Tsukishima's team were first to serve, with Daichi up in the serving spot. Hinata watched with a keen eye as Daichi held the ball out, 'Standing serve, easy enough to recieve.' He thought as he watched daichi serve the ball. It wasn't too floaty so Hinata was able to pass the ball easily to Kageyama. Kageyama glanced at Hinata, who shook his head as he didn't run up. Hinata didn't feel like he was warm enough. Kageyama nodded, "Tanaka-san!" He shouted as he set a fast tempo ball for Tanaka, who grinned as he jumped and spiked the ball into the blockers, tooling off Tsukishima's arm. "OH YEAHHHHHH!" Tanaka yelled as he took off his shirt and swung it around. Kageyama and Hinata watched their senpai's exaggerated celebration in awe as Tanaka had spiked the ball confidently into the blockers. Sugawara sighed on the sidelines, "I hope Tanaka's rowdy-ness doesn't rub off on the first years." He said, with his future self cursing at him for jinxing him.

Daichi clapped his hands, "Don't mind, Tanaka is a good spiker, but he's not unstoppable." Daichi said cooly, with Yamaguchi and Tsukishima nodding in agreement. It was Tanaka who was up to serve for Hinata's team, where he did a standing serve like Daichi. 'Another standing serve huh? I guess only me and Kageyama have jump serves.' He noted as a point of interest. Tanaka sent it over, with it being recieved by Daichi. Hinata moved up beside Kageyama in the front court to block with him. He exhaled softly as he scanned the other teams offense. Daichi was moving to the left of the court, Tsukishima was the setter and Yamaguchi was their middle attacker.

When Hinata began his training for indoor, he learned how fast the game was compared to beach. So he began to train himself mentally, using the books his dad had as guidelines. He knew a team's offense only has a few seconds to score a point, he wanted to find a way to control those seconds. The same theory applies for defense, he needed to take in all the information from the court and use it to find out who will get the ball. Over time, his perception of the indoor game had slowed down, the speed was the same as how it was for him on the beach. It felt comfortable for Hinata, he could run through the simulations he had of the opponent's attacking possibilities.

'Pass is slightly high, difficult to set standing, Tsukishima has to jump set, possible dump due to being in the front row.' Hinata thought as he considered the attackers. 'Daichi-san is the most experienced, he could hit a toss from Tsukishima no problem. Yamaguchi is slightly taller and is Tsukishima's friend so they have the most chemistry.' Hinata watched as Tsukishima began to go into his jump set form, it was a very basic form, Kageyama could read it too. 'His hands aren't as low for a middle quick, has to be-!' Hinata paused his thought as he watched the toss leave Tsukishima's hands and towards Daichi. Hinata smiled as he ran to Daichi, squaring himself before jumping.

(Moments before)
(Tsukishima's POV)

'Pass is a little high, I'll set it to Daichi-san with the added time, using Yamaguchi as a decoy.' Tsukishima thought as he shifted himself to jump set. He wasn't the best at setting but he could do the basics. However, as Tsukishima set the ball, he felt a little uneasy, like he was being watched by something. When he set the ball to Daichi, his unease reached its climax as he watched the small orange haired player zip to Daichi. His movements were fast but his blocking technique was refined, squaring himself so he could jump vertically up. 'He's not a libero?' Tsukishima questioned before his jaw dropped. 'H-He can jump so high!' Tsukishima thought as Hinata kept rising in the air for the block.

(Back to present)

The rest of the team watched in awe as Hinata blocked Daichi's spike, causing it to land in the court. Hinata landed back on the ground and smiled as he clenched his fist. "I got a block!" Hinata exclaimed as Kageyama scoffed "Congrats, you learned how to jump up for a block Shrimp." He said, causing the two to start going at each other. As they scuffled cartoonishly, everyone besides Tanaka, Daichi and Suga were still in awe by Hinata's jump and block. "He's so small, yet he could block Daichi-san." Ennoshita said in a amazement, with everyone nodding in unison. Narita blew the whistle, causing the teams to reset into their positions. Tanaka returned to the serving spot, hitting the serve to Yamaguchi. Yamaguchi recieved the ball, however it swayed a little to the right of the court. "S-sorry, cover!" He exclaimed, Daichi then moved swiftly, getting to the ball and passing it high for Tsukishima. "Get the last one Tsukishima!" Daichi shouted, Tsukishima nodded and spiked the ball.

Hinata and Kageyama jumped for the block, their timing a bit early, with Kageyama getting a one touch on the ball. "One touch!" he said as Tanaka recieved the ball. As they landed, Tanaka began his run up, causing Tsukishima and Yamaguchi to move closer to him due to the first play. Kageyama glanced at Hinata again, curious if he wanted to spike now. Hinata noticed and just pointed up, nodding. Kageyama nodded, setting a slow and high ball "Four!" Kageyama said with a smirk. Tsukishima and Yamaguchi tilted their heads in confusion, shifting to Hinata's side. Tanaka, Daichi and Sugawara smiled, knowing what was about to happen.

Hinata ran up, pushing against the floor as he carried all his momentum up vertically. Tsukishima and Yamaguchi jumped to block Hinata, assuming his block height was the highest he could go. However, they watched as Hinata was still rising when they reached their own peak. Hinata spiked the ball above their falling block in an instant, causing it to bounce off Daichi's forearm and land out of bounds. As Hinata landed back down, Yamaguchi was awestruck, while Tsukishima just looked at Hinata with a look of curiosity. Hinata then walked over and held out a high five for Kageyama, "Nice toss." He said with a chuckle as Kageyama returned the high five. "I'm gonna start setting faster, so keep that in mind." Kageyama said, with Hinata nodding, "I'll take any toss, I will spike any and every ball you send me." he said confidently.

Sugawara smiled, clapping his hands "And that lady and gentlemans, is how you shock everyone!" He exclaimed as everyone tried to figure out what had just happened. Daichi watched as his teammates began to walk to him. "Thats what we're up against, Hinata is an adept hitter, he scored over 30 points on his own against Kageyama's middle school team. His vertical is ridiculous, and his speed is like lightning. He's also surprisingly intelligent when it comes to volleyball-" Hinata took it as a compliment, although Kageyama tried to jeer him and Tsukishima gave him a smug glance for a second. "And with Kageyama, they'll be a deadly duo." Tsukishima nodded while Yamaguchi felt more dejected. "However, there are ways for you to fight." Daichi said with a smirk. Yamaguchi and Tsukishima were a little confused but a bulb went off in Tsukishima's head as he replayed that moment in his mind. "We started falling when we jumped at the same time as him... so stagger the timing." Tsukishima said as Daichi was a little taken aback by Tsukishima's quick deduction. Daichi nodded as a reply while Yamaguchi looked in confusion. Tsukishima just tapped him on the shoulder. "Just follow my lead." He said as he wiped the lenses of his glasses.

The match continued, Hinata went to spike again, however he noticed Tsukishima and Yamaguchi didnt jump at the same time like before. 'Huh, Timing stagger, fast learners, its a good counter in theory, but-' Hinata spiked the ball as Tsukishima and Yamaguchi were just starting to jump for the block. 'Difficult to do in practice.' He thought smugly as Tsukishima 'tch'ed, "Timing was too late." Tsukishima cursed as he reset himself. Tanaka went to serve again, but the ball hit the net and landed back on the court. "Dang! Sorry bruhs!" He apologised, with Hinata and Kageyama saying "Don't mind"/"Next time". Tsukishima rotated to the back, ready to serve. He sent a standing serve which drifted towards Hinata. He recieved it and began his run up, Tanaka following suit. Kageyama sent a faster, second tempo set to Hinata, who spiked it over the two shorter blockers with ease. 'Could've been higher! The speed was fine, I just needed more height on it so Hinata could have used all of his spike range.' Kageyama thought as he moved to the serving spot.

Hinata's team rotated, with Kageyama up to serve. He began his pre serve routine, calming himself before tossing the ball up and hitting a top spin serve. However Daichi managed to recieve it near perfectly, sending it to Yamaguchi, who tried to dump it, however Hinata appeared, kill blocking the dump. 'A little obvious, they mustn't play setter.' Hinata thought. The rallies continued, Hinata and Kageyama clearly dominating, with Tanaka getting mostly free looks due to the blockers focusing on Hinata. Hinata wasn't really needed for recieving, so he just ran up for every possible toss to him. With the set ending with Hinata's team 25 points to Tsukishima's team 10 points. The two teams shook hands and Daichi grabbed their attentions. "We'll switch up the teams, with the first years playing with a new first year each time. We'll also sub in other members, like myself switching with Ennoshita and so on." Daichi said as the teams mixed.

The new teams were:

Team Hinata: Hinata, Tsukishima and Ennoshita.

Team Kageyama: Kageyama, Sugawara and Yamaguchi.

Hinata went up to Tsukishima and Ennoshita,"I'll play setter this game, don't worry, I'll send you the best toss I can." He said, a smile appearing on his face as he pointed to himself. "Whatever you say." Tsukishima shrugged nonchalantly while Ennoshita nodded. Hinata was in the front court with Tsukishima and Ennoshita in the back court. It was Yamaguchi's serve, so he hit a simple standing serve but it was more floaty than the other standing serves. Hinata raised his eye brow in curiosity, noting to himself how Yamaguchi's standing float serve goes. Ennoshita recieved it dead on however. As it floated in the air, Hinata glanced at Tsukishima. "Tsukishima!" He said as Tsukishima ran for a quick in the middle. 'Tsukishima is tall, spike reach is high, high set' Hinata thought as he set the ball a little high. Sugawara and Kageyama watched on the other side, Sugawara was the only one to talk. "Man, that's a nice toss..." Sugawara said in admiration while Kageyama stayed silent. Tsukishima jumped in the air and spiked the ball, feeling a little surprised by how easy of a toss it was to hit. 'It took my high reach into account without over doing it.' He spiked it into the Kageyama and Sugawara's block, where it bounced off, falling to the ground.

"How was that toss?" Hinata asked, Tsukishima nodded "Nice, easy to hit." He said, causing Hinata to smile brightly. "Did you feel a little restrained by it? Like you had to jump lower? Or swing lower?" Hinata asked, causing Tsukishima's sweat to drop 'He's asking a lot of questions.' Tsukishima thought back to the spike, his runup and jump. He knew he could probably jump higher, but to push himself that far, isn't really worth the trouble. "No, I'm happy with that set." Tsukishima said, with Hinata nodding as they reset.

It was Hinata's serve, he spun the ball in his hands as he inhaled and exhaled softly. He read the defence, Yamaguchi and Sugawara were in the back row, with Kageyama in the front. 'Suga-san has more experience than Yamaguchi, so he could recieve better than him, however Yamaguchi is slightly taller so his reach is longer.' Hinata thought, deciding on where to aim. He tossed the ball up, running up and serving the ball towards Yamaguchi, where it grazed his shoulder. It manged to stay up so Kageyama sprinted over and set Sugawara. Sugawara jumped and spiked the ball to the right of Tsukishima's block. Ennoshita was there, able to recieve it. "Sorry, short!" He yelled as the pass was just short of where Hinata had moved to. Hinata shifted under the ball and raised his hands up. "Ennoshita-san" he said as he tossed a slow set for Ennoshita. Ennoshita noticed how it floated in the and questioned if Hinata had gravity powers for a second. It just seemed to be in the air for so long. He jumped and spiked it, however Kageyama and Sugawara managed to block it.

"Sorry Ennoshita-san, the toss was a little too far back." Hinata said as he reflected on the toss to Ennoshita. He had sent it much closer to the attack line then he would have liked. Ennoshita shook his head "You're fine Hinata, that was only your second set today. Still getting warmed up." He said, lightening Hinata's worries a little. As they turned to see who was going to serve next, Hinata grinned. "Its been a while since I've recieved his serve, let's see how this'll go." He said as he took a breath in and out. Kageyama got ready to serve, he knew aiming at Hinata wouldn't be the best option but he wanted to see if Hinata could recieve it, even after a few months from the last time. Kageyama tossed the ball into the air, letting it roll off his finger tips before running up and smacking it hard, giving it a nasty spin. 'It felt good.' Kageyama thought to himself as the ball left his palm.

Hinata's muscles twitched as he watched the serve come towards him, he could see the ball spinning in the air. 'With that spin, it'll-!' Hinata stopped his thought as he watched the ball take a sharp turn right. Hinata reset his feet and pushed off the ground quickly as he dove for the ball. He managed to recieve it, diving on his chest as he watched the ball go in the air. 'Long.' "Dang it, it's long! Sorry Tsukishima." He said as he cursed himself for overpassing. Daichi and Tanaka on the sidelines shivered at the sight. "It was Kageyama's first warmed up serve, the ball didn't have that unreal spin against you Daichi-san, did it?" Tanaka asked, Daichi shook his head. "No, he was still pretty dead on with his serves. This is the first time he tried to add a hard spin on it, I mean it changed course so suddenly." Daichi then looked at Hinata. "And he managed to get it up on the first try." Daichi said, however Tanaka chuckled to himself. "Still overpassed it." Tanaka added, which made Hinata blush in embarrassment.

"Chance ball!" Yamaguchi yelled as he recieved the ball high. Hinata got back up and was surprised that it was Sugawara setting the ball, but then he remembered that Sugawara is a setter. He watched as Sugawara sent the ball to Kageyama, the toss was perfect, Tsukishima tried to atleast block the cross shot off, but in the end Kageyama spiked it straight down the line. Ennoshita dove for the ball, getting it up slightly. Hinata zipped over to the ball and began to adjust himself under it, lowering his height. Tsukishima watched Hinata, remembering what he had said to him. Tsukishima thought Hinata was crazy but he knew what he had to do. Tsukishima began his run up as Hinata felt the world slow down around him. 'Tsukishima, half way through run up. Ennoshita-san, not usable. Must set Tsukishima.' Hinata's brain thought as he felt the ball touch the tip of his fingers. He flicked his wrists as fast as he could, redirecting all the momentum he had gained to get under the ball over to the ball itself. The ball floated high and fast, Tsukishima watched the ball float towards him and extended his second step further than usual. 'The toss is a little close to the net but it'll do.' He thought as he spiked the ball down on to the court as Sugawara and Kageyama were a second late for the block.

Sugawara and Kageyama couldn't help but grin, despite losing the point. As setters themselves, they knew how difficult it was to set a low ball, opting to underarm it. "I'm surprised Hinata was able to set such a low pass." Kinnoshita mentioned, with Tanaka nodding while celebrating with Hinata and Tsukishima (who was roped into the celebrations.). "Hinata-kun's short stature allows him to get under those low passes with ease actually." Shimizu said, surprising most of the boys with the observation. "His agility also helps as the faster he gets under, the more time he has. That paired with his high game sense, he can toss up decent sets." She added, causing Hinata to get flustered. "Ah dont give me that much cre-" "However, his accuracy is only average. Tsukishima-kun had to take an extended second step to compensate." She said, causing Hinata to fall the ground in a slump. Tsukishima laughed, "So I had to make up for your short comings." He said smugly, causing Kageyama to sputter a little in laughter and Hinata to look at Tsukishima in comedic disdain. Tsukishima grinned, "It was a nice toss, considering how you were in an odd position." He said, his grin subsiding.

The 3v3's continued till the end of practice, Tsukishima and Yamaguchi were both breathing heavily, 6 sets in a row to a full 25 points felt like torture. The second and third years were slightly gassed, Narita had joined in the 4th set with Shimizu covering as referee. Hinata and Kageyama only had bits of sweat dripping from they brows. Sugawara looked at the two in horror, "How do you two still look as if you could play atleast 12 sets?!" He said in an exasperated tone. Kageyama answered first, "I've trained my stamina for the past 8 years or so. Setting in a match for full sets is mentally and physically taxing. I also wanted to stay on the court longer." He said. Hinata nodded in agreement, "yeah, compared to beach volleyball, indoor isn't as tiring." Hinata said, surprising everyone. His eyebrow raised, "what?"

"So that's why you're so good! You've played beach volleyball!" Tanaka said. "Why didn't you tell us?" Sugawara then asked. "You didn't ask." Hinata replied with a chuckle. Yamaguchi, aswell as Kinnoshita, looked lost. "I've never seen or played beach volleyball myself. What's it like?" Yamaguchi asked. "In beach volleyball, each team only has two members." Daichi said as the two underclassman looked at him. "They play on a slightly smaller court with sand. The two of them have to protect the entire court by themselves." Yamaguchi nodded with Kinnoshita in shock. "They also have to deal with the outdoor elements, like the sun and the wind. Hinata's immense stamina and athletic ability are partially due to playing in the heat and on a surface that isn't solid enough to push off of." Daichi finally added. They both nodded in understanding, but Tsukishima raised his hand. "Japan isn't really known for its wide, sandy beaches though?" He queried. Hinata nodded, "I used to play in Rio when I lived there." He said plainly, everyone just nodded, no longer surprised by Hinata's new facts. "So thats why there wasn't any buzz about you in middle school, you weren't here." Kageyama deduced, he was curious as to why Hinata wasn't in Monthly Volleyball at all.

As all the boys began to clean up everything, Takeda-sensei walked into the door. "Hi everyone, sorry I came so late. We were stuck in a 'New school year' introductory meeting." He said as everyone turned to him. They all bowed and Takeda smiled, "I managed to do one important thing after it, I got us a practice match." He said as everyone 'Oooh'd in surprise. "A practice match? Against who?" Daichi asked as he lifted the rolled up net off the ground. "Aoba Johsai. I went up there to confirm it. However-" Takeda paused before looking at Kageyama. "They want Kageyama-kun to be the setter for the entire match." Takeda said as Tanaka raised his eyebrow. "Excuse me?" Takeda turned to face Tanaka, who's face had a killer-like expression on it. "Suga-san is our official setter though, so we'll play-" "We'll play Kageyama." Sugawara interjected, causing his teammates to look at him in surprise.

"We don't get chances to play teams often, especially a top four team like Seijoh. We have to take this opportunity." Sugawara said as Daichi and Tanaka went up to him. "A-Are you sure about this Suga?" Daichi asked, with Sugawara nodding. Kageyama felt conflicted by this but Hinata nudged him a little. "In the end, it's Sugawara's decision to sit on the sideline. Don't beat yourself up about it, our senpais know what they're doing." Hinata said with a smile, easing Kageyama's thoughts.

As they finished up clearing the court, Shimizu told the first years to wait in the middle of the court as she walked into one of the gym's utility rooms. Daichi walked in front of the first years as Shimizu came back with a box. "You four are now full fledged members of Karasuno Boys Volleyball Club. To show your allegiance with the club, we all present you with these-" Daichi paused as he handed out a jacket to the first years. He then stood back and grinned, "Ready? AND-!" All the members turned to show the teams name at the back of their jackets. "WELCOME TO KARASUNO VOLLEYBALL CLUB!" They all yelled, besides Shimizu and Takeda-sensei, who watched with a soft smile.

Hinata's heart raced as he looked at his jacket, he made it!

"Karasuno...I'm finally here..." he said faintly as he clutched the jacket close to his heart.
