I am so sorry for the late posting. I had writer's block and had trouble with the story and so on. I just started school again and I'm going to be busy with my education. I don't know if you guys will like it.
Also, I'm gonna point out some information. One the previous chapter, it takes back three years before Race to the Edge. So, in this chapter, they are now on the Race to the Edge timeline. I hope I was clear. And on further note, many of you guys keep saying that Lani's necklace should have magical properties. And I will agree. BUT! It only has limited understanding? I don't want any harassment from you viewers. P.S. Lani belongs to FoxyKhai0209. Just so we can be clear.
Now, the moment that you all have been waiting for, the Freedom Bringers and the Dragon Riders meeting!
Enjoy!
In a world surrounded by ocean, a single island stood from the ocean. But there were unknown boats, sailing through the vast ocean with no problem, with people who were not Vikings. They were different, they have medium brown skin, brownish-pink lips, long wavy or short black hair, thick eyebrows, and brown eyes. Their attires are consistent with coconut fiber skirts with palm leaves along with the females using as for their tops, headdresses made of palm leaves and flowers. Leading them was a tall, muscular male with a red leaf-like headdress with a gem of some kind on the center. He appears to be the leader of the sailors as they sailed their boats with no compass, maps, nor navigational tools. If it's like that, the ocean was their guide. Soon, their boats headed towards an island. But it wasn't any island. This island was alive, and it looks like a woman, made from nature itself. She is a towering, slender figure with skin made of lush flora, green eyes, dark green lips, along with dark green eyebrows. Her body is covered in lush flora and trees; clusters of flowers adorn her grassy hair similar to a headdress. Her entire body appears to be made of the land itself, with a flowing "dress" made of plants and flora. She was smiling at someone. Her smile was filled with kindness and love. And soon, a dragon. But this dragon was unknown, it was twice the size of the Sky Destroy, has emerald scales that shine with the sun. Wings made of gold. Its horns were ruby like gems and claws of silver. And its eyes were beautiful like sapphire gems.
The people on the boats got on their knees and bowed as the two powerful looking entities stared at someone, someone who is destined for great things. They both spoke via telepathy to the one that they were looking at.
"Child of Two Regions. Child of Two Worlds Blood." They spoke in unison.
"You shall be the bridge that will reunite the two regions as one." The dragon spoke through telepathy before the beautiful woman made of nature gently blew flower petals from her hands and towards the source.
"WOAH!" A gasp came from a now 18-year-old Lani.
He was lying on his bead, panting out as he felt the adrenaline in his veins. He had a strange dream. Two unknown beings before him in his dream, calling him 'Child of Two Regions', 'Child of Two Worlds Blood', or the 'Bridge'. It was hard to understand what they mean or what it is. It was confusing yet scary at the same time. Lani took some deep breaths before sighing through his nose, relaxing himself from the dream. Suddenly, he heard his dragon beside him. Turning to his side, he saw his Sand Wraith giving him worried croons and grunts, wondering what was wrong with her rider. Lani smiles at her gently before stroking her head.
"I'm all right, Sandy. It was a strange dream." Lani assured Sandstorm, who nuzzled him in comfort. "I'm fine, Sandy, really."
Sandstorm purrs at him before Lani gets up from bed and goes to the mirror to see his reflection. He has recently changed when he was growing up. His features no longer look like a young teenager, but a mature and handsome looking fellow. His attire consists of a sandy brown leather armor on top of his long-sleeved pastel yellow tunic, with chocolate brown arm brackets and double-layered shoulder guards, and black pants. It's been three years since he stayed with the riders, helping out the village with ideas and building new stables for dragons. As well as stopping the Dragon Hunters. They've captured dragons for auctioning and causing problems to all dragons. They were able to get some allies along the way in their crazy adventure. Like the Defenders of the Wing. They are humans that are proud and have an unshakable faith for their Great Protector, an Eruptodon dragon that lives above their village as it keeps their island's volcano in bay. The Defenders of the Wing didn't trust them at first, but soon they became great allies after saving the Eruptodon from the Dragon Hunters' leader named Viggo Grimborn and his brother, Ryker Grimborn. The Dragon Riders are still searching for them and figuring out how to stop them from hunting dragons.
Lani sighs as he gets out of bed and heads outside with Sandstorm. He was going to meet up with Hiccup anyway to increase the Edge's defenses. Lani walks out from his hut and is greeted by the sun. Lani's hut was built on a cliff, so he can be close to the ocean. Lani takes a deep breath, enjoying the ocean breeze, as he exhales in delight.
"Another day in the age." Lani said to himself before getting on Sandstorm. "Come on, Sandy, let's go to Hiccup."
Sandstorm roared in delight and took off to the clubhouse. Unaware that Lani's necklace turned blue for a brief moment before turning back to gold. They meet up with Hiccup to discuss the defenses, but a Terror Mail came from Trader Johann, informing them that he just spotted the Dragon Hunter ships somewhere off the west side of the ocean. The gang took off to the sky with their friend, Heather, and her Razorwhip dragon, Windshear. Lani was told by Hiccup that Heather was a good friend of theirs back then. And then learn a shocking truth that she is also the long-lost daughter of Oswald the Agreeable and Sister to Dagur the Deranged, who still remains missing. Anyways, as the riders flew to the location, Hiccup laid out the plan.
"All right, remember, this is a stealth mission. We have to stay hidden away without any hunters spotting us. That means, no blowing things up. Yes, Tuff, that means you and Ruff." Hiccup planned out before Tuffnut could ask. "Astrid, you and Heather take the right side, take out the catapults and nets. Snotlout and the twins will create a distraction, giving us enough time to-"
Suddenly, Lani cuts Hiccup off when he sees something that causes him to gasp. "Look!" He pointed his index finger to the distance.
Everyone followed his gaze and gasped in shock at what they saw. At a distance, they saw hunter's ships were all in disarray and abandoned. Everyone came towards the wreckage, processing what just happened. Many ships were barely staying afloat while some were sinking. There were smoke and scorch marks everywhere on the skips, indicating that there was a battle. The riders couldn't find a single sign of hunters nor dragons in the ships, considering that they were all abandoned and dragons must've escaped.
"What happened here?" Heather asked in shock.
"I don't know, but I think someone beat us to the hunters." Hiccup said, observing the ships.
Later, the riders investigate the ships to see if anything was left behind. So far, they found nothing, everything was gone and abandoned, including the dragons. The Riders' dragons landed on one the ships that was still afloat and discussed what just happened. They, along with their dragons, were still shocked by what they had discovered.
"Find anything?" Hiccup asked his friends.
"Not a single hunter or dragon were inside." Astrid reported.
"What do you think caused this?" Heather asked her friends.
"Well, it can't be us, I mean. We just got here." Tuffnut said stupidly.
"We know, Tuff." Hiccup said with a sigh.
"Maybe it was the Sky Destroyers." Fishlegs suggested, looking at the destruction of the ships.
"Ryker mentioned a Sky Destroyer before back when I was spying on them." Heather said to them. "But I don't know what kind of dragon that is."
"It's an unknown dragon that has the combination of different classes of dragons." Fishlegs explained to Heather. "Hiccup, Lani, and I tried to find any information about Sky Destroyers, but we found only a few."
"Only a few?" Heather asked in confusion.
"Yes, we only know that they're big, incredibly fast, have stronger fire power, and hate Vikings." Hiccup explained to Heather. "We first encountered one and it was not pretty."
"What do you mean?" Heather asked Hiccup.
"It tried to kill us!" Snotlout exclaims with arms up.
"Technically, it tried to kill us because Snotlout woke it up from its nap." Tuffnut corrected as he remembered the incident three years ago. "I mean, it was really mad, and destroyed half the forest to make a point that it didn't like us."
"Shut up, Tuffnut!" Snotlout growls at him in anger.
"It really tried to kill you guys?" Heather was shocked by how dangerous this dragon was.
"Oh, yeah, and what makes it more dangerous, it can manipulate fire. And is the only dragon bold enough to go head to head with a Purple Death." Hiccup said to Heather.
This shocked the shield maiden. "No way, it can face a ginormous dragon on its own?"
"Oh, yeah, we saw it up close." Astrid said to her friend. "Years ago, we encountered the Purple Death coming to Berk. We tried to lead it away, but it knocked us out from the sky. We could've been goners if it weren't for the arrival of the Sky Destroyer. It led the Purple Death away before they both disappeared through a mist."
"Woah...that's...that's deep." Heather said in shock.
"You have no idea. Till this day, we don't know who won the battle." Astrid said as she still wonders who won the battle.
Suddenly, Lani spotted something at the ship's pole. Narrowing his eyes, the blonde male went over to the pole and saw what pierce through the wood was.
It was an arrow.
The arrow was different. The wood was more durable and stronger. Its tip was sharp, and it easily went through the pole with no difficulties. Lani has a thought that the Sky Destroyers weren't the only ones that did this and believed that they had help.
"Guys, I don't think the Sky Destroyers did it alone." Lani said as he showed them the arrow. "I think they had help."
The group watched as Hiccup observed the arrow. It was carved very well and it was very sharp. Hiccup admired the carving of the arrow, but he wasn't familiar with the craftsmanship. "Hmm...this isn't like any arrow I've seen before." He said, observing the arrow. "But Lani might be up to something, the Sky Destroyers had help, and my hunch is human help."
"Wait, are you saying that the Sky Destroyers have riders of their own?" Astrid asked Hiccup in shock.
"Possibly...do you guys remember Rune the Storyteller from Lani's village?" Hiccup questions them.
"No not, really." Tuffnut confessed, earning a sigh from Hiccup, who decided to continue.
"He once said that the Sky Destroyer only trusts the people of the water." Hiccup explains to them. "They're the only humans that the Sky Destroyers could trust."
"So, what you're saying is, that the people who are thought to be legends are here and are probably ridding the voracious, blood thirsty, and feared dragons that ever came to the archipelago are here?" Snotlout questions in a somewhat sarcastic tone.
"...Yeah, pretty much sums it up." Hiccup said to Snotlout.
"Ohoho, great! Just great!" Snotlout said in annoyance. "Not only do we have to face the hunters, but also water people?!"
"If so, then they really wanted the dragon hunters to leave the dragons alone." Lani said, looking at the destruction.
"You know, now that you mentioned it, Dagur once told me that Ryker had encountered other dragon riders before you guys." Heather explained to them, remembering the tale. "They'd freed the dragons that the hunters' captured years ago and had helped with a big dragon. Do you think the people of the water actually came with Sky Destroyers and tamed the Purple Death?"
"Possibly, they are the only ones that could tame such ferocious dragons." Astrid said to Heather before realizing something. "Hey...do you think that the people of the water caused the disappearance of the dragons three years ago?" Astrid asked, referring to the dragons that disappeared from the islands, except at Berk or the Edge.
"I don't know, but I have a hunch that these People of the Water shouldn't be underestimated." Hiccup said to his teammates in a serious tone. "If they ride Sky Destroyers, then we have to be ready for anything."
"Agreed." Lani said, looking at the ocean while holding the necklace that Malie gave him three years ago. "I just hope we know what we are dealing with."
"Yeah, it's not like they have a secret place that houses all dragons, am I right?" Tuffnut joked with a laugh.
Oh, how Tuff's words can be so true that it was so terrifying.
At the beautiful island of Motunui, the people there were doing their daily task. Gathering fish and coconuts, hunting for food, and farming. And helping them were the dragons. The dragons enjoy helping the people of Motunui. They welcomed them with open arms, and they treated them with more respect. They've been living with dragons in peace for over two years. And during those years, the Freedom Bringers would rescue the dragons and bring them back to their safe region, where they are allowed to fly free and not to worry about dragon hunters. They can live wild and free or live at Motunui to find riders of their own. The people of Motunui are trained to learn to ride dragons, thanks to the Freedom Bringers. Speaking of which, the Freedom Bringers have been working hard in training a new generation of riders. As well as recruiting new Freedom Bringers in rescuing dragons from the Norse Region. They were able to save more dragons from the dragon hunters, thanks to the recruits, their allies at the Enchanted Islands, and Bigby the Purple Death (but he likes to be called Big Daddy from Moana, Aliikai, Malie, Coral, Tara, and Yasmina).
And after another successful dragon saving, the Freedom Bringers went back to their daily task. Moana continues her chiefly duties at Motunui. Keoni was training new recruits with the help of his sisters, Maui, and Nasir. Gil was helping the village healers with Coral collecting herbs. Yasmina and Malie teach the people about the history of magic and dragons. And Tara was helping out in building new huts. The island was getting more lively considering the People of Aquatica would come to assist the People of Motunui by building boardwalks, where they have submerged stables for aquatic dragons. Adira came and helped them make a landing spot for dragons to have clear landings or take off. They even installed a feeding area, where all the fishermen gathered many fishes and placed them in a big bowl. The dragons even assisted them in gathering the fishes and planting vegetables. They even learned when dragons shed their scales, the people of Motunui use the scales for their clothing. They were able to learn it thanks to Yasmina and Adira. But what's more interesting was the Changewing's shed skin. It still retains its camouflage ability, such that it renders things nearly invisible rather than just changing colors to blend in. It was very useful for hunting prey and the hunting party would bring big game for the village.
They even made a school for the children, helping them learn more about the dragons and teaching them how to read and write. Jade and Adira would be the teachers with Yasmina and Malie since they have more knowledge than anyone else. Motunui was changing for the better, dragons are returning, the village is thriving, and they make new allies in each voyage they make. That's right, when Moana and her friends went back to voyaging with the people of Motunui and the dragons, they found other tribes from different islands. At first, they didn't trust the people of Motunui and their dragons, especially Maui after he caused the darkness. However, with the Freedom Bringers help, they were able to convince other humans to trust dragons and Maui. It brings great joy to everyone as they help the humans from other islands to bond with dragons and teach them how to wayfinding. Then dragons decided to stay with the other humans and volunteer to stay with them, keeping the peace and bond strong again.
After all, this is what Te Fiti and Draco would've wanted.
Now, back to the Freedom Bringer, Moana and Aliikai had just finished helping the villagers at setting up the new cave for the Monstrous Nightmares. They built it on the rocky side of the island, that way they won't set a jungle on fire. It was quite an exhausting day for them. Aliikai decided to carry her sister on her back, considering Moana had tired herself too much with all the chieftain duties. The young chief is no longer as she matured over the years. She has grown up to be a strong and beautiful chieftest. And has tattoos of Night Furies on her back, arms, and legs. And does her job well, even though it takes a lot of energy.
Soon, Moana releases a sigh of exhaustion as she lists out all the duties that she and Aliikai finished. "Okay, we finished building the new huts on the west side of the island, then gave dance lessons to the children, restocking herbs and spices..."
"...Then building the new docks on the beach, helping trained new recruits, and finishing up the new cave for the Monstrous Nightmares." Aliikai added the finished list for her sister. "Now, all we need to do is have a meeting with King Seaton and the Magic Council."
Moana sighs and leans on her dragon sister's neck with a nod. "I know, the meeting will be held in the afternoon." She said to Aliikai. "This meeting is very important, we need all the help we can get in order to bring all the dragons back to our region."
Aliikai nodded in agreement. "Indeed, dragons deserve a better chance here than in the Norse Region." She said to her sister. "I just hope we're doing enough for the dragons."
"We are, Aliikai. With the alliance of the Aquatica Kingdom and Enchanted Islands, we can save every dragon in the Norse and bring them here, where they can be free and find their home." Moana assured her dragon sister.
Aliikai smiles at Moana. "Thank you, Moana, it's very assuring to know that we can do this."
Moana smiles back at her. "No problem, Ali."
They headed back to the village and were greeted by the villagers and the dragons. Everyone was having a great time with peace. All the dragons love their new home as they help out with villagers, but mostly with keeping an eye on the younglings. Aliikai carries Moana to the village square, whereupon they see their dad, Tui, talking with Keoni. The Keahi heir has matured quite a lot. He is taller, well built, and has tattoos of Tide Glider on his back and arms.
"Hey, dad, Keoni." Moana greeted them with a smile.
Both males stop their conversation and smile at Moana. "Hello, Moana. How's your chief duties?" Tui asked his daughter.
"Exhausting." Moana answered with a sigh as she got off Aliikai. "We just finished making the cave for the Monstrous Nightmares. Now, we need to prepare for the meeting with Aquatica and the Enchanted Islands to discuss rescuing the dragons from the Dragon Hunters. Keoni, is the assembly hut ready?"
Keoni nodded. "Yes, we prepared for the arrivals of King Seaton and the Magic Council." Keoni said to his fiancé.
"Indeed." Nasir's voice came. They turned towards the direction and saw Nasir, who is the same height and muscular built as Keoni, was walking over to them with a Scimitar sword was sheeted on his side. "With the council's help and approval, they will help us turned the tides against the dragon hunters and saving the dragons."
"That's good, we need all the help we could get." Moana said to them. "We don't want any dragons to suffer from those dragon hunters, they deserve freedom and happiness."
"Agreed." Nasir said with a nod.
"Your mother and I are very proud of you, Moana. Doing an excellent job as a leader and protector." Tui said to his daughter proudly.
Moana smiles at her dad. "Thanks, dad...so where is mom?" She suddenly asked.
"She's at the healer's hut, tending the sick dragons with Amista." Tui informs his daughter.
Amista is a female albino Speed Stinger that the Freedom Bringers found her on a deserted ship, weak and malnourished. Apparently, the ship belonged to dragon hunters and was abandoned due to a storm that caused it to be in a shipwreck. The hunters escaped but poor Amista was left alone, barely alive as she struggled to move. Luckily, the Freedom Bringers brought her back to Motunui, where Sina nurses the albino Speed Stinger with all the care and kindness. Sina stayed with Amista's side, through the good and the bad. She was the one that helped Amista to get back on her feet by doing physical therapy every day and feeding her nutritious meals too. Amista was in full strength to Sina and soon became her dragon partner, as she assists Sina with everyday tasks like cooking, cleaning, and collecting coconuts. Plus, she is very protective with her pack and will attack anyone that dares harm them.
"That's good to hear that Amista is helping out mom." Moana said with a smile. "What about Malie? I didn't see her for a while." Moana questions them.
"She's at Blackwell and Elektra's nest with Gil and Coral, studying their new hatchlings." Nasir answered Moana.
Blackwell the Night Fury and Elektra the Skrill had recently started a family. They have four hatchlings, two boys and two girls, which are a new breed of dragons that Gil proudly call Skrill Furies. Skrill Furies have the body of Night Furies and scales, but they have the wings of Skrills and sharp claws. They don't have tail fins like the Night Furies, their tails are like the Skrills. Metallic spikes on their backs to absorb lightning. And have retractable teeths. Blackwell and Elektra's hatchlings' names are Shockwave, Galestorm, Bolt, and Stormy. Shockwave is the oldest of the litter, he has his father's eyes and is considered the leader as he proved the point that he is the alpha of his siblings. Galestorm and Bolt are twins, hatched at the same egg, but Galrestorm was the first one to come out, making her the e second born while her brother was third born. They both inherited their mother's violet eyes but are both rivals due to the fact that they're trying to one up each other and can be competitive. And lastly, Stormy, the youngest of the litter. She has her father's eyes and is smaller than her siblings. She's very polite and shy, but she can be cheerful when the Freedom Bringers come with their dragons, especially to Aliikai. She idolizes Aliikai along with her siblings. Bolt likes Aliikai and would try to impress her with his little stunts, even though he is just hatchling. Aliikai finds it adorable to see the little Skrill Furies play, she basically adores them since they're like family to her and she would volunteer to watch over them when their parents are off hunting or want some alone time.
"Gil really wanted to study the new species of Furies since they are two species in one." Nasir explains to them with a small smile. "I don't blame him, considering that they are new generation of furies that needs to be classify and understand."
Aliikai suddenly nudges her sister, letting out small purrs, indicating that she wanted to see the little Skrill Furies. Moana laughs gently at her and pats her sister's head. "Sure, Ali, we'll go see Blackwell and Elektra." She said as Moana got on Aliikai's back. "We'll come back before the meeting starts."
"All right, me and Keoni will patrol around the island to see if there are any dragons that might accidentally start a fight." Nasir said and Keoni agreed.
"Meet back before sundown." Tui informs his daughters, who nodded in agreement.
Soon, Moana and Aliikai took off to the sky and towards the mountain. Aliikai flew towards a cliffside to see a cave on top which can see the whole island from a distance. And inside of the cave where Blackwell and Elektra were watching their hatchlings with loving expressions. With them were Malie, Gil, and Coral, who were observing the Skrill Fury hatchlings with fascination. Cayden and Shocker are also there, keeping an eye on their rider as well as their new dragon member Tsunami, an Ocean Fury. The Freedom Bringers found a pod of Ocean Furies a year ago when they rescued some Timberjacks from some hunters. The Ocean Furies followed them back to their region, where they quickly became acquainted with the people of Motunui. Ocean Furies are sub-species of Night Furies. They're both fast on air and on the water. They have the appearance of Night Furies, but have ocean blue scales, blue green markings, web-like tail fins and spines. They can breathe underwater and shoot an electrical plasma blast that can stun their opponents down and have the ability to camouflage within water. And after their fateful encounter with the Ocean Furies, Coral met her dragon which she named Tsunami. But be warned, if anyone dares harm his cheerful rider...let's just say that you will learn why his name is Tsunami. And he became great friends with the other dragons, especially Aliikai. The two became friends, in a brother and sister way.
"Hey, guys!" Moana greeted them as Aliikai entered the cave.
"Hi, Moana! Ali!" Coral greeted them cheerfully with a wide smile.
Hearing Aliikai, the Skrill Furies stopped playing with each other and raced over to the female Night Fury. Of course, Bolt came first and nuzzled his head on Aliikai's forepaw, getting her attention to nuzzle him. She gladly did so and gave him a nuzzle, which he hogged all for himself. Galestorm wanted to nuzzle and started a brawl with him. Aliikai giggles as the two siblings fight, unaware that Shockwave and Stormy got all her attention.
"So, how was your day, Moana?" Malie asked her friend kindly.
"Doing great, but we have to get ready for the meeting with your dad and the council, we need their help to expand the search and rescue team." Moana said to her friends.
"That's good, we need all the help we can get." Malie said with a smile.
"By the way, who is representative on the council?" Moana asked the three aquatic beings.
Gil listed out the members of the council members. "The Council members are leaders and rulers. King Seaton is one of them. Then there's Ezekiel, leader of all the Centaurs. Then there's the King and Queen of the Fae, Oberon and Titania. The leader of the Medjay, Abasi. Elysia the Queen of the Spirits. Eion the King of the Elves. Deimos the Great Wizard. Adira the leader of the Beast Tamers-"
"Wait a second, Adira didn't tell us that she's a council member?!" Moana said in shock and surprise.
"I know right?" Coral said excitedly. "We were told that she's a member the whole time and that's why the council allowed Yasmina and Nasir to come here."
"Woah...and who's the last member?" Moana asked them.
"They wouldn't say. The last member is a mystery." Gil said to Moana. "But he or she will come to the meeting personally."
"Hmmm...well, if the last member will come personally, I have to make a good expression." Moana said, looking down. "Even to the rest of the council members."
"Don't worry, Moana. I'm sure they'll love to meet you." Coral assured her friend cheerfully.
"You think so?" Moana asked hopefully.
"Of course! You are the descendant of the Great Matai Vasa! A great leader and friend to ALL magical beings!" Coral assured her with a cheerful smile. "And besides, three of the council members are your friends!"
Gil nodded at his childhood best friend. "It's true, Ezekiel, Lady Adira, and King Seaton have your allegiance. And they're the ones that were able to convince the council to trust you."
"Woah, that's so kind of them." Moana said with a smile. "I won't let them down, I promise."
"You got this, Moana!" Coral cheers at the chieftest. "We'll support you all the way!"
"Coral's right, Moana, we'll be there for you all the way." Gil agrees with Coral.
Moana smiles at them gratefully. "Thanks, guys, it really helps that you're with me on this." She said to them.
"We should probably go back and prepare for the meeting." Aliikai said to her sister, who agreed, before looking at the others. "Will you all be joining us?"
"Sure am!" Coral said happily as she got on Tsunami's back happily.
"Wish I could join, but I have to collect some sea flowers for some medicine I'm making." Gil said to them.
"It's okay, Gil. Catch up with us when you're done." Moana said in assurance as she got on Aliikai while Cayden helped Malie on his back. They bid Blackwell and Elektra a good day before taking off while Gil and Shocker left to the other side of the island where the sea flowers are. They thought they were prepared for this.
But they weren't prepared for...uninvited guests.
The Dragon Riders plus Chicken were soaring through the sky, searching for any dragon hunter's ships. So far, they found nothing but empty waters, and few Tidal Class Dragons. But it doesn't mean that they should be slacking. They have to thoroughly inspect the area, just in case any dragon hunters were hiding on a sea stack or an island. Snotlout was complaining that they've been flying hours. Wanting to go back to the Edge and sleep. But Hiccup keeps reminding him that they have to continue in order to find any hunter's ships, earning a groan for Snotlout. As they continued patrolling, Lani was holding the necklace that was around his neck tenderly. He still can't forget his fateful encounter with Malie. The first time he met her was in the middle of the night on an island. They share a brief conversation as he slowly gets to know her. Learning something new from her and she learns something new from him. Then when the Purple Death came, he felt Malie was the one that rescued him from the giant dragon. And then she left a gift for him. He deeply appreciates her kind gestures.
"So...Lani?" Heather suddenly spoke, getting the Hiccup doppelganger to look at Heather with a questionable look. "Where did you get that necklace? It's very pretty."
Lani glanced down at his necklace with a small smile. "Oh, it was a gift from a girl I met a few years back." He answered Heather kindly.
Heather raises an eyebrow curiously. "Really? What's her name?" Heather asked him curiously.
Lani continues to look at the necklace with a smile as he remembers the girl that he had fallen in love with. "Her name was Malie."
"She sounds beautiful." Heather said with a smile.
"She was..." Lani said, looking at the necklace longingly.
Heather looked at him in concern, as if something bad happened to Malie. "Did something happen to her?"
"Huh? Oh, no. No, not really. She was fine when I last saw her...I don't know what happened to her but...she left me this necklace, as a gift...she was...special." Lani said softly, making Heather pity him.
"You really miss her, don't you?" Heather asked Lani.
Lani nodded his head. "Yeah, I'll do anything to get to see her again." He confessed softly. Sandstorm made worried croons at her rider, earning gentle pats from him. "It's okay, girl. I'm just worried, that's all." He assures his Sand Wraith. Suddenly, Lani's necklace started to glow, getting everyone's attention as well as startling them in the process.
"Woah, Lani! What's going on?!" Hiccup asked in surprise.
"I-I don't know!" Lani said, surprised as well, as he looked at the necklace.
As the necklace glows, a mysterious fogbank appears right before them, surprising the riders and their dragons in the process. The dragons made worried grunts and roars, unsure what's happening as well as their riders. They calm their startled dragons down as they looked at the fogbank in disbelief.
"Where did that fog come from?!" Snotlout exclaims in shock and fear.
Lani glanced down at his necklace, seeing it glowing slightly and then back to the fog. "I think...I think my necklace did it." He answered in disbelief.
"You're necklace?" Hiccup asked in confusion.
"Yeah...I don't know why, but...but it feels like I should go in there." Lani said, looking at the fog.
"That's crazy!" Snotlout exclaimed, thinking that Lani had lost it.
"I know! It sounds awesome!" Tuffnut said with a grin of approval while Chicken clucks in response.
"Lani, it's dangerous to go in that thick fog." Astrid informs Lani. "We'll get lost easily there."
"I know, I know, but...but it feels as if someone is calling me." Lani said to his friends before making up his mind. "You guys go back to the Edge while I go see what's in the fog."
"Wait, Lani!" Before Hiccup could stop him, Sandstorm zooms in the fog, leaving everyone behind. "Oh, Thor...come on! We have to go after him." Hiccup ordered before everyone started going after Lani, except Snotlout, he wasn't going into the fog.
"There is no way I'm going in there." Snotlout said firmly with arms crossed. However, Hookfang wasn't giving him a choice. The Monstrous Nightmare flies towards the fog at a sudden speed, shocking Snotlout in the process as he screams. "Waahhh! Hookfang!"
Soon, everyone was in fog, with Lani in front. Following something that was calling out to him. Lani doesn't understand why, but he could feel it in his heart. As if he was meant to go in there. The rest of the dragon riders were catching up to Lani, following him and trying their best to not get separated from the fog. The fog was thick, and they could barely see anything or anyone. They were lucky to follow Lani since his necklace was emitting a small glow.
"Lani! Slow down!" Hiccup called out to the blonde. "We don't know what's in this fog!"
"I know there's something here, I can feel it!" Lani exclaimed, looking up ahead and saw a glimmer of light. "Up ahead! I can see the light!"
"Aren't we supposed not to follow that light?" Tuffnut asked stupidly, which everyone ignored, and soon went towards the light at the end of the fog.
They stayed in a line formation, preventing themselves from getting lost, as they made their way out from the fogbank, revealing a bright and vast ocean in front of them. Everyone was surprised to find themselves here, the ocean in front of them was so...beautiful. It shines as the sun reflects its waters. They could see a pod of dolphins swimming by, making cute and loud whistling sounds. But what's more interesting is that it was warmer here than where they came from.
"Woah, this place is...warm." Fishlegs said while Meatlug wiggles and grunts happily at the warmth.
"Yeah, who knew coming in the fog was...what the?" Hiccup suddenly cuts himself off when he turns around to see the fogbank had disappeared. "The fog...it's gone!"
The riders followed his gaze and were shocked to see the fog was gone. "How's that possible? It was right there when I exited it." Astrid said in disbelief.
"Do you think it vanished after we exited it?" Heather suggested.
"I...I don't know." Lani was able to speak. "But I have a feeling that this fog has brought us somewhere that is not the archipelago."
Tuffnut gasped in realization. "Do you think we're beyond the great beyond?" He asked in a mysterious and idiotic tone while Chicken lets out a bawka.
Everyone looked at him in confusion, especially the dragons. Not quite sure what he meant but they think he was referring to what's beyond the edge or something. "...I don't know for sure, but...I believe so." Lani said as he looked at the vast ocean. "We're no longer in our territory."
Fishlegs gasped in realization, "Do you think we can find new species of dragons here?" He asked quietly and excitingly.
"I don't know, Fishlegs, but I think we should find an island to rest up before it gets dark." Hiccup said which everyone agreed.
They searched for any islands so they could land and rest. It took them a while to find a place to rest, until Lani sensed something from a distance. He told his friends about it and led them to a curtain destination. They weren't sure why Lani knows about this, neither does Lani, but all he knows is that he has been here before they reach the huge island. Everyone admired the island's beauty and saw how it rises above the ocean waves like a green jewel. Rocky Mountains stretch high into the sky, and they could see some tumbling waterfalls lying around every corner.
"Woah! It's beautiful!" Heather said in awe.
"Tell me about it!" Ruff agrees, looking at the island.
"Come on, gang, let's land there, but be careful. We don't know if there are any natives there." Hiccup said, which everyone agrees.
They fly towards the island, unaware that they were flying at the backside of the island of Motunui, whereupon Gil and Shocker spotted them from the waters. Seeing the riders, they knew fully well that they were trespassers. Gil and Shocker worried for the villagers and the dragons that they swam back to the other side of the island and warned the locals of the intruders. As they swam away, the Dragon Riders didn't see them as they landed on a beach, where they set up their camp. The twins were messing around with some Frigatebirds that were nested on a banana tree. Which caused the Frigatebirds to attack the twins, who ran around while screaming from the top of their lungs. The Riders got a better look at this island. It was a typical island but with a hot tropical climate, white-sand beaches, crystal clear lagoon, many trees including coconut palms, high mountains along with cliffs rising into the clouds.
"Woah, this island looks amazing up close." Fishlegs compliment, smiling at Meatlug as she eats some delicious rocks. "I wonder what new dragons we could find here?"
"We'll find out soon, Fishlegs, but first we need to set up camp for the night." Hiccup said to everyone. "We have to gather dry wood for fire, fresh water, catch some food, and we need someone on lookout duty."
"Heather and I will get some fresh water." Astrid said to Hiccup.
"I'll collect some dry wood." Lani offered.
"Great, now that just leaves…" Hiccup didn't finish his sentence when he was interrupted.
They suddenly heard a pig's oink, causing everyone to turn towards the undergrowth to see a small pig with white fur, greyish-black spots, pink belly, black hooves, and pink snout. Soft ears, short legs, and tiny feet. The little pig looked at them from afar and tilted his head in confusion, wondering who they were. The little piglet was actually Pua. He was playing hide and seek with Pōkole the Kakamora and Mistral the Wisp Dragon. Pua ended up going too far and found himself at the beach where the dragon riders were resting. And he wonders, who are they and why do they have funny clothing. The piglet's appearance made the riders have mixed expressions of him. Heather, Astrid, and Fishlegs showed adores to the cute pig, Hiccup and Lani were confused on why there was a pig, Snotlout doesn't care, but as for the Thorston Twins, on the other hand, they found the piglet very...
"Dinner!" Ruff and Tuff yelled out happily with spoons and forks raised.
...Tasty.
Pua's eyes widened in fear when they said those words before squealing in fear. He runs away as fast as his little legs could take him while pursued by the blonde twins and their Zippleback. Hiccup groans and facepalm at the twins' antiques. Just for once can they not try and harass the wildlife here.
"Oh, no, Ruff, Tuff! Get back here!" Hiccup ordered as he and the others chased after the twins, except Snotlout, he stayed behind as he watched the group leave to chase after a pig.
"Well, it looks like it's just you and me, Hookfang...Hookfang?" Snotlout said to his dragon, who did not respond to his rider. "Hookfang?" Snotlout turns around to see his dragon gone, only to spot him going after the others, leaving his rider behind yet again. "Hookfang!"
Snotlout screams after his dragon, unaware that they were being watched by the locals and their camouflage dragons.
Pua ran as fast as he could to avoid the two hungry blondes and their dragons. The poor little piglet was running with all his might, skidding to another corner, trying to lose them. But they were proven to be persistent and continued chasing him. But what's worse, there were others with them and other bigger dragons that were chasing after him as well! Pua releases another fearful squeal as he tries to escape them. All he did was play hide and seek with his friends, not to be eaten by some crazy humans! Luckily, Pua knows more around the island than anyone else, giving him a field advantage. He manages to lose them since the blonde twins tripped over some roots while the two-headed dragon got stuck when they tried to go to different areas to pass the tree, but only got themselves stuck. Pua was able to run underneath the undergrowth since due to his small size, and the dragons could barely fit through. He thought he was safe, but a certain black dragon aka Toothless was now chasing after him. He didn't want to harm the pig but was curious about him. However, Pua thought otherwise and thought that he would eat him. Sandstorm wasn't far behind, but she ended up tripping over a hidden root before she could catch up, leaving Toothless to pursue after the piglet. Seeing this, the little piglet lets out another fearful squeal that echoed through the jungle that could be heard for miles. And someone, who is very protective of that pig, heard his squeals and let out a dangerous growl.
Soon, Pua then ended up being trapped as he took a wrong turn and found himself face to face with a huge fallen tree. Blocking his path and preventing him from escaping. Pua tries to climb up the fallen tree to escape Toothless, but he keeps sliding back down, releasing fearful squeals and oinks. Toothless found the little pig struggling to get up and went over to him at full speed. Pua has his back against the fallen tree and releases a loud and terrified squeal as Toothless advances forward at full speed.
But suddenly, a black blur jumps above the fallen log and tackles Toothless with full force, startling the male Night Fury in the process. The blow was so great that it pushed both of them to the undergrowth, wrestling each other with roars, growls, and grunts. Pua still had his back against the tree, watching with fearful eyes as he could barely see the battle. Soon, in a matter of seconds, Toothless was soon out of the undergrowth and was pinned to the ground by a dragon. Toothless roared at the attacker but stopped and stared with wide eyes as he saw who pinned him, and he did not believe his eyes.
Snarling at him savagely was a Night Fury! But that's not all, it was female! The first one he has ever seen! But what's more interesting, was her beautiful ocean blue eyes that shine with the light. Toothless couldn't help but gawked at her with adoration and starstruck.
The female Night Fury happens to be Aliikai, who had heard Pua's cry for help and rushed to his aid. She knew very well that no dragons will harm Pua, since he is her friend, and if a dragon did try to harm him...let's just say, they won't survive Aliikai's wrath. But Aliikai's anger ceased as she looked at the dragon underneath her. To her shock and surprise, it was a male Night Fury, and he was her age! So shocked she was, Aliikai got off the male, who slowly got up on all fours and observed her while she observed him. The two Night Furies circled each other, sniffing at the air of their scents. However, Aliikai made sure that Toothless didn't go near Pua, who was curled up to a ball, watching the whole ordeal. Both Night Furies have different thoughts about each other. Toothless was happy to see one of his kind for the first time, but as for Aliikai, she was suspicious about how this Night Fury got to her island. She and Blackwell are the only Night Furies here.
"Toothless!" Hiccup's voice echoed through the undergrowth.
The Night Furies' ears perked by Hiccup's voice. Aliikai growled before she quickly and protectively came to Pua's side, shielding the poor pig as she snarled at the uninvited humans and their dragons. The riders and the dragons stopped at their tracks as they all gasped in astonishment to see Aliikai, who was glaring at them dangerously. They were all shocked to see a Night Fury right in front of them!
"It's...it's!" Fishlegs stutters as he admires Aliikai.
"Another Night Fury!" Hiccup finished quietly, observing Aliikai with awe.
Aliikai recognized them as Vikings, considering their attire and their helmets, and knew that could be a threat to her village and the dragons of Motunui. No one shall suffer on her watch. Aliikai releases a dangerous hiss at the riders, telling them to back off. The other dragons, minus Sandstorm, hissed back at her, but Toothless roared at them, telling his friends to aggravate her. They did as they were told as they slowly backed up, still looking at her with suspicion. Seeing this, Hiccup looks at his fellow riders and signals them to back up.
"Back up, give her some space, we don't want to anger him." Hiccup instructed them quietly.
"Her." Lani corrected quietly.
"What?" Hiccup looks at him in confusion.
"It's actually a girl, Hiccup, not male. Look at her features." Lani said quietly, gesturing to Aliikai's slender and feminine appearance. "This Night Fury is a female!"
"Amazing! A first ever female Night Fury! Oh! I can't wait to put this information in the book of dragons"! Fishlegs squeal quietly in delight.
"Hey, look! She caught our dinner!" Tuff points at a shaking Pua, who was underneath Aliikai's forepaw for protection.
Hearing this, Aliikai protectively shielded Pua from them, daring them to try and get Pua. She will blast them into ashes if they come any closer. And to prove her point, she fired a plasma blast close to Tuff's feet, knocking him off and landing on his back with a yell of pain. Everyone was shocked to see this while Aliikai released a steam from her snout as she snorted, as if she was saying: Serves you right!
"Uh...I think we should stay away from the pig." Hiccup said to the group, looking at Aliikai's protective stance towards Pua. "The pig might be her pet."
"She has a pig as a pet? That's weird." Snotlout said quietly.
"Snotlout, don't try to insult her, all right? We don't want to anger even more and-Sandy! No, stop!" Lani suddenly hushes his Sand Wraith, who was making her way towards Aliikai. Lani was going to stop her, but Hiccup prevented him as he shook his head, silently telling him not to interfere. Lani was worried about his dragon. He doesn't know if this Night Fury would consider Sandstorm friend or foe.
But unaware for them, Sandstorm had met Aliikai at an island where the group encountered the Sky Destroyer. Sandstorm was delighted to recognize Aliikai, happy that she got to see her again as well as letting her friends see her up close. And as for Aliikai, she was skeptical upon seeing Sandstorm again. She did meet her before when she was at the island training with Cayden. But Aliikai didn't put her guard down as Sandstorm began acting all friendly and polite. She remembered both her mentors' training, never keep your guard down and observe her opponent. Even if Sandstorm wants to play, she doesn't trust the riders, for they are Vikings that harmed dragons. But she still doesn't trust them. Although...she did recall that there was curtain Viking name Lani that won the heart of her friend, Malie, and is considered different from the other. Aliikai glanced towards to Lani, who stiffs when he saw her gaze, she looked at him from head to toe as she observes him.
"Why is she looking at you?" Fishlegs whispers to Lani.
"I don't know, maybe Sandy must've talked to her of us being friends or that we oppose no threat." Lani answers back quietly.
"Well, we better be on her good side, otherwise something bad might happen to us." Hiccup whispers to them.
"Come on, what's the worst thing that could happen?" Snotlout asked with a scoff.
Suddenly, out of nowhere, a blow dart came and hit Snotlout from behind. The Jorgenson male let out a yelp of surprise, feeling a small prick on his butt cheek, and suddenly felt his whole body stiffened. Both his arms dropped and soon made a derpy face before he fell face first onto the sand. Everyone yelped out in surprise to see Snotlout's face planted on the dirt floor. Aliikai wasn't fazed by this, she knew very well who had done that to him.
"Oh, my Thor! Snotlout?! Are you okay?!" Fishlegs came over to aid his fallen comrade.
"I can't feel my body." Snotlout mutters out through the ground.
"Hang on, we're gonna remove the-" Hiccup was suddenly cut off when masked people appeared from thin air, surprising and scaring everyone.
Everyone saw their teke masks and cloaks made of Changewing's shed scales. Hiccup and Lani would've observed further about their cloaks until the masked people brought out their bows and arrows and aimed in their direction. Everyone froze while the Ingerman let out a fearful yelp and raised his arms up in surrender while their dragons growled at the intruders. The Riders thought they had a fighting chance, however; these humans weren't alone. Appearing beside them were a pack of Changewings. The Mystery Class Dragons stood protectively at the masked warriors' sides as they all growled towards the riders and their dragons.
"Oh, Thor." Hiccup mutters out in shock.
"Who are these people?" Astrid asked quietly to Hiccup as she was about to reach her weapon to defend herself.
"These must be the locals of the island." Hiccup answered them quietly, eyeing the weapon-wielding warriors and their Changewings. "And they somehow trained wild Changewings."
"What do we do?" Heather asked quietly, eyeing at the arrows being pointed at them while the Changewings growled, ready to shoot acid on them.
"Try not to act all threatening, we have to let them know we mean no harm." Hiccup said to them.
"Easy for you to say! You're not paralyzed on the ground here!" Snotlout exclaimed to Hiccup, causing all the Changewings to hiss at him, which made Snotlout quiet. "Okay, shutting up."
"Everyone, get on your knees, now!" Hiccup ordered quietly and everyone did so.
Aliikai watched as the Vikings got on their knees while their dragons continued to glare at the Changewings and masked warriors. She knew very well that they were Keahi warriors. They were informed by Gil and Shocker about the intruders on the island. The Keahi warriors will not accept invaders in their home and will stop these intruders at all costs. However, seeing that they were on their knees, they knew very well they surrendered. But it doesn't mean they will lower their guards. Soon, Aliikai heard Makaio's roar from above. Looking up, she saw her Tide Glider friend flying down to her with Malo the Triple Stryke, Majaio the Tide Glider, Honua the Grapple Grounder and Bouquet the Snaptrapper. Their riders were on their backs, wearing teke masks to hide their faces. Keoni, who is the next heir of the clan, glares at them under his mask as interrogates them.
"Who are you people? And how did you enter our island's borders?"
Hiccup and the others glanced at each other with worried expressions, clearly understanding that the locals here don't take too kindly to strangers entering their islands. Hiccup looks at Keoni with an apologetic look.
"We mean no harm." Hiccup began to explain to Keoni, thinking that he is the leader of the island, "We just came here by accident and set up camp, we didn't mean to enter your island."
"Is it now?" Keoni questioned him, not believing him since he remembered the history of the Vikings and the dragons. "We know your kind. Vikings had a history of hunting dragons and now you ride them as what? You're slaves."
"Woah! Woah! We never treat our dragons that way!" Hiccup said truthfully. "We learned how-to live-in peace with them and we're trying to save other dragons from dragon hunters."
"And why should we believe you?" Keoni asked with suspicion.
"It's true! We care for dragons now." Fishlegs said, mustering enough courage to speak. To prove so, Meatlug nuzzled her rider. Some of the Keahi warriors looked at them in surprise but some were skeptical about this. They always thought Vikings were the enemies to dragons, but it seems that dragons care for these Vikings.
"They show care and respect to you." Keoni said, eyeing the dragons that were protective of their riders.
Snotlout, even though still paralyzed on the floor, laughs boastfully. "Yeah, Hookfang respects me too much. Am I right, Hookfang?" He called out to his dragon.
Hookfang, being a mischievous dragon, disobeyed his rider yet again and took off, showing that he has no respect for him. The locals and their dragons were unamused by this as they briefly looked at Hookfang leaving form blankly before turning back to the riders. If Snotlout was able to move, he would've slapped himself. Toothless and Sandstorm roared at Hookfang to come back, which he did, as he landed back down with a dragon-like snicker.
"Look, I know the history with Dragons and Vikings was bad, but we are aside from that. Now, we come to learn to coexist with them as one. Living together in peace and harmony." Hiccup said to Keoni. "And now, we fight with them against the Dragon Hunters, saving them and giving them the freedom that they deserve."
His words somehow moved the warriors. They've never expected a Viking to be so compassionate towards dragons after history shows them being bloodthirsty and murderous, as well as hunting dragons for sport. But if they are really telling the truth, they must prove themselves. Keoni looked at his sisters with a nod, giving them a signal, before turning to the riders.
"If you speak the truth, then you must prove yourselves first." Keoni said to them seriously.
"Prove ourselves how?" Tuff asked Keoni stupidly. "Should we do some tricks? Or tell you guys that we got here by Lani's magical necklace?"
This caught Keoni's attention. "What did you say?" He asked them suddenly.
"You know, Lani's magical necklace around his neck." Tuff said, pointing at the puka shell necklace on Lani's neck. "It's like magic, I mean, it did make that scary looking fog that brought us to your island with no problem. It's strange, I know, and I also do not know how to do it. I mean, maybe Lani's mysterious girl name Malie-"
"Tuffnut, stop talking!" Astrid hissed at him.
"What? It's true."
Kaoni narrowed his eyes on them, but mostly on Lani. He knows that Malie gave him the necklace as a sign for good luck, but he never expected to see it transporting them to their region. He releases a sharp whistle, and a pink Terrible Terror comes out of nowhere and grabs Lani's necklace by surprise. The Terrible Terror gave the necklace to Keoni's waiting hand as he observed the necklace. He could feel unknown energy coming from it and knew that they had a way of coming here.
"If your words are true, then prove it then. Take them to the holding cell and escort the dragons to the village" Keoni ordered his warriors.
Obeying his words, the warriors take the riders to the holding cell that was at the Keahi Clan. Snotlout was being dragged considering that he was paralysed. The riders' dragons were about to help their riders, until they stopped the Changewings, telling them to back away, earning growls from the riders' dragons. But they were stopped when Aliikai stepped in, she roared at the Changewings to seize their attacks. Aliikai told the riders' dragon that they shouldn't interfere, but she promised them that they will see their riders soon after they prove themselves worthy to the people of Motunui. But for now, she will take them to her village, where they could get something to eat. They were hesitant at first, not wanting to leave their riders behind, but seeing the situation, they had no choice but to agree with this. Nodding, they followed Aliikai to her village whilst the riders were taken away by the Keahi warriors and the Changewings.
"Barf! Belch! Keep an eye on Chicken! Don't let the locals eat her!" Tuffnut called out to the Zippleback that had Chicken riding on Barf's head as they followed Aliikai to the village.
Meanwhile, Moana was at the meeting hut with her dad, Malie, Tara, Maui, Coral, Yasmina and Nasir. It was built at the ocean, near the beach, allowing King Seaton and Prince Nereus to enter by a pool. There, she meets the council members that will help her and the Freedom Bringers to save all the dragons. She already knew that King Seaton, Ezekiel, and Adira are council members. She then meets the King and Queen of the Fae, King Oberon and his beloved wife, Queen Titania. Moana learns that they are not too fond of humans after learning that they hunt down their fellow Faes. However, Moana's ancestor, Matai Vasa, was friend to all Fae and respected them, treating them kindly. And because they enjoy Moana's fiery spirit to save innocent dragons. Queen Elysia of the Spirits has adored Moana ever since she heard of her. The People of Motunui respected the spirits and their ancestors, much to her liking and she is very kind. The leader of the Medjay, Abasi, was very kind to Moana, for she was the one that respected his student aka Nasir and his sister to invite them to a celebration for dragons. The Elven King Eion was very strict, and had trust issues with humans since they had been at war with them for so many years. But he shows respect to Moana's people for they suffered as well to be victims of almost being consumed by the darkness. Deimos the Great Wizard is a strict old man when it comes to meeting, but he's actually a nice wizard once she gets to know him. Then lastly the tenth member of the council was none other than Jade. Much to Moana's shock, she and others never knew Jade was a council member. She never knew Jade was one, she always thought of her as a mysterious healer. Jade jokingly told her that she is a healer, but actually a secret councilwoman. Anyways, they begin the council meeting, where Moana explains to them that she and her people have tirelessly saved the dragons beyond their region and wishes for their aid. She didn't ask much but only if they could give them intel to find the hunters' locations. The council listens to her words, interested in how she cares so much for the dragons and not wanting to risk their people.
"So, you wish for info about the dragon hunters, correct?" King Oberon asked, his accent rich and hidden secret.
"Yes, and in return, my people will provide a trade route for Motunui and the Enchanted Island, as well as providing a sanctuary to all dragons." Moana explains to them. "If there's anything else to have your approval, I can assure you that Motunui will-"
"Darling, please, no need for flattery and gifts." Queen Titania said to Moana kindly. "Of course, we will assist you in your mission of saving the dragons. After all, they do belong here."
"Really?" Moana spoke with hope in her eyes.
The Spirit Queen, Elysia, nodded in agreement with Queen Titania. "Yes, my dear, your people have been so generous and kind to us as well as the dragons." She said to Moana telepathically. "You deserve the help you need in this mission."
The Elven King Eion agrees to this as well. "My elves have recently found information about these hunters, and their secret trading and dragon auctions." He said to Moana with seriousness. "They recently found out that the dragon hunters will be transporting another shipment of dragons to a hidden island, where they held a dragon auction. But we are uncertain when considering that the last auction island was destroyed. We have yet to receive any information."
Moana rubs her chin. "I see..."
"My spies cannot go further without being exposed. You need someone that knows about these dragon hunters and find more intel about them." Ezekiel added to King Eion's explanation.
"What are you suggesting, Ezekiel?" King Seaton was the one who asked.
"Might I suggest having an assistance with someone that is outside of our group." Ezekiel suggested to them.
King Eion scoffs at this. "Are you suggesting that we ask Vikings to help us?" He started towards the Centaur. "May I remind you that those Vikings are brutes that started war between merfolks years ago?"
"We are well aware of their crimes, King Eion." Adira said to him seriously. "There are rumors that they are Vikings that ride dragons now, that they are at peace with them."
"And where did you hear that?" King Eion questions Adira.
"From what our Motunui allies told us, there is a Viking village known as Berk that somehow befriended the dragons and allowed them to ride them." Adira explained to the council.
"Berk? That hooligan tribe?" King Eion asked in disbelief. "How can they possibly do so?"
"From what they heard, a Viking riding a Night Fury stopped the Red from forcing the dragons to raid the villages." Jade was the one who answered them. "And we do need help from outside."
"And you expect us to forgive and forget?" King Eion asked with a glare. "Vikings are the cruelest of man, they have no manners, and always rely on brute force."
"That's where you are wrong, King Eion." Queen Elysia said to him gently. "The forest spirits have been watching them for quite a while, and they say that the Dragon Riders of Berk are trying to save the dragons from the hunters."
"I have to agree with Queen Elysia, King Eion." Queen Titania said to the Elven King. "After all, the spirits aren't only ones who still inhabit outside the Enchanted Islands."
"It's true." King Oberon agrees with his wife. "It would be interesting to have some good Vikings now and then. And besides, we have one right here." He gestures towards Tara, giving him a 'really' look.
"Indeed, the more the merrier, they say." Queen Titania giggled out while her husband chuckled, earning an eye roll from the king of elves.
"And how are we going to convince them? They aren't easily reasoned with." King Eion said to them.
"King Eion is correct." Abasi said in agreement. "Vikings are known to smash first and ask questions later. I doubt they would listen to any of us."
"Actually...there is one." Moana said, getting everyone's attention. "Three years ago, Malie met a Viking named Lani. He rides a Sand Wraith, and he is very reasonable to ask for aid."
"Hmm...if this Lani person can be reasoned with, maybe he can convince the Vikings of Berk to aid them in battle." Ezekiel said as he looked at the council.
"So, we must find this Lani and hope that he could convince the Vikings of Berk to aid the Freedom Bringers in battle, correct?" Abasi questions the council, who made knowing looks of agreement.
"It seems that we agree on something." The Elven King said before being serious. "However, I am not sure how you can find Lani even though Berk seems to be...unwelcoming."
"Please, King Eion, I'm sure they can handle it." King Oberon said in assurance.
Just then, Keoni came into the meeting room with Keilani and Lanuola following him from behind. They all got on their knees and bowed at their superiors. "Chief Moana, forgive us from entering, but we have urgent news." Keoni said to them.
"What is it, Keoni?" Moana asked with alarm.
"We found Viking intruders at the north side of the island." Keoni informs them.
"What?!" Moana asked in alarm as she got up from her seat. "How is it possible?!"
"Yeah! Mistral and the council are the only ones who have access to the gateway." Tara steps in, wanting to know how they got in.
"Do you know how they got here, warrior?" King Eion questions him.
Keoni nodded as he got up and went towards the council before holding up Lani's necklace. "The blonde one called Tuffnut says that this necklace gave them access to the island." He explained as he handed the necklace to Moana.
Moana looks at the necklace and observes it. Tara peers over Moana's shoulder and recognizes the necklace. "Hey, isn't that the necklace Mal gave to this Lance guy at Berk?" Tara questioned blankly.
"His name is Lani!" Malie corrected with a blush on her face.
This caught both King Seaton and Prince Nereus's attention as they looked at the young princess, who was blushing like crazy. "What?" King Seaton and Nereus asked the blushing Malie.
"What is the meaning of this, Malie?" Nereus asked his sister in a demanding and yet concerned tone.
Malie looked at both her father and brother with an embarrassed face. "I...I made a necklace of good luck for Lani. He was very kind and...and didn't ask any more about me." She explains to her father and brother. "Don't be mad at him, he did nothing wrong, he...he cares for dragons like we do. And he gets into a dangerous situation. So, I gave him the necklace for good luck."
"Hmm...I see..." King Seaton hums out.
"How did you even leave the village without Chief Moana's permission?" Nereus asked his sister.
"Well..." Malie was cut off by Tara, who butts in.
"I was the one who helped her sneak out to help her give the necklace to Link." Tara explains to the oldest brother.
"His name is Lani." Malie corrected Tara again but quietly. "But I didn't even know that necklace could open a gateway."
"You couldn't." Jade spoke calmly as she got up and walked over to them. Moana hands her the necklace, allowing Jade to observe it. "This necklace was blessed by the gods."
"What?" Everyone was surprised by her words.
"Why would the gods bless the necklace and allow Vikings in Motunui? It is the only safe haven, besides the Enchanted Islands, for the dragons can roam free." The Elven King questions in shock.
"Maybe they have a reason for doing so?" Ezekiel suggested to the group.
"Indeed, we have." A beautiful voice that came from a woman.
They all turned to the entrance and gasped to see a beautiful woman standing there. She has a slender figure, skin like the people of Motunui, green forest eyes, hair made of nature itself, a floral headdress, and a dress made of beautiful flora and fauna. And on her chest was a glowing green gem. The woman is unrecognizable to the group, but Moana, Malie, Keoni, and Maui know who she is.
"Te Fiti." Moana whispers, getting everyone's attention, before they all get to their knees to bow to the ancient deity. They knew very well that Te Fiti has many forms but rarely used them since she works day and night to bring life on the islands. But seeing her here in human form is a rare sight. Speaking of which, Te Fiti's human form smiles at them gently as they show their utmost respect. Coral's eyes sparkled at the sight of the great goddess, she heard many stories about her when she was a guppy.
"What brings the mother of all nature here?" King Seaton asked the great deity respectfully.
"I came to vouch for the Viking name Lani Flokidottir." Te Fiti answered to them gently, getting their attention. "He and his friends can help the Freedom Bringers with their mission in saving the dragons."
"Wait, you allowed the Vikings to come here?" Moana asked in shock and surprise.
Te Fiti nodded her head. "Yes, but I didn't do it alone."
Everyone was confused until they felt a powerful wind bursting inside the meeting hut. Everyone shielded themselves from the sudden gust of wind. Until they heard a powerful roar from outside. Withdrawing their hands and arms off their faces, they gasped again to see Lord Draco, outside of the meeting hut, standing on the water with ease. With him were Cayden and his brothers, standing at both of his sides.
"Lord Draco!?" Moana, Keoni, Maui, and Malie exclaimed in shock.
"Greetings, Chief Moana, Sir Keoni, Maui, and Princess Malie. I am glad that you are all well." He greeted them kindly.
"Same..." Moana said in astonishment before clearing her throat. "Lord Draco, did you and Te Fiti really bless the necklace to bring Lani and his friends here?"
"Indeed, we have, but sadly, we did not properly instruct him how to use it. And we are hoping that you could teach him." Draco said to her.
"Wait, me?" Moana asked in surprise.
"Yes, Moana, you and your friends need to understand Lani and the riders." Te Fiti said to them kindly. "You can both help each other in saving the dragons as well as reuniting both your tribes as one."
"Unite our tribes?" Moana asked in confusion.
"But Te Fiti, the Vikings have no idea what they will know." Keoni said to the goddess. "I mean, they barely knew the legends and myths. How will they believe us?"
"You can and you will." Draco said to them with determination. "Chief Moana, we know that you and your friends can do the impossible. Like how you all succeeded in bringing the dragons together."
"Hmm...Lord Draco is correct." King Oberon said in agreement as he looked at the Freedom Bringers with a smile. "You all made it possible. So, why don't you all try and convince them to help you save the dragons."
"And maybe they could redeem themselves for their actions all those years ago." Queen Titania added as she agrees with her husband.
"You're not surely believe that these Vikings could redeem themselves for causing the great war of the mermaids?" King Eion asked them. "Their crimes have been known throughout the ages."
"We are aware of their crimes." Te Fiti said to them calmly. "But you almost learn how to accept change, you may not forget the crimes of the past, but learn to forgive those who seek redemption. Like how Maui did." She said, gesturing towards a sheepish Demigod. "Let them join their cost and help them unite a broken bond."
King Eion was silent at first. The Goddess's words made him think of what could be possible if Vikings would be part of the unity. Sure, they allow Moana and her people to be in their unity, since she is the descendant of Matai Vasa, who cares for dragons like everyone in the Enchanted Islands. And he did recall that Vikings were once allies with them before the great divide. He was also curious if they could pull it off with unity.
"If so, then they must prove themselves, that way we will know if we can trust them again." King Eion said as he looked at the council. "Those in favor?"
All the council members raised their hands up, agreeing to this decision. Malie was relieved about her father and brother agreeing with this, even though their dark history with the Vikings many years ago, she was also lucky that they don't hold grudges. Otherwise, Lani and his friends will be in serious trouble.
"I see we're all in agreement." King Seaton said to everyone. "Meeting adjourned."
The council members stood up from their seats while Te Fiti looked at the Freedom Bringers. "Now, you should go and release them from their cell and show them your reason." Te Fiti said to them kindly.
Moana nodded at her. "Of course, we'll do our best." She said to the goddess.
Smiling, both Draco and Te Fiti turn before the goddess turns into flower petals and blows away with the wind while Draco flies off with Cayden's brothers, leaving Motunui. After they leave, Moana looks at her fiancé and asks. "Keoni, I need a ride to Keahi Clan."
Keoni nodded in acknowledgement and whistled for Makaio. His Tide Glider came in from the beach and lowered his back, allowing both Keoni and Moana to get on. Malie was about to follow them but was stopped by her brother calling to her.
"Malie, a word please?" Nereus swam over to the edge of the pool.
Curious and worried, she came over to her older brother. "Is there something wrong, Nereus?" She asked her brother.
"This Lani...he doesn't mean any harm to you, correct?" Nereus questions his younger sister.
Hearing this, Malie shook her head. "Oh, no, Lani means no harm, he is very kind and gentle for a Viking." She explained to Nereus, hoping to convince him.
Although Nereus is a serious one, he won't be easily convinced by mere words, he needs proof. But he couldn't stay too long, so he and his father needed to return back to Aquatica and continue their royal duties. "Very well, just be careful, little sister. I don't want you to get hurt."
"Don't worry about me, Nereus. I can take care of myself." Malie assured him with a smile. "Now, excuse me, I have to help Moana with this situation. And I promise to be careful."
Nereus wasn't convinced, but he couldn't stop her. So, with a sigh, Nereus just gave a nod. "All right, but make sure to stay your distance from them. Understood?"
Malie nodded with a smile. "Understood, brother."
With that, Malie turns and leaves to get on Cayden, excited to see Lani again. Nereus sighs worriedly at his sister, not wanting her to have her heart broken by a Viking boy. So, Tara came over to him calmly, and without looking, Nereus asked her this.
"Can you keep my sister safe from him?"
Tara nodded her head with arms crossed. "Don't worry, your highness, if Lyle tries anything, I'll introduce Pain and Agony to him." She said, lifting both her fists with a wide and wicked grin.
Nereus raises a brow at her. "I thought his name was Lani?" He questions the Lycanwing girl.
Tara blew a raspberry. "Yeah, anyways, you don't have to worry about Mal, because me and Cayden will be protecting her."
Knowing that his sister is in good hands, Nereus nodded at her. "Thank you, Tara."
"No prob." Tara said before going after her friends. "Wait up!"
Tara turns into her Lycanwing form while Maui turns into a giant hawk. They follow the group to the Keahi clan while Coral searches for Gil and tells him everything. As they left, the council members started to leave and headed back to Enchanted Islands.
"You know, things are starting to get interesting around here because of the Freedom Bringers." King Oberon said with a grin.
"Indeed, my love." Queen Titania said in agreement. "Chief Moana knows how to take care of her people and is well prepared in planning."
"She has a strong will, heart, and mind," Ezekiel said with a nod.
"An excellent candidate to join our council." Jade added with a smile.
Tui heard this and looked at Jade with wide eyes, "I beg your pardon? You...you wish to make my daughter part of your council?"
"Why not? She is strong, a great leader, and a perfect example to understand what it means to unite as one." King Eion said to Tui. "You should be very proud to have a strong-willed daughter. She will bring greatness to us all."
Hearing this, Tui couldn't help but turn towards his daughter, watching her with her friends leave the holding cell. He remembered the day when Moana came into the world, a happy and adventurous child, with a hint of mischief, just like his mother, Tala. Oh, how he misses her so. She left this world too soon; she would've been very proud of Moana and Aliikai as well. Tui allowed a small spread across his face, proud of his daughter's achievements and her courage.
"Yes...yes, I am." Tui said softly.
His daughter rode with her friends as they headed towards the Keahi Clan, where the dragon riders were being held inside a cave. And in that cave were bars made of strong woods. There, the riders were inside, weaponless after the Keahi warriors confiscated all of them. The riders were trying to figure a way to get out of here and convince the leader that they meant no harm. Well, Hiccup was thinking of a plan. The twins were trying to figure a way out of the prison cell. They tried to bite down on the wood, but it was too strong, and they lost some teeth. They tried punching and kicking it, but it earned pain from their hands and feet.
"Would you two knock it off!?" Snotlout exclaimed, paralyze on the floor, still unable to move. "We're trapped in this stupid cell until the leader of this freaky island judges us!"
"Well, for your information, Snorlout. We're trying to figure a way out of this prison cell!" Tuffnut exclaimed as he held them in the bars of their prison and yelled at the two guards. They were wearing masks and holding spears, and their backs facing them, ignoring Tuffnut's yelling and banter. "Let us out! You hear me?! I know you can hear me! Seriously, you can't be quiet forever!"
The Keahi warriors did not reply, simply blocking him out of their heads as they continued guarding. Tuffnut stared at them blankly as Ruffnut came besides her brother. "Huh, guess they can stay quiet forever, bro." She said to Tuffnut.
Growling, Tuff started yelling and screaming like a maniac, trying to pry open the bars of their cell, which had no effect. Hiccup sighs in annoyance, knowing that Tuffnut can be overdramatic into situations like this. They need another way out of here without causing a ruckus, if only Toothless and the other dragons were here, they can bust them out easily.
"Okay, when the leader comes to us, we have to show him that we mean no harm and that we are trying to save dragons from the hunters." Hiccup explained the plan to the group.
"Sounds good, Hiccup." Lani agrees with him.
"Wait, what happens if they're going to test us like how Mala did at the Defenders of the Wing Island." Heather said to them. "The leader might want to test us on how we train dragons."
"Great, just what we need, a test that will kill us." Snotlout mutters out in annoyance.
"M...maybe we can try and convince them to let us go and promise not to tell anyone about their island." Fishlegs suggested hesitantly.
"Or they toss us in a pit and force us to face a wild dragon of unknown origin that might and will kill us." Ruffnut suggested, butting in the conversation while watching her brother headbutting their prison.
"Look, if we want to convince the leader, we need to show them we come in peace." Hiccup said to the group with determination. "I don't care how long it will take or what trials we will go through, no matter what, we will succeed in convincing them to-"
Hiccup was cut off when Keoni, wearing his mask, entered the cave with Keilani and Lanuola following him from behind, both wearing masks as well. He said something that took them off guard. "You are free to go."
"Wait, what?" Hiccup asked in confusion.
"We are?" Astrid was confused yet suspicious about this.
"What?" Heather was next to ask as she too was confused.
"W-why are you letting us go?" Lani asked the heir of the Keahi Clan.
"Someone has vouched for you." Keoni answered to them, nodding towards the guards to let them go.
Understanding his command, the two Keahi guards unlock the cage, allowing the riders to be free, except Snotlout, who is still paralyzed and barely moves his body. "A little help here?" Snotlout asked them from the floor.
"Assist him, please." Keoni ordered the two guards. They obeyed his words and went in, picking up the Jorgenson's from both his arms and carrying him out with no problem. Keoni looked at the confused and dumbfounded riders as he gestured them to follow. "Come, the chief is waiting for you outside."
"Chief?" Both Hiccup and Lani mutter out in confusion but follow Keoni to the exit while Snotlout was being carried by the two guards. They were quiet through the walk, unsure what to ask or say to Keoni.
"I wonder why they're letting us go?" Lani asked Hiccup quietly.
"I don't know, but whoever vouched for us, we owe that person." Hiccup answered quietly.
Soon, they found the exit and were greeted by the bright sun, causing the riders to shield their eyes, before adjusting as they found themselves at the jungle that has a path that leads to the jungle. And waiting for them outside were three dragons, a Tide Glider, a Triple Stryke, and a Grapple Grounder. The riders wonder where their dragons were until Lani hears a familiar voice.
"Lani!"
Lani's eyes widened when he heard the familiar voice. Turning towards the course, his eyes widened as he couldn't believe what he saw. It was Malie! The girl that he met three years ago. And boy, she has grown to be a beautiful fine young woman. Her long red hair was still in a braid. She wears a blue bikini with a short red sarong, wrapped around her. Hiccup, Tuffnut, Snotlout, and Fishlegs's mouths dropped at the sight of Malie. Lani mentioned that she was pretty, but now, she's hot! Malie wasn't fazed by the other males as she ran up to Lani and hugged him, spurring the blonde in the process, who was blushing like crazy at the sudden hug, before Malie lets go and smiles at him.
"It's good to see you again!" She said to Lani happily, a blush came to her face as she looked at him.
Lani's blush hasn't left his face as he cleared his throat, trying his best to stay calm. "Y-Yeah! It's good to see you too and...wow! You...you changed. A lot actually." He said, stuttering a bit.
Malie giggles at him. "Well, it's been three years." She reminded him before looking at the rest of the riders. "Are these your friends?"
Looking back at the riders, Lani nodded as he gestured to each and every one of them. "Yes, Malie, these are my friends Hiccup, Astrid, Snotlout, Ruffnut and Tuffnut, Fishlegs, and Heather. Everyone, this is Malie, the girl I told you guys about."
"Duh! I mean, look at her! She's hot!" Snotlout said, being held on both arms by the two guards.
"Snotlout!" Astrid and Heather scolded him for being rude.
"What? She is!" Snotlout stated to the two girls. "Don't tell me your girls are jealous?"
"It would be wise not to anger these women." Keoni informs Snotlout without looking at him.
"Oh yeah? Why is that?" Snotlout challenged.
Keoni glares at him under his mask, even though he couldn't see it, Snotlout felt shivers coming from his spine. "Nothing is much worse than a woman's scorn." He warns Snotlout, scaring the poor Jorgenson in the process, much to Astrid and Heather's appreciation.
"Wait a second." Lani suddenly said as he looked at Malie, "Did you...did you vouch for us?"
Smiling sheepishly, Malie nodded her head. "In a way, yes, I heard about you being imprisoned by mistakenly being intruders. I told everyone that you and your friends are not a threat since you are kind to your dragons."
"So, you were the one that told the chief of this island that we're good?" Fishlegs asked Malie with wide eyes.
"Mm-hmm, the chief and I are good friends." Malie answered.
"You are?" The Dragon Riders asked in surprise.
"We are." Moana said, coming over to them, shocking the riders even more. "I am Moana Waialiki, Chief of Motunui and leader of the Freedom Bringers. I welcome you all to our island and forgive us for capturing you all. We do not know if there were good humans out there."
The Dragon Riders stared at Moana with wide eyes and jaws dropped. They turned towards Keoni, who was wearing a mask but raised a brow at them when they looked at him, before turning to Moana again. Unsure what just happened right now.
"Hold on." Hiccup suddenly asked as he pointed at Moana. "You're the chief?"
Moana nodded her head. "I am." She answered to him casually before raising a brow, "You have a problem for a woman to be a chief of a village?"
"What? No! Nononono! It's just...it's just thought that he was chief of the island." Hiccup said, gesturing towards Keoni.
Moana giggled. "Keoni is a leader, he is the heir of the Keahi Clan, a warrior clan to be exact." She corrected Hiccup. "I'm sure that you have a lot of answers, and I will answer them the best way I could."
"Chief Moana, if I may?" Lani asked Moana, who nodded at him, as he rubbed his arm. "Where are our dragons? We are very worried about them and we don't want them to get into trouble."
"Don't worry about it." Said Tara, who was coming out behind the rock. "Some of our friends left to check on them." Tara looks over to the shock and surprise group before her gaze turns towards Hiccup. "Long time no see, Hiccup."
Hiccup looked at her in confusion. "I'm sorry. Do I...do I know you?"
Tara rolled her eyes at him as she crossed her arms. "That's hurtful, Haddock. I remember you and yet you don't remember me. After I saved you from those bozos from bullying by tying them up, shooting them out with a catapult, and sending them crashing to a bush of poison oak."
Her explanation caused Hiccup to remember the story Gobber told him and the others three years ago about a daughter of a trader that Hiccup befriended as a child. Hiccup's eyes then widened in realization as he looked at Tara like if she was a ghost. "Tara? Tara Aaberg?"
Smirking, Tara crossed her arms and looked at them. "Glad that you remember me, H." She said to him casually.
"H-how...when?" Hiccup has no words to speak as he was too shocked by what he just found out.
"I'll answer your questions later, after we get to your dragons. And also..." Tara smirk turns to a grin as she spreads her arms wide as she gestures to the jungle. "Welcome to paradise."
I will work on the next chapter soon, I just need time to think and rest. The bridge thing was FoxyKhai0209's idea.
If you guys have ideas for other human tribes, leave them in the comments below. The Ocean Furies are dragon ideas for this story since Coral needs a suitable dragon for her. Skrill Furies are hybrids between Skirlls and Night Furies.
