To all my readers-This is the first time that I'm going to do Yugioh without making any character name changes. I want you all to know that my OC Paige Muto is related to Yugi and her looks are based on him. So, think of Paige as a feminine Yugi and Atem. Before anyone asks, yes, I will be doing all 5 seasons of Yugioh and that includes Capsule monsters as well. I was once asked if Paige would be dueling and yes, she will. You wont be able to see her duel until season 2 when Kaiba starts his Battle City Tournament.
If anyone, and I mean anyone tries to rush me while writing this fanfic or any of my other fanfics, all written chapters will be delayed for a week. No exceptions. Leave a positive review and Happy Reading!
I DONT OWN YUGIOH AT ALL! I ONLY OWN THE OC AND HER DUELING DECK!
Shoutouts:
"Joey, make a move already." said Tristan as he, Paige and Yugi watched Joey duel against Tea in the classroom.
"Okay, here you go tough guy." said Joey as he places down his Rock monster card. "My Rock Ogre's gonna rock your block off."
"Hmm." said Tea as she plays her face down card in defense mode.
"Yeah, Tea. Like that wimpy card has a chance against my giant rock guy." taunted Joey. "Give it up."
"Guess I don't stand a chance, unless maybe I use the breath of light card." Tea said, playing her magic card.
"Huh? Can she do that?" asked Joey.
"Oh, yeah. The breath of light wears down monsters, reduces them to rubble." said Yugi.
"That brings your life points down to zero, Joey. Once again, you lose and I rock." said Tea as Melody giggles at his defeat.
"You stink at this game." said Tristan.
"Without a doubt." said Paige, causing Joey to groan in defeat. "We still like you anyway, Joey." Outside of the school, Joey was with Yugi and Paige.
"Tristan's right, Yugi. I do stink." said Joey as Yugi and Paige were sitting on one of the bars. "I can't win at duel monsters to save my life. What is it, Yugi? Why can't I ever win? Teach me what I'm doing wrong."
"Well, let's start by checking your deck, Joey." said Yugi as he and Paige hop down from the bar. Joey hands over his deck.
"Okay, here you go." he said.
"Thanks."
Yugi and Paige looked through his deck. "Oh my." said Paige, looking over her brother's shoulder.
"Powerhouse line up, don't ya think?" asked Joey.
"It's a powerhouse line up, alright. But…" said Paige, trying to find the right words to tell him.
"No one could win with these, Joey." said Yugi, finishing what she was trying to say. "Your deck's filled with nothing but monster cards."
"You got it. I packed it with every butt kicking monster I could find." Joey tells them.
"But that's not how the game works." said Yugi.
"There's more to it than monster cards you know." said Paige.
"Huh?" asked a confused Joey.
"Duel monsters is all about combining your monster cards with your magic cards to increase their strength." explained Yugi and Paige nodded. "With no magic in your deck, your monsters will get creamed every time."
"Yep." said Paige.
"See? That's the kind of stuff I need to know. Yugi? Paige? You gotta help me learn more." pleaded Joey.
"Uh…" said Yugi.
"Well…" said Paige, looking at her brother.
"Our grandpa's the real game expert in the family." said Yugi as he, Paige and Joey went to the game shop. "Maybe he can help."
Solomon was hanging up a poster on the wall as the three of them walked in. "Hey grandpa, we brought you a new student." said Yugi.
"Huh? Student?" asked Grandpa.
"I was hoping since you know more about duel monsters than anyone, maybe you can teach me." said Joey.
"Teach you?" he asked, stepping down from the step stool. "Duel monsters is a very complex game."
"Yeah, tell me about it." said Joey. "Tea beat me three games in a row."
"Actually, Tea beat you five times in a row." said Yugi, causing his sister to snicker.
"Five?!" said Joey.
"And Paige beat you six times." he added.
"What?! Oh man." Joey said and looks at the poster on the wall. "Huh?"
"Hmm. yes, I could teach you to be a great tournament duelist." said Grandpa. "But only if you're willing to spend endless days and endless nights filled with rigorous training."
"I had to go through that." said Paige.
"Ah, piece of cake." said Joey.
"With an attitude like that, teaching you may not be worth my effort." said Grandpa.
"Nice going there, smart mouth." said Yugi.
"Yeah, smart mouth." said Paige
"Please, Yugi and Paige. Help me convince him I will work hard. I promise." said Joey, begging the Muto siblings.
"Listen, Joey. Teaching you duel monsters is too big a challenge, even for our grandpa." said Yugi.
"Yeah." said Paige.
"It's not impossible." said Grandpa.
"Huh?" said Joey. "You mean it, Gramps?"
"Joey, he already said, he can't do it and if he can't do it, he can't do it." Yugi said.
"All hail the game expert." said Paige, bowing to her grandpa.
"I never said I couldn't do it." Grandpa tells them, with a serious look on his face. "But if I agree, you must work hard."
"I'll do anything. I promise, I promise." said Joey.
"Hmm. fine, then we'll begin your instruction immediately my young friend and believe me, under my tutelage you will learn." said Grandpa, cracking his knuckles. "Now, can you name the most powerful duel monster?"
"Uh…no." said Joey.
"Can you name the weakest?"
"No."
"You do know what a trap card is, don't you?"
"Kinda…I have no idea."
"He's doomed." said Paige.
"Good evening duel fans and our 10 million viewers at home. And welcome to the duel monsters duel dome." said the announcer on TV who was at a tournament. "Where tonight the duel monsters regional championship will be decided of the 200 duelists that have competed in this marathon tournament, only two competitors remain standing."
The stadium was full of fans cheering around the arena. "Put your cards together for Weevil Underwood, the bug brawler." said the announcer as he introduced a boy with glasses.
"His opponent, the number one ranked, Rex Raptor, dino duelist!"
"Bug boy vs. dinosaur breathe?" asked Joey as they watched the tournament on TV. "What kind of match is that? That should have been me in there."
"I know you've been training for weeks, but those guys are in another league. You're just not ready yet." said Tea.
"Sure, rub it in." said Joey, crossing his arms.
"If you were in that tournament, you would've been out in round 2." said Paige.
"And on top of that, you're so tired you can't keep your eyes open." said Yugi and they start hearing snoring coming from Joey as he nodded off. "I think grandpa's lessons have been a bit too tough for him."
Joey was shuffling his deck until they fell out of his hands as he slumps over. "So tired. Must rest." said Joey.
"You have no time for rest!" said Grandpa as he hits the table with a katana. "Did you come here to learn duel monsters or did you come here to catch up on your sleeping?"
"You see, it's true what they say…you snooze, you lose." said Tristan, causing Joey to open his eyes and groan at him.
"Ah…I must have been nuts to think I could ever learn this crazy game." said Joey.
"Time for your lesson." said Grandpa, holding a box in his hands.
"What? We're not done?" Joey asked, shocked.
"Not by a long-shot you slacker." he said, causing Joey to groan as he walks up to the group. "Quit your whining, Joseph. I know you've been working long and hard but you really are coming along as a duelist and I'm quite proud of you."
"Gramps…" said Joey with tears in his eyes. "Thank you!"
He then tries to hug the man but Grandpa turns to his grandson. "Oh by the way, Yugi. A package came for you." he said, handing it to him.
"A package? What is it, Gramps?" Yugi asked as Joey lays on the floor.
"I don't know. It just came in the mail." said Grandpa.
"What did you get?" asked Paige.
"It's from Industrial illusions." said Yugi.
"Industrial illusions?!" exclaimed Joey, hopping over the couch. "That's the company that makes the duel monsters game. Why the heck would they be sending a package to you, Yugi?"
"Maybe to invite him to create some new cards for the game." suggested Paige.
"I have no idea. Is it possible they heard I beat the world champion?" asked Yugi.
"You mean Kaiba?" asked Tea.
"Yeah. It wasn't an official match or anything, but Kaiba did drop out of the tournament because of me." Yugi tells them.
[Flashback]
"Draw your last pathetic card so I can end this, Yugi." said Kaiba.
"My grandpa's deck has no pathetic cards, Kaiba." said Yugi. "But it does contain…the unstoppable Exodia."
"Impossible!" shouted Kaiba.
"Exodia, obliterate!" shouted Yugi as Exodia created a yellow ball of energy in his hands. Exodia attacks, destroying all three Blue Eyes White Dragons.
[Flashback ends]
"Just hearing Kaiba's name gives me a headache." said Joey.
"Whoa! Guys, Raptor just stomped Weevil." said Tristan.
"Yugi, Paige, guys any good?" Joey asked the siblings.
"Oh yeah. They're both pretty tough customers." said Yugi. "Weevil specializes in insect cards and he's a great stagiest. Then you've got Rex Raptor and his dinosaur cards. He uses their power to overwhelm his opponents."
"Itsy bitsy bugs against dueling dinosaurs. Raptor has got this in the bag." said Joey.
"I never went up against Weevil but I did go up against Rex a few times." said Paige, crossing her arms and had a disgusted look on his face. "Beat him every time."
"Too bad he never asked you out." said Grandpa, giving her a look.
"I don't need Rex as my boyfriend, Grandpa." said Paige, then sticks out her tongue at him. "Besides, I don't like him that way."
"I wouldn't be so sure." said Yugi as they all looked at the TV.
"All right, Weevil." said Rex. "Consider yourself dinosaur chow." He places one of his dino cards on the field with an attack power of 1,600 points.
"Oh and Raptor plays the strongest card in his deck, the terrible Two-Headed Rex. Looks like this match could be over right here, right now." said the announcer.
"We're back monster fans and with the Two-Headed King Rex in play, looks like this duel is all done." said the announcer.
"Your move." said Rex.
"And all I have is this weak little bug." Weevil said laughing, placing a bug card on his side of the field.
"Weevil Underwood counters with a basic insect card." said the announcer as the insect appears, with its attack of 500.
"He plays a wimpy bug card against a giant dinosaur?" Joey asked. "The place will be covered in bug guts."
"Maybe, but I wouldn't underestimate Weevil." said Yugi.
"You said it, bro." said Paige.
"King Rex, let's take this championship! Stomp them!" commanded Rex, causing Weevil to laugh.
"You've attacked your way into my trap." Weevil tells him. "But then how could your Chinese dinosaur brain know when an enemy attacks, my vortex activates."
"Oh no. It's a trap card." exclaimed Rex.
"Which totally traps your king Rex in its inescapable embrace." Weevil finally said and the trap activates around the dinosaur. Wind is blown around him.
"No, my King Rex." said Rex.
"And while he's trap there, I'll upgrade my basic insect by giving him armor with laser cannon." said Weevil and the armor with laser cannon appears on the insect. "Not such a weak little bug after all, hmm? Attack!" Laser was sent from the cannon and straight for the King Rex, destroying him on the field.
"And King Rex's extinct." said Weevil.
"Ah, beaten by a bug." said Rex in defeat.
"A stunning upset by Weevil Underwood, our newest champion." said the announcer.
Weevil smiled, holding his deck as his platform goes down on the field. "Man, King Rex squashed by an insect." said Joey.
"And now, a very special honor for our new champion, here to present the duel monsters championship trophy, the creator of duel monsters and the president of industrial illusions, ladies and gentlemen and fellow duelists, I give you Mr. Maxmillion Pegasus." said the announcer, introducing the man who can up through the floor.
"Congratulations." said Pegasus, handing the trophy to Weevil.
"Thank you." said Weevil.
"And as a regional champion, I invite you to compete in a bold new tournament I'm hosting at duelist kingdom."
Outside of the arena, Pegasus in driven away. "Mr. Pegasus, with the announcement that you made tonight will have thousands of duelists flocking to duelist kingdom." said the man in the suit.
"Yes. An event such as this will hopefully attract those who possess the millenium items I seek." he said. "Which reminds me…"
"The package was delivered to the boy just as you ordered, sir." said the suit.
"Excellent." said Pegasus.
"Heh, with all the excitement of the championships, you forgot to open your package, Yugi." said Grandpa.
"What could it be?" Yugi wondered as he opened the box. In the box, it revealed a glove, two gold stars and a VHS tape.
"Oh, it's some kind of glove" said Tea
"And stars." said Joey.
"Maybe there's some kind of explanation on the video." said Tristan.
"Pop it in and check it out." said Joey.
"Okay." said Yugi as he puts the video into the VCR and hits play.
"Greetings, little Yugi. I am Maximillion Pegasus." said Pegasus.
"Pegasus?" questioned Joey.
"We just saw him on TV." said Tea.
"This is creepy." said Paige.
"The famous Maximillion Pegasus sends greeting to my Yugi?" asked Grandpa.
"I have heard terribly interesting things about you, Yugi." he said.
"Huh?"
"Your impressive defeat of Seto Kaiba intrigued me so much, I've decided to investigate your amazing dueling skills personally." said Pegasus. "Right here, right now, we shall hold a special duel. We'll play with a strict time limit of 15 minutes and when times up, the player with the highest life points will be the winner. Are you ready?"
"Wha?" asked Yugi.
"He can't seriously expect you to fight a duel against a videotape?" asked Joey.
"There is no way my brother can duel someone who's a recorded videotape." said Paige.
"That's crazy." said Tristan and Pegasus starts laughing.
"No, it's magic." said Pegasus, using his millenium eye to turn the room blue and freezing everyone but Yugi.
"Everything's growing dark and cold and the others aren't moving." said Yugi as he looks over his shoulder. "What have to done to them? Where have you taken us?"
"We're no longer in the world you know." chuckled Pegasus. "But I will return you…after our game."
"Then it's time to duel." said Yugi and the millenium puzzle started to glow.
"YUGIOH!"
"Start the clock and make your move, Pegasus." said Yugi.
"Certainly, let's begin." he said and the timer on the video started counting down. Pegasus places a card on the field. "Nervous, Yugi boy?" asked Pegasus. "You should be. You never faced a duelist like me before."
Yugi draws a card from his deck, then said, "You may be good."
"I assure you, I am."
"But I will beat you to save my friends." he finished saying.
"You won't save anyone with that dragon card." said Pegasus. Yugi didn't know how he did knew about the card in his hand.
"How?" asked a shocked Yugi.
"I told you, you've never faced anyone like me before." Pegasus tells him as Yugi looked at the dragon card in his hand. "I know every move you'll make before you can even make it."
Yugi glared at Pegasus. "Knowing every move you'll make gives me a distinct advantage, wouldn't you say?" Pegasus asked.
"What?"
"For example, I can anticipate your next play and counter it with this dragon capture jar." said Pegasus as he played the magic card and a bright light shines from the TV. "It will bring out the Koumori dragon from your card and imprison the beast." Purple smoke came from the card and brought out the dragon, bringing it over to the jar.
"Trapped, never to be played against me." Pegasus said smugly.
"This is crazy." thought Yugi. "First he reads my mind, then he brings the monster on my card to life."
"This dark dimension we're in is known as the Shadow Realm." explained Pegasus. "A mystical place where incredible monsters can be summoned and the impossible is quite possible."
"But what you're telling me can't be true." said Yugi.
"Tell me, Yugi, do you believe there is magic in these cards?" Pegasus asked.
"Don't you know? You invented this game." said Yugi.
"What if I told you I didn't." said Pegasus, causing Yugi to gasp. "In ancient times, the Egyptians called this the shadow game. Powerful Pharaohs would hold mystical duels in other dimensions just as we're doing now, but not with cards. They battled with real monsters and real magic. Magical force is so powerful, the Egyptians lost control of them and nearly destroyed the entire world."
"It's a good story, Pegasus, but these monsters can't be real." said Yugi.
"Tell that to my Dragon Piper as his flute of resurrection frees your Koumori Dragon, but puts him under my control." said Pegasus and a monster appears on his side of the field, playing a piper, summoning Yugi's Koumori Dragon.
"I have to counter attack." said Yugi. "Silver Fang!"
The Koumori Dragon's head appears out of the TV and fires at Silver Fang. "Oh, the heat!" exclaimed Yugi as he covered his face and his life points went down to 1,500.
"Ha! As you see, Yugi, these monsters are very real." said Pegasus, chuckling. "And are very real and also quite dangerous."
Yugi glares at Pegasus as he continues laughing. "Ah, Yugi boy, you really quite entertaining." Pegasus said to him. "The way you scowl and sneer, so defiant and yet so helpless and so completely ignorant of the power of your millenium puzzle."
"What?" Yugi asked, confused.
"5,000 years ago, a powerful Pharaoh locked the magic of the shadow games away." explained Pegasus.
"What's this have to do with me?" he asked.
"The Pharaoh captured these vast magical energies in seven mystical Millenium items." Pegasus continued.
"Seven items? You're saying that my puzzle's one of them?"
"Yes and there are mystical energies locked within it." Pegasus tells him. "Magic that could change your life forever if you only knew how to unleash it."
"But why are you telling me this?" asked Yugi.
"Why? Simply because I need you to know. But perhaps I have said too much." he said as he places a card face down. "And since the clock is still ticking, I propose we resume playing our little duel."
"He's right. Time's running out and I still haven't figure out whether he can really read my mind or if it's some kind of trick." thought Yugi and Pegasus lifts part of his hair up, reading the card that Yugi was planning on using.
"I've got to try something." thought Yugi, grabbing the card. "Maybe my zombie warrior…wait a minute, he definitely knows what I'm about to do but how? It's got to have something to do with that weird eye of his."
Yugi then remembers when Pegasus pulled back some of his hair. "That's it, isn't it? that weird eye must somehow let him see the cards in my hand so no matter which card I pick, he's already one step ahead of me." thought Yugi. "But that gives me an idea."
"Hurry up now, Yugi boy, time is running out for you and your friends." Pegasus sneered as Yugi closed his eyes.
"Pegasus is expecting me to play one of the cards in my hand." thought Yugi, then quickly opens his eyes. "But what if I played a card even, I haven't seen yet? What happens if I draw a new card straight from the deck without even looking at it?"
"I already know you plan to play the Zombie Warrior and I'm already prepared to counter it with a trap card that makes even zombies lie down and play dead." said Pegasus.
"Not this time." said Yugi. "I figured out your little game, Pegasus. You may be able to see the card in my hand, but you can't see the cards I pull from the deck."
"Hmm."
"My next card is the Dark Magician."
"Oh…a big scary Dark Magician." Pegasus said, mockingly.
"Mock me all you like, Pegasus." said Yugi. "But my magician will destroy that dragon."
"Go right ahead if you think it'll help." he said.
"It'll do more than help, Pegasus. It'll bring you closer to defeat and bring me closer to saving my friends." said Yugi.
"If it can do all that, by all means play it." said Pegasus.
"Dark Magician!" shouted Yugi as the Dark Magician appears behind him. "Dark Magic attack!"
Pegasus yelled, shielding his eyes as the Koumori dragon was destroyed by the Dark Magician, causing his life points drop to 1,200. He then starts laughing at Yugi. "Nicely played. But by using your Dark Magician, you've let me manipulate you once again." said Pegasus, causing Yugi to gasp. "By playing that one card, you have ensured my victory."
"No."
"We shall see, Yugi." said Pegasus as he draws another card. "Oh, a very rare card. This is the fearless, Faceless Mage."
"I've never seen that card before. But my Dark Magician is one of the strongest cards in the game." said Yugi.
"But how will he fare once I combine my Faceless Mage with the equally rare eye of illusion?" Pegasus asked as the faceless mage appears on the field.
"Dark Magician, dark magic attack!" ordered Yugi. The Dark Magician attacks the Faceless Mage but was counter attacked by the eye of Illusion. "Dark Magician!" Yugi called out as the smoke begins to clear. "My attack had no effect at all."
Pegasus chuckles at the look on Yugi's face. "His Faceless Mage should have been destroyed, but it's still standing and I'm running out of time." Yugi said to himself as five minutes were left on the clock. "I'm up by 300 life points, but only Pegasus is toying with me. I got to find a way to beat him at his own shadow game."
"Pegasus knows all kinds of tricks but I gotta find a way to defeat him." thought Yugi. "I just have to trust in my grandpa's cards."
Yugi draws a card, then places it onto the field. "I attack your combo with the Celtic Guardian. This mighty warrior will cut your Faceless Mage down to size." said Yugi.
"True, your Guardian is mighty, but you have once again underestimated the incredible power of my eye of Illusion." said Pegasus, laughing at Yugi.
"No!" shouted Yugi.
"Dark Magic attack." said Pegasus and a black ball of dark magic went straight for the Celtic Guardian, destroying him. Yugi shields his eyes as his life points go down to 400.
"But that's impossible." said Yugi, angrily. "The Faceless Mage doesn't have a dark magic attack. Oh no." He then looks over and sees the Dark Magician on Pegasus' side of the field. "It was my own Dark Magician that attacked me. Pegasus is controlling him with the Eye of Illusion. But if he's using magic to control my magician, what's protecting his mage?"
"Well, Yugi, our time is nearly up and as I have more life points then you, it appears that I am the victor." said Pegasus soon as he places a card face down on the field and starts clapping with 10 seconds left.
"Time's not just up yet, Pegasus." said Yugi. "And you've left your Faceless Mage vulnerable to a physical assault."
"Hmm." growled Pegasus.
"Summoned Skull, attack!" shouted Yugi as Summoned Skull appeared and the tape counted down to zero, stopping the monster in its tracks.
"Mmm, we've run out of time, but how close was that if you had been able to complete your attack." said Pegasus. "I would have lost, but I didn't, did I? I have taken the measure of your talents this day, Yugi Muto and when next we duel, we shall play for far higher stakes."
"I'm done with your games." Yugi tells him. Pegasus ticks at him as he waves a finger.
"You presume I'm giving you a choice in the matter." he said as Pegasus pulls some of his hair back to reveal the Millenium eye. "But I'm not. For I too, possess one of the seven Millenium items, the all-powerful Millenium eye."
"A Millenium eye?" asked Yugi.
"That's right, Yugi boy and now I'll show you the true extent of its magic." said Pegasus, causing yellow light shot out of it and out of the TV, heading towards Grandpa. "You see, I have found that given the proper incentive, anyone can be made to play my game."
Just as he said that Grandpa's soul came out of his body and went into the TV. Yugi gasped as he sees Grandpa. "Yugi!" he called out as his image became distorted. Yugi returned to normal and grabs a hold of the TV. "Grandpa." said Yugi.
"Yes, we will duel again, Yugi. How else will you ever reclaim your grandfather's soul." said Pegasus, laughing he returned everything back to normal with Grandpa's body slumped over.
"Grandpa! Grandpa!" Yugi shouted as he rocked the TV.
