*Harrison Orphanage*

It was a very beautiful day as Mary was sitting in her bedroom as she thought about her encounter with Charlotte that happened a few days ago.

"I wonder how that Charlotte girl has been doing? It's been a few days since I've seen her but I'm glad I was able told her the truth about how I'm an orphan and what not" Mary had spoken to herself as she stared out of her window as she quickly noticed Charlotte waving at her with what appears to be a smile on her face in which caught Mary surprise.

"Charlotte? What is she doing here!? I'm surprised she was able to notice me from all the way down there but it doesn't matter. I should greet my new friend…" Mary had spoken to herself once more as she managed to open the window so she could greet her friend.

"Heya! I didn't expect to see you here! What brings you around here? Wanna come inside?" Mary had greeted Charlotte in a tone of excitement as the young girl was happy to see her new friend as she waited for an answer.

"Nothing much, I just wanted to know if you would like to have lunch with me if you're up for it at Central Park? If not, then it's totally okay with me!" Charlotte had spoken back with a smile on her face as she lifted her arm to showcase a picnic basket to her friend which made Mary nod her head in agreement.

"I would love to! Give me a few minutes to get dressed and ready" Mary had spoken back to her friend as she nodded her head in agreement as she quickly got dressed into something more presentable as she ran downstairs.

"Where are you going? You never leave the place on Sundays…" Mrs Harrison had asked Mary in a tone of curiosity as she raised an eyebrow in suspicion.

"Just hanging out with friends, I'll be back before seven, okay?" Mary had answered back as she quickly opened the door as it shutted behind her as the young girl was finally outside as she saw Charlotte waving at her with great enthusiasm.

"Wow You look very beautiful.." Mary had complimented Charlotte as she stared at the young girl wearing a white dress in which was followed by her wearing a pretty brown hat.

"Thank you, I wanted to look nice for once so I figured today was a perfect choice but how things have been going on your end?" Charlotte had asked Mary as the girls began to walk towards their destination.

"You're welcome and I've been doing well lately. I've just mainly been hanging around with my fellow orphaned people while avoiding the nagging of Mrs Harrison but overall things have been going quite swell" Mary had answered back as her answer quickly made Charlotte smile with joy.

"I'm glad to hear that and I hope things continue to go wonderful as well" Charlotte had spoken back to Mary as her words made the young girl smile as the pair continued to walk towards their destination for the next thirty minutes.

*Central Park*

Charlotte and Mary had finally arrived at their destination as the girls had set up their picnic stuff.

"This park is truly beautiful! I never been to Central Park before since it's usually far but I'm glad I was able to go today" Mary had spoken out in awestruck as she had taken the time to observe the beauty of the park in which was filled with lush and beautiful green trees and grass before sitting down next to Charlotte.

"Do you go to school or does Mrs Harrison homeschool everyone?" Charlotte had asked Mary as she placed the sandwiches and crackers on a plate as she waited for her answer.

"My other orphan people usually are homeschooled while I'm usually at a public school but It's not really a good time since some of the kids usually tease me due to my status as an orphan…" Mary had answered back in a rather somber tone of voice as she looked down before being quickly comforted by Charlotte.

"Don't let those kids get to you, okay? I also never knew what it's like to have a parent around since my father left me and my mother when I was around five to six years old and ever since then, I've kinda hated my father for that but please know that you have a friend who can relate to you.." Charlotte had comforted Mary as her words brought a smile to her face.

"Thank you, It sucks that you never had a father in your life but at least you have a caring mother figure who's always here for you so be sure to take care of her, okay?!" Mary had advised Charlotte as she gave her friend a smile and a thumbs up in the process.

"Thank you, I will!" Charlotte uttered back as she let out a smile as the girls proceeded to eat their lunch while continuing to chat amongst themselves.

"So, Do you like any boys at your school? I gotta know the answer to this!" Mary had asked Charlotte as she waited for her answer.

"Nope, I can't tell you my reasons as of yet but I'm simply not interested in boys but I did have a couple of boys revealing their feelings to me but I kindly rejected them so I hope you could understand" Charlotte had answered back in a polite tone of voice as this made Mary nod her head in understandment.

"I see, Well, I hope that you find that lucky person and as for me, I'm not interested in boys as well cause I simply find them to be unbearable but who knows! I may end up finding my Prince Charming!" Mary had spoken back as she let out a cute laugh which made Charlotte smile back as she eventually let out a laugh as well.

"What's so funny? It's true! Boys are just yucky!" Mary uttered out in a playful tone of voice as she was still laughing.

"Nothing much, but It makes me happy to see you happy and laughing is also contagious as well" Charlotte had answered back as she managed to catch her breath while her comments made Mary smile back.

"I see, you are really something else but I also wanted to know that I appreciate you for taking me out. It truly means alot to me…" Mary had thanked Charlotte in a warm tone of voice as she smiled once more.

"You're welcome, I love making those around me happy and filled with warmth. It truly fills my heart with joy and happiness knowing that those I care about are feeling good within themselves.." Charlotte had spoken back to Mary with a smile on her face as this made Mary smile even more.

"Crazy how I've only known this girl for a few days but she feels like an older sister to me. It's insane how life works, I guess…" Mary had thought to herself while she looked up to see the beautiful sunny sky as the young girl felt a new sense of purpose in her life.
