A/N: Here is the next installment for this story as promised. I had to reread it and think on how I wanted to go forward. From this point, Harry will be meeting people, some we know and some we do not know. But I'll start to flesh out the supporting characters here.
Disclaimer: I do not own Harry Potter. But I do own a copy of Hogwarts Legacy and love it!
Chapter 4
Harrison looked up when the door suddenly slid open and a sharp set of green eyes looking inside.
"Oh I'm sorry!" she exclaimed. "I didn't realize someone was in here...I'm Lily Evans. First year. Who are you?"
Harrison felt displeasure. He did not want to meet nor mingle with his so called mother yet. Or Severus whom he could see is behind her. "My name is Harrison Riddle, Miss Evans. Please continue on and close the door behind you. I wish to be alone."
Lily blinked in confusion, feeling a bit unsure of how to react. His words could be rude but his tone was polite. She hesitated a moment before turning to Severus and making a choice. "Come Sev. Let's find somewhere else to sit. Leave him to his privacy."
"Thank you," Harrison said simply.
Soon the door closed once more and he returned to his book. He knew that pushing her away would color himself in less of a good light to James and he was fine with that. The ones he needed to make a connection to are Malfoy and his group. Through them, his own father may learn he is around. Or alive. But he still needed to tread carefully. He knew they wouldn't realize who he was or believe he was anything but a mudblood. He'd need to prove himself through classes and stand up for them in public. Any way he could gain curious, yet positive attention. He'd need to bide his time and make a name for himself. And he would need to be cautious around Dumbledore. The man would no doubt realize who he is-at least as Tom Riddle's son. And Harrison would need to act oblivious to this fact.
The rest of the train ride was lonely, which served him just fine. Soon the train began to approach a familiar country side, and Harrison changed into the black robes he himself had picked out. The material felt expensive on his skin, and he felt just fine wearing it. He knew it would draw attention, and hopefully protect Harrison from Slytherin students lashing out at him-at least initially. He shrunk his questionable books and placed them in a small bag that he placed within a pocket inside his robes. Then he opened the door as the train finally came to a stop. His eyes swept over everyone standing and collecting little things to carry with them. He left his trunk, knowing the elves would handle it. He stepped outside and feel into line with other first years, once again seeing James and Sirius with who could only be Remus and Peter. Then he noticed Lily Evans and Severus Snape and beyond them, Narcissa Black and some other people Harrison didn't recognize.
Soon the first years approached the great lake, and the boats lined up inside the boathouse. Harrison stepped into a boat, his eyes looking at Narcissa Black and some other girls-Slytherins of course. One of them looked him over, blinking.
"And who are you?" She wondered. "I am Amanda Davis."
Harrison regarded her, wondering if she was related Tracy Davis...but she did look like those Greengrass girls. "I am Harrison Riddle. It's a pleasure my lady."
He used the pureblood greeting befitting of his own station. She narrowed her eyes at him, but he could only see curiosity there.
"Riddle? I do not recognize that name."
"Unfortunately you would not. I was raised in an orphanage. I do not know if that is even my true last name," Harrison said, sticking to what he should only know. "I always knew I was different...I just hope I can show that I belong here. I do not ever plan to return to the muggle world. They're...below us for sure."
Narcissa glanced at him hearing those words. She smirked at him. "With ideas like that, you'll fit in Slytherin. Do take care not to repeat those ideas if you are elsewhere."
Harrison tilted his head. "I do prefer snakes to birds or lions. So I see no reason to worry."
Soon they reached the castle inside the castle boathouse. Harrison followed the students-and McGonagall to the great hall. He walked in, looking around. To anyone watching him, he is looking at everything in wonder. But in reality, he is looking at the students there and trying to recognize at least the families. He easily picked out a young Lucius Malfoy. Soon the sorting started, and he listened, committing to memory who goes where.
Narcissa to Slytherin. Davis to Ravenclaw. Then some Gryffindors. Like Lily and James. Sirius. Then finally it was his turn.
"Riddle, Harrison!"
He walked forward with sure steps, eyes straight ahead. He wouldn't look nervous or scared. He was heir now. He needed to show his own strength. He sat down and heard a familiar voice.
"Whats this? Hmm...I can't see too much young man. Are you familiar with the mind arts?"
I am not. Is that something I can learn?
"Sneaky sneaky, Mr Riddle. Well...I suppose I'll send you where the last Riddle was. Perhaps your father? Maybe? Well, you can only be SLYTHERIN!"
A/N: An update as promised! So sorry for the wait.
