Phantom vs Aliens: Hot Ectoplasma!

Chapter 33: Friends? Part IV

Danny had arrived home, just in time for curfew and manages to avoid getting scolded by his parents.

He then went to his room and set up a video chat with Tucker and Sam, to explain to them what happened.

"So, I take it that things went well?..."Sam asked with edge in her voice.

Danny didn't notice as he simply explained how his day went.

"Yeah, it really was...we didn't fight or anything like that..."He said as he recalled his outing with the alien girl. "Mandie might be rough around the edges and be in need of understanding Earth social norms, but she was surprisingly okay to be around today..."He said before he noticed a disapproving look on their faces.

"Uh...you two okay?..."He asked.

"We're fine..."Sam said, not wanting to tell him what happened today.

She wasn't going to let him know that they had gone to the carnival to watch over him, only to be caught sneaking around by a stupid security guard and forced to leave under the threat of arrest for suspicion of stalking and they didn't want to risk them calling their parents over this too.

Tucker was still mad at Sam for dragging him around and almost getting him in trouble at the carnival.

"So, I guess you did have fun on your date today, huh Man?..."Tucker asked, earning a dirty look from Sam.

"It wasn't a date. We were just hanging out..."Danny insisted.

"Clueless..."Sam and Tucker both thought, practically in sync.

"I still can't believe you're even entertaining the idea of hanging out with her..."Sam muttered.

Danny heard this and sighed.

"Sam, I get that you're still not happy but I made my decision in giving Mandie a chance to prove herself...Plus, she's not that bad once you get to know her..."He admitted. "Especially when she's not wielding a flaming sword..."He added jokingly.

Sam glared at him, not finding it at all but the ghost boy continued.

"I know that she tried to kidnap me and threatened to invade the planet... but did you know she's trained in 17 diferrent intergalactic fighting styles or that she loves chocolate and cheese burgers?..."He said, since those were some of the things he learned about her today.

Sam just sent him a furious and still disappointing look.

"No, Danny, I didn't, because I never can get past the KIDNAPPING YOU AND TRYING TO INVADE THE PLANET part!..."She yelled at him.

"Sam, shush!..."Danny said, since his folks are still home.

He was glad that no one heard that, but sent her a glare.

"Are you trying to set off my parents on a manhunt?! I don't want them to learn I have a double life this way..."He said.

Sam frowned.

Before they could argue more about this, Danny suddenly heard beeping and felt buzzing too.

He pulled out his cellphone, that also had a new attachment to it, thanks to a certain alien princess who wanted to keep in touch with him, without him having to explain to his parents about his...interesting calls.

He noticed what seemed to be a text and it read. "Hi Danny...did I do it right? Call me when you are able to, mostly so I'll know I did not make a mistake..."

"That's oddly cute..."He thought, smiling a bit and his friends noticed.

"What's that? Is that from Mandie?!..."They both asked once they saw him smile, courtesy of the webcam.

Before they could confront him on this, someone interrupted them.

It sounded like Tucker's mother.

"Tucker! Are you online again!?..."Tucker's mom could be heard in the background.

Tucker panicked and immediately logged off. Danny then closed the remaining windows, ignoring the annoyed "Hey" from Sam.

He turned to his phone and decided to type the intergalactic phone number that Mandie had given to him. He figured that she just wanted to talk.

"You got it right..."He said as he typed the info that Mandie had given him.

Once he did, the chat began.

He called the number the message came from after pressing some buttons, he was able to answer the call just like his...friend told him to.

After a few moments, he got an answer.

"Hi there..."A flirtatious voice was heard.

Danny tried to ignore it as he spoke to the alien princess.

"Hey, Mandie...what's up?..."He asked.

"Oh, just wanted to follow up and make sure I did not make a mistake..."The alien princess said, though her tone indicated that she really just wanted to talk. "So, am I catching you at a bad time or are you free right now?..."She asked.

"She's being surprisingly considerate...I guess she really wants to prove herself and win me over..."He thought before answering her.

"I'm not busy right now..."Danny said. "So, outside of making sure it's the right number, anything else?..."He asked.

"Well, I guess I wanted to...well, I'll be frank with you...I really just wanted have more time to just talk with you..."Mandie said in a polite and calm way, which the ghost boy noticed.

"That actually sounded pretty endearing right now..."He thought as she kept speaking.

"So, are you able to speak with me now?..."She asked again.

The ghost boy noticed how sincere she was being and decided to indulge her a bit.

"Okay, I still have an hour before I have to go to bed. So, I have some time..."He said, pleasing the alien girl.

"Wonderful..."Mandie said, sounding happy.

"So where do you want to start off with?..."He asked.

"How about we start with how our day has been since we last saw each other...you go first..."She said.

Danny smiled.

"Okay, I guess that works..."He said as they began talking a little bit about everything, just to pass the time.

Meanwhile

At Sam's house

The angry goth girl had tried logging back on to speak with Danny, but either he turned off his computer or he was outright ignoring her.

She got upset and immediately called Tucker to complain about the situation.

"I can't believe this! That space case calls him and he just leaves us and yet he still insists he doesn't like her that way. I don't buy it!..."Sam complained loudly, wondering why he can't see the obvious.

"His hormones are more at work than he thinks..."She said bitterly. "I just don't understand why he's even bothering to give her a chance, a chance she'll take advantage of to kidnap him and then come back a few years later with at least one half-ghost super soldier!..."She complained.

"Why the heck is he even bothering hanging out with that crazy, alien princess who we know is a wanna-be tyrant who wants to invade Earth?!..."She asked, wondering what's wrong with their friend.

"Are you really surprised, Sam? Remember that he almost went steady with Valerie and she tried to kill him over a dozen times..."Tucker reminded.

"Don't remind me..."Sam said in exasperation. "First Paulina, then Valerie and now Mandie...what's next, is he gonna hit on Ember or date Kitty again but for real?!..."She questioned, wondering why her best friend (and secret crush) always seems to go for dangerous women.

"Danny says that he thinks Mandie can change and the worst she ever did was trying to force him to marry her, rather than kill him. In hindsight, I'm surprised it's not Ember he's asking out..."Tucker said, almost able to see the logic behind all the craziness

Sam growled.

"Do NOT joke about that!..."Sam yelled, not wanting him to encourage this poor decision. "The only reason he's even tolerating her now is because he thinks he owes her one for saving Danielle from Vlad's goons and that's it!..."She said.

"Maybe, but I don't think he hates her anymore..."He said.

Sam hated hearing that. Before she could yell at him, there was a knock on the door.

"Samantha Leah Manson! Go to bed right now or your father and I will toss out those depressingly droll poems you collect!..."Her mother could be heard on the other end.

Sam rolled her eyes, but begrudgingly complied since she knew her mother never made idle threats.

"I gotta go Tucker, but we are not done talking about this!..."She said as she angrily hung up.

The goth girl then went to her bed and began to sulk in the dark, more so than usual as she just knew her best friend was making a terrible mistake with that alien girl.

"Danny, I won't let her take you..."Sam said, hating Mandie as much as possible and wondering what he's getting himself mixed up with.

Later

With Danny

The ghost boy spent over an hour talking with the alien princess, a little bit about everything.

Right now, they were exchanging personal stories and personal opinions on stuff.

"Are you serious?..."Mandie asked, sounding amused by something.

"Yeah, I had to find another pumpkin and place the soul shredder into it and read the incantation too. It was the only way to reseal the Fright Knight, which actually worked!..."Danny said before he heard her laughter.

"Using a vegetable to vanquish your foes, now that's hilarious. It sorta reminds me of this one time my mother and I went laid out some bait to lure some beasts for a festival we were having... only to find out that the so-called beast who set it off was none other than my father..."Mandie said, causing the ghost boy to chuckle.

"Really?..."Danny asked, still chuckling.

"Yes, you see...he missed breakfast to get a head start on hunting and he got hungry. My dad is a mighty king and warrior but he does tend to get testy when he's hungry..."She said, making the boy laugh even more.

"OK, that actually sounds a lot funnier than my story, even funnier than the time my dad tried to make a faster way to cook hotdogs and ended up bringing them to life..."He said, making her chuckle.

"I see. I guess technology in this universe is more advance than I thought..."She said and the ghost boy was laughing with her until a thought didn't occur to Danny until now.

He's exchanging information with someone who kidnapped him and tried to make him her lover. Even more so, without her threats or short temper, he found himself enjoying her time talking to him.

"Weird... why wasn't this so easy with someone else?..." He thought as he and the alien girl kept talking.

"You know what Mandie? This-..."The ghost boy was interrupted mid-sentence as there was a knock on the door, alerting him.

"Daniel Fenton, what are you still doing up? Go to bed this instance..."His mother said.

"S-Sorry Mom..."Danny called back before getting under his covers and whispering.

"Looks like we gotta end our conversation here for tonight..."He said.

"Pity, but I understand that just means that we simply continue this lovely talk of ours for tomorrow...Pleasant dreams, Danny..."Mandie said flirtatiously as Danny heard her blew a kiss.

She soon hung up and the ghost boy sighed.

"That's gonna take some getting used to..."He thought, but chuckled as he soon went to bed before his mom decided to check back in.

He laid in bed, thinking back to the entire day he spent with Mandie and the chat they had just now, and how long it took.

About an hour and it wasn't even unpleasant.

It was nice.

A lot nicer than even he expected it to be.

Sure, Mandie did say some rather...intense stories about her training or battles with her own enemies, but she also had some rather fascinating stories and she even laughed at some of his jokes.

It's kinda difficult to explain but one thing was for certain, the hot alien princess was definitely making progress in being a lot nicer to be around.

Maybe she really IS changing for the better.

"I guess there's hope for her yet..."The ghost boy thought before going to sleep, unsure about the future, but happy that at the very least, he has one less foe to deal with now.

Hmilles02:

1) Sorry, no spoilers.

2) I never really thought much about it, especially since Dora seems to be an adult and much older than Danny.

3) Right now, she is working hard to earn his trust and friendship, so like he mentioned before, she has to prove he can trust her before he can consider even going on a date with her.

4) Yes but I can't say when just yet. I am still working on this fic and a few others.
