Getting Ready for First-Year Mission
James Iron was not having a good day, not one bit since last night during the Beacon Dance when he found Dante and Ruby being in the tower when they were pursing two criminals and one of them was Dante's twin brother.
"They were here... Ozpin, they were here!" James slammed his fist against Ozpin's desk in anger.
"We're very much aware of that! Thank you, James." Glynda rolled her eyes.
"Fantastic! You're aware! Now are we going to do something about it or should we just stay the course and continue to ignore what's right in front of us?!" James gestured out the window, and suddenly got a punch on the head by Garp.
"Will you cool it already, kid? The important thing is that nobody was hurt from the event and we know at least one of them from what Dante told us last night." Garp pointed out the positive thing.
"That maybe true, but I would feel a lot better if we know what Vergil and the enemies were doing." James groaned and rubbing his head.
"No use to beating around the bushes, Kid Ironwood." Garp chuckled.
"Will you stop calling me that stupid nickname! I'm not a kid anymore, and don't you dare hit me on the head like that!" James demanded with an angry glare.
"Not in your life, even if your dad tried to stop me." Garp laughed.
"Why must you always be like that?" James asked patting his swollen head.
Glynda couldn't help but laugh from the scene of how James is being treated like a kid even though James' rank is higher than Garp's, then they heard the elevator arrived and a ding sound.
"Come in." Ozpin called out.
Soon, both Dante and Ruby walked into the room together with the latter looking a little nervous with her fingers pressing together.
"Sorry it took so long. Someone accidentally hit all the buttons on the elevator on the way up here." Ruby explained.
"Yeah, who could've done such a thing…?" Dante rolled his eyes smirking.
"It was Ruby." Dante immediately sold Ruby out making her gasp.
"Don't worry, I remember how Luffy used to play with the elevator when he was a little kid back when used to visit Atlas and Kid Ironwood tried to stop him." Garp chuckled of the memories.
"He kept pressing the even when we arrived at the floors." James groaned of that painful and annoying memory.
"Thank you for coming, Ruby, Dante. How are you feeling?" Ozpin asked.
"Doing okay, Dad. Not a scratch on any of us, mostly and the bad guys were too scared to even stay for the music." Dante answered playfully.
"It would've been better if we actually manage to capture them." Ruby said.
"No worries, we'll get them next time." Dante assured with his hand roughing her hair a bit.
"Ruby and Dante, I feel it's appropriate to let you both know that I think what you did last night is exactly what being a Huntress and Huntsman is all about. You recognized a threat. You took action. And you two did the very best you could." James complimented on their work.
"Thank you, sir." Ruby smiled, feeling proud of herself.
"I always go for the extreme, and you know that." Dante smirked.
"Yes, you do and that can be a little scary sometimes." James admitted as he backs away from Dante a bit.
"Now, the general here has already informed us of the events that... transpired last night, but now that you two are rested, we were wondering if you had anything to add." Ozpin explained the reason why they're here.
"We'll try to answer them the best we can." Dante nodded.
"Was anyone else with the two introducers? Did the woman look familiar to you at all?" Glynda asked.
"Unfortunately, even with my amazing luck with women, I don't know a thing about that masked woman with Vergil, aside from a strong possibility his lover." Dante said rubbing his chin.
"I don't care if those two are even married, they'll get the painful end of my Fist of Love when I catch them." Garp pounded his fist in his hand.
"We do she was wearing a mask, and she never said anything to me. But I know she fought with glass. I don't think that was her Semblance, though. Her clothing lit up whenever she attacked." Ruby explained about what she remembers.
"Save for the glass, that sounds like the woman I fought the night we met Ruby." Glynda recalled meeting a woman with that skill.
"Embedding Dust into clothing is an age-old technique. It could have been anyone." James stated.
"Anything else you can remember?" Garp asked the little girl.
"The woman seem to be able to block bullets with one hand, she can throw fireballs, and somehow she made the spot on the floor I was standing on explode. I think that might've been her Semblance." Ruby explained on more of the mask woman.
"Good, we should be able to tone down on the search of people." Glynda believed.
"Wait. You think this girl is connected to Torchwick and the White Fang?" Ruby asked.
"It's possible, given that we've been getting some information about the certain things. It is something to be cautious of." Ozpin nodded making Ruby smile.
"When you put it like that, I heard an interesting rumor that something is going down somewhere in the southeast area." Dante mentioned with a wink at Ozpin.
"The southeast area? Isn't that the place where that old, ruined city is?" Garp asked trying to remember that.
"It is." Glynda nodded.
"Thank you for your cooperation, you two. Why don't you go and spend some time with your teams? You have a big day ahead of you." Ozpin allowed them to go.
"You got it!" Ruby nodded.
"We'll be going then." Dante waved goodbye as they walk to the elevator.
"And Dante." Ozpin said stopping the white hair boy.
"Next time if you wish to have an intense love affair with Miss Xiao Long, please keeping it to yourselves until it is done in the bedrooms." Ozpin advised.
"No promise on that." Dante chuckled before entering the elevator with a groaning Ruby.
(Teamn DDJM's Room)
"So, what do you feel like doing in a meantime?" Dante asked as he and Ruby walk to his team's room.
"I don't know, maybe we could play a board game." Ruby suggested.
Dante opens the room showing both of the leader's team in the room chatting with each other until they saw their leaders and quickly zoom up to them.
"What happened?" Yang asked.
Ruby just chuckles nervously while trying to get out the right words while Dante just looks calm and confident as ever.
(Ozpin's Office)
"Well, there we have it. We send as many troops as we can to the southeast, find out exactly what's going on, and eradicate any forces that stand in our way." James suggested.
"Oh, I love a little action. Let me add those fuckers and I'll give them Hell!" Garp smirked and flexes his arms a bit.
"Why must your answer to everything involve a triumphant display of military bravado!? You treat every situation like it's a contest of measuring di—!"
"Glynda!" Ozpin stopped Glynda from finishing that sentence.
"Well, James does and Garp is just looking for an excuse to punch something other than disciplining his own grandson." Glynda pointed out.
"Hey, I can be reasonable… Sometimes." Garp stated.
"But she is right, James. As much as I too would love to end this situation once and for all, we must remember that this may go beyond Vale. Beyond Beacon. And if this truly is part of some master plan for which we know not the final move, we mustn't be so bold. Nor can we risk the spread of panic." Ozpin pointed out.
"I have served you faithfully for years... but if you mean to tell me that your plan is to really hold the defenses, and wait—!" James was cut off when Garp placed a hand on his shoulder.
"Easy James, we know you mean well when it comes to the safety of others and the kingdom you represent. But you got to remember that you're a general, which you means you need to think more calm and clearly." Garp advised.
"Like how my father always say." James sighed.
"That, and to make damn sure that you're not using your Semblance too much." Garp poked James on the head with a soft metal tapping sound.
"Now, how do you say we approach this situation calmly?" Ozpin asked the Atlas general.
(Team DDJM's Room)
"And that's how the music went down." Dante finished the story.
"Wait, I thought we were talking about the meeting in the headmaster's office." Makoto confused of that last statement.
"We were, and I have to say you two handle that very well." Daidouji nodded.
"Yes, especially with Dante being the one doing most of the talking." Weiss agreed and looked at Ruby.
"Hey, I helped with mentioning about that mask woman's fight." Ruby stated.
"And you did good, at least we also have a way of knowing about the bad guys like their location." Blake said.
"You mean about the southeast area? I remember the tall old man mentioned about the old, ruined city." Ruby recalled that sentence.
"We'll have to see if we can go there on our first mission." Jotaro stated.
"Yeah, and that's a big if." Ruby sighed as she lays on her bed next to Weiss.
"I'm sure everything will be alright, Ruby. Oh, I know what will cheer you up!" Yang held up a cylindrical package.
"What's that?" Ruby asked.
"I don't know yet. Dad sent it to us. I thought we could open it together!" Yang answered waving it for Ruby to come and see.
"Ooooh! Something from home!" Ruby excited.
"Knowing father, he probably sent us something that he want us to share or a big letter saying how much he loves us." Daidouji chuckled as she walks up to Yang.
Ruby zooms around Daidouji and Yang until she wraps herself around the former reaching out for the package, and with a single wave motion Yang open the package with the lid dropping to the floor and something else dropped out to be long, black, and furry.
The long furry thing pops into the true form that is the dog all three sisters knew all too well, everyone else just looks at the dog with some confusion and interest in the dog as he barks hi.
"Zwei!" Ruby cheered.
"What the fuck just happened?" Jotaro confused.
"A dog literally came out of that tiny package!" Makoto gasped.
"You're saying their father sent a dog…!" Blake gasped.
"In the mail?" Weiss gasped as well.
"Who's a good boy? Who's a good boy? I miss you so much!" Ruby giggled with Zwei licking her face.
"Oh look, Daidouji misses you two! Give her some good licking!" Ruby passed the family dog over to Daidouji.
"Hey there, Zwei. Nice to see you again." Daidouji chuckled letting Zwei lick her hello.
"Oh, he does stuff like this all the time!" Yang smiled at the scene.
"Your father or the dog?" Blake asked hiding at the top of the bunkbed.
"How does your dad even fit your dog into this tiny space package? It got to be like a Semblance to do something this crazy!" Makoto guessed as she looks at the inside of the small and narrow package.
"You would think like that, but it's a special trick that our father picked up during his younger days when he attend Beacon with our uncle and moms." Daidouji explained.
"For real? Now that is something awesome, I want to learn myself." Dante interested in learning this trick for himself.
"Are you telling me that this mangy... drooling... mutt is going to wiv wif us foweva? Oh yes, he is, yes, he is! Oh, isn't he adorable!" Weiss became enchanted of Zwei's cuteness as she tickles his chin.
"Holy shit, the dog has melted the ice queen's heart!" Jotaro shocked.
"Oh, be quiet, you!" Weiss glared.
"Please keep that thing away from my belongings." Blake said.
"Why are you so scared of the dog? He's so cute!" Makoto smiled and petted Zwei's head which he doesn't mind.
"Let just say I had a bad experience with dogs years ago." Blake said looking nervous at Zwei.
"Would all first-year students please report to the amphitheater?" Glynda asked through the speaker boxes.
"Well, time we head out for you-know-what!" Dante excited with a smirk.
"But what about Zwei?" Ruby asked worry as Daidouji placed Zwei down on the floor.
"Look, there's a letter!" Yang pulled out the letter from the package after getting it back from Makoto and Zwei arrives in front of her.
""Dear girls, I've got to leave the island for a few days, so I'm sending Zwei to you to take care of. Enclosed is all the food you should need. Love you both, Taiyang."" Yang read the letter out loud and held the package in the same way that dropped Zwei where a bunch of dogfood cans on top of him.
"Okay, now that's shit!" Jotaro shocked in disbelief.
"Swear!" Ruby pointed her finger at the Joestar boy.
"What is he supposed to do with that?" Weiss asked.
Yang shook the package one last time dropping a single can opener that bounces off from Zwei's head who was unfazed of the tool and that got Dante laughing.
"Okay, now I really want your dad to teach me how to do that!" Dante interested in more of meeting her dad.
"Well, that settles it! Come on girls, Zwei will be here when we get back!" Yang walked out of the room with Dante right behind her.
"Yare yare daze, I'm not sure if I want to know what else your dad does." Jotaro sighed as he and Daidouji walked out of the room together.
"Oh, I'll miss you so much, we're going to be best friends, I can't wait to see you." Weiss said cutely to Zwei.
"Just you wait, we are going to have a great time together!" Makoto believed letting her tail smooth on his head.
However, the only one who didn't leave the room yet was Ruby as she looks down seeing the adorable face of Zwei. She didn't want to leave her dog behind being all alone in the room since he just arrived to send time with them, but she and her team are going to be gone for a week.
But then an idea came into Ruby's mind believing this will help keep Zwei from feeling lonely.
(Amphitheater)
Ruby enters the place with her black backpack before dropping it off with the other luggage and met up with her team just in time when the speech was about to be given out.
"Quiet! Quiet please. Professor Ozpin would like to share a few words before we begin." Glynda informed and moved for Ozpin to take the mic.
"Today we stand together, united. Mistral. Atlas. Vacuo. Vale. The four Kingdoms of Remnant. On this day, nearly eighty years ago, the largest war in recorded history came to an end. It was a war of ignorance, of greed, and of oppression. A war that was about much more than where borders fell or who traded with whom, but about the very idea of individualism itself. We fought for countless reasons, one of which being the destruction of all forms of art and self-expression. And as you are well aware, that was something many could not stand for. As a result, those who opposed this tyranny began naming their children after one of the core aspects of art itself: color. It was their way to demonstrate that not only would they refuse to tolerate this oppression, but neither were the generations to come. And it was a trend that is held to this very day. We encourage individuality, expressionism, and unity through diversity. As I have said, today we stand together, united. But this bond cannot exist without effort. Which is why today, while the rest of the world celebrates peace, Huntsmen and Huntresses will work to uphold it. As first year students, you will be tasked with shadowing a professional Huntsman or Huntress on a mission. Some of you may be taken out of the Kingdom for several days. Others may work within the walls for the rest of the week. But no matter which path you choose, remember to be safe, remember your training, and remember to do your very best." Ozpin gave his speech full hearty.
Dante and Ozpin met each other with a gaze with a nod from the adopted son.
