Green with Evil Rescue Part 2

The moon palace was bathed in an eerie light, with a distinct air of victory surrounding it. Rita Repulsa was in high spirits, dancing gleefully around her throne, her scepter in hand. Her bizarre entourage, Squat, Baboo, and Finster, watched her unsure of how to react but decided to join in on the celebration, eager to avoid her wrath. Finster, however, remained in the corner, clapping his hands in delight.

"Things couldn't be going any better for us!" Rita exclaimed, twirling and spinning with wild abandon, her minions struggling to keep up.

"I couldn't agree more, my Queen," Finster chimed in. Rita's abrupt halt caused Baboo to collide with Squat, sending them tumbling behind her. Normally, Rita would have berated them for their clumsiness, but this time she erupted in laughter, cackling uncontrollably before regaining her composure and sauntering over to her telescope.

"Those Rangers think they have a chance of defeating me," Rita mused, her laughter subsiding. She zoomed in on Angel Grove City, where Scorpina and Goldar were relentlessly attacking the Power Rangers. "Scorpina always brought out the best in Goldar," she commented, a hint of admiration in her voice.

"Yes, Scorpina is truly terrifying in battle," Squat added.

"Indeed, there's no one quite like her in terms of power," Baboo chimed in, earning himself an unsettling side-eye from Rita. He quickly squealed, "Except for you, my liege. You're undoubtedly the most powerful."

"Of course, I am. But my strength lies in having a powerful army, and all my warriors are performing splendidly," Rita gloated.

"And with the Green Ranger tormenting the Red Ranger," Baboo continued, prompting another bout of laughter from Rita.

"My favorite part! My fiercest warrior, the Green Ranger!" Rita declared. Squat and Baboo exchanged glances, aware that Goldar would likely object if he were present. "The Red Ranger doesn't stand a chance against the Green Ranger's power. It's only a matter of time before my brave warrior claims the Red Ranger's life, and then the Red Power Coin will be mine for the taking!"

"What would you do with it, my Queen?" Squat inquired.

"It would be the ultimate trophy – and one less weapon Zordon could use against me," she explained. "Let me check in on things, speaking of which." Rita adjusted her telescope's lens to peer into the dark dimension.

The fog in the dark dimension was thicker than usual, not just confined to the ground as it usually was. In the center of a circular dungeon, Jason lay on his back, struggling as the Green Ranger squeezed his throat.

"Not much longer now," the Green Ranger taunted, tightening his grip on Jason's neck. With his severe stomach wound and restricted airflow, Jason knew he needed to act quickly to avoid losing consciousness.

How had it come to this? Jason had been a good kid, excelling in school and teaching martial arts. He only used his skills when necessary. He had close friends and secretly cared for his mother after his father had abandoned them. Speaking of his mother, Jason hadn't seen her in a while. In his father's absence, she had spiraled into addiction and despair, lost and adrift.

Had she even noticed that Jason was missing? Would she be looking for him?

Shaking off those thoughts, Jason returned his focus to the perilous situation at hand. The Green Ranger was determined to end him. Jason's eyes darted between the Green Ranger's visor and his nearby morpher. That's all he needed. Summoning all his remaining strength, he thrust his knees upward, catching the Green Ranger off guard and causing him to flip over Jason.

"What…" the Green Ranger muttered, recovering from the roll and realizing Jason had grabbed his morpher. "No…" he whispered. "Morpher or not, your life will end by my hand."

"I don't think so," Jason retorted, holding up his morpher. "Tyrannosaurus." A brilliant flash of light enveloped him, transforming him into the Red Ranger. Despite his injuries, he felt significantly better, his wounds less pronounced.

"Let's do this," the Green Ranger declared, summoning his Sword of Darkness, now fully bonded with its host.

"I'm ready when you are," Jason replied, standing firm. A surge of energy surged through him, a sensation he hadn't felt in a long time. He had been found.

"This is the end!" the Green Ranger leaped into the air, bringing down his sword with deadly intent. But just as the blade was about to pierce the Red Ranger's helmet, Jason vanished in a flash of light, leaving the Green Ranger bewildered.

"No. No. No." The word echoed in the Green Ranger's head repeatedly. Jason couldn't have escaped, not on his watch. Rita would be furious with him. He slammed his fist down in frustration, letting out a frustrated scream. The Red Ranger's fate would still be sealed.

The light surrounding Jason faded, and he found himself back in the center of the command center, which appeared significantly improved from his last visit. He turned to see Zordon's tube still lifeless, a pang of disappointment shooting through him. He had hoped that Zordon would have returned by now.

"Ayi-yi-yi!" Alpha exclaimed, rushing toward Jason and embracing him. "It's good to see you, my friend."

"It's good to see you too, Alpha. You have no idea," Jason replied, returning the embrace and then powering down his suit, revealing his injuries.

"Jason, ay-yi-yi!" Alpha exclaimed, examining the wounds with a concerned expression. If Alpha could convey a grim expression, he would be doing so right now. "You're lucky you made it out alive."

"I'll take whatever luck I can get," Jason replied. "Alpha, where are the others?"

"They're trying to fend off Goldar and Scorpina," Alpha explained.

"Scorpina?" Jason said, alarmed. "She's free?"

"I'm afraid so, and we're not sure how. Rita had captured two of your schoolmates, but the Rangers managed to rescue them from being sacrificed," Alpha replied.

"She went after our classmates?" Jason inquired.

"Yes, Scarlett and Trent, I believe," Alpha answered.

"Rita really hasn't been holding back lately," Jason noted, his gaze drifting to his own wound. The Green Ranger had attacked him with his sword, drawing blood that had been used to summon Scorpina.

"It was me," Jason realized aloud.

"What do you mean?" Alpha asked.

"They used my blood to summon Scorpina…"

"Ayi-yi-yi-yi…" Alpha muttered.

"Why are they taking them on?" Jason wondered aloud.

"Tonight has been a long and unexpected night. The Rangers broke into a military base so Billy could hack the satellites and connect them to the morphing grid to find you," Alpha explained matter-of-factly, leaving Jason's jaw hanging open.

"They broke into a military base?" Jason asked, incredulous.

"Affirmative," Alpha confirmed. "While that was happening, Goldar and Scorpina launched an attack. Billy went to meet them, and the others followed."

"I have to get out there," Jason said, starting to rise from his seat, but Alpha gently pushed him back down.

"Not like this. You need to wait a few more minutes," Alpha insisted. Jason reluctantly complied and sighed in resignation.

"How long have I been gone?" Jason asked.

"A while…" Alpha replied cryptically, realizing that Jason might not be ready to hear the full extent of their absence just yet.

"The Green Ranger almost had me, Alpha. Toward the end, I really thought he was going to finish me. I didn't stand a chance without my power morpher. And even with it, I'm not sure if I would have made it in my condition," Jason admitted.

"Jason, you were chosen by Zordon as the leader and wielder of the Tyrannosaurus Power Coin because of your strength, both inner and outer. You'll soon realize that the Green Ranger doesn't stand a chance," Alpha offered, providing an unexpected pep talk.

"He's a formidable fighter…" Jason acknowledged.

"Ayi-yi-yi. He fights for evil. He's undisciplined, and that will be his downfall," Alpha stated confidently.

"You seem much more confident than I remember, Alpha," Jason noted, laughing.

"We can't afford any more doubt or negativity. That's how Rita wins. We pulled together and found you. Now, we will find Zordon," Alpha declared, and Jason found himself unable to argue. He wanted to believe in their cause.

"I think this is as good as we'll get it," Alpha said after treating Jason's wounds.

Jason stood up, feeling considerably better, and followed Alpha to the command center's main control room. Alpha activated the viewing globe, revealing the ongoing battle. Scorpina's relentless assault was evident, and her savage fighting style worried Jason. He could now understand why it had been so difficult to resurrect her. Whoever had imprisoned her in the dark dimension had done so with good reason.

"She's hurting them!" Jason exclaimed, watching Scorpina strike down each of his teammates with her signature weapon.

"Scorpina hasn't fully adapted to her powers yet, Jason. She's still trying to recover them. You can wear her out and force her to retreat. Rita knows that if Scorpina overexerts herself too early, she'll destroy herself. Rita won't allow that, and that's how you'll win this," Alpha advised.

"Not a bad idea," Jason agreed. "But I need to get down there now. Alpha, prepare me for teleportation." He raised his morpher and called out, "Tyrannosaurus," enveloping himself in a warm red light that transported him miles away to the heart of the battle.

He landed just above the fighting, his teammates scattered on the ground, clutching their wounds. Scorpina, her weapon in hand, prepared to unleash another attack. Goldar, recovered from his earlier injury, stood beside her, grinning at their apparent victory. Jason's fists clenched.

"This is the end, Rangers!" Scorpina shouted with venomous delight.

"Not if I can help it!" Jason yelled back, leaping from the building and summoning his Power Sword while grabbing his blaster with his other hand. He unleashed several laser blasts, most of which Scorpina managed to deflect, but one struck Goldar in the face, causing him to recoil and spew curses. As Jason landed, he swung his sword down at Scorpina, who blocked it with her weapon, though she couldn't stop the powerful kick he delivered to her side, sending her tumbling.

"Jason?" Trini was the first to notice, slowly recovering from her injuries.

"What?!" Kimberly exclaimed.

"Jason!" Zack affirmed.

"Welcome back, buddy!" Billy added.

Scorpina slowly got up from the ground, her eyes fixed on Jason with newfound determination. She smiled widely, a predatory gleam in her eyes as she licked a small gash on her arm, tasting the crimson blood.

"Your blood is my blood," she whispered, a crazed expression crossing her face. "I want more." Her eyes locked onto Jason, narrowing like a hunter zeroing in on its prey.

"Okay, and you're just a psycho. Good to know," Jason retorted.

"Like you have no idea," Scorpina agreed, slashing at Jason with her weapon. He met her attacks with his power sword, their blades clashing fiercely. Scorpina's combat skills were top-notch, giving Jason more cause for concern than he cared to admit.

"Feel my sting!" Scorpina declared, backing away and preparing to throw her weapon.

"Sting this," Jason replied, pointing his blaster at her chest plate and firing at point-blank range. She cried out in pain and collapsed. Jason seized the opportunity to turn and help his teammates.

"Jason… I can't believe it's you," Kimberly exclaimed, reaching up and hugging him so tightly it took him by surprise.

"It's me, Kim," he replied, and Zack clapped him on the shoulder triumphantly.

"The gang's back together!" Zack cheered.

"Just in time," Trini added as she got up from the ground. The Rangers, reinvigorated with newfound determination, stood behind their leader with their weapons at the ready. Goldar, finally recovered, stood beside Scorpina, his eyes locked on the arrival of the Red Ranger, almost in disbelief.

"It can't be…" he muttered under his breath, but not quietly enough.

"You didn't think you were going to get rid of me that easily, did you, Goldar?" Jason taunted.

"Your end is still inevitable, Red Ranger. Make no mistake about that," Goldar replied ominously.

"Jason, Scorpina is very strong, even stronger than Goldar," Kimberly cautioned.

"We don't have to beat her – in fact, I don't know if we can. But we can wear her out. She's not used to her powers yet. If we can make her overexert herself, Rita will surely demand a retreat," Jason explained.

"Then we need to move quickly because all of us are at risk of wearing down," Zack said.

"I have an idea," Billy interjected, touching his morpher and producing a small blue device that resembled a pager.

"What's that?" Trini inquired, her question echoing the collective curiosity of the team.

"It's a bit complicated to explain – but get ready, here they come. Keep them close, and give me an opening!" Billy instructed.

"You got it, man," Jason responded. "Rangers, protect Billy. Buy him all the time he needs."

"Right," Trini, Zack, and Kimberly chorused. Together, they moved forward, charging towards the menacing figures of Goldar and Scorpina.

"Excellent," Scorpina exclaimed with a wicked grin. She gripped her weapon and turned to Goldar. "Are you ready, my love?" Goldar nodded in agreement, and they both launched themselves at Jason, swinging their blades simultaneously. However, what they didn't anticipate was Trini and Zack intercepting them from either side, while Kimberly's arrows struck them with unerring accuracy. Jason and Kimberly then focused their assault on Goldar, while Zack and Trini took on Scorpina.

Scorpina's blades swirled dangerously as she tried to strike at Zack's Power Axe and Trini's Power Daggers. Despite her relentless attacks, she couldn't make much headway in harming either of them.

Goldar, on the other hand, was entirely fixated on Jason. When Kimberly landed a blow on him, it caught him off guard, making his fighting style more erratic due to his mounting frustration. Following Billy's strategy, Jason inched Goldar closer to Scorpina.

In a swift move, Trini leaped into the air and delivered a powerful kick to Scorpina, sending her flying backward into Goldar, creating the perfect opportunity.

Billy ran forward, holding a small device resembling a pager. He pressed a button and said, "Stega-Stinger!" A cable rope shot out and wrapped around Goldar and Scorpina, binding them back-to-back.

"What is this trickery?" Scorpina demanded.

"Kim, do you see that streetlight over there?" Billy pointed to a double streetlight about 20 feet away.

"Yes," Kimberly responded, her voice tinged with uncertainty about Billy's intentions.

"I'm going to throw this up, and I need you to shoot it with an arrow and pin it to the streetlight," Billy instructed urgently.

"That's oddly specific," Kimberly remarked, somewhat bemused.

"We don't have much time, Kim. This won't hold them for long," Billy emphasized.

"You can do it, Kim," Jason encouraged, placing a supportive hand on her shoulder. Kimberly exchanged glances with him, and her doubt melted away.

"All right," she declared. Billy raised his arm and tossed the Stega-Stinger device into the air. Kimberly swiftly nocked an arrow, aimed at the streetlamp, and released. The arrow sliced through the air and struck the device, pinning it to the streetlight.

"Morphinominal!" Billy exclaimed. The Stega-Stinger began to retract the cable, pulling Goldar and Scorpina into the air, where they struggled and protested loudly.

"Get us down from here!" Goldar demanded.

"As you wish, Goldar," Jason responded before turning to Billy. "You're a genius, man. I see what you were going for. All right, guys, it's time for the Power Blaster!"

"Power Axe!" Zack shouted as he hurled his weapon above him.

"Power Bow!" Kimberly called out, tossing her weapon into the mix.

"Power Daggers!"

"Power Lance!"

"Power Sword!" Jason leaped into the air, attaching his weapon, the final piece of their formidable arsenal, before descending ahead of his teammates. He locked onto Scorpina and Goldar. "Fire!" Jason pulled the trigger, and five beams of energy surged forward, striking Goldar and Scorpina precisely. The impact created a burst of energy and sent the streetlamp toppling.

After the dust and smoke had cleared, Goldar and Scorpina emerged, visibly weakened but still defiant. Scorpina's eyes glimmered with a sinister determination, but her labored breathing and worn appearance betrayed the true toll of the battle.

"You believe you've won, Rangers?" Goldar sneered.

"You can't defeat us," Scorpina added.

"We weren't aiming to defeat you," Jason countered. Scorpina looked at him, puzzled. Suddenly, thunder rumbled through the sky.

"Goldar, Scorpina, return at once," Rita's voice seethed with anger.

"But, my Queen, we had them on the ropes!" Goldar protested.

"Do not defy me, Goldar. Return immediately. You too, Scorpina. The Rangers will live to fight another day, but not for much longer." A hint of bitterness tinged Rita's voice, as she sensed that her plans were falling apart.

"I'll see you son, Red Ranger," Scorpina said with a lecherous grin. With that, Goldar and Scorpina vanished in flashes of golden light, leaving the Rangers and Angel Grove to regroup.

"Jason, I - " Zack, like everyone, was at a loss for words. All of the rangers were gathered at the command center in their civilian forms. Alpha walked around, tending to individual wounds as needed, but all were focused on their returned leader. Hearing Jason's testimony regarding his recent experience was chilling. It could have been any of them, and who knew if they would have made it like he did. Jason drank through a bottle of water that Alpha provided; this alone felt incredible to Jason, who had been deprived of all sustenance during his capture.

"He has to be stopped..." Trini said, surprising everyone, given her stance on wanting to save the Green Ranger before, likening his situation to Daniel's. "I'm not saying I'm happy about it, but he's too dangerous. And they came really close to taking one of us out."

"And Scorpina just came out of nowhere. Her attacks are brutal..." Zack said.

"And Jason's blood freed her?" Billy asked, all eyes on Jason.

"Yes," Jason said, staring at the ground. "It was my blood that freed Scorpina. They used my blood during my captivity. And she's blood-thirsty, that's for sure."

"Obsessed, even," Trini added. "I've never seen anything like it."

"Let's not forget that Rita's not our only problem," Kimberly said, all of them looking at her strangely. "You guys forget already? Not to spoil the moment, but the government...they're reproducing monsters."

"What?" Jason asked, flabbergasted.

"Oh yeah," Zack recalled, "Our corrupt government."

"You guys snuck into NASASA - I still can't believe you guys didn't get caught," Jason said.

"Well, that's not completely true," Trini said.

"Yeah, some guards found us while Billy was trying to reroute us. And let's just say…" Zack said with a smile and a shrug of his shoulders.

"Oh wow," Jason said, stunned.

"Yeah, it was really crazy actually. But we got through it with Billy and some new, crazy gadgets that he made us," Kimberly added.

"Oh yeah," Jason said, remembering the battle, "What did you use to detain Scorpina and Goldar?"

"The Stega-stinger," Billy replied.

"That's awesome, man," Jason said.

"Thanks – I'm working on more. We're going to need a lot of firepower with what the government's up to."

"What do you mean?" Jason asked.

"I don't know what's going on. We saw them with remnants of King Sphinx, Terror Toad, and some others. Like they were in tanks, they were hooked up to computers. They were being experimented on," Zack explained.

"You can't be serious..." Jason said.

"It kind of makes sense; government officials have made it clear that they feel very threatened and unarmed against the presence of Rita and the Power Rangers," Billy deduced.

"So, they're doing this why then?" Kimberly asked.

"To try and get an upper hand," Zack said.

"That's the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard. They can't control those monsters! They're pure evil!" Jason exclaimed. "We have to shut that down."

"I don't know that we can..." Billy said. "The government has been very against the Power Rangers for a while now. If their project suddenly becomes terminated, they'll probably blame us and become more of a problem."

"If they recreate King Sphinx and he levels an entire military facility, that wouldn't exactly be good for us either," Jason countered.

"Why can't things just be easy..." Kimberly said, shaking her head. Noting the change in morale, Jason cleared his throat and made an attempt to clear the air.

"There's nothing we can do about it tonight, but we should try and look into this further," Jason said, looking at Billy mostly.

"Affirmative," Billy said.

"Look guys, thank you so much. I'm sorry this happened, but you guys...you made me so proud to be part of your team. You've kept the world safe. And you guys risked your lives breaking into a military base to save me. Rita wanted me gone and we didn't let that happen. We also stopped Goldar and Scorpina tonight. This is a win for us. We need to revel in it. Because from now on, I feel like things are only going to get harder," Jason said.

"Yeah, today was really tough, but we did it," Zack agreed.

"Zordon would be so proud of you all," Alpha 5 added.

"Zordon..." Jason lamented.

"We're working on that..." Billy replied, sounding defeated.

"I know you are. If anyone can do it, you can. He's in good hands," Jason said. He then held out his arms and pulled everyone into a group hug. "We're gonna be okay, guys." For the first time in a little while, things felt alright and okay for all of them, and that's all they needed.
