(Preparations for the Relay)
*June 30th, 1941*

*Alamo Square, San Francisco*
It was another sunny but warm day as Anya, Linda, and Alexander were preparing for the relay race that was coming in a few days.
"So, the relay race is gonna take place right in this sport in just a few days so we gotta practice beforehand, okay?" Anya had spoken out to her cousins as Alexander nodded his head in agreement with Linda and stayed silent before speaking once more.
"Anya, why do we gotta participate in this race? You know that I bring bad luck to events like these since the teams that I'm in always lose when I was in school" Linda had spoken out in a concerned tone of voice as her words were met with Anya shaking her head in denial before speaking once more.
"Not true at all. People lose at times and that's okay and all that matter is trying your absolute best so let's try that, okay?" Anya had reassured Linda as her comments were met with Linda sighing before opening her mouth to speak.
"I don't know but I'll try at the very least if it makes you happy but if I mess up or lose during the event than don't say that I didn't warn you but let's get this show started" Linda had spoken back as she let out a faint smile as she was ready to begin practice while Anya followed her towards Alexander.
"I think we can win, we just gotta do our best that's all but let's do some practice runs, okay? I think one lap should be enough if that's okay with everyone" Alexander had spoken out to his sister and cousin as both girls nodded their heads in agreement as Anya began to speak once more.
"Doesn't sound bad to me. I was thinking of passing the stick or rather baton for the sake of it to you in return, You can run and pass it to Linda from there and remember! We gotta do this in less than eight minutes so we gotta be quick but is everyone ready?" Anya had spoken back to her cousins as both of them nodded their heads in confirmation.
"We're ready so let's knock down some practice for today, shall we?" Alexander had spoken back as he, Linda, and Anya ran towards their respective destination points as the trio was ready to begin practice.
"Alright, Let's begin the practice so be sure to stay on guard!" Anya had called out to her cousins in a tone of excitement as she began to run across the park square with little trouble as she eventually saw Alexander at the middle point which prompted him to place his hand behind him.
"It's all up to you now so do your best, Alexander!" Anya thought to herself as she passed the stick to her cousin which prompted him to start running.
"Man, this sure is good practice! If we can knock down the basics than we could easily win first place." Alexander had spoken out in full confidence as he continued to run across the park square with all of his might until he eventually saw Linda who was waiting for the stick.
"Linda's only issue is that she seems disinterested in this event so it may cause her to not do her best during practice and that's her major issue. It's her lack of confidence within herself and sometimes others but it's not her fault or anything." Alexander had thought to himself as he got closer to Linda as he was ready to pass the stick to his sister as he eventually did as Linda began to run.
"Don't push yourself too hard, okay? Just know that you got this in the bag!" Alexander had called out to his sister in hopes of motivating her as he saw Linda running towards the goal.
"Don't lie to yourself. I'm just gonna mess this up just like the others times from when I was in school but I also don't wanna let my brother and cousin down so maybe I should try my best" Linda had thought to herself as she ran the final stretch of the park before eventually crossing the goal as she was met with claps from Anya.
"Good job! That was wonderful! I'm sure we can win this event if we put that same energy towards the event" Anya had congulated Linda as her cousin nodded her head in agreement.
"I hope so but I'm gonna try to remain optimistic as well since being pessimistic won't get me anymore…" Linda had spoken back as she looked over to see Alexander walking towards them.
"That's the spirit! Whatever bad mojo you had won't be applied here cause me, Anya, and the people that you care for will be cheering for you so let's all do our best, okay?" Alexander had spoken to Linda as he let out a smile and gave her a thumbs up.
"See? You have such wonderful people supporting you so it's not bad luck or anything like he said, let's do our best!" Anya had chimed in the conversation as this made Linda smile as she began to speak.
"I guess both of you are right so let's practice even harder so we can win, okay? If we could win this event than that will make me very happy but…" Linda had spoken back in a happy tone of voice as Alexander began to speak once more.
"You just gotta have faith within yourself and always know that even if we lose, Just know that we did our very best and that's what matters in the end. We win some yet we lose some but we always live to fight another day so always keep that in mind, okay?" Alexander had spoken back to his sister in hopes of motivating her even further as this proved to be a success as Linda smiled once more.
"Thank you, I truly appreciate your words. It means alot so I gotta try my best if we wanna win but like you said, It doesn't matter if we win or lose'' Linda had spoken back to her brother as she was ready for the relay race that was coming in a few days as Anya watched everything with a smile on her face.
"That's the spirit! All that matters is trying our best and having a good time so let's continue practicing, shall we?" Anya had spoken back with a smile on her face as she was met with nods of agreement from her cousins as she and the others were motivated and excited for the upcoming event that was coming in the few days.
