The Worst Reincarnation Yet

Chapter 12: Secrets and Revelations

The cerulean expanse overhead unfolded its radiant splendor, reminiscent of delicate blossoms gracefully embracing the jubilant hearts of ethereal clouds. The tranquility that pervaded the heavens was disrupted by the resounding sounds of engines roaring, as a grandiose obsidian Bullhead airship traversed the open sky, proudly adorned with the esteemed Xiong family's coat of arms. Accompanying this impressive vessel were two equally formidable airships, united in their purpose to ensure the seamless arrival of the Xiong flagship at its intended destination, safeguarding against any potential dangers.

"Sir, we have Beacon academy in sight, we shall land in eight minutes." Reported the pilot. "No sign of any other ships trying to intercept us, we should be safe for now, boss."

Junior agreed, fully aware of the many people who wanted him and his comrades dead, they would go to any lengths to destroy everything he had worked for with the help of his friend. "I hope your plan works, kid. It's a big gamble for us to be out here." He glanced at a young man with white hair, who appeared completely unfazed by their risky situation. "You don't seem worried at all. I guess that's just typical Schnee behavior." Junior commented.

Whitley grinned. "Don't worry, no one will dare to harm us out in the open like this. The only ones who could possibly attack us are Beacon's air defense or a Maelstrom airship. But let me assure you, neither of them will make a move." He spoke with confidence, although Xiong couldn't help feeling a bit nervous. "Besides, we have more important things to worry about, like this fancy party that the old Headmaster decided to throw." Almost all of Vale's nobles are there, so it's the perfect place to gather more support.

"Very well, but do you truly believe it is wise for you to accompany me?" Hei inquired. "The talk of your endorsement of my candidacy for a position at Vale's council has already begun to circulate. I doubt about your sister's approval when she finds out, not to mention the disapproval we may face from the Headmaster when they witness our joint entrance."

... Indeed, a Schnee showing up with a known criminal will cause a stir in high society, but at least everyone will know for sure that I formally support Hei Xiong. Whitley with a confident look replied. "The reason I am doing this it's because I wish to leave my family and to do so, I need my own power, that's why I allied myself with you." His fiery gaze revealed his determination. "We hold all the power in the Industrial sector and the docks, the local Faunus support us, our numbers have increased, and my private army of bots makes us a power to be reckoned with." And a potential alliance with the White Fang is something I look forward to.

"Yeah, it's true, I owe you big time for all the influence I got from you." Junior was really thankful for Whitley's efforts. "But one thing, I gotta say, I'm not really on board with having those two psychopaths with us." He gave Roman and Neo, who were in disguises, a disdainful look.

The trio exchanged intimidating looks with each other. "Ha...haha... w-well we kinda need them since they are strong, a-and they are trustworthy." The young man said nervously, as the atmosphere was so thick it could be cut with a knife. "L-Let's all play nice, okay?"

"Tsk, whatever, I just hate working with unpredictable deranged people." Replied Hei annoyed.

Roman scoffed. "Well, aren't you just so lucky that I haven't decided to plunge a dagger into your back... yet." This provoked a slight, sarcastic smile from Neo.

"Wanna say that again, you asshole?!" Junior shouted angrily.

Both of them were about to start a fight. "Wait, hold on!" Whitley shouted. "Seriously, we don't have time to waste arguing. We all need to work together and get our plans done, so everyone can get what they want in the end." He said with a serious tone, which made Hei and Roman stop arguing. "We'll be landing soon, so let's try our best to avoid causing any trouble. We need the support of the nobles, not their anger." The situation seemed to have calmed down.

"Hey boss, just wanted to give you a heads-up that we're about to touch down." The pilot said as he skillfully guided the Bullhead airship towards Beacon's landing pad, making sure to land it safely. "Touch down! You are all safe to leave when you feel like it."

"Finally!" Junior exclaimed as he opened the door and jumped out, he couldn't stand being near Roman anymore.

Whitley shook his head and said, "Oh, by the way..." He walked up to the pilot and added, "Could you do me a favor and let the other ships know to steer clear of the academy? It'd be great if they could fly high up in the sky but maintain a safe distance."

This sudden request left the pilot somewhat confused. "May I ask why, little boss?"

"Heh! Just in case things go south, we need a quick exit strategy, don't you think?" Whitley replied. Ozpin was the one who sent our invitation, but I have a sneaky suspicion that he sent Qrow to snoop around, and now he wants to use what he found against me. Hahaha! No worries, I already saw this coming. A wicked grin crept across Whitley's face, then he turned to Torchwhick. "Stay here and make sure nothing happens to our ship."

"Wait, what?! You're actually expecting me to do babysitting duty?" The self-proclaimed kingpin couldn't believe it, he was absolutely furious.

"I'm counting on you to make sure our escape route stays secure... but, I can't risk having you around those fancy clowns. Who knows, someone might recognize you, and that includes Ozpin himself." The truth is, I don't have much confidence in Roman's ability to resist his criminal tendencies when surrounded by such important rich people. It could turn into a huge disaster if I don't keep him in check.

Torchwhick sighed. "Fine, thought you better pay me double for this."

"Deal!" exclaimed Whitley, a wide smile lighting up his face. "Alright, let's get this show on the road." With enthusiasm, he leaped out of the Bullhead airship, followed closely by his trusted bodyguard. "Hey Trivia, Hei, we've got to stick together and not mess up. Once we step into that party, all eyes will be on us. Some people might even go as far as to insult us, but we can't let it get to us, we have to rise above it and stay composed like true nobles, alright?"

Hei nodded in agreement while the girl was writing something on her Scroll. "If someone shows you disrespect, I should bash their skull in. I mean, I am your bodyguard after all."

Xiong and Whitley glanced at each other, and the white-haired boy scoffed. "Oh, come on! You are just looking for a reason to throw some punches around. You can't trick me that easily!" Damn, this girl is always looking to cause mayhem wherever we go, maybe I should have brought Roman instead.

"You're no fun." She was a little annoyed.

The group advanced towards the entrance, where several soldiers were conducting patrols and a few more were positioned at the main gate. An officer approached the trio and kindly asked to see their invitation. "Hmm, everything appears to be in order, you may proceed." He said, gesturing to two guards to open the doors for them. "I wish you all an enjoyable evening."

Upon entering, they were utterly amazed by the opulence that adorned the grand hall. Their eyes were captivated by the array of costly ornaments, intricate details, and magnificent artwork that adorned the space. From the statues to the paintings and the elaborate murals, each depicting significant battles that had occurred in Vale ages ago, the level of craftsmanship and historical significance left the group in awe. " I suppose this is to be expected since you are throwing a party for Vale's high society but still..." Ozpin surely knows how to show his influence and money, though that said money is given to him by the nobles and the government. Whitley was impressed.

Hei couldn't freaking believe his eyes. "Oh my fucking god, this is insane! My parties don't even come close to this, if you compare, mine seems like shit." Out of nowhere, the young Schnee quickly kicked him in the leg, causing Junior to wince in pain. "Ouch! Ahhh! R-Right, stay focused, and no foul language." He fixed his tie. "I'll have these guys eating from the palm of my hand in no time."

Trivia could feel the intense pressure from everyone's gaze. Tsk, what the hell are these assholes looking at?! She clenched her hand into a fist.

"Seriously, can you believe how many people are staring at us?" Whitley exclaimed, scanning the room to see all the eyes fixed on them. The whispers were spreading like wildfire. These fancy folks were definitely intrigued by the Xiong family's newfound influence and the fact that they seemed to have a Schnee on their side. "Ah! It's a pleasure to make all of your acquaintances." He bowed to show his respect. "I am Whitley Schnee, the third child of Jacques and this is my business partner Hei Xiong." More whispers went around the hall. The bait has been thrown now all we have to do is let them bite.

A couple of influential families began to come closer to the group. "My, my, I didn't expect to see a Schnee here."

"Indeed, though I've heard that the current heiress is a student at this academy, she doesn't appear to want to meet any of us." Stated a noble. "It is very disrespectful of her not to show up and welcome us. Thankfully, her sibling appears to have better manners." That gained a few laughs.

"Please forgive my sister, she has plenty of duties so it's hard for her to come to these parties, you see." Ughhhh... I wonder why, just spending this little time with you bastards makes me want to delete myself. Whitley did his best to not show contempt.

"Haha! Of course, of course, but the rumors involving you, young lord, are of greater interest to us." The others, all of them interested, nodded. "They say, you own a dust refinement center, and that you have a private army as well, is all of it true?"

Heh! Already assessing my worth, huh? Typical aristocratic behaviour although I would do the same in their shoes. "Everything you've heard is accurate, and what's more, I and the Xiongs are planning to rebuild Mountain Gleen for the people of Vale." The aristocrats were perplexed by this, as for them that region had no value at all. "I understand some of you may be of the opinion that the area is of no significance. However, with proper planning and resources, it can be transformed into a business district. Furthermore, we have discovered evidence of the existence of dust crystals beneath the mountain."

As soon as they heard about the potential of dust mines, their interest was instantly sparked. The nobles were so excitedly chatting with one another because a realization dawned on them that if they decided to invest in this project, they could potentially become far wealthier and gain more prestige. Trivia was surprised at how easy it was for Whitley to win them over. This guy certainly has a way with words, hehe such a... a... w-what? She noticed several girls hovering around her employer.

A group of teenage girls swooped in on the young boy, each one rocking glamorous outfits and flawless make-up, as to be expected from high society women. "Uh... umm... h-hi there." Whitley stammered, his voice cracking. "I-I'm Schnee, ah no, sorry I-I meant I'm W-Whitley." The ladies erupted in giggles, finding his awkwardness quite adorable. Okay, what the actual fuck is going on? Girls usually run for their lives when I try to talk to them, not flock to me like a bunch of seagulls to a french fry... This was highly suspicious.

"Haha! Sorry if we scared you a bit." The leader of the group, a girl with beautiful floating purple hair, explained. "We just wanted to meet the guy everyone's been talking about. Gotta admit, I like what I see." She reached out her hand.

"I-I'm glad to hear that." He took her hand and delivered a gentle kiss. OHOHOHOHO! She's only interested in my money and power, but I don't care! This is my chance to finally have some breast fondling action! HAHAHAHA! A rather repugnant smile stretched across his face.

"My apologies, how rude of me, I forgot to introduce myself, I'm... uhhh." The noble girl and her friends noticed Trivia's menacing expression and the strong vibes of aggression she was giving off. "Ah, ahh, w-we have to go, sorry." All of them quickly ran away in order to avoid getting smacked in the face.

Whitley felt down. "And here I thought I was finally getting popular among the girls." Ahhhhhh! Why does this keep happening?! I just want to touch a damn boob, is that too much to ask?! At this rate, I might die a virgin again! Little did he know, it was actually his female friend who had been the one driving those women away.

Trivia scratched her head and wondered. W-Why did I do that? Why... did it make me angry when he kissed that bimbo's hand? This... this is just a partnership, that's all there is to it. She then looked at her friend, her heart racing as she recalled the moment he gave Roman the ledger that secured their freedom. Why do you keep doing stupid things! Her cheeks turned slightly red.

"Oh well, looks like we're gonna have to..." Suddenly, he noticed Ozpin peering at him from afar. "Hey Trivia, could you hang tight for a bit? It seems like I've got an important meeting with the Headmaster."

"Are you sure you don't want me to come with you? That old man is dangerous."

"Have no concern, it's not like he can get rid of me in the middle of a party, right?" Shit, I hope.

The party was in full swing, with couples dancing to the music and people enjoying delicious food. Meanwhile, Ozpin was near a balcony taking a sip from his coffee, when he noticed a certain someone approaching him. "I'm pleased you managed to come, mister Whitley." He spoke in his customary manner. "I sincerely hope that this soirée is agreeable to your refined sensibilities, as I have invested considerable effort into its grandeur."

"Drop the act." He replied. "What do you want?"

The old man was surprised by Whitley's boldness. "It appears you don't like to waste time, good, neither do I." Ozpin stared at the boy with a serious expression. "You and your friends have been quite busy, though I do not know your end goal, this ends here." He uttered those words with a menacing undertone. "Pack your things and go back to Atlas, otherwise your father might learn of your involvement in criminal activities. If such news are known in Atlas, your family's reputation will suffer." Whatever game you are trying to play, you will lose.

"Ha... Haha...Hahahaha!" The Schnee laughed, leaving the Headmaster confused. "Oh, pardon me, that was quite the joke. Do you really think I care about my family name? That's adorable." Whitley licked his lips, it was time. "Though for you to be saying that it must mean you have gathered much information about me. I do suppose that little crow of yours works somewhat fast."

Ozpin's eyebrow twitched a little. "What could you possibly mean by that?" Does he know Qrow? Or maybe...

"Oh nothing at all, but you should refrain from threatening me as you see I don't like being threatened." He casually rested against the balcony. "Not to mention I'm not the one you should be worried about but a woman by the name of Cinder Fall." That name sounded a bit familiar to Ozpin. "She's the one who attacked your precious Fall Maiden."

The Headmaster's eyes widened, as to how it was possible for such a boy to know about the Maidens. This is impossible! How can this child be aware of the Maidens' existence?... Perhaps he is an agent of Salem?!... No, such a spy wouldn't be stupid enough to reveal himself like this. Ozpin was having a hard time believing this. "You seem to have quite a vivid imagination, unfortunately, such fairy tales aren't true, I'm afraid."

"Sure, let's go with that." Whitley chuckled. "My point is that I am not your enemy, so if you stay out of my way, I will stay out of yours." He pointed out. "As for how I know all this, let's just say that my semblance is unique." Obviously, this is a lie, but at least it should keep him from doing anything to me and the others if he thinks I can somehow see the future.

"Hmm, although this was extremely entertaining, it seems I have to go now, but I shall think about our little conversation." Ozpin walked away, leaving the young man behind. Clairvoyance? That's the only explanation I can come up with, and if it's true, that boy's semblance could be very useful. As for that name, Cinder... I suppose I could do some investigation about her background.

Whitley suddenly felt something wet on his hands and, upon inspection, realized it was blood. I must have scratched myself a bit too hard. Well, it seems like I was more nervous than I thought. Just then, he heard a couple of footsteps approaching from behind, he turned and saw Trivia, who seemed somewhat concerned. "Hey! I think I managed to temporarily shake off that old Headmaster." He said with relief. The girl noticed the blood on his hands. "Oh, it's nothing. I just got a little too worked up and ended up injuring myself, haha."

Trivia without hesitation ripped a portion of her skirt and began wrapping the cloth around his hands. Whitley felt a little embarrassed though at the same time, it felt nice to have someone actually caring. "T-Thanks... I mean it."

If there's something I'm good at is treating injuries. She saw the boy's genuine smile, which in turn made her blush. Well, we are in the same boat, so we gotta have each other's back.

Meanwhile...

A couple of mysterious people were walking down a dimly lit hallway. They arrived at a set of main doors that were being guarded by two soldiers in peculiar armor. Although the emblem looked familiar, it was none other than the symbol of White Fang. "Let us in, we've got some urgent news." Both guards exchanged looks before proceeding to do as told.

When they walked into the throne room, they were greeted by a bunch of White Fang members, who were all elite soldiers handpicked by their High Leader to be her personal bodyguards. "Apologies, your ladyship, our spies have reported back from Vale." Seated on the throne was, a woman with a dark complexion and wild black, chin-length hair with an asymmetrical bob style. Her expression was of annoyance as she was in the middle of a meeting with other members. "I-It's something important that you should know this instant, my ladyship."

"Then speak, and be quick about it!" Sienna Khan said impatiently.

"Y-Yes! Well, the slaves that we were tracking to Vale have been saved."

"Excellent! Tell Adam, he has my gratitude."

The soldier gulped. "T-The thing is mam, it wasn't Adam that rescued our people, they were saved and delivered to our contacts on Vale by a Schnee." This caused a stir among the Faunus, even the High Leader was surprised by such news. "Not just that, but, the Faunus living in the Industrial sector are no longer persecuted because of him and their living conditions have improved quite considerably."

"Hah! A human aristocrat showing this much support to our people is extremely suspicious, and a Schnee no less." Sienna found this quite a bad joke. "Even so, if he did help, then he might become an ally we could use." And here I thought I had seen everything, hahaha! She found this amusing in a way. "What's his name?"

"Whitley, your ladyship."

Sienna smirked. "Perhaps I should meet with this Schnee and see what he is worth for myself."
