It has been a while since I updated. I finally ended the story and I hope you like it! I still do not own any characters.
Alex
Things are not going great. I thought.
Two Elgen guards grabbed me by my arms, hauled me to my feet and dragged me down the hall, right behind Dr. Hatch and his kids. At that point, I knew that we just needed to escape and rejoin the group.
Luckily, I could see just out of the corner of my eye, Nichelle's eyelids fluttering. I felt a small smile spring to my lips. I may not have superpowers, but I did have my wit. It was coming in handy that Mrs. Jones made me memorize the entire layout of the plant.
Almost there. I thought excitedly.
My eyes darted back to Nichelle. One of her dark eyes was slightly open, just enough for me to realize she was awake. I just hoped she was conscious enough to help me out with the electric kids. I threw my legs forwards with all my strength, my heels catching the guards feet. They tripped, dropping me. I got back to my feet and grabbed the fire extinguisher on the wall.
"Now Nichelle!" I shouted.
The electric kids dropped to the ground, and I swung the extinguisher, knocking out one of the guards. Hatch swung his gun around, the barrel aimed at me. I sprayed him with the extinguisher. He shot blind, the bullet missing me and slammed into the other guard behind me. I jumped on Hatch and managed to wrangle him into a choke hold, and squeezed. He struggled and flailed around, trying to tear me off him. But before long, he went still.
"Not bad, 007," Nichelle crossed her arms, a smile on her lips.
"Not bad yourself," I surveyed the unconscious teens. "They won't stay down for long. Hopefully your clan mates have gotten to Dr. Three."
"Knowing them, they've gotten themselves into some trouble," she shrugged. "We better go find them."
Thankfully, Dr. Hatch was not too heavy. Nichelle and I both took an arm and dragged him behind us. I scooped up a discarded gun from one of the incapacitated guards. I guided us through the twisting halls of the compound. Every so often we ran into a team of Elgen guards.
"Freeze!" The first group yelled at us. They had guns trained on us.
"The job market for henchmen isn't too great right now guys," I told them. I had the gun trained on Hatch's unconscious face. "You never saw us. We're going to give him back… once we're out of here."
The guards hesitated for a moment. I squeezed off a shot that scratched the wall right next to Hatch's head. They backed away from us, guns still trained on us, but obviously still debating the consequences of shooting Hatch on accident. The message must have been passed around because the next few groups of guards also let us pass.
"Spy and goon whisperer?" Nichelle grinned at me after another squad ignored us.
"You run into the type a lot," I shrugged.
We continued to the office where Michael and the other Electroclan were. I kicked down the door to reveal the team and an unconscious Dr. Three slung across Zeus's shoulders.
"The doctors are out I guess," I said with a smile. "Good job taking out a torture mastermind."
"Thanks," Michael looked a little sheepish. He then returned the smile. "Ready to go?"
"I think we've made our point," I agreed.
Michael
Alex and the Electroclan raced through the halls.
"We have a van waiting for us," I told Alex. "We were going to smuggle Dr. Three out that way."
Alex nodded. His gun was still aimed at Hatch's head as he and Nichelle dragged him through the halls of his compound. He was wincing from some injury. I hoped that we could get him some medical attention at the airport. Once we got to the truck bay, we saw a single semi-truck still there, the cabin empty.
"Anyone got their driver's license?" Alex asked.
Before anyone could say anything, a young man's head popped up. He was grinning happily and waved us over.
"I was beginning to lose hope!" He said to us. "The alarms were not very comforting either."
"We ran into a little trouble," I said. "But we got what we came for."
The driver opened the back and we slung Dr. Three into the back. Alex dropped his side of Dr. Hatch.
"We're not legally able to detain him right now," he explained. "Not like the internationally wanted criminal anyways."
"But… he's right here. And he's evil. You saw that right?" Ostin protested. "I mean if we can't take him… we do have a gun right?"
"The last thing we need is another criminal organization power vacuum," Alex shook his head. "Don't worry. We've got plenty of evidence to punch him in a place that really matters to him."
By that point, more alarms were going off. We could hear more people running to the bay.
"Get in! You can talk on the way to the airport!" the driver begged us. "We must go now!"
Nichelle dropped Hatch and we all piled in the back of the semi truck. We could feel the entire vehicle lurch as we sped up and started to leave the compound. Voices shouted from outside the container and we could hear some gunfire faintly tapping from far away. Before long though, it was quiet as the silence of the roads outside the plant engulfed us.
"What evidence do you have?" Tessa asked Alex. "You had all your gear taken for most of what we saw."
Alex leaned in towards her. She jerked back slightly before looking closer at his eyes. For a moment it looked like they were having a staring contest. Tessa then smiled.
"What?" Taylor asked, just as confused as the rest of us.
"Camera contact lenses," Alex said. It was barely noticeable. A thin gray ring circled his brown iris. "Everything I saw, MI6 will also see. I think that threatening to feed a bunch of people to a bunch of super powered rats and collaborating with an internationally recognized criminal are a few good reasons for the governments of the world to look into the Elgen corporation."
"They have really good lawyers," Jack frowned. "And a bunch of friends in the government. We really shouldn't have left him there."
Alex shrugged. "The evidence we have is a good start. Besides, you never really know what goes on behind closed doors with the government. I'm sure they have plenty of enemies too."
Alex seemed unconcerned enough to put us at ease. I finally smiled a little. We had completed our mission. That wasn't too bad. The ride was quiet again.
"What's next for you?" Jack finally broke the silence. "What do superspies do in their free time?"
"This one has homework," Alex replied. "And play practice. You guys?"
"You know. Saving the world and whatnot," I grinned. "Maybe we'll see you again?"
"Maybe," Alex said thoughtfully. "Hopefully between all of us we can keep the world from falling apart."
The semi-truck slowed down and stopped. Alex was the first to jump out. We all followed him. Two planes were waiting for us and so were a bunch of military personal. Different insignia from several countries were plastered on the arms of soldiers. A group of men came towards us along with Gervaso.
"Good work," Gervaso welcomed us. "Our friends here are going to be taking over. They've suggested we get out of here before other agencies start to ask questions about you."
"Friends?" Taylor questioned.
Gervaso gestured over to the group of men who had split off. They were talking to Alex rather excitedly. Alex leaned over to look at us. He mouthed the words You have to leave before turning back to his conversation. Gervaso led us to our plane where we boarded and started to take off. The men on the ground didn't even acknowledge us. I looked out the window and saw Alex waving from the runway below. I waved back.
I hope the ending was worth the wait!
