Phantom vs Aliens: Hot Ectoplasma!

Chapter 19: What is this feeling?

After defeating Mandie, Danny flew back in the direction where his friends were, just happy the alien princess didn't chase him again. He landed and quickly phased them out of the trap Mandie put them in.

"Danny, you're okay..."Sam said in relief. "Where's Mandie?..."She asked, wanting to get even with her for what she did.

"She's on her way home...hopefully for good..."Danny said.

"Hopefully?..." Sam asked in confusion.

The ghost boy sighed.

"She swore this time it was all or nothing and if I won, then she'd go away for good..." He said, looking up at the sky.

"Is she really gone for good?..." Tucker asked after being freed.

"Let's hope so...but I kinda have my doubts that she'll keep her end of the bargain..." Danny said without looking away from the skies.

He had a feeling Mandie wasn't going to keep her word, given how desperate she got and how she cheated during their fight, so it made him cautious.

She seemed like the type to do anything it takes to achieve her ultimate goal. That made her very, very dangerous...just as much, if not more than his ghostly foes.

"If I see her again, I'll send her home with a broken arm!..."He thought bitterly as he and his friends left the woods to go home before they were late for curfew.

Elsewhere

After several hours of traveling, Mandie returned to her planet. However, she was not feeling furious over technically losing her groom again.

No...she was too confused to feel angry right now.

Her mind went back to what happened earlier.

She is no fool...she knows that Danny doesn't want her...and even then, he save her life.

But why?

"He doesn't want me...he made that clear but...he still saved me..."Mandie thought, feeling something strange. "What is this feeling in my stomach?..."She thought, unsure what this strange emotion is...only that it was linked to Phantom when he rescued her.

She recalled how it happened and how it looked when he saved her.

No one has ever risked themselves to protect her...outside of her family, that is.

The soldiers are one thing but Danny is not one of her soldiers or subjects...he made it clear that he didn't want her and yet, he still protected her, in spite of seeing her as his enemy.

That is what confused her the most.

"I don't understand him...What compelled him to save me if he doesn't want to marry me?..."Mandie thought, still feeling that strange emotion from earlier.

She knows that she adores that ghost kid...he was her worthy mate and she wanted to be married to him and raise a family...but what he did made her feeling something so alien to her...for lack of a better word.

She recalled his words from earlier and how they affected her in a strange way.

"Maybe... maybe I'm not like whatever your world churns out. Maybe that line of thinking is why whatever kooky universe you came from booted you. Regardless... go home and tell your people this world is off limits... like we agreed..." His voice echoed, making the alien princess feel less than happy, but not in her usual enraged way.

"He sees me as his enemy and yet, he did not end me. Such a thing does not fit with how the mightiest of my world act..."She thought as she pondered as it was almost unheard of on her planet as far as she knew.

Her people have been a war mongering race for as long as she could remember, since before even her mother was born. They always fought and worked to obtain more power and expand the empire, as well as maintain the Boudacian's place as the mightiest race in the universe.

A Boudacian warrior is always strong, proud and does everything they can to honor the empire, their ancestors and achieve their goals of universal domination.

Mandie was raised to believe this since she was young and worked hard under her parents training to become the mightiest warrior as well as the future ruler of the empire.

To their culture, the strongest survive and the weak shall serve and do as they were told. That's just nature.

However, now...a certain ghost boy with intense green eyes pulls a stunt that actually surprised her...and made her feel lost.

"He didn't even hesitate to pull me out. He... chose to spare me, even though ending my life meant he'd be rid of me..."Mandie whispered, recalling what he did and how he looked as he saved her.

She felt a blush form and for once it was not accompanied by a smile. She knew that she still wanted him for her mate but she also felt something warm in her chest as she thought about her beloved.

"I still lost... but I can't just get angry about it or mope around..."She thought as she recalled what she did to him.

She plotted to knock him out and take him back, along with continuing new ways to get her hands on him, but now she no longer feels like it. She recalled how he didn't even look at her when he made it clear he wanted her gone.

It... hurt but why?

"What is this feeling? And why do I still feel this way?..."She thought as she took a deep breath, her mind unable to let go of what happened.

She clenched on her chest, feeling her heart skip a beat at the thought of Danny.

She just had to find a way to see him again but maybe...for now...she'd keep her word and give him some space...for a few days that is.

Still, despite feeling strange, a part of her also felt hopeful too.

"Is it wrong of me to think that there's still a chance for us?..."She thought as she looked up at her ceiling, remaining silent as if the answer would come to her.

Still, she couldn't help but smile as she thought about the handsome ghost who captured her heart, even if he didn't want it.

Meanwhile

In the War Room

Mandie's parents, the King and Queen of Boudacia, were meeting with the court and discussing many matters.

Such as the upcoming invasion of Earth, the plan to expand the empire across this universe and plot a war to return to and conquer their old one...as well as resolving the matter of the crown princess's lack of husband and finding a worthy mate for her.

"How long are you two going to kelp prolonging this issue about your daughter?..."Roughred, a Boudacian elderly nobleman said, striking a nerve with the king.

"We're working on it!..."King Maurus yelled, looking furious.

"You two are aware of how this looks? In case you both forgot, you're daughter is already 16 years old and is divorced...twice if you count that incident with that ugly human with the ear on his neck..."Brawlla, a female general said, reminding them of the princess's "first" marriage.

"We do not speak of that incident!..."Milee said on behalf of her daughter, frowning at that reminder.

"The general means no disrespect, your majesties..."Brutis said, bowing his head to hide the amused smile on his face. "But a proper courtship should take place before the unthinkable should happen..."He reminded, obviously having himself in mind for said courtship.

Maurus groaned and decided to change the subject back to the topic at hand, by bringing something that had been on his mind lately.

"My daughter has mentioned that she has come across a suitor she is interested in..."Maurus said, getting attention from everyone and a jealous look from Brutis.

"Who is it?..."Brutis and a few others demanded and the King and Queen seemed hesitant to answer.

"Our daughter will not tell us who he is until proper preparations are met, only that he is powerful and has caught her eye. She also believes that he'd be a great benefit to the empire..."Milee said, angering the others.

"This is serious, we are planning to wage war on this universe and our old one and we need to make sure that your daughter is taking her duties seriously!..."Killiam, a military strategist, shouted.

"You remember the most important duties are to marry and continue the royal bloodline...right?..."Roughred said in a condescending way, not caring how angry his king and queen are.

Especially the king.

Maurus growled and his fur nearly flickered into flames but tried to keep his temper in check.

"Of course we remember, are you accusing us of forgetting something so sacred to our empire?!..."The King shouted, snarling like an animal against its prey.

"The next one who dare talk ill of my daughter, I will rip out their beating heart!..."He snarled, his eyes glowing red.

"Dear, calm down!..."Milee said as she tried to calm down her temperamental husband before turning to the court.

"Ladies and gentlemen, we will reconvene at another time..."The queen said, since she knew that nothing would be resolved today.

A few moments later

Once the court left, Maurus growled and slammed his fists on the table, breaking it in half.

"I can't believe this! What pretentious ingrates! Do they believe themselves to be the only ones effected by this banishment to another universe by forces beyond our understanding! If they continue any further, I'll have their heads!..."The beastly king shouted, teeth bared and wanting to punch something or someone in the face.

"Don't get worked up again, Maurus, I just ordered new furniture from your last rage episode and we don't have the world it was made from anymore..."Milee said in annoyance as her husband continued to snarl in anger.

"Be serious, Milee! Not only is our daughter hiding whomever her suitor is but she is blatantly avoiding her responsibilities and tradition! I'm almost sure that there isn't any suitor at all and she's just refusing her role to do as she pleases, like when she tried to usurped the throne of those trash eating squids instead of subjugating them like we originally planned!..."Maurus yelled before groaning.

"It would just be easier to engage her to Brutis and be done with it..."Maurus said and his wife shook her head.

"You know that won't work...she won't agree to that. Mandie despises him. Besides, he never beat her in combat, so according to tradition, he hasn't earned her hand..."Milee reminded. "Perhaps we should investigate whom this other suitor is...and if she really is pulling a trick, maybe we should consider another warrior for her..."The queen suggested.

Her husband shook her head.

"Milee, you and I both know that Brutis is both a general and the top male warrior in our army. He has managed to beat the champion of the Raan army, conquer great beasts and he persuaded some of the Boudacian noble faction to support our plans to repair the gains we've lost when we were transported into this new universe. Not to mention, he comes from the grand House of Forcivul. He's a proud Boudacian warrior and adding him to the royal family is just what our daughter needs to secure Boudacia's future..."Maurus said.

"And yet, he has never managed to beat our daughter in a fight..."Milee reminded, much to her husband's annoyance.

"So what? You and I were arranged to be wed and look at how we turned out..."Maurus said, reminding her of the fact.

"True, but you were the fiercest of our allies and you managed to beat me in our first spar as newlyweds..."Milee reminded in an almost affectionate kind of way.

Her husband chuckled as he recalled his first battle with his wife and looked away. Milee sighed and resumed their serious talk.

"No matter his accomplishments, the grand priest won't wed him to Mandie without her consent or if he legitimately beats her. That's how our world works and there are no shortcuts on this issue. Even nobles, generals and civilians know this..."Milee reminded.

"I recall..."Maurus muttered while his wife patted his back.

"Our daughter will be fine. She may have your temper but she is a proud Boudacian and will do her duty. She'll do what she thinks is truly right for the empire. Besides, unlike you, she's learned that going head first into battle isn't the only way to achieve your goal or get what you want..."Milee said with a smirk towards the end.

Her husband sent her an annoyed look at that crack but gave it.

"I must get some water..."He said as he got up, intending to have a talk with her later.

Later

After speaking with his wife, King Maurus decided to go for a walk to clear his head and calm his temper before he breaks anything else.

It was on his walk he saw his daughter, looking out a window, deep in thought.

"There she is..."The king thought.

Unknown to him, his daughter's mind was on her "suitor" and how she has been feeling about him since their last encounter.

"Perhaps mother knows something about this..."She thought as she needed someone to confide in about these strange emotions.

Before she could look for her, her father approached her.

"Daughter?..."King Maurus said, getting her attention.

"Yes?..."Mandie asked, snapping out of her thoughts.

"Why are you here?..."The king asked.

"Oh... no reason. Just... wondering..."Mandie said, being vague.

"About your mystery suitor?..." Maurus asked.

He noticed that his daughter blushed a bit for some reason...which surprised him...he never seen his daughter flustered since she was a child.

"N-No...just... enjoying the view..."Mandie lied.

Her father frowned.

"Mandie, when are you going to get married? Is there a reason you won't introduce us to this new suitor? Did he stand you up or something?..."Maurus asked, his own fur about to ignite into flames in anger.

His daughter sighed.

"No Father...it's just...complicated. I'm not sure what our relationship is..."Mandie said, resting her head on one hand.

"I mean...I know I love him and...he saved my life but...he acts like he wouldn't be happy with me...I know I was being quick but...I just know we'd be happy together like mother and father are..."Mandie thought as she tried to convince herself.

"I'm not sure things are progressing as I hoped..."Mandie answered, since that's the best way she can describe it to him.

Maurus sighed and had to be serious with her.

"I see you have your issues but remember, my daughter... you are the next in line of the greatest empire in the-...in our old universe. I know things... aren't so ideal, but I implore you... think of what's best for the empire... even if it's not what you want..."Maurus said in a serious tone to his only child.

Mandie looked to him, smiling.

"Thank you, Father..."She said.

Maurus nodded and walked away.

"Perhaps this will convince her to choose Brutis..."He thought as he left to go get something to drink.

Mandie, however, thought something else.

"I...wanna see him again...but I don't want to go yet when it's clear he's not so keen to see me again. But... I should at least... return the favor..." She said to herself.

Even if he still rejects her, she feels it is only right she does something good for him in return.

Plus, as she said, she still wanted to see the handsome boy who she loved again, that much is certain.

Meanwhile

On Earth

It was very late, almost midnight in Amity Park as a certain someone had just arrived into town.

Tired, cold, hurt and scared.

"Made it...now...I just gotta get to Fenton Works..."The figure said as she heard sirens of a passing police chase in far off distance

She just had to find Danny before it's too late.
