" Delta said while smiling so brightly. Even the leopard was taken aback by her.

"Haaah… This is ridiculous." She muttered while lowering her sword and clutching her head.

"Well… this is my sister we're talking about." I said as I gave Delta another headpat which she received happily.

"Hm. My name is Zeta. You're as talkative as Beta said. You also seem to hold no malice. So I have to ask, why did you join Necromancer?" She asked while crossing her arms.

"Let's just say that I… owe him a debt. That is all I can say." I replied with a sad tone.

"Brother Adra? Why so sad?" Delta seemed to notice my sadness.

"It's nothing. I gotta get going. See you later!" I said as I quickly left the scene before the conversation dragged on and I spilled more information than necessary, which would further anger Lord Necromancer.

"Wait!" Shouted the leopard named Zeta behind me but I quicken my pace in order to not let them chase me. I even shifted to my wolf form in order to increase my speed.

I'm sorry, Lord Necromancer. I can't do it after all. I can't kill her and she doesn't even think of me as an enemy. I've failed in this mission. I just hope you would spare my mother… and Sara as well…

"Look at what you've done, kitty! You made Brother Adra sad!"

"What!? That's not my fault, doggy!"

*BOOM*

Another shockwave occurred and I watched as the underground base collapsed behind me.

Author's Note:

A funny and wholesome chapter in contrast to previous chapters. Delta finally got some screentime in this fic because she hasn't had some lately.

DerTrap: Really nice chapter, I really liked the gore at the end with Claude's new "Cello".

Also about your answear to Wholesome07's comment:

Shadow Garden members in Oriana: "Lend us power Lord Shadow-sama, this is base cosplaying Necromance we're up against..."

*they said in panic*

Answer: Glad you liked it. And Jack the Ripper is confirmed in this chapter.

Bolvar57: En realidad no dio miedo.

Answer: It's fine. This is not a full horror series after all.

A-Yellow-Liz: So you know the mordred fight in season two of the anime? Well, what if, instead of cid nuking the entire solar system, claude uses all those planets to create a [Black Hole Armageddon] or something like that?

…what if cid says "It's so huge" when faced with the black hole like the alexia bath scene lmao—

Answer: The anime exaggerates it but I believe Cid's I'm Atomic isn't planetary level and just so bright that the light reached other planets as well. If it really is planetary level, the entire planet would feel shockwaves from the nuke and would shift away from its orbit if not outright vaporized along with Mordred, not just seeing bright lights. As for Claude's new Armageddon, I'm cooking stuff but still no concrete ideas for now. That will come later.

Knolleg: I am floored by beta thinking they can solve the potential of war diplomatically, the murder of a king by another king is not something to be taken lightly it can only be repaid in blood.

Answer: That's the thing… that will be relevant later.

HundredMasks: I lose track after getting the soap dropped on me by school projects and you have made another banger, and this time the horror aspect is nice af, especially since you basically get this two sides where

1. he's an absolute menace that inspires horror and terror to all of Audiences

2. a man with a twisted sense of justice utterly extreme in his methodology, but you can't say that he's entirely wrong either, which is also even more amusing because not only does it humanizes the Phantom of the Opera, allowing him to emphasize the horror you'd get from a serial killer, i.e, the unpredictable terror brought upon you by the presence of a murderous human, but also further solidifies the existence of the Necromancer as the "unapologetic, inhuman evil" that he's made out to be, because all the other "evil legends" have an aspect that allows humanization, Alucard is a grieving man, Dark knight is a Prideful king, and Phantom of the Opera is an Extremist Vigilante, all human evils that allows you to understand if not to a certain extent even relate to, while the Necromancer is just the pure, unbridled darkness that holds absolutely no humanity in it, good writing, approve, also, the white owl persona is noice af, a good mirror image to act as the Christina hope to his Jack the ripper, I returned to a good cooking

now that I think about it, will Phantom of the Opera have White owl as his Christine? could be either a good way to introduce a character death, or another separate villain if you interpret the original novel's "live happily ever after with raoul" and twist it here into her becoming a villainess with phantom of the opera as two extreme deliverers of justice

Answer: Busy days, huh? I'm also quite busy but writing this fanfic is one of the things I do to keep myself motivated.

And you're right about Claude's personas being seen as more humanized than his main persona, the Necromancer, who is currently portrayed as pure evil and only showed a bit of vulnerability in front of Shadow once (who misunderstood the whole thing). The Black Knight is not his persona but a member of his Seven Wraiths though.

Will Rose end up as Phantom's Christine or parallels with Christina Hope to Jack the Ripper in canon? You'll see.

Guest: Claude seems to get a kick out of corrupting girls to the dark side. Does he have a thing for villianesses? *insert thinking emoji*

Answer: He kind of does.
