Disclaimer: I do not own Percy Jackson, the ATLA universe, or the first 9 ½ chapters. Because Benthatguy did a helluva job, and I wouldn't have ruined the live-action movies.

Percy moved through the window. Carefully using his water rope, Percy began his descent into the library.

With a thump Percy jumped the last few feet to the walkway underneath him, finally taking in the sight of the massive structure. "Wow, that's a lot of books," Percy said to himself.

"Why thank you. I'm quite proud of my collection." The voice came from behind the demigod. It sounded old and powerful. Percy turned around to see a massive owl towering over him.

The owl took a step closer to the demigod. "Hello, sea spawn. I've been expecting you."

"Are you guys sure you don't need a ride?" Aang asked the two firebenders standing a few yards away from a fully loaded Appa.

"For the last time, no!" Zuko snapped, sulking off to the side. He wanted so badly to attack the airbender, to capture him and return home, regaining his honor and his place at his father's side. However, breaking the truce so dishonorably was not something he was willing to do, even to capture the Avatar.

"Thank you for the tea, Iroh. It was beyond expectations," Katara said kindly to the old general while waving goodbye. Iroh had set himself apart from the rest of the firebenders in Katara's eyes to be one of the few exceptions from the Fire Nation, he was a good man.

"It was my pleasure. Stay safe!" Iroh called out, waving back.

"Don't tell them to stay safe, they're our enemies," Zuko hissed loud enough for everyone to hear.

Sokka wasn't a fan of that comment, which showed as he glared at both firebenders, mainly at Zuko. On top of that, he didn't like how relaxed his friends were around Iroh. They were still their enemies. One night of chatting around a fire didn't change that. There was a reason he was known as the Dragon of the West, and it wasn't for his fear-mongering tea-making skills. At least they still had a healthy dislike of Zuko.

Appa rose into the sky, his silhouette slowly shrinking against the rising sun. Back on the ground, Zuko began to gather up his and his uncle's supplies from the camp when a voice interrupted him.

"What do you think you're doing?"

"I'm gathering our things uncle. We have to move quickly if we're going to keep up with the Avatar," Zuko replied.

"The Avatar wasn't the only one outmatched by Azula. You're not on her level and you know it. We're staying here to resume your training," Iroh said with the stern mask of a teacher lecturing his student.

Only those that knew the general well could see the mischievous glint twinkling in his eyes, the look that made people run for the hills, not wanting to see the outcome of the man's craftiness. It was like a head injury. It was always hilarious when it happened to others, but never when it happened to you.

The exiled prince bathed in the warm glow of the sunrise for a moment before turning to his uncle, and for the first time in a while, he smiled.

Percy had Riptide out and in his hand faster than you could say, 'Holy shit, it's a giant talking owl.' The massive bird stared down distastefully at the glowing blade.

"There will be no need for that, half-blood. As much as I hate to say it, I mean you no harm," the owl said with a sigh. "I am Wan Shi Tong, he who knows ten thousand things, vassal of the great goddess of wisdom and knowledge Athena." Percy was pretty sure he recognized that last name from Mr. Brunner's Latin class, but he didn't remember anything else about it.

"Um, hi? I'm Percy, he who is talented with a sword, and I'm pretty good on the water, but I wouldn't call myself a boat," he responded, still not lowering his sword.

"Vassal, not vessel, you ignorant fool!" Wan Shi Tong snapped at him.

"Okay, dude. How about we calm down for a second, maybe a few deep breaths might help?" Percy said nervously as he tried to calm down the big bird.

"I am not a dude! I am Wan Shi Tong, the great spirit who knows all!" the owl declared proudly.

"Really? What's my favorite food?" Percy replied, fully nonplussed.

The big owl blinked at him before closing his eyes. If Percy had to guess, he'd say he was getting on the spirit's nerves.

"I don't know."

"What was that?" Percy grinned, having stumped the 'all-knowing spirit.'.

"I. Don't. Know," the giant spirit gritted out frustrated.

"So you don't know all then," Percy pointed out helpfully.

"No." If looks could kill, Percy would be dust on the floor.

"Well, just so you can say you know everything, it's my mother's blue chocolate chip cookies. Now, you know ten thousand and one things."

The owl just sighed loudly. "Just follow me and stay quiet," Wan Shi Tong began to turn his back on the young demigod before Percy's voice halted him.

"Yeah, how about no? I'm gonna need a bit more than that before I follow you anywhere in this creepy library. How did you know I was coming here? How do you know who I am? And what do you want with me?" he barraged the owl suspiciously.

"Hmph. Who would've thought, foresight in a son of Poseidon. I thought you all were idiots, even if you did call my grand library creepy."

"Didn't I just prove you wrong? I'm 17, man, I mean, um, owl-spirit-thing? Anyways, that doesn't seem like a good look for you. Even if I turn a blind eye to that, you're doing a terrible job of convincing me to relax and just follow you," Percy snarked. Secretly, or not so secretly, Percy might've enjoyed messing with the big bird just a tad too much. Only a tad though.

"While I may not like your father, he is a god, and when any god demands something of my patron and she complies, there is little else I can do but listen," Wan Shi Tong explained.

"Wait, you talked to my dad?" Percy asked excitedly. He would deny it if anyone asked, but the thought of seeing his father for the first time outside of a dream was too good to pass up, even if it meant dealing with an annoying owl for it. I mean, it had been 5 years since the last time he had seen Poseidon, and that still wasn't in-person.

"No, he talked to Athena, my patron. Did you even listen to what I just said? Or was my original assumption of you sea vermin correct?" The owl shot back impatiently.

"Kinda. Where is he then? I want to see him."

"That's not how this works, sea spawn!" Wan Shi Tong hissed angrily, not used to people demanding anything from him. "Now, follow me, or be left behind to wander forever."

The owl swept forward, gliding along the bridge towards the other side of the library. Percy let out a frustrated huff before following.

After walking past shelves upon shelves of books, the occasional grand archway decorating the path, the owl finally spoke again. "You're lucky, child. You will be the last person to walk these grand halls and see my vast collection of knowledge and leave it alive. I have recently banned humans from my great library," Wan Shing Tong said haughtily.

Oh, so you'll talk about your library, but not about something I care about, Percy thought, still upset that the owl wouldn't reveal anything about his father. "What are you, anyway?" he blurted out.

"Excuse me?"

"I mean, all the animals I've seen here are a combination of two things from my world, like an ostrich horse or a mongoose lizard. You're just an owl. Granted, a supersized talking owl, but still just an owl."

"I am no mere owl, boy. I told you I am the great spirit of knowledge here, not some simple animal."

"So, like a ghost then?" Percy asked.

"No! Nothing like a ghost. I am a living personification of knowledge you foolish child." The owl's face seemed to be getting angrier the longer Percy talked. He decided to not point out that the living being of knowledge didn't even know his favorite breakfast food. He didn't want to take a trip to the inside of the living personification of knowledge.

After another several minutes of walking in silence, they stopped at a door. It wasn't big or glamourous. Just a simple wooden door with a carving of an olive tree, an owl sitting atop a branch where the handle should have been.

Percy watched in amazement as Wan Shi Tong swept his wing over the owl carving, causing it to glow grey before the door opened inwards.

"In the center by the fountain, there's a table with books on. Your father picked many of them, I suggest you at least try to educate yourself." With that, the owl spread its wings and flew away.

Percy glared after his retreating form, thinking of many different things he could say to irritate the stupid barn owl the next time they met, grumbling something about rude owls and crappy explanations as he walked in the room. He couldn't see far into the room, but he could hear the sound of running water coming from within.

"If this is a trap, I'm gonna cut that bird into pieces and cook him like a turkey on Thanksgiving," Percy muttered as he moved further inside, the dull glow of the Celestial Bronze illuminating the room.

As he went closer to the center, he heard the sound of water gurgling before he saw the source. It was a fountain. Made of a big basin of gray sea rock, with a spout looking eerily like the head of a fish carved in stone. Out of its mouth burst a stream of water, a saltwater spring that lightly trickled into the pool beneath it.

On top of that, the water was creating mist, which, as far as Percy knew, wasn't normal. Fountains didn't just create mist like that. Looking down, he saw a message written on a very old-looking piece of paper, and it sure didn't look like English.

"O, Iris, Goddess of Rainbow, show me what my heart aches for," he unconsciously translated. "Wait, what? How..."

Percy never got to finish that sentence as the mist shimmered, turning into an image of, wait, was that his mom's apartment? The person who he saw there, however, forced him to drop both Riptide and his jaw. The sound of his sword falling to the ground rang throughout the room, filling the void once occupied only by silence. His eyes started tearing up, and after a moment of shock, Percy uttered the only word that occupied his mind, racing through his brain at a million miles an hour.

"Mom."

"It shouldn't be this hard to find a giant ornate library from the air. Maybe it doesn't exist?" Katara grimaced, peering out at the seemingly endless desert.

"Look, I just don't get why you care so much about some maps," Toph said, lounging lazily upon Appa. "If you wanted to know more about the Fire Nation, why didn't you just ask the crazy ponytail guy and Iroh?"

"Because they can't be trusted!" Sokka yelled, upset by Toph calling the enemy by name.

"Ehh... they weren't bad. Sure, Prince Pouty was a bit annoying, but his uncle made great tea," Toph replied, unfazed by Sokka's outburst.

"They weren't bad? They chased us around the world!" Sokka exclaimed, his face turning red.

"Sokka, calm down, we haven't seen them since and we probably won't again. Let's just try to put it behind us, it's okay," Aang said, ever the mediator.

"Hey, you stay out of this. I'm still mad at you for using my club for your earthbending training." Sokka grumbled.

For some time they continued their journey in silence until Sokka finally spied a tower protruding from the desert sands through his spyglass.

"Down there. What's that?" he exclaimed, pointing towards the object.

Aang snapped Appa's reins towards the oasis near the building, telling the bison where to land. The massive beast touched down, creating a small cloud of dust.

"What are sandbenders doing here?" Katara asked warily as she glanced towards the lone sand skimmer and its small crew waiting a few hundred meters away from the spire

"I don't know. They've been known to roam across the dunes, but all the sandbenders I had asked said they knew nothing of any structures in the desert," Professor Zei replied.

"Maybe they found it the same time we did?" Aang questioned uneasily, knowing that there wasn't a chance of that being true. It couldn't have just been a coincidence.

"I'm not sure about that. They're just waiting down there by the water. None of them seem interested in the tower," Sokka said, observing the small group.

"It doesn't matter anyway. It can't be what we're looking for. The building in this drawing is enormous," Katara frowned, holding out the illustration of the library for all to see.

Just as the young waterbender finished speaking, a fox carrying a scroll in its mouth crested the dune next to them. They watched dumbfounded as the small animal ran completely vertical up the building before slipping inside the window.

"What kind of animal was that?" Sokka mused aloud.

"That must be one of the knowledge seekers," The professor said excitedly. "We must be close to the library."

Sokka looked back at the illustration, his eyes widening in realization "No, this is the library." He exclaimed using his finger to match the spire with the tallest part of the library in the illustration. "It's completely buried." He finished dejectedly, the thought of coming so far and finding it only to be buried under tons of sand.

"No, my life's ambition is now full of sand!" Zei wailed, before pulling out a small hand shovel as his demeanor flipped on a dime. "Well, guess it's time to start excavating."

Toph moved forward ignoring the digging professor, placing her hand onto the stone of the tower. She felt the vibrations move through the structure, creating a clear picture in her mind. "Actually, that won't be necessary. The inside seems to be completely intact, and it's huge." Toph reported to the group.

"That fox-thingy went through a window. I say, we climb up there and give it a look," Sokka proposed.

"I say, you guys go ahead without me," Toph retorted.

"Why, you got something against libraries?" The waterbender questioned with a raised eyebrow.

"I've held books before, and I've gotta tell you, they don't exactly do it for me," Toph snarked.

"Oh, right. Sorry," Katara apologized sheepishly.

"I'll stay and watch Appa. I don't know about these sandbenders. They feel shifty to me, but that might just be all the sand. It's making everything kinda fuzzy," Toph said.

"Alright then. Toph will stay out here while the rest of us go inside and look around," Aang said, snapping his glider open and grabbing one end of the rope, flying up to the window so his friends had something to help them climb.

All of them were so focused on getting inside, none of them noticed another four sand skimmers cresting the dunes.

Percy blinked. Then he blinked again. Then he tried rubbing his eyes. Then he squinted and tilted his head to the side trying to see if a different angle would change what he saw. It was his mom, looking at him through the rainbow made by the fountain. She looked a little older, her hair was slightly greyer and the wrinkles around her eyes slightly more pronounced. However, her smile was still the same. Her eyes still held the same warmth, even if they were watering slightly.

"Percy…" Sally whispered his name like she was afraid he would disappear. Her voice snapped Percy out of his disbelief. His mother was here right in front of him. He rushed forward towards her, stopping when he touched the image and it blurred. He watched in amazement as the rainbow image refocused and he saw his mother. Although, this time, she seemed to be chuckling.

"Mom?" he asked tentatively, wary this might be some sort of trick.

"Yes, Percy. It's me. I know you can tell I'm not actually here. This is an iris message, kind of like a godly FaceTime call. Gods, look at how you've grown," his mom spoke, her voice breaking slightly near the end.

"But how? I thought you were dead?" He questioned before quickly backtracking slightly. "I mean, I saw the Minotaur crush you on the hill."

"I wasn't dead, Percy. Your uncle, Hades, kidnapped me. Your father quickly forced him to release me once he found out, so no harm was done," she explained to him. "Afterwards, he told me what he had done, how he had sent you away." Tears began to stream down her face. "I punched him in the face, and I think I broke his nose," she said conspiratorially, laughing a little.

"You punched a god in the face?" Percy asked, still stunned by the revelation that his mother was alive.

"You didn't think you got all your impulsiveness from your father did you?" She said with a raised eyebrow. "He had taken you from me, I was pissed. But he told me that you would be safe here. That you could escape the tragic fate nearly all demigods share. Is it true? Are you happy here?" She asked timidly, almost as if she was afraid to hear the answer.

Percy paused for a moment before speaking honestly. "Yeah mom, I'm really happy here. I've made lots of friends here. My two closest friends are the prince and princess of the nation I'm living in. I was raised by a nobleman who treated me like his own son. You'd love him, mom, he's kind and patient and loving. He's like the father Gabe never was for me. Also now I'm the bodyguard to that princess I mentioned." He said trying to reassure his mom that he was happy. He remembered how much she used to worry about him when he went off to boarding school.

"I really missed you though mom. And your blue chocolate chip cookies. I think I hate dad even more for making me think you were dead." Percy said with barely disguised anger and hurt. In all the years he had been here he had heard nothing from his father since that dream when he first arrived. It sucked to be ignored.

"Don't blame your father too much Percy. There are reasons he was never able to be part of your life." Sally pleaded.

"Every shitty father has reasons, that doesn't mean you should forgive them," Percy said darkly thinking of Ozai. Somewhere deep and dark within him, a voice sometimes whispered that he liked hanging out with Zuko and Azula just because they had an even worse father than him. It's nice to know he isn't the only one with bad luck.

"Percy, your father loves you, that's why he sent you away. He wanted to keep you safe." Sally said kindly trying to reason with her son.

"He's a god and he left us alone for years without any help. He left us with fucking smelly Gabe." Percy said rage entering his voice.

"Your father helped us in more ways than you know Percy. And Gabe was my fault, not your father's. I married him to keep us safe, your nickname for him was truer than you know. His bad smell helped hide us from the monsters that would have tried to kill you." She explained to him.

Percy was shocked. Smelly Gabe was his fault. His mom had put up with that asshole just for him. "Mom. I'm so sorry, you never had to do that for me." He choked out. "I'm so sorry-"

"Percy, that's not your fault, it was my decision. I would do it over again a 1,000 times if it kept you safe. I love you, you're the most precious thing in the world." Sally interrupted his apology. "Just as your father loves you too. It's why he sent you here. To keep you safe."

"Then why hasn't he tried to talk to me since I've been here or ever visit us?" Percy retorted.

"Long ago your father swore an oath to never sire anymore half-blood children. You are the result of that broken oath, the only way he could keep you safe from his family was by staying away." Sally explained.

"So I'm a mistake, he tried to hide away?" Percy said sadly.

"No Percy you're not a mistake. Both your father and I love you and regret nothing."

"Then why hasn't he tried to talk to me since I was sent here?" He questioned.

"Gods aren't meant to interfere with the lives of their children. Back home he may have had more leeway in this, he was always good at bending the rules, but with you so far away it's basically impossible for him to take any direct action in your life." Sally said calmly. "Who do you think directed you here? He had to ask Athena for help to set this. So we could speak again, and trust me, Percy, if your father was willing to ask Athena for help then he must really love you." She said with a wry grin.

Percy sighed, he didn't want to keep talking about his father. It was an uncomfortable topic for him to say the least. He had Piandao, Poseidon had lost his chance to connect with him. "How are you doing mom?"

She smiled warmly. "I'm doing fine honey. I went back to school, I'm writing more and I'm going to get married soon. I think you would like him, his name is Paul. Paul Blofis."

"What happened to smelly Gabe?" Percy was a little surprised but if this Paul guy made his mom happy then good, she deserved all the happiness in the world.

"Oh, it was so tragic. Who would have thought I would lose a second love to the sea?" Percy's mother said sarcastically with a slightly malicious twinkle in her eye.

Percy laughed, a little unsure how he should feel about his mom maybe killing someone. Then he remembered it was smelly Gabe and he was cool with it. "Does your soon to be husband know how dangerous it is to mess with you yet?" Percy questioned with a smirk.

"Not exactly, but I doubt Paul needs to worry about that. He's a sweet guy and I'm sad that he never got to meet you." Sally said sadly

"I miss you too mom." Percy understood what his mother meant. "Is there any way I could visit you or see you again?" He pleaded.

"Percy I told you that this is called an Iris message. It is hard speaking to someone in an entirely different world so you must listen. If you want to talk to me, you have to toss a drachma through the mist and say this; O Iris, goddess of the rainbow, accept my offering. Show me Sally Jackson" His mother explained to him.

"What's a drachma?" Percy questioned as he gazed upon his mother soaking in every word.

She pointed at the fountain. Percy looked downward at the bottom of the pool, golden coins shimmered - nearly 50 or so in total. "Make sure to grab those drachma so we can talk again."

Percy didn't need to be told twice, the chance to talk to his mother wasn't something he'd ever pass on. He opened his coin pouch, carefully putting each drama within before returning it to his bag.

"Talking like this is extremely difficult because we are so far apart. You'll probably only be able to contact me once a year." Sally sobbed a little at the end.

"Hey, hey mom it's gonna be okay. I haven't seen you in over five years. Talking to you just once a year is a huge thing for me. I will guard these drachma with my life. I will speak to you again." He spoke calmly, reassuring his mother.

She breathed out as she stared at him. "I love you, Percy. You've grown up so much it's hard not to wonder how much I've missed out on your life. I don't think we have much longer left." She said as the image began to slowly deteriorate. "Don't forget Percy, your father loves you and is watching. And I love you more than you can imagine. I just want you to be happy, my son. I love you, never forget that." With that final goodbye, Sally's image faded away.

"I love you to mom," Percy whispered to the empty room.

Percy stood there for a long time trying to soak in what had just happened. His mom was alive. And maybe his dad wasn't as much of a dick as he thought he was. Percy glanced finally glanced at the table beside the fountain.

His eye caught on the spine of the top book resting atop the table. He walked closer and picked up the top book, reading the title aloud, "The Guide to Understanding Demigods." Percy's curiosity was piqued.

Percy sat down on the chair as he began to read. 20 minutes passed before Percy got to some useful information. 'Demigods are the children of gods and mortals. They are not wholly mortal nor are they fully gods. They occupy the space in between, acting as the bridge between the mortal and godly worlds. This often makes them outcasts in both worlds. They are not immortal thus looked down upon by many immortals as nothing more than pawns to be used. They are also not fit for life amongst mortals. They are born with highly tuned battle instincts as well as enhanced physical attributes. They are capable of processing massive amounts of information at ridiculous speeds making them the perfect warriors.

'Many demigods possess specialized abilities depending on their godly parent (See chapter index for details on each specific god and their children)' Percy quickly flipped through the book to the chapter on Poseidon.

'Poseidon is the Lord of the Seas. The second eldest son of Kronos and Rhea. The Stormbringer, the Earthshaker, King of Atlantis, and father of horses. There are a wide variety of powers children of Poseidon may inherit. All of his cyclops children have complete immunity to fire and heat, many of his demigod children exhibit this power to a lesser degree. The most common power his demigod children show is dominion over water. For example, the ability to breathe underwater, perfect bearings at sea, the ability to control sailing ships, and hydrokinesis. Hydrokinesis is the divine authority over water in all forms and states of matter. Many children of Poseidon take this ability further by using water to strengthen themselves, as well as heal them. It is not unheard of for their hydrokinesis to be accompanied by cyrokinesis (The ability to control ice) due to ice being simply another form of water. Master of hydrokinesis can pull water out of their surroundings and even generate it from nothing.'

'Only a select few children have shown the powerful abilities of Poseidon, atomkinesis, and geokinesis. It isn't known if it is only unlocked by his strongest children through extensive training or a blessing of Poseidon. Due to his control of the weather over the seas, Poseidon can create fierce hurricanes as well as clear skies for sailors as he wished depending on his mood. Atmokinesis is the ability to create and direct such storms like hurricanes.'

'No children of Poseidon have yet to show his rarest ability, electrokinesis. Being the god of violent storms, Poseidon can direct lightning though nowhere near the same extent or control as his brother Zeus. This ability has never been shown and most likely never will unless through a combination of extreme talent and training.'

'Being the God of Earthquakes, Poseidon has the ability to generate earthquakes. Due to this, Poseidon is frequently referred to as "The Earthshaker". Geokinesis enables the user to create powerful earthquakes, ripping the earth apart. Extremely destructive, the ability has only been shown by Shen Lun, a roman demigod who caused the great earthquake of 1906 in San Francisco.'

Wow. I can do all that. So that's what Poseidon meant when he told me that I was never just a waterbender, despite what people would say. This is crazy, I thought bloodbending was pushing the limit but there's so much I can still do. Percy thought to himself in awe. Before he could read any more of the book a loud crash distracted him. What was that?

Then the entire library began to shake. Percy jumped to his feet, quickly shoving the book in his bag. He dashed out of the room, double-checking that the bag of drachmas and gold was secure. He sprinted towards the area that the noise was coming from along with the tremors. The source of the disturbance soon came into sight. Percy watched as Wan Shi Tong chased a familiar-looking girl in blue robes with a lemur on her shoulder. Only the owl's face was starting to look less like an owl and more like a feathery pissed serpent/dragon owl spirit thingy.

Percy did the only thing anyone would do if they saw a giant douchebag spirit attack a defenseless girl. He jumped off the bridge he was standing on and smashed both his armored fists into the owl's head. He quickly rolled off the head of the stunned spirit, drawing Riptide and standing next to the girl.

"You." The young girl said in shock. "What are you doing here?" She questioned him.

Percy turned his head slightly, finally getting a good look at the girl. It was the Avatar's waterbender friend. "What am I doing here? The hell are you doing here?" Percy asked, stunned.

Before she had a chance to answer Wan Shi Tong rose to his full height, staring them down. His black eyes were full of rage. "This does not concern you half-blood. Leave now or you will share her fate." The spirit threatened.

"Look dude we may not get along, but I'm not just gonna let you turn her into owl pellets. Back off or I'll cut you into super-sized McNuggets." Percy retorted tightening his grip on Riptide.

"Your father may have made a deal with Athena to give you access but I've had enough of you. He can't protect you here!" The spirit lunged forward, his razor-sharp beak plunging towards Percy. The swordsman gripped his blade tightly with both hands as he batted Wan Shi Tong's beak away. The force of the strike caused Percy to stumble slightly.

"Look we gotta get out of here," Percy called out over his shoulder as he continued to fend off the angry spirit.

"We can't leave yet, Aang and Sokka are still in here. And I lost professor Zei" Katara replied.

"Then go find them!" Percy snapped at her. "I'll keep tall, black, and hooting busy for a while." Percy quickly switched to more offensive tactics using the water from his back to strike at the spirit with whips, keeping him away.

After what seemed like ages of fighting the overgrown rat trap, Percy finally saw the Avatar and his friends flying up towards the top window of the tower. Unfortunately, Percy wasn't the only one who saw them. Wan Shi Tong beat his wings at the trio creating a massive gust of air that knocked them away; they fell into a heap a few meters behind him.

"Where's this professor guy?" He called out, only seeing three teens.

"He told us to leave him," Katara answered, winded from her fall.

"I grow tired of your interference, sea spawn." The owl's face growled before launching his body forward at terrifying speeds, razor-sharp beak leading. Percy was barely able to knock him off course with Riptide. With the owl's momentum broken Percy called not only his water but Katara's as well pulling it into a massive watery hand.

"Here's the thing jackass, I don't need my father to protect me. Shoo." Percy bitch slapped the oversized bird into a pillar before using his water to freeze him in place.

"Come we gotta get out of here. That won't hold him for too long." Percy announced as he charged for the rope suspended from the top of the tower. The same rope the Avatar and his friends must have used to descend into the library.

Percy never thought he would be grateful for the rope climbing they were forced to do in gym class. He could almost hear all his previous gym teachers screaming at him to go faster. "Move it, Jackson, I've seen senior citizens climb faster than that." The voice of Mr. Lang screamed to scream in his ear. Not that he needed it, nothing motivates quotes like a rapidly sinking library and a rude giant owl spirit.

He watched as the Avatar and his friends passed him flying in slow circles to gain altitude. It must have been difficult to fly with so many people. Percy thought to himself, noticing how much more slowly they went compared to the other times he had seen the tattooed child fly.

An ear-splitting screech derailed Percy's thoughts. He looked down to see Wan Shi Tong had broken through the ice and was quickly approaching. Percy gulped and started climbing faster, he was so close only a few more feet and he would be able to jump for it. But it was too late. Percy could hear the spirit right behind him. He turned his head just in time to see the owl open its beak wide enough to bite him in two.

Percy closed his eyes, taking a deep breath and letting his instincts take over. He reached out with his senses for the spirit. Wan Shi Tong jerked to a halt midair like he had slammed into a brick wall. A flick of Percy's hand and the owl was blasted backward like he was shot out of a cannon, hitting the floor with a thud below. Percy closed his eyes and said a quick prayer to his dad. He wasn't sure the spirit would have blood to bend, even if he was just an overgrown animal. He hauled himself up the rest of the way and out the window. He tucked and rolled as he hit the sand below to keep himself from breaking anything.

He could hear the Avatar asking the blind earthbender where his bison was and see her shaking her head sadly. Percy breathed out a sigh of relief at his own sandbenders still down by the water staring at the commotion. The bartender had been right about these men, it had probably saved his life.

"How could you let them take Appa?! Why didn't you stop them?!" Aang yelled at the earthbender.

"I couldn't, the library was sinking and you guys were still inside and-" She defended herself before Aang cut her off.

"You could have come to get us! I could have saved him!" The Avatar's anger continued to build and Percy got ready to intervene if this got out of hand.

"I can hardly feel any vibrations out here. The sandbenders snuck up on me and there wasn't time for-"

"You just didn't care!" Aang finally snapped, stepping right up into Toph's face.

"Aang stop it. You know that's not true. She saved our lives."

"What the hell were you guys doing in there? The library started sinking and you guys took forever to come out!" Toph questioned angrily at them.

The Avatar's anger swiveled in a heartbeat. "This is, even more, your fault!" Aang yelled stalking towards Sokka. "You kept us all inside just so you could find your fucking eclipse time and now Appa's gone! How are we gonna get out of the desert alive?!"

Percy's eyes widened at the airbender's remarks, he didn't think that the kid would start swearing at his friends. He decided he had heard enough of their bickering and spoke up. "Look my sandbending crew is still here, there's enough room you guys can come with me."

Percy's remarks went unheeded by Aang and Sokka who were in each other's faces,

Sokka had quickly gotten over Aang's words and defended himself. "Hey, we needed that information! We need information on the Fire Nation to win this war and I got it! We'll get Appa back; they won't hurt him.

"They muzzled him and dragged him away. I don't think it's gonna be that easy," Toph spoke up. It was the wrong words to say to an enraged Avatar.

"THEY MUZZLED APPA?!" The Avatar roared before his eyes and tattoos flashed white and began glowing. An air sphere formed around the Avatar as the sand began whipping about.

"Look dude clear out Aang's going off." The Water Tribe warrior yelled at Percy as he began booking it away with his friends.

Percy didn't run from anything. He set his feet and brought down a wave of water from the oasis onto the Avatar. The Avatar's focus quickly shifted to Percy. Percy watched the Avatar begin rising back into the air and readied himself before he was blasted backward, skidding over sand.

Okay, maybe I should've run. He got to his feet quickly, watching the Avatar warily. He was completely airborne now, the sand whipping around him in a frenzy. Percy made out glowing eyes looking in his direction before another airblast sent him flying.

He sailed backward again, leaving a small trench in the sand. He rose to his feet with a groan, spitting sand out of his mouth. "Okay you can cut that shit out I'm not enjoying it." The only reply he received was the wind whipping about even faster, he could barely see his own hands through the sandstorm.

The Avatar was really going to kill him in his temper tantrum over his pet. Percy squinted but he couldn't make out a thing with the sand whipping about. If he didn't stop the Avatar now, he would likely end up destroying the only sand skimmer left and his crew. Percy would likely die of thirst trying to make it out of the desert if that happened. He had not come this far to be beaten by a possessed bald monk.

The oasis water was just a few steps behind him now. He could feel its tremendous and unnatural power flow through his veins. Guided by his instinct, he jumped headfirst into the lake. Immediately everything quieted to him, no winds or sand whipping around him at the bottom of the lake as Percy focused. He understood what his father had said to him all those years ago. Percy wasn't just a waterbender, he was the son of the Stormbringer and Earthshaker. He could do more.

Percy concentrated so hard that something inside him cracked - as if a crystal ball had shattered in his stomach. Warmth flowed through him as he felt a new strength course through him. Thunder rumbled.

( - )

Katara huddled beneath the earthen dome Toph had managed to erect for them. The wind howled outside and sand whipped across their protection. She could see Toph desperately trying to keep the dome intact. Sokka huddled inside with her, all of them powerless to the raging Avatar outside. Then over the sound of the wind, thunder boomed. The sand pelting their protection stopped as even the wind lessened from its howling crescendo.

"Toph can you make a small opening? I need to see what's going on," Katara called to her friend. Toph nodded before slowly creating a small peephole for her. Katara cautiously peered outside.

She could see Aang now without the sand blocking out everything. He was hovering nearly 10 ft above the ground, encased in an air sphere, but the Avatar's attention was focused on something else. She followed Aang's gaze, toward the oasis water. Standing on the surface of the lake was Percy. Arms crossed, looking straight at Aang.

( - )

The sky thundered louder as it fought against Percy, there wasn't supposed to be storm clouds over the desert of death. Percy could just barely see the sandbenders in his peripheral vision. Jaws dropped in shock, any sort of storm should've been impossible. But Percy was always the one unpredictable chess piece. The piece that stepped in at just the wrong moment and cost you the battle - or turned the tide and brought victory, depending on whose side you were talking about.

He closed his fist as he bent the weather to his control. The oasis water felt so much different, it felt like he'd just guzzled down a red bull. He felt powerful. Huge black storm clouds began to form, blotting out the sun as thunder grew louder. And in the Si Wong desert that hadn't been touched by rain in eons. It began to pour. It wasn't a storm that slowly built. It was all at once, water cascading from the heavens to the desert below.

Percy could feel it now. He could feel it all. There was water everywhere around him. In the sky, the water in people's bodies, even miles beneath the desert sands which were quickly turning to mud.

He stared down the Avatar as he exerted his newfound power. Not just the water, but the storm. The wind picked up, circling him in a cyclone. Gusts of wind whipped around him, sending his clothes into an erratic dance. Clouds made of water and air swirled around him, winds so powerful they buffeted the surface of the lake and the sand for a forty-yard radius.

He flung his arms out to the sky dramatically, calling upon even more. Pure power seemed to leak off the demigod. Lightning began to flash around him, lighting up the darkened sky. The pounding rain transformed into chunks of ice. An avalanche of hailstones fell from the sky. A massive lightning bolt dropped from the sky to his right, turning the sand to glass.

It wouldn't be until later that Percy realized he wasn't standing on the lake anymore. He was hovering above it, wrapped in his own personal hurricane. Complete with 150 mph winds, lightning raining from the sky, and hail that could puncture Fire Nation tanks.

The Avatar hadn't just been watching the display the whole time. He too hovered inside his own air sphere off the ground. Except now fire and earth spun around inside as well, controlled by his might as he remained untouched by the hail raining from the heavens.

The Avatar reached out with his hand calling the water to him. Percy watched this movement with narrowed eyes. Hell. No. The water was his to command, nobody else could take it from him.

The Avatar pulled back his hand, pure shock radiating across his glowing face as the element he had mastered in hundreds of lifetimes refused his call.

Percy and the Avatar locked eyes, staring each other down. Both incredible manifestations of destruction. Percy, a force of nature. The Avatar, a spirit of power. No words were said as the earth seemed to shake under their power.

And then Percy raised his sword.

Thunder boomed and then a bolt of lightning descended from the storm clouds, so big and bright it blotted out everything.

Percy raised Riptide instinctively, the lightning striking his sword as he channeled it through his blade and body to the Avatar. Grunting at the electric power flowing through him.

The Avatar never saw it coming. The lightning detonated on contact with his elemental sphere. A billion volts of electricity fighting against air, earth, and fire. The Avatar's elemental sphere resisted the attack for a few seconds before a shockwave of force erupted from the reaction. The Avatar was sent plummeting to the sands below.

( - )

Katara huddled beneath the dome as the storm raged around them. Katara was scared, the Avatar state was terrifying and from the sounds of it, Percy was its target. Then even in the darkness of the shelter, she was blinded by a brilliant flash of light. Then it became quiet. After a few minutes, Toph slowly brought down the barrier around them. The smell of ozone filled the air. They slowly looked outside. The former oasis looked like a bomb had gone off. Trees were tossed around like toys and the desert sand was more like mud. The lake had an entire dome around whoever was inside. Aang was nowhere to be found.

( - )

Aang stirred slowly. His head hurt, he left like he'd been trampled by a herd of camel elephants.

"Easy there."

Aang looked up and saw Percy, the Fire Nation warrior sitting beside him. He rubbed his head as he sat up. It took him a second before noticed he was sitting on water like it was solid ground. "Woah how are you doing that so easily?" Aang questioned.

Percy shrugged nonchalantly, "I am the water and the water is I."

Aang shook his head at the remark as he peered around. He was sitting on top of the lake and there was an entire water barrier around them. "Where are my friends?" He questioned.

Percy just pointed outside the barrier, "They're out there, I figured we should talk first."

"What happened?" Aang questioned.

Percy winced, "Your bison got stolen, you kinda went off on your friends before you started glowing and started making a giant sandstorm. I tried to fight you because your sandstorm might've damaged the only sand skimmer left which we need to get out of here."

"You seem pretty fine for fighting me in the Avatar state. I'm surprised I didn't kill you," Aang said looking at him seriously.

"Do you remember any of what happened when you're like that?" Percy questioned the bald monk sitting across him.

Aang's head dropped, "No. I don't remember or have any control when I'm like that. It's just my past lives and instincts taking over," he muttered, the Avatar state was a sore subject for him.

"Well basically you went all glowy and then we threw down. I ended up knocking you out, but I healed you with the water. I was just waiting for you to wake up," Percy said looking Aang in the eyes.

"You knocked me out. In the Avatar state?" Aang questioned in disbelief.

"Why do you think you're just waking up?" Percy questioned dryly with a raised eyebrow.

Aang blushed, "Sorry. It's just… nobody stops the Avatar state. I destroyed an entire Fire Nation fleet while I was in it at the North Pole. I was just shocked. How'd you do it?" Aang questioned the demigod timidly. The Avatar state had always been his trump card, even if he couldn't control it. If he couldn't beat Percy with it, how would he beat the Fire Lord?

"Yeah, I won't lie, I got really, really lucky. Nobody else could do what I just did," Percy wasn't going to go into detail revealing his new powers if the Avatar didn't remember them, "Just don't go glowy again dude, I don't think I have the strength to do it again even in this water."

Aang starred at the demigod like he'd just grown horns atop his head. "Righttttt. Well I mean it is spirit water, that probably helped you being a waterbender and all," Aang spoke.

"Ahhhh I was wondering why it was glowing. Anyways you might want to apologize to your friends. You kinda went off on them, especially the earthbender. What was that all about? You could've killed us all," Percy questioned the monk seriously.

"Yeah sorry about that. When I go into the Avatar state, I'm not in control. I didn't mean to. Appa… he's the only thing I have left from my old life besides Bumi. He's my best friend, the last family I have left. Everyone else is dead, literally. And the world is so different now from when I was alive first. Sometimes I feel like I'm living someone else's life. Mine was 100 years ago." Aang spoke soberly to the man beside him.

Percy gazed at the Avatar for a long moment, wrestling with his internal thoughts. "Listen, kid. I'm going to tell you something but you have to swear on your bending you won't tell your friends."

Aang searched his face but all he saw was complete seriousness. The waterbender in front of him was being honest and that worried him. He swallowed, "I swear on my bending I won't tell them."

Percy looked at him before he glanced away. "I understand.. more than you could realize I understand. This world seems new to you, well... let's just say I know what losing your bison is like. He's your only lifeline from that time and place. For me, all I've got is this dagger." He said patting his sheath.

"I don't have anything else. I had nothing before Iroh brought me to the Fire Nation where I had to adapt. This dagger is the only thing I have in remembrance of my family and what I've lost. So I'm truly sorry about your bison." Percy spoke not to the Avatar, but a kid who had lost everything he knew too.

What the hell was he thinking?! Was he trying to give clues to the Avatar that he was from a different world? His emotions must've still been wild from speaking to his mom. He hadn't even worked up the courage to tell Azula or Piandao yet. Deep down, there was that 12-year-old who'd had an entire world taken from him. He didn't want to lose his new one now too.

Aang starred at the demigod for a long while. The news that he too had lost everything, while heartbreaking, was a bit of relief. Nobody understood quite how he felt since he woke up. He was scared, anxious, but above everything else, he was lost. Aang had gone into the ice with an entire nation, a father figure, and friends. When he woke up it was all gone. In an instant. No goodbyes, no chance to think about what had happened. It was poured onto him all at once. If he hadn't been woken by Katara and Sokka he might've been overcome in grief. They gave him a purpose, a reason to keep living while everything was lost to him. Something to live for.

It made sense now what Iroh had told them. No wonder Percy had entered that tournament. He too had probably lost people, parents, friends that had been taken from him in an instant. Aang's family kept him moving forward. Appa, Katara, Sokka, and even Toph now.

Percy was probably the same. Azula, Mai, Ty Lee, and the father figure Iroh had mentioned kept Percy anchored. They gave him a purpose, something to always fall back on.

"It's not your fault about Appa. I can't imagine what you've had to go through by yourself. I'm sorry."

Percy grimaced. "Yeah well, I turned out alright. I was beyond blessed to have been found by Iroh who sent me to my new father. If Iroh hadn't found me I don't know what I would've done…" Percy trailed off with a faraway look in his eyes at the thought before focusing.

"Anyways it's me who should be apologizing. When I entered the town to find transport to the library I wasn't exactly subtle. I'm guessing the sandbenders who stole your bison probably came looking to rob me and found something better." Percy told Aang.

Aang waved off the demigod's apology. "You didn't steal my bison, if it wasn't for you holding off Wan Shi Tong we might not have made it out of the library, to begin with."

"I was able to protect the sand skimmer and my crew underwater in a bubble during our fight. You guys should come with me, you probably won't make it out of here otherwise." Percy offered the teenager across from him.

Aang gave him a small, forced smile. "Thank you. I'll talk with my friends and you can tell the sandbenders. I want to get out of here and find my bison."

Percy stuck out his hand to the Avatar. Aang shook it firmly. "I think this means our truce for the moment. But if there's ever another time when we're not fighting each other you can talk to me. You're a pretty chill dude when you're not glowing and trying to kill me." Percy said with a smirk.

Aang smiled at him. "I just might have to take you up on that offer sometime."

( - )

Katara watched as the entire barrier of water over the lake dropped, revealing Aang and Percy walking across the water towards them.

Aang didn't seem nearly as upset. He wasn't smiling, but his body posture seemed relaxed. It appeared he and Percy had come to an understanding. Sokka tensed beside her, hand drifting towards his boomerang as they moved closer.

"What happened Aang?" Katara asked her friend.

"Percy and I worked things out. We have a truce for the moment," Aang told his friends.

"A truce?! He's a Fire Nation soldier who just fought you Aang!" Sokka cried in alarm.

"In case you haven't noticed you're stuck in the middle of a desert. Without my sand skimmer, how would you guys get back? Were you gonna dig up the evil owl and ride him?" Percy replied dryly.

"That's not the point!" Sokka defended himself.

"The point is you need my help since your bison was stolen. I've talked with Aang and he agrees with me. So you can either shut up and come with or die in the desert your choice."

"Why are you being so helpful?" Sokka questioned suspiciously, Katara nodding in agreement.

"If I wanted, you'd be dead already. I haven't tried to kill you yet and I'm not now either. You can stay here if you want, but I feel like getting the hell out of here," Percy responded.

There really wasn't any other good option. Percy began walking back in the direction of his sand skimmer with Aang. The members of team Avatar began grudgingly following behind him. Sokka and Katara knew that they had to get out of the desert, they were the only ones that knew about the eclipse. Toph wanted to get out of the desert too but that was mostly because she wanted to kick a lot more ass before she died.

Author Note - Alright everyone so this is the end of chapter 10 of Percy Jackson & The Sapphire Flame and I hope y'all enjoyed it. Give it a review or follow if you'd like to stay up to date on this story. A few things I'd like to address.

- Guys, I'm SORRY this chapter took so long. I just finished all my finals for my college classes last week. All I've done is study and take tests the past 2 weeks so I'm glad to get back to the story. I'm on winter break now so I should be getting entirely new chapters out every 4-5 days.

- I will be updating some of the previous chapters now too. There are a few small mistakes and also now I have a phenomenal Beta reader who's going over all my work and just makes it flow way better.

- Let's address the main thing here then, Percy's storm abilities. I took his hurricane, cranked that shit to 11, then threw in hail and lightning for fun. I hope the scene between Aang and Percy was good for you guys. Writing that scene was so much fun because it's just all action and power. A lot of people have been asking when Percy would show his other abilities and what better way than against the Avatar state.

- I hope the whole Aang and Percy talk worked well. I want to show how they've both lost everything and play into that connection only they can relate to losing nearly everything.

- Finally, please leave a review, guys! A follow or favorite would mean a lot for me too. I'm always open to advise on being a better writer and I'm looking forward to entirely new chapters from now on.
