I don't know how long I was in there for. Probably an hour, but I think that's how long it felt. Sitting in the janitor's closet alone with nothing to do can feel like ages. I checked my phone to see if I had heard anything from Stephanie, but all I had was a few notifications. Made sense though. Stephanie never had her phone out during class. Responsible Stephanie.
A while after there was a knock on the door. I froze. Nobody else knew about my secret hide out except for me. I waited to see if the person was going to go away but there was another knock and then a familiar voice.
"Tina? Can I come in?" The voice was soft and timid. I recognized it as the new student in my math class, Stella. I stood up and slowly opened the door a bit.
"How did you know I was in here?" I asked. She looked at me with her brown eyes. "I was returning from the bathroom when I heard a voice," she said. "I had a feeling it was you."
Not sure what to do, I just stood there thinking. "Well, do you want to talk about what happened? I can listen and be there if you want."
I smiled and let her in. It would be nice to finally talk about what was going on with someone new for once. Stella closed the door behind her and sat down. She looked around the room. "I can see why you like it here," she said softly. "It's pretty small and quiet." I nodded in agreement.
"So what's going on?" She sat down next to me. "Well," I began. "I think it's obvious who my parents are." I laughed. "But that can come with some flaws. I don't know why, but our math teacher, whom you've clearly gotten a feel for, just hates my dad for what he's done.
"My dad has always been my hero, but I never got to meet him. As you know, he died saving the world from Thanos. Because of that, it made just...I don't know. I wanted more than anything to see him for the man he was. A hero. But because of his death, I never got to.
"So what I did growing up was watch videos of him. My mom has a VHS player so we would watch tapes of him where he'd play with Morgan when she was a child, and I would also get to meet the other Avengers and learn from them how great of a man he was."
Stella sat back and listened to every word I said. She was patient and didn't interrupt. I felt like she understood what I was trying to say. After I was done talking, I leaned back and sighed. The memories of childhood came flooding back. Me wanting to meet my dad, me wanting to know more about him...regretting the day he died.
"I'm sorry to hear about your father," Stella replied after a while. "I...I remember reading about that. I know that what he did was the right thing for us, for everyone. We're really greatful for his sacrifice. I know that if he was here today, he'd be proud of you."
I wiped away the tears that were nearly streaming down my face and whispered a thank you to Stella. She pulled me into a hug as the bell rang. "That would be the lunch bell," I said, recovering. "Should we go eat?"
"I think that would be a good idea," Stella said. With that we left the comfort of the janitors closet and headed to the cafeteria.
SOMEWHERE ELSE
Deep in the atmosphere of space, a space capsule was rushing towards planet Earth. Inside, a young female with blonde hair braced herself as she entered the Earth's gravitational pull. Gravity consumed the ship as it came hurling down. Suddenly, with a great clash, the ship landed and hit the earth with full force.
Groaning, the girl stepped out of the pod and rubbed her head. She was greeted with Earth's atmosphere and scenery. She had never been on the planet before in her entire life. Heading with caution, she began to leave the area for her journey.
Meanwhile, in a secluded area, another space capsule sat there minding its own buisness. Inside sat another woman, one with long brown hair dressed in green. She sat there her eyes closed as if she were meditating. Just then she opened her eyes as something blue in the distance glowed. She smiled.
"Perfect," she said. "It's activated. With this my plan can finally begin. No one will be able to stop me. I will be successful in getting what I want, what I deserve." With that she laughed a sinister laugh. Her plan was just beginning.
