I just want to thank Amber Night and Lunar Flower for sharing their ideas. And big thanks to FoxyKhai0209 for her character Lani and Skerry Island.
I hope you guys enjoy it.
It was a festive time on Motunui. Because today was the Dragon Festival!
The people of Motunui prepared such a big celebration. The Merpeople and the Amphibian people arrive to join in the celebration. Of course, the dragons. They are not missing out on this celebration. They appreciate the humans in Motunui for throwing such an event. Cayden's packmates came to the party as well since Te Fiti insisted that they should go. There, they met the Goldenhearts, who were surprised as they are, thinking of myths like them. And they too along with the dragons enjoy the humans in Motunui. Unlike some humans (*Coughs*! Vikings! *Coughs*!), even though there were Vikings that made peace with them. But they prefer here since it's warmer and free from hunters. Speaking of which, it's time to party!
Music filled the air as dancers started to perform on the stage with dragons, merpeople, and humans watching them with enjoyment. Soon, both People of Motunui and Aquatica started performing a song to the dragons. Female dancers of Motunui were dancing on the beach while the mermaids were in the water while some Amphibian girls were on the land.
(Beautiful Creatures by Barbatuques from Rio 2)
Let's come together, singing love and harmonia...
We are so different, but the same inside our hearts...
Beautiful colors, as far as the eye can see, ah...
Open your wings, fly when you hear the call...
Let's celebrate, calling all beautiful creatures.
Come spread your wings, dance, and sing songs about freedom.
Like la-la-la, ooh-ooh!
One for the jungle família.
Like ba-ba-ba, boom-boom!
Calling all beautiful creatures...
The dancers moved away allowing the male fire dancers to perform their act to the dragons, showing them how they see the fire as not a weapon of destruction but also light and warmth. Dancers were close by as they performed together in perfect sync with some Monstrous Nightmares, igniting their fires, but also being careful when performing.
Come this way, celebrate...
Laugh and dance all the way...
Follow me, sing along...
La-la-la-la, ooh-ooh...
Then Male dancers came in, doing amazing dancer moves with some Deadly Nadders and Changewings following their beat.
Já disse que Jade chegou
Já disse que já disse que Jade chegou
Já disse que Jade chegou
Já disse que já disse que Jade chegou
Then Bug Mau came zipping by before turning to his human form, dancing and performing by spinning his hook around, as he sings along with the beat.
Pop-Pop, I am a Pop-Pop!
I am (scatting) I am your Pop-Pop!
Yeah, I am the Pop-Pop-Pop (scatting) Pop-Pop-Pop
Hey, I am the Pop-Pop, hey (scatting) Pop! (Woo!)
Maui turns into a Giant Hawk and flies away while the performers come and start dancing again with their People of Aquatica and the dragons.
Let's celebrate, calling all beautiful creatures!
Come spread your wings,
Dance and sing songs about freedom!
Like la-la-la, ooh-ooh!
One for the jungle família
Like ba-ba-ba, boom-boom
Calling all beautiful creatures...
As they finished, everyone erupted with roars and cheers. It was a fun event for everyone. They all celebrate the Dragon's Festival together as one and would give offerings to Lord Draco and Te Fiti as well. The children of both Motunui and Aquatica would play together with the dragon hatchlings, with parental supervision. The dragons were bonding with the humans of Motunui, letting them feel what is life to be in the sky. Moana and her friends were also there, enjoying the party with their people and family. Moana was wearing her chief outfit while Keoni was wearing his own leader attire. They both are wearing their engagement necklaces. Moana and Keoni will get married when they come of age. It would be a great event, especially for their parents since they dream of having future grandchildren.
"Dang, this celebration is going great!" Tara said with a grin, as she was wearing an attire that matches Moana's old dress, but a shorter skirt with a short under it.
"Yeah! Look at them! Everyone is here!" Coral exclaims happily to see humans, dragons, and aquatic people getting along very well.
"Well, they were friends many years ago." Yasmina said with a smile, seeing the Goldenhearts are with the Vahloks, who were the only male dragons that didn't go head over heels to them.
Nasir chuckled. "Well, we won't have to worry about them finding mates." He spoke with a smile.
Malie looked at the Vahloks and Goldenhearts with a small smile on her face. "Yeah…no worries." She whispers out.
No one notices Malie's sudden change of behavior but Tara. The Lycanwing Girl knows that Malie was deeply in love with this Lani guy. I mean, she learned the dark history between Malie's people and the Vikings. They literally tried to kidnap her people so long ago to make them brides for warlords. Tara didn't want Malie's heart to be broken, I mean, she cares for her, she cares for all her friends. Tara was cut off when she heard Coral squeals in delight.
"Tilly's here!" Coral said in delight as she pointed at the beach to see the female Submaripper showing up.
The children of Motunui and Aquatica cheered at the sight of Tilly and swam over to her in delight, who greeted them with a purr. The Tidal Class Dragons helped some Motunui kids to go over to Tilly since they were still inexperienced swimmers. Coral claps her hand in delight at the sight of the Submaripper, giggling with a smile as waves at Tilly.
"It still amazes me that you guys befriended a Submaripper." Tara complimented.
"Yeah, well, Moana and Malie were the ones who befriended her." Keoni corrected, holding his girlfriend close. "After all, they are one with the dragons."
Moana playfully shoves her boyfriend with a smile. "Oh, you."
They all chuckled by this, finding it amusing, before Nasir suddenly turned to another direction. "So…what shall we do with him?"
They followed his gaze to see the Purple Death from afar. He was standing a few feet from the party goers. He was huge, literally. His size cast a shadow on half the island. Everyone was kind of at the edge at the sight of the Purple Death. They can get used to Tilly's huge size, but the Purple Death was bigger than her and scarier looking. However, he doesn't seem to oppose them for the Purple Death just watched the humans interact with other species as he was curious.
"Huh, yeah, that's a problem." Moana agreed to them.
"He's been here since we came back from Norse Region two days ago, he still didn't leave to find a new territory." Gil said, scratching his head in confusion.
"Or maybe because he took a liking to…you." Tara points to Moana.
"Me?" Moana asked in confusion as she pointed at herself.
"Yes, you, since you got that rusty sword out of him, he's forever in your debt. Plus, you always check on him with Aliikai, giving him some fish or a mango. He watches over you like a hawk, making sure you're safe when you help out preparing the festival. He's basically a big daddy…Hey! That should we call him." Tara said with a grin.
Moana looks at her in confusion. "Call him what?"
"Big Daddy." Tara said with a grin.
"Big Daddy, really?" Moana asked her red-haired friend with a sarcastic look.
"You're not serious about naming him that?" Keoni questions the Lycanwing Girl.
Tara shrugged with a grin. "Why not? He's big, he acts like a dad, and it suits him." She explains with a smile. "And besides, we can always call him Bigby."
"Bigby?" The group asked in confusion.
"Eeyup. A great name for him." Tara said with a grin.
Nasir crosses his arms. "I doubt he would appreciate those names."
"Wanna bet?" Tara challenged with a smirk.
"…No, thank you." Nasir said, not wanting to bet on this ridiculous antique.
"Let's go and talk to him, maybe he has a name for himself." Yasmina suggested.
"Find by me." Gil said with a shrug.
The group made their way to the Purple Death, who was being accompanied by Aliikai. The Night Fury was crooning at him like she was having a conversation, which they were. The Purple Death appreciates Aliikai's company since she, and her friends, are the only ones who do not fear him for his size.
"Hey, big guy!" Tara called out to him.
The Purple Death turned his massive head towards Tara and her friends. But he mostly was looking at Moana, seeing that she is well and okay before Tara asked him a question. "Okay, grunt once for yes and two times for no if you like to be called Big Daddy or Bigby? Go!"
The Purple Death stared at her in confusion. He always knew that she was the crazy one. But hearing those names…it sounded interesting. I mean, he is big, and he does act a bit like a father towards Moana and to Aliikai. So, why not? The Purple Death grunted one time, indicating that he agrees. Tara grins at this while the others are shocked that the Purple Death agrees to be called Big Daddy/Bigby.
"HA! Told ya so!" Tara said with a grin.
"Okay, okay, you are right. Don't rub it in." Nasir said with a scowl as he crossed his arms.
Tara pointed at him, still grinning at her victory and spoke. "I will continue and ya can't stop me."
As Nasir sighs, the Purple Death suddenly made a small series of grunts and growls, which Yasmina translated. "He said that the males and others can call him Bigby while we, the girls, call him Big Daddy."
"Seriously? He wants us to call him Big Daddy?" Moana asked Yasmina, thinking if it was a joke.
Yasmina nodded. "Indeed, he wants us to call him that while the rest call him Bigby." She answered, earning a nod from the Purple Death, who is now called Bigby.
"Okay then, from now on, we'll call you Big Daddy as our nickname to you while the others call ya Bigby." Tara said with a grin. "See? Everything works out…now let's party!"
With that, Tara cheered along with some nearby dragons. The others just shook their heads at her but smiled at her enthusiasm. They all party with the others. Bigby stayed where he is as he watched the others have fun. Though he was now being accompanied by little hatchlings, from humans, sea people, and dragons, who were running underneath his shadow. The group went to the beach as they saw Moana's parents and Keoni's parents were talking with Malie's parents at the beach, laughing and joking about their children when they were young, making them embarrassed in the process as they told their parents not to tell them that, making their parents laugh in amusement.
Malie, meanwhile, was looking at the ocean, seeing Tidal Class Dragons with humans and sea people. It was peaceful to see the sight of them having fun. But her thoughts moved aside when she saw a mermaid talking with a male Motunui. Malie smiled at this as he thought came towards Lani. The young mermaid couldn't stop thinking about the blonde Viking boy after saving him from drowning during the battle of the Purple Death. She has a strange feeling towards him, feelings that were forbidden to her kind. Tara was the only one who saw Malie's strange behavior and walked over to her, placing a hand on the mermaid's shoulder, causing Malie to look at her in surprise.
"Mal…you okay?" Tara asked in concern, letting go of her hand from Malie's shoulder.
Malie gave a kind smile to her. "I'm fine, just thinking, that's all." She said kindly.
Tara wasn't sure by this. "Ya sure? 'Cause you were thinking really deeply." She pointed out to her. "…You're thinking about that Lani guy?"
Malie sighs a bit, knowing that Tara had it figured it out, she nodded. "Yes…ever since I met him…I can't stop thinking about him. As if my heart burst whenever I thought of him or saw him."
Tara looked at her in concern. "Mal…please don't tell me that you're in love with Lani?"
"I guess there is a thing as love at first sight. But…but I never knew that I had fallen to a Viking."
Tara sighs in concern. "Mal, I don't know why chose him, but you have to be careful. I don't want you to get hurt."
"I'll be fine, Tara, don't worry about me." Malie assured before walking over to Cayden, who was with Solaria, as they sat close to the beach.
Tara sighs as she shook her head. She knew not to interfere, but…but she doesn't want her friend to get hurt or suffer for a broken heart. Moana came over to Tara as she noticed her staring at Malie with concern. "Tara? Is everything okay with you and Malie?" She asked worriedly.
"It's fine, it's just…" Tara sighs a bit and continues. "She's fallen in love with Lani."
Moana gasped in surprise as she made a small smile. "Aww…it's kind romantic."
"No, it's not." Tara said, making Moana confused. "After Malie saved Lani from Big Daddy, Cayden told me the dark history of Merpeople and the Vikings. Turns out, Vikings kidnapped their mermaids and sold them off to tyrants, so they can become their soon to be brides, and create a devastating war between man and sea."
Moana was shocked and surprised to hear this. "That's terrible."
"It was." Nereus's voice came. The two girls turned around to see Nereus, swimming towards them at the beach. "It was a terrible war between us. We almost destroyed ourselves and the world in the process."
"What do you mean by almost destroying the world?" Tara asked carefully, not liking to hear that part.
"Yes, we merpeople almost flooded the planet in our war against the Vikings." Nereus explained to the girls, shocking them in the process.
"Your people tried to flood the whole world?" Moana asked in shock.
"Indeed, we would've flooded the earth, but gods prevented it and made sure that the merpeople were hidden away from man." Nereus explained as he lowered his head.
"And man forgot about that war through time…by Odin's ghost no wonder you guys were hidden away." Tara said to Nereus.
Nereus nodded. "It was the only way to keep the peace. But back then, before the war, Vikings and Merpeople were once friends until we were betrayed by them. That is why we no longer trust the Vikings, only the people of Motunui are the only ones we trust, for their hearts are pure."
"You were once friends with the Vikings?" Moana asked Nereus in shock.
"Once we were friends with Vikings, we trusted each other, helping with our daily task, but it all changed when Vikings became…greedy." Nereus said the last part seriously. "They believe that we were too naïve and used it as their advantage. But they failed to realize how dangerous we can be."
Moana and Tara were silent by this. They didn't know what to say. They never knew that the Merpeople had a dark history of flooding the world, all because the Vikings betrayed them. Tara begins to wonder how the Vikings changed so easily. Was it her good for nothing dad or it was instincts to be greedy? She will never know. Then suddenly, Tara said something that surprised both Nereus and Moana.
"I understand your dark history with the Vikings but…but Malie told me that Lani isn't a bad Viking." She said as she looked over to Malie, who was laughing as Solaria nuzzles her face. "She said to me once that Lani was different, special even. And…and I think that we should trust him, like you guys trust me, so…maybe, just maybe, you guys can trust him and the Vikings once again."
Nereus stared at Tara briefly, like he was observing her judgment and words. The dark history of the war still plagued his mind. He does not wish his younger sister to suffer a broken heart. But if what Tara said is true, then they could be friends with the Vikings again, and yet, part of him was stubborn to not do it. So many thoughts in his mind, he wonders, how he will decide.
"If you are sure, Tara, then maybe one day we can be allies with Vikings again." Nereus said seriously.
"Then we just hope that one day, you guys can be in peace with them like you did with Moana's people." Tara stated.
"We shall see, Tara." Nereus said with a small smile before retreating back to the water.
Both girls watched as Nereus swam away towards his parents while the young Chieftess looked at Tara with a smile. "You really care for Malie, don't you?"
Tara glanced at her with a shrug. "Meh, gotta look out for my pack. And if this Lani guy ever breaks Mal's heart, I'm gonna introduce to him my little friends. Their names Pain and Agony!" Tara brought both her fists up with a grin on her face.
Moana stared at her friend with disturbance and hint of worry. She lowers Tara's fists down and says to her. "Maybe you shouldn't introduce your friends to Lani."
"Pfft…suit yourself." Tara said before smirking. "Now, let's join the others, and party hard!"
Moana laughs as Tara grabbed her hand and takes her to the others, where they start having fun for the while day of the Dragon Festival with everyone they love and cared about.
Meanwhile back at Berk.
After taking Lani to Gothi to recover, the Riders went to the Great Hall to inform Stoick and the members of Berk's council (Gobber the Belch, Spitelout Jorgenson, Not-so-Silent Sven, Mulch, and Bucket) about the Purple Death. They told them how the Sky Destroyer came out of nowhere to fight it and leave them. They didn't know why but they have a feeling that the Sky Destroyer knows how to deal with the Purple Death. Gobber agreed to this since he knows a little bit of the Sky Destroyer.
"It's probably trying to protect its territory." Gobber said, referring to the Sky Destroyer. "The Purple Death was a threat to it and fought off to who knows where."
"But still…it saved us in the process and led it away from Berk." Hiccup added to the explanation.
"Let's not have guards down." Stoick said seriously. "We have to keep our defenses up and keep an eye for any signs of both Sky Destroyer and Purple Death."
Everyone agrees about this, they don't know what will happen if both dangerous dragons would come and battle here instead. They all left the Great Hall, and the raiders went to Gothis's hut. There, they saw Gothi checking on Lani. She was making sure that Lani didn't have any serious injuries, so far, there was nothing. He just needed time to recover from the cold water.
"Hey, Lani, how are you feeling?" Hiccup asked with concern.
"Doing fine, Gothi said I'll be fine, but I have to keep it easy." Lani said with a smile.
"That's good to hear." Hiccup said in relief.
"So, what did Chief Stoick and the council say about our encounter with the Purple Death and the Sky Destroyer?" Lani suddenly asked, becoming concerned.
"Everyone on Berk is on their guard. We don't know when those two dragons will come back or not." Hiccup answered to Lani, though it didn't make him stop worrying.
Lani stayed with Gothi to recover while the riders patrol around Berk, making sure to keep an eye for the Sky Destroyer or the Purple Death. After a hard day of patrolling, they couldn't find the two dangerous dragons, thinking that they took their battle elsewhere. Though Lani has doubts about it. I mean, two dangerous dragons suddenly disappearing, it's strange. When night came, Lani was sitting at the edge of Gothi's hut, looking at the ocean. Sandstorm was sleeping beside him as he gently strokes her back. Lani has many thoughts in his mind as couldn't help but think back on the recent events on what just happened with the Purple Death. He barely remembered what happened, all he remembers is that he nearly drowned within the ocean's raging waves until someone saved him and brought him to safety. And the next he knew, he woke up at the beach and saw the blurry image of Malie, singing beautifully to him before she disappeared when the Dragon Riders and Sandstorm came looking for him. Lani felt no doubt that it was really Malie that saved his life. But the riders didn't believe him, thinking that Lani must've hallucinated about, and yet, it felt so real. Lani releases a sigh before he hears someone approaching from behind. He turns around to see Hiccup and Toothless coming up to him and Sandstorm.
"Hey, Lani, are you okay?" Hiccup asked in concern.
Lani replied with a nod. "Yeah…I'm fine." He whispers before turning back to the horizon.
Both Hiccup and Toothless looked at each other before the young Haddock made his way over to Lani and sat beside him while Toothless lay next to his rider. There was an awkward silence between the two lookalikes. They didn't know what to say or do since the recent events of the Purple Death still played in their minds. However, Hiccup was able to break the awkward silence by asking about Lani's life.
"So…Lani? How come I've never seen or met you before at Berk?" Hiccup asked Lani curiously.
Hearing this, Lani became silent. It's been long since he talked about his family. He only knows little about them before he was adopted to the Chief of Skerry Island. It's sad for Lani to remember his sad past, but it's best for Hiccup to know.
"I was born here at Berk with both my parents. But when I was two years old, my mother had died from her serious illness." Lani began his story of his past, feeling sad about the loss of his mother.
Hiccup felt pity for Lani's mother and spoke. "Oh, I'm sorry about your mother."
"It's fine, Hiccup. She may be gone, but she still lives in me." Lani said, placing a hand on his chest with a small smile across his face.
"What about your father?" Hiccup asked, wondering what happened to Lani's father.
"My father? Well, that story is kind of long and strange, he was different from the other Vikings." Lani said with a chuckle.
That caught Hiccup's curiosity as he looked at Lani. "What do you mean?"
"You see, my dad didn't come from Berk, I remember him telling me that he was washed up at Thor's Beach when he was a teen. Chief Brant, Stoick's father, found my dad there, unconscious, and took him to Gothi." Lani said as he remembered the story by heart. "When my dad woke up from his unconsciousness, he was being questioned by the Chief Brant, where he came from and why he was here."
"Woah, who knew my grandfather had trust issues?" Hiccup jokes, making Lani chuckle a bit.
"Yeah, but they are in war with dragons back then, and they don't trust people outside their village." Lani explained, knowing Vikings have trust issues. "Anyways, my dad told him that he's from a very far away region."
"Another region?!" Hiccup exclaimed in shock, waking Sandstrom in the process.
"I know right? It was strange yet amazing for me as well. Dad said that his region didn't have dragons, it was filled with peace and harmony without any war."
"It sounds like paradise." Hiccup said with a smile.
"It was." Lani smiles at this as he continues his story. "My dad said to Chief Brant that he and his friend were trying to sail when a storm came out of nowhere. My dad doesn't know what happened to his friend but…he thinks that he lost him during the storm."
"Oh…" Hiccup said sympathy.
Sandstorm nuzzles her rider gently, earning pats on the head by Lani. "And since my father doesn't know how to get back to his region, Chief Brant allowed him to stay at the village of Beak, but my dad was an outsider to the villagers since due to being from a faraway region, they don't trust him."
"It must've been hard for your dad, adjusting to a new land and culture." Hiccup said to Lani before worryingly asking Lani. "How did the villagers feel about your dad?"
"At first, the Vikings were distrustful to him, but soon got to know him. The Vikings trusted him and warmly welcomed him to their village.
That surprised Hiccup as he knows, Vikings are known to be very stubborn, they don't trust anyone so easily, especially outsiders. Hiccup asked how his dad was able to get the Berkians to trust him. Lani told him that his dad helps the Vikings of Berk with their chores, aka fishing. He has many techniques in catching fishes and helping them with their nets and sails. As it turns out, Lani's dad was a natural at the boats. Soon, his dad befriended Stoick the Vast and Gobber the Belch, they became good friends as both Viking males taught Lani's dad how to defend himself against dragons, much to Hiccup's surprise.
Soon, Lani tells Hiccup that one day, Chief Brant invited his dad to visit Skerry Island with Stoick and the few Berkians for an annual treaty signing with the Chief of Skerry Island. And that's when Lani's father met his mother named Ingrid. The two of them fell deeply in love as they spent time together a lot, but when it was time to leave, Lani's dad and mom would write letters to each other, and when years passed, they ended up getting married. Lani's mom stayed with his dad at Berk and together they had him.
"Wow, your parents must've been really happy." Hiccup said.
"They were, even though my dad was saddened by my mother's death, it didn't stop him from raising me with all the love he could give." Lani continued, smiling at the memory of his father.
Hiccup smiles at him. "Your dad really loves you."
"He did, he would even tell me stories about his region, how it's always bright and sunny, and not a single snowstorm."
Hiccup chuckled at this. "That would make a good home for the dragons."
"It would." Lani agrees with a chuckle. "And every night, dad would tell me stories. My favorite story was a powerful entity that created many islands."
"Woah…so, what happened to your father?"
Lani looked down at his hands sadly and replied. "He died from a terrible cold during the worst winter storms when I was only seven. I was soon taken in by the Skerry's Chief but not before a dragon raid happened. I got seriously injured and lost one of my legs. I was lucky that Chief Hallvard saved me on time, otherwise; I would've died."
Hiccup looked at him with sympathy. "Hey, things happened, my mom was taken by a dragon when I was still a baby during the dragon raid."
"I'm sorry for the loss of your mother, Hiccup." Lani said sympathetically. Silence took over again, both males feeling the loss of their loved ones was hard. But Hiccup decided to cheer up the mood.
"You know, I'm kind of curious about Skerry Island, Lani." Hiccup said to his friend. "What's it like?"
Lani looks at him with a smile and explains to Hiccup about his home. Skerry Island is like Isla of Berk except it's bigger and has a very large clearing that has a lagoon on the center where everyone can enjoy swimming. Then there's the village plaza with houses that were oceanic like that surrounds the island. It also has its own Great Hall but oceanic theme like and it was placed at the beach. The villagers of Skerry Island are like the people of Berk, except they have adventurous spirits in them, and they all love to sail out the ocean. But they always have to return back to their island to be with their family and people. And since Vikings and humans are now in peace, the People of Skerry can ride dragons now. Gronckle, Deadly Nadders, Zipplebacks, and different types of Tidal Class Dragons that lived there since Skerry Island is filled with many exotic fishes.
"Wow, that's amazing, but how come you guys don't have Monstrous Nightmares or Terrible Terrors?" Hiccup asked Lani.
"Well, truth be told, Skerry's forest easily gets on fire. When peace came with the dragons, thanks to you and Toothless, the villagers were able to tame and use Tidal Class Dragons to put out any wildfire. The Stoker Dragons left the island, knowing that they might set it off, they decided to find a new place to live. And it helped a lot on the island since there were less fire disasters from happening." Lani explained to Hiccup.
"It's a good thing the twins aren't here, they would say: 'where's the fun in that?'." Both Hiccup and Lani laughed at this.
"Hey, Hiccup, since you're curious about Skerry Island, why don't you and the others come along." Lani suggested.
"Really?" Hiccup asked curiously.
"Yeah! Since I'm heading back there tomorrow, maybe you guys can come along and see it."
"Hmm…what ya say, bud?" Hiccup asked his dragon, who roared in agreement. "We're in!"
"Great, we'll tell the others tomorrow and have to ask your dad's permission about this." Lani said, earning a nod from Hiccup.
But before he leaves, Hiccup asks. "By the way, Lani, what was your father's name?"
"His name?" Lani questioned, earning a nod from Hiccup. "Well…my dad's name was strange to the Vikings, but they didn't mind." Lani then looks up to the moon with a smile on his face. "My dad's name was Iokua."
Done, hope you guys liked it. And if you guys forgot about Iokua, he was Tui's best friend before he was lost at sea. And sorry for the late update, I was busy with school and all.
