The Worst Reincarnation Yet

Chapter 2: Ice and Robots

After a long cold night, the daybreak brought glimmers of warmth. The early morning sunlight, soft and diffuse, gave way to the first strong rays of the day. The light entered the sibling's room through the partially covered window, creating a rainbow of diamonds dancing across the wall. Weiss groaned as the sunlight was starting to disturb her sleep, she was still tired from all the stress her father created for the couple of days she spent at the manor. "... Ahh!" The ice queen got up from her bed and frowned. "Ugh! I hope we will be arriving at Vale soon, I can't take being stuck in this cramped room for another moment." Her mood wasn't great, but nothing like a good cup of delicious coffee to fix that.

Weiss stretched her arms and yawned. She looked to her side and noticed the second bed was empty, and judging by its unblemished state, it was clear that Whitley had not returned to the bedroom last night. "Strange, I could've sworn he didn't leave the room but then again I did fell asleep immediately after getting to bed so..." Weiss got somewhat worried as her younger brother wasn't used to leaving home, not to mention he had no means to defend himself from threats. "The day just started, and that dolt is already giving me a headache, I should go search for him."

The heiress went to the bathroom, she quickly removed her clothes and jumped into the shower. The warm water touching her pale soft skin felt terrific, Weiss ran her hands over her white silk-like hair to clean it properly, this washed away most of the stress she felt. Eventually, the girl got out and dressed herself. She then arranged her hair in a neat manner. "Hehe! Much better now." Weiss finished applying some makeup, her appearance was truly of a snow angel.

With everything done, Weiss left the room to search for Whitley's whereabouts. There were some people in the hallway, mostly staff members, as they were performing their daily routines. She continued to make her way, eventually arriving at the cafeteria. A sudden sensation greeted the heiress with the appealing smell of freshly baked pastries and the strong smell of coffee. Fortunately, there were still some tables that were not occupied, but something in the corner of her eye caught her attention. "Found you."

Whitley was so focused on reading his book that he didn't notice his older sister approaching. Weiss flicked the boy's ear to gain his attention. "Ow! What the?!" He dropped the book and turned to see who was messing with him. "Ah! Sister, it's good to see you, I trust you slept well?" He greeted her with a smile, but it was clear from Weiss's expression, she was somewhat annoyed. "P-Please join me for breakfast, you will definitely enjoy the delicious pastries they have here."

"Right, but before that, where did you sleep? And don't even bother trying to lie because I know you didn't stay in the bedroom last night."

"I thought you would feel more comfortable being alone, so I decided to just roam around for a bit." He replied with his usual tone. "No need to worry about me, I feel fine, besides I'm just glad you don't look so distressed like yesterday."

"O-Oh! You did that for me?" She knew he had matured, but this recent change of behavior still felt strange to her, though not in a bad way. "Well, thanks for watching out for me." Maybe this was something she could get used to.

"Don't mention it, now, let's have breakfast." Whitley gestured to the waiter to bring the meals he had picked earlier. "This is on me, so don't be shy and eat all you want." Within moments, the waiter returned with the order. The plate placed in front of Weiss had a slice of strawberry cake, it had the most beautiful shade of pink. For the young man was a slice of chocolate cake covered with whip cream at the top. He took a small bite out of it, the explosion of flavors inside his mouth was intense, and the creamy chocolate interior mixed with nuts was divine. "Magnificent!"

They indulged themselves, but something was still bothering Weiss. "... By the way, I need to know more about why you are going to Vale. You said before you wanted to invest in some businesses there, but I still don't understand your reasoning." She was suspicious of his decision since he was always a spoiled brat before. "We have plenty of money so why are you doing this you are father's favorite child, are you trying to impress him to take away my status and claim it for yourself?"

Whitley took a sip from his cup of coffee while thinking about how to answer. Crap! I should've known she was going to keep prying for answers, but I suppose I can't blame her since her brother is the favorite child but...you have no idea how scared Whitley felt being left all alone, he had to deal with a mother that showed no interest except in a bottle of wine, and a controlling freak of a father...to hell with it! He glared at her. "I'm just doing what's best for me, you and Winter left me alone in that household to pursue your own freedom. I am just following the path you both took, but have no worries, I will borrow the Schnee name and its resources for a while until I have finished my plans. I don't care about stealing the title of 'heir' from you."

"Y-You say that like I had a choice, you don't know what kind of hardships me and Winter suffered through since you were always the favorite child." Weiss frowned, the Schnee household was a nightmare to live in. "I couldn't take it anymore, I had to escape."

"HA! Favorite you say?" He grinned. "To Winter I don't even exist and from you, all I got was cold stares and harsh words ever since we were little as if it was my fault what father did or the way he treated me." Whitley scowled at her. "No one from that household had my back except for Klein, so what could I do against the old man on my own?!"

Weiss felt something sting her heart, it was guilt. "... So you hate me..." She realized that Whitley was right in a way; she was the older sister, and it was up to her to take care of her younger brother, but instead, she was mean to him and did her best to avoid him. "... I... I..." The girl felt as if there was a lump in her throat that prevented her from talking.

An awkward silence filled the air. Dammit! I just made things more complicated, but at least she knows I don't have the ambition she thought I had. The boy noticed that his sister was clasping her cup, her hands seemed to be trembling. He sighed. "I could never hate you. What happened before is in the past, so let's leave it at that." Hearing that made Weiss look at him with a regretful expression. "I forgive you, and I hope you can forgive me as well." His gentle smile reassured her that his words were honest. "I meant what I said a couple of days ago, I shall strive to be the brother you deserve."

"Me too." She nodded sheepishly. I promise that I won't abandon you this time.

At that moment they felt the airship lowering altitude and beginning to slow down, soon enough it was below the clouds. Both siblings approached a large window alongside a few passengers and saw the city. "Finally, we are here." There it was Vale in all its splendor. Alright! I know the city is divided into multiple sectors, but thankfully I already know Junior's club is located in the industrial sector. Unfortunately, the Xiongs are the most powerful underworld family, and they have the entire police in their pocket, so if they smell fear they will rip me to shreds. But I will make them an offer they won't refuse. HAHAHA! Shit, I hope.

"I assume after we land, you will go do your thing?" Weiss was concerned, leaving him alone. "Maybe, I should go with you, since you are new to this kingdom."

No! If this backfires it will be two or in this case just one against a whole criminal syndicate, I won't drag you down with me. I appreciate the concern, but you have quite a dangerous adventure ahead of you with your friends. Besides, I'm used to doing things on my own. Whitley turned to his sister. "Have no concern everything will be fine, I mean who would be stupid enough to hurt a Schnee?"

"You would be surprised, but I guess you won't change your mind so easily. So, when you are finished with your thing come to Beacon, I want to introduce you to my friends, they are a strange bunch but not bad."

"You have friends?"

"How funny!" She flicked him on the forehead.

Meeting the rest of team RWBY?! Fucking plot keeps coming after me!

Later that night, the Industrial sector...

Even though it was past midnight multiple factories were still operating, trucks were being filled with Dust and other materials and there seemed to be no end to them. Many of the employees were Faunus and their working conditions were abysmal, to say the least, they had no protective gear to prevent them from inhaling toxic fumes and other hazardous materials. Yet even looking exhausted, they all pushed on since they needed to meet their quotas or risk losing their job. Whitley felt sorry for them as he walked past them, but he couldn't do anything to help.

When he made it around the corner, he noticed a few people hanging around an old brick building with arched windows, the entrance was guarded by several thugs. "Hmm, those bastards have tight security." Whitley pondered what his next move should be. "... Crap, I was going to infiltrate to keep a low profile until I met with Junior, I guess I have no choice but face them head-on."

"Are you sure about that? They seem quite dangerous."

"Ha! Once they know I'm a Schnee they..." The fuck?

The young man slowly turned around and saw the girl with emerald eyes. "Salutations friend!" She greeted him with enthusiasm.

Whitley jumped back with a face that screamed full-blown panic. The sound of his heart was ringing in his ears and cold sweat was all over his forehead. Good God! I have to put a bell on you. Penny, stared at him, wondering why he wasn't saying anything. "... S-Sorry, y-you just caught me off guard there, give me a moment, please." He was gasping for air.

"Oh, I didn't mean to frighten you, I apologize."

With a deep breath, he was finally able to calm down. "No worries, it's good to see you, Penny, but why are you here if you don't mind me asking? This is a shady place, so you shouldn't be here alone."

"I saw you walking around and decided to follow you." She replied nonchalantly, but the truth was she didn't know how to approach him.

Well, this is Penny so it sounds about right. Whitley sighed. "Listen, you can't just go following people around, alright? Doing that will cause a lot of misunderstandings and make them wary of you."

"Ohhh, ok." She nodded. "I shall refrain from doing that from now on."

"Excellent! Well, I actually have to go now as I have important business to attend to, see you around Penny." He left her behind and made his way towards the nightclub's main entrance. I'm sorry for leaving you like that, but I can't have you being in danger because of me, so just go home. Whitley approached one of the thugs. "Hello! I'm sorry for bothering you, I am Whitley Schnee. I request entrance into this fine establishment, I have a crucial meeting with your boss."

The brute-looking man was wearing a black outfit with a red necktie and red glasses. He looked at the young boy in front of him with a frown. "Beat it, kid, before things get bad for you." But Whitley refused to be intimidated and stood his ground, this made the thug grow angry, and he grabbed him by the collar. "Do you have a death wish?! I told you to leave, but I guess you are asking for a beating, you little shit!"

Before things could escalate, another gang member joined the scene and pushed the other to the side, releasing the boy. "Are you stupid or what?! That kid is a Schnee, if you harm him, we will the entire Atlas military sacking the joint." He then turned to Whitley. "My friend here is an idiot and regrets what he did, so please don't mention this to anyone, if you promise we will let you and your girl inside the club."

"Deal!" Wait, my girl?! What girl?! He looked behind him and there was Penny. "D-Didn't I tell you it was wrong to follow people?"

"Yes, but I couldn't simply leave knowing that you might get yourself into trouble, Weiss would never forgive me if you got hurt." She then proceeded to fix his necktie, which made the young man blush a little since she was close to him. "If you wish, I can teach them a lesson, I'm combat-ready!" Penny was feeling pretty excited as it's been a while since her last battle. This sparked anxiety in the thugs, as they knew the orange-haired girl belonged to the group that defeated and dismantled the White Fang's operation at the docks a while ago.

"Ahhh! Don't listen to her, she's just excited, that's all." He grabbed her hand and guided her inside. "I appreciate what you did back there, but I am not here to start a fight, so please don't engage them unless they mean to really hurt us."

Penny paid no attention as she was focused on Whitley's hand touching hers, she could feel his warmth, and it made her feel a strange sensation she couldn't describe. "Is everything good?" But the girl remained distracted, Whitley looked down, noticing he was still grabbing her hand. "Oh! Sorry about that." He released her from his grip, his face was red.

"I-It's fine." She was somewhat embarrassed.

This wasn't part of my plan, but...her hand was really soft and warm... He then shook his head and slapped himself in order to focus on the task at hand. "Here we are."

The dance floor was directly ahead, down a flight of stairs. There were six large crystalline pillars that surrounded the floor, with the DJ's booth located on the opposite side of the entry stairs. A long bar was along the left side of the dance floor, and it was crowded with plenty of people enjoying their drinks. "Leave the talking to me, I have to make a deal with their boss. You will be my bodyguard, so if they try something suspicious, you can attack them."

"Understood." Penny nodded, though she felt this was too perilous, she admired the boy's determination and lack of fear.

At the edge of the dance floor there was a big white table surrounded by guards and at the center of it was a man wearing a black vest over a white dress shirt, a red tie, black gloves, and black pants. His hair was short and black, along with his matching beard and mustache. Heh! I suspect he already knows my identity since the other guy back there believed I was really a Schnee. Whitley immediately went towards him but was stopped by a couple of guards. "I'm here to speak with sir Xiong, I have an offer that you will find quite appealing."

Junior finished his drink and stared at the boy, he then gestured to his men, and they let him approach. "I admire your guts, little man, but you do realize I control everything in this city, and now you just entered into the lion's den accompanied by just your girl." He smiled maliciously. "The only reason I haven't taken you captive yet is because I'm curious to hear what you want since you're a Schnee and because I do not wish to go to war against such a powerful family at this time."

Whitley took the seat in front of the club's boss. "You're smarter than you look, good." Whitley smirked. "And you can forget about the empty threats, I already know about the Xiong family's current situation." Junior's eyes widen in surprise. "I'm sorry to say, but you are no longer the top dogs on Vale, ever since your father died, and you took over the power of the Xiongs has declined a lot. If this keeps up, you won't even be able to hold the industrial sector or this club for much longer."

"You dare to insult me!" Junior's first slammed the table, which caused Penny and the guards to change their stance.

"Forgive me, that was not my intention." He bowed his head in respect but showed no signs of being intimidated by Junior's outburst. "But now you see that your family's standing is pretty low at the moment." Whitley then continued. "My proposal will change all of that, sir Hei, so indulge me for a second. I request that your men cease all criminal activities and instead help me with some ideas that will benefit you."

Junior laughed mockingly. "Hahaha! Sure, let's hear it!"

Whitley licked his lips as it was time to reveal his plan. "First, we shall use your men's power to secure the streets and make sure the citizens of this fine city can go on with their lives without worrying about being attacked or robbed. Second, we will help repair and aid certain parts of the poorer districts to bring them to our side, thus expanding the Xiong name in a new light, so the people can see that you've changed." The young man continued. "Third, once everyone realizes that a Schnee is supporting the Xiongs the noble families of Vale will come to us seeking aid, then we will accomplish the most incredible feat that even the government failed to do which might gain you a seat in the council."

"W-What's that?" Hei couldn't believe what he was hearing, but this was making all sense to him, maybe it was the boy's confidence.

"We shall rebuild Mountain Glenn and make it into a bustling new district!"

"T-That's insane?! How can we do any of that, do you even have that type of money?!"

Valid question. Whitley smirked. "My father would never support you with his capital, but I have a large amount of funds under my name. We will use that to create new businesses and expand the income revenue, that will allow us to do everything I just said."

"... T-This is insane..." He was completely baffled. "W-Well, this sounds too good to be true, but in return what do you want I doubt you are doing this from the kindness of your heart."

"Hehe! Indeed! I want a cut from the profits and your manpower in case I need them."

Junior pondered the boy's offer. If I accept his deal, I will be able to bring my family from the brink of destruction... I... I can't let all my father worked for to be destroyed, even if I have to abandon our criminal activities. Furthermore, I will do what he couldn't, I will make the Xiongs have a seat in the council and restore our honor. Hei extended his hand. "You have a deal! But if you fail, I will gut you like a fish."

"Ha! You got yourself a deal." He shook Hei's hand with a huge smile on his lips. "We have to celebrate! Hahaha!" Hook line and sinker. With this arrangement, I will get the funds I need for the rest of my life!

"Such a weird kid." Said Junior.

Penny's green jewel-like eyes seemed to shine under the dance floor's lights while she looked at the white-haired boy laughing maniacally. "A weirdo indeed." She giggled.
