The whole week the Anderson-Bell's help the Hudson-Hummels. They cook so Carol doesn't have to worry about that and on nights where Carol has a night shift Finn stays over too on a mattress in Blaines room. Kurts spends every night with Blaine. He had two more nightmares. Five nights ago and two nights ago. Both times Blaine made tea for them but they didn't talk much. It was the same nightmare anyway. Nightmare or not Blaine helps Kurt to sleep better or sleep at all.

He also takes care that Kurt stays healthy, noticing that the day Burt had the heatt attack wasn't the only day where Kurt only ate half of his plate. The day after he was too tired for breakfast and hardly ate anything at all at school so at dinner Blaine motivated Kurt in every way possible to finish his plate. He can understand why Kurt doesn't have much appetite but it's important.

Burts condition hardly changed. Still stable. Still not awake. Each day after school Kurt goes to visit him, telling him about his day at school or what happened last evening at the Anderson-Bell home. He has no idea if Burt can hear him but he talks to him anyway. The room is less quiet that way.

Today, Thursday, is no different. Finn is at Rachels and Blaine understood that Kurt wants a moment woth him dad so he waits for him at home, helping his mom to prepare dinner already. "Hey dad" Kurt greets. He sits down on the chair and takes his fathers hand.

"School was okay today. I start feeling like maybe I'm not ready for exams because either stuff got harder lately or I'm not catching up anymore. I tried to pay attention but it just was kinda hard. This time I expect mroe D's than C's but I'll try my best and do better on the next exams. You could motivate me if you wake up. I still have two weeks to prepare because I have to take them one by one.

Glee club was good. Everyone supports Finn and me. They all care for you and ask if they can help in some way. Rachel is really helping Finn, distracting him and listening to him and I'm really grateful for Blaine. I already told you but I just have to say it again. I forgot my lunch at home but he took it with him and made me a coffee to go" the boy tells.

"I guess nothing exiting happned today" he says and pauses. Hears collect in his eyes as he whispers "Please wake up dad". Also something he says everyday since a week. A tear falls, then another. Kurt sits there, lets them fall and doesn't say a word. He just looks at his hand holding the bigger one of his dad.

Then a tiny movement. A second. A finger moving. Burts finger. Then more. Two fingers. Kurt squeezes his fathers hand and the man squeezes back weakly. "Dad?" Kurts head snaps up "Dad!". Slowly but surely Burt opens his eyes, blinking against the light that seems way to bright. Once used to it the man sees his son running out of the room, yelling that his father is awake and someone should come. But Burt saw that Kurt cried before he left. He doesn't blame him.

While Burt has to run through some tests again Kurt waits outside. The waiting room feels to crowded and he really needs some air. He calls Carol and Finn, then Blaine. While Carol and Finn are on their way Kurt makes his boyfriend stay home. In return Blaine insists that they come over for dinner again and update them on what the doctor said. Carol and Finn arrive about ten minutes after Kurt hung up with Blaine and as soon as Kurt sees his stepmother the tears start falling again. Immediatly Carol takes the boy in his arms to calm him down.

Half an hour later the family is allowed to go in the room again. The doctor brings good news. No permanent or long lasting damages and Burt will make a full recovery but he does have to change his life a bit. But the family will make it work and the most important thing now is that Burt is awake and they can go in to see him. First of all the man looks at his son. He opens his harms for the boy and says "C'mere son". Kurt doesn't think twice. He's careful but he needs this touch. Family. His father. Who will be okay.

The family stays long in the hospital until eventually they have to go home. One after another they say goodbye to Burt and go to the car to eat dinner at the Anderson-Bell house. Once there they eat dinner, Kurt finishing his plate without hesistation, and talk. Kurt and Blaine cuddle and drink tea on the couch in the evening but don't talk much. Kurt just enjoys the company.

Burt has to stay in the hospital and for Kurt and all the others at McKinley have only little time to prepare for their exams. Now that Burt is awake again Kurt can concentrate a little better again, trying to catch up as much as possible. It's still a stressful time. Go to school, visit Burt, go home to study and eat. Two more times they ate dinner at the Anderson-Bell's but the other times Kurt just calls Blaine in the evening and they talk a little. Not for long tho because Kurt is too tired to stay awake much longer so they either hang up or Kurt falls asleep on the phone.

After that one week Burt can go home again. He needs to rest a lot and some help with a few things but luckily his wife is a nurse and he has two very helpful boys to take care of him. Kurt wants to be there for his fahter. He needs to be there for him. He's glad to have him back home again. Glad he's still with them and whatever it is Burt needs to rest, needs help with or needs to recover Kurt is ready for it.

Early in the morning Kurt goes to school. He kisses Blaine good morning and together they walk to the class room. Blaine leads the way, Kurts hand in his, so the older can look over his notes again. They write their first exam in less than ten minutes so Kurt tries to remember as much as possible.

At lunch Kurt isn't really hungry. He just takes a coffee and sits down in the library to work on his paper and presentation for french. Blaine wanted to keep him company but he's hungry and since Kurt can't concentrate in the cafeteria he told Blaine that he'll be fine on his own in the library and they will go to their next class together.

After school Finn and Kurt hurry home. Carol has to go to her shift so htey need to get home when she has to leave. Carol always takes the evening shifts so she's home while the boys are at school and when the boys come home she has to leave. She comes back late in the evening when everyone is in bed again. That way everyone has to help a bit more with chores and help with whatever Burt needs but can't do himself again yet. Burt hates to be treated like a baby but he knows he should rest and he knows that Kurt and everyone is worried so he just goes through it.

Once at home Carol leaves with a short goodbye. Finn puts his bag down and immediatly goes down to the basement to do some laundry while Kurt goes to the kitchen and prepares lunch. Burt felt asleep for a little nap on the couch so they let him sleep and greet him as soon as he's awake or they wake him for lunch.

After the three men ate luch Burt turns on the tv and watches a game while Finn and Kurt clean the kitchen table to do their homework there. Kurt texted Blaine during lunch that he's sorry for not saying goodbye properly because they had to hurry and Blaine answers it's not a problem and he should greet Burt while Kurt studies so the latter ignores the text for now. Blaine also asks if they need any help but Kurt answers no. They'll manage.

In the evening Kurt cooks dinner while Finn finishes the laundry. He takes it out of the dryer and puts the stuff where it belongs and Kurts clothes on his desk chair. He throws his own stuff in his closet quickly so he's finally done and can come eat dinner. He's hungry. Kurt not so. After dinner the boys clean the kitchen together, putting some leftovers for Carol in the fridge.

They change into their pyjamas and play a round of ludo with Burt in the living room before Finn goes up to his room to play some video games before bed. Kurt stays with his dad a little longer, playing a second round, before he helps him to bed and finally goes to his own room.

"Hey. Sorry for taking so long. I waited until my dad was asleep" Kurt greets when he finally calls Blaine. "Don't worry. I sat in the living room with mom and Angela anyway. How's Burt?" the younger asks while closing the door to his room. "Okay I guess. Still pretty weak. I hate seeing him like this but he'll get back on his feet again" Kurt answers and puts the clothes on his desk to sit down on his chair "How was your afternoon?".

"Good. We made lunch together and I went over to my neighbours because he asked me if I can walk to dog quickly because he was stuck in traffic after work. This dog is the cutest. My mom helped me with my homework a bit and then I facetimed Wes to ask him if he could help me with math. He said hi to you by the way. For dinner Angela and I ordered pizza because mom is on a business dinner and we were lazy. When mom came back we played some cards" the curly haired boy tells "And yours?".

But the boy doesn't answer right away "Kurt?". "Hm?" the boy mumbles and Blaine repeats "How was your afternoon?". "It was fine, busy" Kurt answers shortly. "Fine is good. Busy not so. What are you doing?" Blaine asks, the boy seems absent somehow. "Nothing. Just going through my math notes and I think I made a mistake that would shift the whole thing. Honey I gotta go. Talk to you tomorrow" the older boy says and just as Blaine answers "Okay. Bye. I lov-" Kurt hangs up.

"Well that was a quick goodbye" Blaine mumbles to himself and throws his phone on the bed. He misses Kurt. Yes they still see each other but at the moment it feels as if he only sees him in school and there also just barely. He hates to admit this feeling because as a supportive boyfriend he should understand that Kurt needs to focus on his dad and because of him has to study pretty late in the evening.

On the other hand Kurt knows that Blaine needs affection. Back then in Westerville he didn't got that much but now that he does and that he mostly does from Kurt he can't live without it anymore. Before hanging up Blaine didn't even had the chance to say I love you and Kurt also ended the call without saying it. They always say it. Maybe today was just a bad day. Busy, like Kurt said. Maybe tomorrow will be better again.

That night Kurt ended up falling asleep at his desk. Carol comes home around one which is a little later than usually. She quickly warmes up and eats her leftovers and then goes up the stairs. She sees light in Kurts room but when she comes in the boy sits on his chair, head on his arms on the desk, next to him his notes and next to that a stack of clothes that he still didn't put away. Carefully she wakes her stepson and puts the half asleep Kurt to bed. She covers him up but he already felt back asleep as soon as his head touched the pillow.

On Wednesday Kurt even skips glee so Finn can go and one of them is still home with Burt when Carol has to go to work. Only thing is that he forgot to tell Blaine and instead just left. The curly haired boy asks Finn where Kurt is but Finn just answers that Kurt went home to Burt and thought that he told Blaine.

By now Blaine starts to get mad. He really tries to tolerate it but it's like Kurt doesn't even care for him anymore. He only sees his dad, making him his priority. That's okay. But Blaine feels unseen by his boyfriend. Unseen by the person he loves most. Unseen by the person who always make him feel loved even when they were just writing letters. He feels like Kurt forgets him sometimes, or even ignores him.
