To all my readers-This is the first time that I'm going to do Yugioh without making any character name changes. I want you all to know that my OC Paige Muto is related to Yugi and her looks are based on him. So, think of Paige as a feminine Yugi and Atem. Before anyone asks, yes, I will be doing all 5 seasons of Yugioh and that includes Capsule monsters as well. I was once asked if Paige would be dueling and yes, she will. You won't be able to see her duel until season 2 when Kaiba starts his Battle City Tournament.

I've already had my background chapter ready for Seasons 2-5. To the one who has thought that Paige should have Arkana's Dark Magician, I want you to know that you are very lucky that I have that card in my actual deck. I want everyone to know that when I write season 5 (I really do mean when I write it), how I see Atem when he enters the world of his memories, there will be a couple of major surprises. I can't tell you what those surprises will be because they are still in development and I'm bouncing around some ideas with a couple of my friends so that I can make it the best part of season 5.

If anyone, and I mean anyone tries to rush me while writing this fanfic or any of my other fanfics, all written chapters will be delayed for a week. No exceptions. Leave a positive review and Happy Reading!

I DONT OWN YUGIOH AT ALL! I ONLY OWN THE OC AND HER DUELING DECK!

Shoutouts:

Guest-I will not be doing GX-Zexal, Arv-V, or the Sevens series. I'm only doing seasons 1-5 of Yugioh. To be fair, its been a while since I personally updated the fanfic and i get it, you want me to finish the fanfic sometime soon. For Paige's duelling deck, her deck is my actual deck that I started in the last two years. As for surprises in the future, you'll have to read and find out.

"Yugi?" Joey asked outside of Pegasus' castle.

"Come on, Yuge." said Tristan.

"Yugi? Are you okay?" asked Paige.

"Why wont he answer us?" asked Tea.

"I've never seen him like this." said Tristan as they watched Yugi sit on his knees in front of the doors.

"He's totally out of it." said Joey.

"Well, he did lose his only chance to save his grandfather." said Bakura.

"Thanks for the reminder, Bakura and don't forget, he's my grandpa too." said Paige, causing Bakura to blush in embarrassment.

"Yugi….let us help you." said Tea.

"What is happening to me?" Yugi asked, thinking to himself.

[Flashback]

"Strike now, or I swear I'll take you down." shouted Kaiba.

"Kaiba, I've never backed away, and I'm not starting now!" shouted Yami.

"One minute I'm battling against Kaiba….."

"Yugi!" shouted Tea and Paige.

"The next minute, I'm battling with myself." Yugi thought. "Suddenly, there was this other presence inside of me, willing to do anything to win the duel, and it took everything I had just to hold him back, but that gave Kaiba the opening he needed."

"Aah!" Yugi cried out as he fell to his knees.

[Flashback ends]

"I let Kaiba win the match, but I had no choice." Yugi told himself. "That other presence might have seriously hurt Kaiba if I hadn't regained control, and now I'm afraid of what happens next time. What happens if I cant control it? What if this other presence hurts my little sister? No! I can't take that chance. And that means I can never duel again."

"Oh! We have to do something, Paige and Joey." Tea said.

"Yeah, all right. I'm going in." said Joey as he and Paige walked up to the elder Muto.

"No one can share what I'm about to do to my only brother." said Paige as she tries to lift him up by his arm. "It stays between all of us. Joey, help me stand him up."

"Sure thing, Paige." said Joey.

"Okay, turn him around to face me." Paige instructed Joey. "That's it….now I need to fix his head…..there we go and…..I seriously can't believe that I'm actually doing this, but here we go."

SMACK!

A red hand print formed on Yugi's left cheek as Paige tried to slap him out of it. "Yeah, that didn't work." said Paige as Yugi didn't react to her slapping him. "I'm never doing that to my brother again as long as I live."

"You must have slapped him hard to make a mark like that." said Tristan.

"Want me to slap you as well, Tristan?" Paige asked, raising an eyebrow.

"No, no….no need to do that." Tristan said, nervously.

"It's okay, Yuge." Joey said, lightly laughing. "You just lost a few star chips is all. Here, take a few of mine. I owe you big time for ever getting me this far. Take 'em."

Everyone waited to see Yugi's reaction to Joey's offer. "But what about…." Bakura started to ask.

"My sister?" Joey asked. "Sure, she needs my help, but gramps is in danger right now, we got to get Yugi into the castle."

"Please, Yugi." begged Tea.

"Come on, pal. What do you say?" Joey asked. "Lets go kick Pegasus' sorry butt and get your grandpa back. Go on, Yugi. I want you to have them."

"I can never duel again." thought Yugi as Joey leans back, growling in annoyance before lifting him off the ground.

"Come on! Snap out of it!" said Joey. "You're really starting to scare me and Paige, man!"

"Joey!" shouted Tristan as he and Bakura ran over to them.

"I'm trying to help you out here." Joey said to Yugi who wasn't looking him in the eye. "Pull yourself together!"

"Take it easy, Joey." said Tristan.

"Huh. If this is how you treat your friends, I cant wait to see how you treat your enemies." said Mai, standing behind the group.

"Its Mai." said Tea.

"How's it goin'?" asked Paige, looking past Tea.

"Huh?" said the boys.

"Whats up?" asked Mai. "If you guys have enough star chips to get into the castle, why are you hanging out here?"

"Its Yugi." Joey tells her. "He lost his chips to Kaiba, and now its like he's lost the will to go on."

"So the little guy finally lost one, huh?" Mai asked.

"Yeah….it's creepy to actually see him lose a duel that wasn't even for fun." said Paige.

"I see. Lucky for you guys I came by." said Mai.

Inside the castle, Kaiba stood at the threshold. "All right, Pegasus." he thought. "I played your game and won. Now I'm coming for you."

"Aah, Kaiba boy." said Pegasus, watching Kaiba enter the castle. "Shall we toast to him, Croquet?"

"What?" asked Croquet, not understanding what he meant by that.

"A toast to Kaiba and his stunning upset victory over Yugi." said Pegasus. "Of course, if he thinks he can just waltz in here and rescue his poor little brother, then he overestimates his chances and underestimates my abilities. But he'll see. He'll see soon enough."

"Ok, now listen up." Mai said to the others. "Especially you, Yugi. You got beat, but That doesn't mean it's the end of the world. When I got beat, I thought it was all over for me, too, but then Yugi stepped in and saved my star chips, and now I'm returning the favor."

Jingling in Mai's hand, were 10-star chips. "No way!" said Tea and Paige.

"You said it." said Joey, then looks up at Mai. "Without those you cant win the prize money."

"Hmm. I'm being kind, not stupid." Mai tells him, showing them her star chips.

"Aah. She already has 10 chips of her own." said Bakura.

"No wonder she's being so generous." said Tristan.

"Talk about paying it forward." said Paige.

"Lay off." said Joey.

"Now go on, Yugi. You know I owe you, so take them." said Mai. "Earth to Yugi. Star chips at 12 o'clock."

"Go ahead and take my star chips, Yugi, and then we can all head up to the castle together." said Joey.

"What, my star chips not good enough for you?" asked Mai until she finally had enough of waiting for an answer. "Fine! Then I'll keep them! And your friends and sister can wipe your nose all the way back to the nursery. Grow up! Sometimes you win! Sometimes you lose!"

"Hey! He hasn't done that since I was 4." said Paige.

"Mai, don't get mad. You just don't understand." said Tea.

"Oh, I understand." she said. "Your friend and brother lost one lousy duel, and now he's too chicken to play again. Isn't that right? How pathetic." Everyone gasped at her statement to Yugi.

"Come on, chicken boy. Duel me for them. Now!" demanded Mai.

"I'll duel you." said Tea, gaining Mai's attention. "That's right. I'll duel you right here, right now, for Yugi."

"Huh?" said Mai.

"You and me, right here, right now. Yugi needs those star chips and I'm going to win them for him." said Tea.

"Come on, be serious." said Mai, looking at Paige.

"I would duel you, Mai….but your scary enough as it is. So I'll duel you another day." said Paige.

"An amateur like you wouldn't stand a chance against me." Mai said to Tea.

"Would so." said Tea.

"Hon, its sweet, you standing up for Yugi and all, but sweet doesn't win duels." said Mai. "Now I'll ask you one last time. Are you sure you want to duel me?"

"What do you think?" Joey asked Tristan as Tea gulps.

"I think Yugi's in good hands." said Tristan.

"Let Tea go for it." said Paige.

"I sure hope you're right, you two, 'cause everything is riding on this one match." said Joey as the three of them looked at a quiet Yugi.

Down on the ground and on the side of the castle was a dueling arena. "So what do you say, tea? You ready?" Mai asked.

"Totally. Let's go!" said Tea. "It's time to duel."

"Yugi's still lost in his own head." said Bakura as Paige starts to poke him.

"Well, maybe a little duel action will snap him out of it." said Tristan.

"All right, Mai." said Tea as she drew her first card of the duel. "I'm playing the Petite Angel in attack mode."

The Petite Angel (ATT:600/ DEF:900) squeaked its way onto the field with its wings and halo, ready to fight.

"What is that?" asked Joey, shocked that he and Tristan saw what Tea played first.

"The Petite Angel." said Paige, repeating what Tea said.

"Come on, Tea! That is not funny!" said Tristan as Mai chuckles.

"I play Harpie Lady. Attack Mode." said Mai, as Harpie Lady came out onto the field, shrieking.

"Uh…." said Tea.

"And I'll lay this, too, face down." said Mai, placing another card down.

"You got this, Tea!" shouted Paige. "Don't let Mai get inside your head. Win this for Yugi!"

"Right, um…." said Tea.

"Attack!" shouted Mai.

"Huh?"

Harpie Lady attacks Petite Angel, who dodges, from the air. "Whoa. That was close." said Tea as Petite Angel squeaks in fear until Harpie Lady grabs it with her claws, destroying it on the field.

"You know, Tea, if you're trembling with fear after the first round, maybe you should quit here." Mai suggested as Tea's life points dropped to 1,300.

"Ugh. No way, Mai." said Tea and puts down another monster card. "I'm in it to win it. Go, Fairy's Gift."

Fairy's gift (ATT:1400/ DEF:1000) appeared with its cuteness. "Ugh! Another of these cutesy cards." groaned Mai. "Come on, what are we having, a duel or a pageant?"

"Hmm." said Tea, pouting a bit and looked at her hand. "Waboku? Oh, I remember this. It's a trap card, a powerful one. If I can only remember what it does! Think, Tea, think! Hmm. I just better figure it out before I really need it. This, too!"

"Huh?" said Mai, confused.

"Face down." said Tea, placing her next card on her side of the field. "Hmm."

"Ok. A rocky start, but I think Tea's back on track." said Joey.

"I hope you're right, Joey." said Bakura. "Everything is riding on this duel."

"And if you're wrong, I'm chasing you all over the castle." said Paige.

"Go, Fairy's Gift!" shouted Tea. "Attack with Enchanted Dust!"

Enchanted Dust swirled around Harpie Lady, taking it's time to go into effect. "Whats taking so long? My Fairy's attack power is higher than that Harpie's." thought Tea. "It should be taking her down! Something's wrong. But what? Ooh!"

Just then, a yellow ball of light surrounded Harpie Lady and shattered. "Oh, no!" Tea cried out.

"Sorry, hon, but I activated my magic card….." said Mai, turning over her face down card and revealing her favorite magic card. "the Rose Whip, a personal favorite. It gives my Harpie 300 extra attack points." Tea gasps at this, forgetting that Mai had that in her deck.

"More than enough to defend her from your silly pixie dust and take out your fairy as well." said Mai as her Harpie Lady's attack points rose to 1,600 and Tea groans.

"Too late to call off my Fairy's attack now. I'll just hope for the best." thought Tea.

"Now, my Harpie Lady, Whiplash Attack!" shouted Mai. Harpie Lady crack her whip and rose petals fell from it before striking Fairy's Gift, who gave out a high-pitched scream.

"AAH!" Tea cried as Fairy's Gift was sent to the graveyard and her life points dropped to 1,100.

"How about that?" asked Mai as her life points stayed the same. "Your Fairy turned to dust!"

"Clever move." said Bakura as Tea groaned.

"Huh?" said Tristan and Joey.

"Mai tricked Tea into attacking by making her think that her Fairy had the most points, but what Mai didn't reveal until after Tea attacked was that she had a magic card waiting to power up her Harpie Lady." Bakura explained.

"Not to mention that it was her favorite card too." added Paige.

"Another mistake like that, and its all over." said Bakura.

"If you had any idea what you're really up against, Tea, you'd call it quits right now." said Mai. "This isn't going to get any easier, you know. Just give up and go back to cheerleading!"

"No. I'm not going to let Yugi down, Mai." said Tea.

"Please. If this is the start of some friendship rant, just save it." said Mai. "I've heard all your lame speeches before, and from that look on Yugi's face, I'd say he has too. Ha ha ha."

"Take that back!" said Tea.

"Come on, admit it!" Mai said. "Everyone sees how scared you are. You're just a little girl who's accidentally stumbled into the big leagues, but whatever. You'll learn the hard way."

"UGGGHHH."

"Hmm." said Mai, looking down at her hand as she chose her next card. "Harpie's Feather Duster. My turn, hon, and I'm playing this, face down."

"Face down again?" asked Tea, thinking what Mai was doing as she drew her next card. "I hate it when she does that. Makes it hard to know what to play next. Shining Friendship. Hey! That's like all of us. We're all in this together. Boy, I wish this card was as strong as our real friendship, then it would be able to beat anything. (Sighs) It would have Joey's courage, Tristan's spirit, Paige's kindness and Yugi's heart."

"You can do it, Tea!" cheered Joey.

"Show no fear!" said Paige.

"We're with you!" said Tristan.

"Go, Tea!" said Bakura.

"Yugi." said Tea with tears in her eyes. "Are you with me?" Yugi softly groans as he lifts his head up.

"Maybe this card is as strong as our friendship." thought Tea as she looks back at the card in her hand. "Well, there's really only one way to find out. Shining Friendship in Attack Mode!"

Appearing on the field, Shining Friendship (ATT:1300/ DEF:1100), ready to do anything for Tea. "You kept me waiting all this time for that little butterball?" Mai asked. "Fine then. Harpie Lady! Whiplash Attack!"

"I would have kept her waiting too, just for the fun of it." Paige said to the boys, who giggled at the thought of Paige keeping Mai waiting.

"Not so fast, Mai." said Tea, turning her face down card. "I placed a trap, and I remember now what it does, so I'm activating Waboku."

"Waboku?" asked Mai.

"That's right." said Tea. "And Waboku reduces the attack points of my opponent's creatures to zero, so my Shining Friendship is unharmed. Hmm."

"I think I taught Tea that move." said Joey.

"If you did….I need some solid evidence on that." said Paige.

"Yeah….if by teaching you mean 'Getting schooled' every time she beat you with it." said Tristan.

"Watch it, you two." said Joey.

"You're right, Mai, maybe I am scared up here duelling you for such incredibly high stacks." said Tea. "But this card reminded me of something that helps me face that fear….my friends. And I know with all of them backing me up, I will win!"

"Hmm?" Mai questioned as she looks at Paige and the boys.

"Its like the card says: Shining Friendship. No matter how dark things may get, the special bond I share with my friends will always find a way to shine through." said Tea. "I may be scared, but that fear wont keep me from duelling or from helping Yugi or from winning this duel!"

"You know…..that's the best speech I heard about friendship all year." said Paige, beaming at Tea.

"Yugi, is any of this getting through to you?" Joey asked. "Don't you see? Tea's putting herself on the line for you."

"Even though she's frightened, she still battles on." chimed Bakura as Yugi looks up at the dueling arena. "It's quite inspiring, really."

"Nice speech, Tea." Mai tells her. "In fact, it was so stirring, I almost feel the need to throw up."

"Can it!" shouted Tea. "I've had enough of your insults!"

"Yeah! I don't want to hear anymore insults from you, Mai!" shouted Paige.

"Hmm. The Magician of Faith." thought Tea. "I'm playing this in defense mode! And that's not all! I'm playing the Silver Arrow and Bow card which raises my creature's by 300 points!"

Shining Friendship's attack and defense rose (ATT:1600/ DEF:1400) and has the Silver Arrow and Bow in its hands. "Fine with me." said Mai.

"Uh…"

"Its not like I don't have magic cards, too. Cyber Shield." said Mai, placing the magic card on the field. "Tell me what you think of this make over. Now Harpie Lady's attack will be 500 points stronger."

Cyber shield armor appeared on Harpie Lady, raising her attack points to 2,100. "But wait, I'll also play this De-Spell card." said Mai, showing a key and lock, removing Silver Arrow and Bow from the field. "Sorry, cupid. You've been de-accessorized."

"Ohh!" gasped Tea as Shining Friendship went back to its original attack and defense points as Mai laughs evilly.

"Not good." said Tristan.

"Hold on, Tea. This might be rough." said Joey as Yugi gasped at what was happening.

"(Chuckles) And I think I'll attack your face down card to demolish any hopes you have left." said Mai and Harpie Lady attacks Tea's face down card with her whip, revealing the Magician of Faith, destroying her on the field. "There! No more hope! No more faith! No more chances! Don't you know the rules, Tea? Since I flipped your Magician of Faith over with my attack, you get a card back from the graveyard."

"Oh." said Tea as she takes a card from her graveyard.

"I mean, how can you seriously hope to beat me when you don't know the rules?" asked Mai as Tea starts to freak out a bit. "Look, honey, I'm sure that everyone's really impressed that you've lasted this long, but all you're doing is delaying the inevitable."

"Huh. I wont give up." said Tea, staying confident, causing Yugi to gasp at her determination.

"Come on, what you're doing is pointless." Mai said to Tea. "Yugi's already given up on himself. You're not going to be able to keep fighting for him. He has to fight for himself. He has to stand up to anyone who dares to get in his and Paige's way. And whatever's going on in his head, Tea, Yugi has to deal with it on his own."

"Why, maybe Mai's right." thought Yugi. "Maybe I have to fight harder. Maybe I gave up too easily. What do you do when the thing you're fighting against is some kind of magical spirit that can take control of you, something that's living inside of you? What do you do then?"

"Face it, Tea, Yugi's checked out, he's given up, he doesn't care about this match, and he doesn't care about you." taunted Mai. "Nothing's worth the humiliation you're going through."

"You're wrong! My friends are worth it! Always!" shouted Tea. "I don't care how much experience you have playing duel monsters. I don't care what the odds are against beating you. I wont give up, not on this match and not on Yugi either. I won't give up. I won't." Tears fell from Tea's face as she starts sobbing.

"Tea." said Yugi, quietly.

"Don't let these tears fool you, Mai." said Tea. "I may be crying, but I've never felt stronger. So you better get your star chips ready, because I'm about to beat you!"

Just then, Yugi made fists at Tea's statement. "And there's not a thing you can say or do that'll stop me." said Tea.

"You and Paige may have a tendency to run at the mouth, but you both have a lot of spunk." said Mai.

"I agree with having spunk, but I don't run at the mouth." said Paige, crossing her arms.

"Yeah right!" said Joey and Tristan as Bakura chuckled, standing to the side.

"Give me your best shot." said Mai as Tea looks down at the card she had in her hand.

"This Elf's Light's a good card. It would give me a major power boost to my Shining Friendship. And I also have a De-Spell Card. I can use that to get rid of Mai's Cyber Shield. Plus, since I recovered my Silver Arrow and Bow from the graveyard, I can add the 300-point power boost to the 400-point boost that I get from my Elf's Light card! Then my Shining Friendship's attack power will be 2,000. I just hope that will be enough." thought Tea. "First, I'm playing this Silver Arrow and Bow that I brought back from the graveyard."

Just then, Shining Friendship gets back the Silver Arrow and Bow as its attack power rose back up to 1,600. "Next, I'll use Elf's Light to power him up even further." said Tea as Elf's Light gave her power to Shining Friendship. "Now Shining Friendship is 2,000 attack points strong."

"Hmm. That's still not enough." said Mai. "Harpie! Attack!"

"Yes it is." said Tea.

"Huh?"

"Or does the magic of De-Spell not apply to you, Mai?" asked Tea, glaring at the blond girl who then gasped as Cyber Shield was gone off of her Harpie Lady, dropping her attack points.

The others gasped at this, shocked. "Attack, Shining Friendship, with Silver Lightening Arrow!" shouted Tea. Shining Friendship pulls back the Arrow, aiming it at Harpie Lady and releases it from the bow.

"Hmm." said Mai, about to turn over a card but stops as the Arrow makes contact with her Harpie Lady, destroying her on the field.

"Bull's Eye for friendship!" Tea exclaimed.

"What a shot!" said Joey.

"I think Tea's doing better against Mai than you did." said Tristan.

"Yeah, Joey." said Paige as Joey groans.

"Well done." said Bakura as Mai's life points dropped to 1,600.

"Hmm." said Mai, looking at the card she had faced down and picks it up. "I almost forgot. My Harpie's Feather Duster. This card could win it for me."

"Huh? Harpie's Feather Duster?" thought Yugi, seeing Mai pick the card up.

"I surrender, Tea." Mai declared. "I don't have the cards to win."

"Huh? Giving up just like that?" asked Tea.

"That was way too easy." said Paige.

"Don't rub it in, Tea. Harpie Lady was the best monster I had, and seeing as how you beat her, there's really no point in me going on. Hmph." said Mai.

"I won! Hey! Hey!" cheered Tea.

"Way to go, Tea." said Joey. "You really came through for Yugi."

"That was the greatest duel ever." said Paige.

"Whatever." said Mai, handing over the star chips to Tea. "I didn't need these anyway."

"Good match." said Tea, giggling as Mai walks away.

"Wait, Mai. I have to ask you something." Yugi called out. "Wasn't the last card you…"

"A throwaway." said Mai. "It was nothing that Tea wouldn't have been able to beat anyway, really."

"Huh?" said Yugi.

"Some cards aren't just worth playing, huh, Yugi?" said Mai, giving him a thumbs up.

"Thank you." he said as she continues to walk away.

"Yugi?" Tea asked, gaining his attention.

"Huh?"

"I, uh…I won the star chips for you." said Tea.

"I know." said Yugi as Paige smiles behind Tea. "Hmm. Thank you so much."

"Sure thing." said Tea.

"I'll never forget what you did for me, Tea." said Yugi. "You overcame your fears for me. And you've given me the courage to deal with mine. I will duel again, and hopefully, the consequences wont be as bad as I fear."

"So take them already." said Tea, still holding the star chips in her hands. "You're making me blush."

"Thanks. You're the best." said Yugi.

"Welcome back." said Joey.

"You really had us worried there for a while, Yuge." said Tristan.

"By the way, Yugi….how's your cheek?" asked Paige, popping up beside the two.

"Huh?" he asked, then presses it, feeling the muscles hurting. "Did you slap me?"

"I'm sorry, I had to. It was a one-time thing that I will never do again as the baby sister." said Paige.

"Just wait until after we rescue grandpa." Yugi tells her.

"Please! Don't tell him." said Paige, pleading with her brother. "I'll do anything!"

"Hey, you losers! Last one to the castle door is a rotten egg!" Mai called out to them.

"Huh?" they all said.

"Lets go!" said Yugi.

"Yeah!"

"Ha ha!"

"Gangway!" said Joey.

"You gangway!" said Tea and Paige.

"Hey, wait up!" Bakura called out.

"And Tristan takes the lead." said Tristan.

"Not likely." said Mai.
