To all my readers-I want everyone to know that for the duel of Yugi Muto and Maximillion Pegasus will take a while for me to write because I want to upload them in a certain way. They'll still be in episode order, mind you, I'm just going to be uploading them differently. So dont rush me on those chapters, otherwise I will delay uploading them by a month. Okay?
If anyone, and I mean anyone tries to rush me while writing this fanfic or any of my other fanfics, all written chapters will be delayed for a week. No exceptions. Leave a positive review and Happy Reading!
I DONT OWN YUGIOH AT ALL! I ONLY OWN THE OC AND HER DUELING DECK!
Shoutouts:
"Man, I can't believe it's finally happenin'," said Joey as crows cawed outside of the castle. "Yugi vs. Pegasus for his grandpa's soul. Everything we've been workin' on comes down to this match!"
"Yugi, you've gotta win this and bring grandpa back." Paige whispered to herself.
"Yugi! Don't let that creep intimidate you!" Tea cried out.
"Yeah, just play your game." said Joey.
"Hmm." thought Bakura, using the millenium ring. "Lets see what Croquet's up to, shall we?"
"What?" Croquet asked, speaking into his phone, unknown that Bakura was listening in. "What do you mean Mokuba's missing? He's instrumental in the plan to take over Kaiba Corp. Find him immediately, idiot! How hard can it be to recapture a soulless body? Do not make me come down there."
"Interesting." thought Bakura as he starts to walk away.
"Hmm?" said Joey, turning his attention away from the duel. "You got somewhere to go, Bakura?"
"Yes. I thought I'd go and check on Tristan." he answered.
"He has been gone a long time." said Tea.
"Too long, if you ask me." said Joey. "I mean, what could be more important than this match?"
"If you find him, Bakura, kick his butt for me." said Paige, unknown to them that Bakura was smirking. "I would do it myself, but I need to be here for Yugi."
"Hmm." said Bakura and walks away. "I'll be sure to ask him."
"Go ahead and make your move, Yugi-boy." thought Pegasus, laughing internally. "Of course, its not like I don't already know what it is. First you'll lay the Spellbinding Circle trap face down, and then you'll throw out the Summoned Skull in defensive mode. Go on, Yugi. I'm perfectly prepared."
"It's my turn. And first I'm laying this card face down." said Yami, making his move. "And next, I'll throw the Summoned Skull in defensive mode. And I'll leave it at that."
"Goody. Now its my turn once again." said Pegasus as Summoned Skull appeared on the field, kneeling on Yami's side of the field. "Ha ha ha. You see? The eye never lies. Nor does it fail in sighting the vulnerabilities for your pathetic moves."
Soon enough, Pegasus drew his next card. "I'm switching Ryu-Ran into attack mode." said Pegasus as Ryu-Ran breaks out of its shell, roaring. "Ryu-Ran, Firestream Attack!" Ryu-Ran blew out two streams of fire from its mouth, aiming it at Summoned Skull.
"With your attack, you've activated my trap card: the Spellbinding Circle!" shouted Yami, activating his trap card. Spellbinding Circle appears in front of Summoned Skull, pushing back Ryu-Ran's attack. "My circle has stopped your attack. And that's not all." said Yami as Spellbinding Circle sets itself around Ryu-Ran. "It also ensnares Ryu-Ran in a binding spell of magic."
"Oh, no." Pegasus said dramatically.
"And reduces his attack power by 700 points." added Yami as Ryu-Ran's attack points dropped to 1,500.
"All right!" shouted Tea and Paige.
"Looks like Pegasus is in big trouble." said Joey. Down in the dungeons, Yami-Bakura ran through the corridors to find Tristan.
"Where are you, little Mokuba?" thought Yami-Bakura. As he came to an impasse, the millenium ring glows, pointing to left.
"And now, Pegasus, with my Skull poised for attack, and the magic of my Spellbinding Circle trap in full effect," said Yami. "Ryu-Ran will be struck down! Go Lightning Strike Attack!"
"Hmm. Not so fast, Yugi." said Pegasus, revealing a trap card of his own. "I play this."
"What? What is that?" asked Yami.
"A Trap." said Pegasus. "Well, a trap for all traps actually. Its called Trap Displacement, and with it, I can take the Spellbinding Circle you set on one of my monsters and switch it to one of yours! Observe."
"Paige?" asked Tea.
"I've heard about that card, but never seen it in play." said Paige as Spellbinding Circle disappears from Ryu-Ran and appears around Summoned Skull. "I cant believe that he's using it on one of Yugi's monsters."
Summoned Skull's attack power drops to 1,800 while Ryu-Ran's attack points rose back up to 2,200. "No!" Yami exclaimed. "Ryu-Ran's attack power is back to normal and my Summoned Skull is 700 points weaker."
"Why, its almost as if I knew exactly what you were thinking, isn't it?" Pegasus asked calmly.
"No! My Summoned Skull wont be able to last another turn with that Spellbinding Circle entrapping him." said Yami.
"Come now, Yugi-boy." said Pegasus. "Your Skull won't even last this one. Firestream Attack!"
Ryu-Ran fires once more upon Summoned Skull, destroying him on the field as Yami's life points dropped to 1,400. "Pegasus knows every dueling strategy I think up." thought Yugi as Yami stood there in shock. "I cant hide anything from his eye."
"AWWW! That mind readin' cheat!" shouted Joey. "What the heck's the use in goin' on here?"
"Don't say that." said Tea.
"You're asking us girls? How should we know, Joey?" asked Paige.
"Yeah. No matter how bad it looks, we cant give up, Joey." said Tea.
"You're both right, Tea." said Joey. "It aint over 'til it's over. We've gotta believe Yugi'll find the way to beat this creep."
"Hmm. That's right, Joey." thought Tea. "We have to believe in Yugi, no matter how bad it looks."
Down in the dungeons, Tristan was being chased by the guards. "Look! He's got Mokuba!" shouted a guard.
"Stop him!" shouted another guard. "Hold it right there!"
"No place left to run, punk!" said the first guard as he walks up behind Tristan.
"You're surrounded." said the second guard.
"Now hand over the kid, tough guy." ordered the first guard.
"No. Come and get him." said Tristan. Just then, Yami-Bakura laughs.
"Lay one hand on the boy and you will rue the day you imbeciles were ever born." said Yami-Bakura.
"Huh?"
"Hey, who's there?" asked the second guard. Yami-Bakura laughs as he steps out into the torched lit corridor.
"You just walked into a world of trouble, kid." said the first guard.
"Bakura, get outta here!" Tristan said.
"Come here, punk." said the second guard.
"You heard him." said the first guard. "Now, step out of those shadows right now."
"Run for it, Bakura!" shouted Tristan. "Go on! Save yourself!"
"Step out of those shadows or else!" demanded the second guard.
"Or else you'll do what, you pathetic little drones?" asked Yami-Bakura.
"We warned ya." said the second guard.
"Yes, and now I am warning you." said Yami-Bakura, revealing a spell card. "Don't trifle with me."
"What's that?" asked the second guard.
"Chain Energy!" said Yami-Bakura, raising the spell card in the air and chains appeared around both guards.
"What on earth?" asked the second guard, looking at the chains wrapped around him and the other guard. "I'm stuck."
"Unh! Me too! But how?" the first guard asked.
"Bakura, what did you do?" asked Tristan.
"Come. Now is our chance to escape." said Yami-Bakura.
"Uh, okay." said Tristan, then runs after him. "Hey, wait up!"
"Hey, stop!"
"Halt!"
Tristan and Yami-Bakura didn't stop, they kept going. "Hey! Those brats are getting away!" shouted the second guard.
"I can see that, moron." said the first guard and the chains finally disappeared, releasing them. "'A' squad here. We need back up."
"My turn, Yugi-boy." said Pegasus.
"And I'm sure its another perfectly prepared move." thought Yugi. "Hmm. If I'm going to win, I have to find a way to keep his millennium eye from reading my thoughts."
"Fat chance!" said Pegasus, interrupting Yugi's internal monologuing, causing Yami to be shocked. "Nothing you do can stop it. Face it, Yugi. You're at the mercy of my millennium eye."
Yami growled at this, knowing how much this duel means for Yugi and Paige. "Don't you see? I already know every card you keep in your deck and have in my possession every card needed to stop them." Pegasus explained. "I can see every strategy your feeble mind has concocted and have already designed my own counter tactics to render them completely useless! But even without my millennium magic, you're no match for me. After all, who needs magic with this card? Perhaps you'll remember it."
Yami growled as Pegasus pulls the card from his hand. "That's right, Yugi. Its….the Magical Toon World!" said Pegasus, playing his magic card and Toon World appears on the field.
"I thought as much." said Yami.
"Oh!" gasped Tea.
"Aw, man. This aint good." said Joey.
"This isn't good at all." said Paige as pink smoke came out of Toon World and sucks up Pegasus' monsters.
"As you recall, Toon World protects my monsters beneath its impenetrable hardback bindings, bindings that they'll only vacate when they're about to attack you!" said Pegasus. Toon World opens up, sending out its pink smoke.
"Oh, and seeing how all of my monsters have been transformed to their super-powered toon form. It will be an attack that's certain to leave you in stitches." Pegasus added as he, Ryu-Ran and Archery Girl laughed. "Whats the matter, Yugi-Boy? Don't you have a sense of humor? Manga Rya-Ran! Attack the monster Yugi has in defensive mode. Nasty Nostril Flame Attack!"
Rya-Ran attacks Yami's Stone Soldier, who was in defense mode, blasting it off the field with its flames. "Looks like your Giant Soldier of Stone couldn't stand the heat." said Pegasus as Rya-Ran taunted Yami before heading back into Toon World. "Aren't my Toons simply marvelous? I can't help but feel the same proud satisfaction that a parent would. I guess that's my reward for having created the card."
"That cheat!" thought Yugi. "The Toon World Card is one of a kind. It was thought to be too powerful for distribution. That's how he was able to beat Kaiba with it."
"And next I think I'll switch the Toon Mermaid into attack mode." said Pegasus. "You know? To let her out of her shell." The Toon Mermaid giggled as she appears in front of Yami.
"Hmm. If I keep throwing my monsters in defensive mode, Pegasus' Toons will just keep picking them off." thought Yugi as Yami looks down at his hand and drew the next card. "My only chance is to take the offensive. Maybe by attacking, I can uncover some kind of weakness in these Toon monsters."
"Celtic Guardian!" shouted Yami, placing the card on the field. "In Attack Mode!"
"My Guardian may not pack enough punch to beat that Mermaid, but with both their attacks at 1,400, she shouldn't be able to beat him either." Yugi thought.
"Go! Celtic Guardian! Sliverblade Slash!" bellowed Yami and Celtic Guardian rushes towards Toon Mermaid whose shell grabs his sword. "No way! The Clam caught my attack!"
"That toon caught Yugi's attack?" asked a shocked Tea. "What's going on here?"
"I don't know, Tea. That match up shoulda been a draw." said Joey.
"He's right." said Paige. "That Mermaid should be in the graveyard."
"Ha ha! Shoulda, woulda, coulda." said Pegasus. "I'm afraid that you're all just going to have to accept the reality of the situation. Yugi's Guardian is the catch of the day. Ha ha ha. And if there's one thing I love, besides winning, that is, it's a fish fry!"
Toon Mermaid pushes Celtic Guardian back and fires her arrow at him, destroying him as she sends him to the graveyard. "That was no draw." said Tea.
"That was brutal." said Paige.
"You're right. Something's off with those toons." said Joey.
"Ok, well, maybe if I play a stronger card." thought Yugi.
"Afraid not." said Pegasus, hearing Yugi. "No card in your deck is strong enough. My toon monsters cant be beaten by sheer brute force." Toon Mermaid giggles at the start of Yami's continued downfall before going back into Toon World.
"Then what can I do? Attack is useless." thought Yugi. "That millennium eye gives Pegasus access to my every card, thought and strategy. How can I possibly win this duel?"
"It's my turn, Yugi-boy. And I think I'll lay these 2 cards face down on the field." said Pegasus, removing two cards from his hand.
"Great. More to worry about." thought Yugi.
"Its my move now." said Yami.
"Hmm. With those two cards out, I guess I should defend." Yugi thought. "It may cost me a monster, but it's better than losing life points."
"I'm throwing down a monster in defense mode!" said Yami, placing a card face down only in resulting Pegasus to laugh.
"I knew you would, Yugi-boy." he said, smiling. "After all, that's the reason why I played this card face down. And then….behold the trap known as Gorgon's Eye! I think you'll find his glance most arresting."
Gorgon's Eye appeared, opening its eye and reveals Yami's facedown card, Feral Imp and turns it to stone. "My Imp!" Yami exclaimed. "He's been turned to stone!"
"As will every other monster you throw into defensive mode. For the Gorgon's Eye, it's a permanent trap." said Pegasus as Gorgon's Eye left the field. "And you should know that every time I destroy one of his concrete victims, half of their defensive power will be deducted from your life points! Sorry, but there is a bright side to having a set of fossilized monsters, Yugi-boy. They make a fine paper weight."
Yami growled as Pegasus laughs. "Hmm. Tough crowd." Pegasus added. "Well, here, maybe you can learn to lighten up from my second facedown card. Doppelganger, the Copy Card! Know why he's grinning, Yugi? Because this little fella loves what he does and does what he loves."
"He used this on Kaiba!" Yugi exclaimed while Yami gasped as they both remembered.
"Correct, Yugi-boy." said Pegasus, placing the card on the field. "This little rascal can transform himself into any card on the field that I want." Out on the field, Doppelganger let out his tail first before showing his face and laughing. He then goes up and around Pegasus.
"Oh, beg your pardon." said Pegasus as Doppelganger whispers something in his ear. "Any card he wants. So which card will it be this time, Doppelganger? Huh? Perfect. You always have the best ideas. Well, Yugi-Boy, it seems that he would like to transform into that Summoned Skull that I defeated a few turns ago."
"My Skull? He's in my graveyard." said Yami.
"Yes, but your graveyard pile is on the field. So its fair game for my Doppelganger." said Pegasus as Doppelganger grinned behind him. "Go, my furry friend."
Doppelganger quickly goes into Toon World and copies Yugi's Summoned Skull from his graveyard. "It's really something, isn't it, Yugi-Boy?" asked Pegasus as they waited for Doppelganger to come out of Toon World. "I can copy one of your monsters, recruit him to my team, and turn him into a toon all in one move."
Toon World starts to shake as it opens and lightning strikes the cartoon pages. "And with that, a dark new chapter of Toon World has been written." said Pegasus, opening his arms. "The chapter of Fiends. And here's our story's protagonist. Or antagonist, depending on your point of view. The Toon Skull."
"What have you done to him?" asked Yami.
"Yeah, he's way too goofy." said Paige.
"Nothing compared to what he's going to do to you!" said Pegasus as Toon Skull shakes his head goofily with his tongue hanging out.
"You're twisted, Pegasus." said Yami, glaring angrily. "You take such delight in creating such a monstrosity."
"Don't say that." said Pegasus. "You only hurt its feelings. You may not know it, but beneath that gruff exterior lies a very sensitive toon." As Pegasus laughs, Toon Skull changed its appearance to being sensitive and batted its eye.
"Pegasus, just move!" bellowed Yami.
"Whatever you say, Yugi-boy." said Pegasus, laughing. "Toon Skull, Lightning Strike Attack!"
Toon Skull unleashed its lightning, striking Feral Imp and sending to the graveyard. "Your Horn Imp is demolished. And since he was first turned to stone by my Mystic Gorgon's Eye Trap, half of his defense points is removed from your life points." said Pegasus as Yami's life points dropped to 900.
Toon Skull showed off his muscles before heading back into Toon World. "What splendid showmanship. Wouldn't you agree, Yugi-Boy?" Pegasus asked. "Perhaps I'll coerce him to do an encore a little bit later."
"That creep sure loves to hear himself talk." said Tea.
"He loves to talk about himself a lot." added Paige.
"Ungh! Come on, Yuge, pop that muscle-headed toon like a balloon." said Joey.
"But how?" Yugi asked, wondering himself. "The magic of Toon World makes it seem impossible."
"Its your turn!" Pegasus called out, bringing Yami out of his stupor.
"Hmm." said Yami, drawing his next card.
"Hmm." said Pegasus, seeing the card as the Dark Magician and starts chuckling. "I see you've drawn the fabled Dark Magician." Yami became shocked by this. "You're favorite card, if I'm not mistaken. His trouncing should be especially painful for you. Ha ha ha. I so look forward to when you put him into play, Yugi-Boy. And I can crush him. Ha ha ha ha ha!"
Tristan and Yami Bakura continued to run from Pegasus' guards. "Hey, Bakura, what was it you did back there?" asked Tristan, panting as he carried Mokuba up the stairs. "Using that magic card, but for real!"
"Not now. Those guards are still behind us." said Yami Bakura.
"Fine, but something's up with you, and you're going to tell me what." said Tristan as they stopped in front of a door, then tries to open it. "It's a no go. This door's locked. Come on!"
Tristan takes off with Yami Bakura close behind in order to find an unlocked door. "Look! A way out!" said Tristan, seeing light up ahead as they climbed the stairs. Just as he went through, Tristan looked down and sees that he was about to go over the edge.
"Whoa, mama, please!" Tristan cried out as Yami Bakura grabbed him by his jacket and pulled him back. "I owe you one, Bakura."
"I don't know what to do." thought Yugi. "I cant even try attacking those toons while they're inside that magic book. And the Gorgon's Eye turns any defense monster I throw into stone. (Sighs) It all just seems so hopeless."
"It certainly does." said Pegasus. "Oh, sorry. Were you having a private conversation with yourself? I'm so gauche. I really must learn not to keep butting into other people's business. After all, accepting defeat is such a personal matter."
"Agh."
"Don't you listen to him, Yuge." said Joey. "Remember everything at stake here. Your Grandpa, Mokuba, Kaiba."
"They're all counting on you, Yugi." said Tea. "And we know that you're going to come through for all of them!"
"Yeah!" shouted Paige. "Show Pegasus what it means to be a Muto!"
"You can do it! We believe in you!" shouted Tea.
"Yeah!" said Joey.
"Joey, Paige and Tea are right. I just have to remember what I'm fighting for here." thought Yugi as Yami closed his eyes. "To save the soul of my grandfather and the souls of both the Kaiba brothers, too. Hmm. I can't let them down."
"Well, seein' as how jumpin's out of the question, I'd say we're as good as caught." said Tristan, looking at their dead end.
"There they are! Come on!" shouted Guard 2, seeing Tristan and Bakura.
"Get 'em!" said Guard 1.
"Well, we tried." said Tristan.
"What do you mean, 'we tried'?" asked Yami Bakura. "We are not captured just yet."
"What are you talkin' about?" asked Tristan. "We're totally outmanned."
"We wont be after I enlist some help from the Shadow Realm." said Yami Bakura, looking back at the guards.
"Huh?" said Tristan, seeing him pull out his deck from his pocket. "The Shadow Realm? This can't be good."
"Yugi!" Tea and Paige cried out.
"Hang tough!" said Joey.
"If I give up hope now, I'll lose those 3 forever and Paige will never forgive me." thought Yugi. "Their souls will remain imprisoned in the Shadow Realm, and Pegasus will remain free to continue his evil ways with no one to stop him."
Pegasus laughs as Yami ground his teeth. "I cant let that happen." Yugi continued. "I cant give up! As hopeless as it seems, I have to keep battling. I have to save my friends."
"Your friends?" asked Pegasus, laughing internally. "Yugi-Boy, you cant even save yourself. Ha ha ha ha! Ha ha ha ha ha!"
