The group split up to cover more ground. Fenrir was tracking the scent of Loki while the group kept an eye on their surroundings. Thor warns them that Loki is known to be a shapeshifter. He can take any form of anyone or animals. Gil asked how often those Loki shapeshifts, and the Thunder God told him and the others the story of when they were children, Loki transformed himself into a snake, and he knows that Thor loves snakes. So, Thor went to pick up the snake to admire it and Loki transformed back into himself and he was like, "Yeah, it's me!", and then he stabbed Thor. The Freedom Bringers stared at Thor with mixed expressions of disturbance, shock, and confusion. Clearly, they weren't comfortable with the idea of being stabbed as children.
"And...how old were you two when this happened?" Maui dared to ask.
"We were eight at the time." Thor answers casually.
The Freedom Bringers stared at him in disbelief, wondering why on the name of their ancestors he would casually say that. Loki tried to kill him when they were kids! Draco sighs in annoyance and shakes his head. The Dragon God knows very well that Thor and Loki have an estranged or better yet, a complicated brother relationship. It was dangerous to be in the same room with them. That is why whenever Draco visits Asgard with Te Fiti; he makes sure that the Island Goddess stays very close to him. He does not want her to fall victim to Loki's shenanigans and Thor's drunken rambling. As they continued searching through the forest in different spots, they weren't aware of a crow perching on top of a branch, eyeing on Hiccup with mischievous eyes.
This crow was actually Loki in disguise. He was watching everyone from a distance while keeping his presence hidden. He was attempting to capture Hiccup and maybe turn him into a dragon. You see, his daughter, Tara, cares for Hiccup as a brother figure, and it will be so amusing to see his daughter's face.
When the group separated to cover more growth, Loki beams in delight when he notices Hiccup in a far distance and his Night Fury was too far out of reach from his rider and was busy searching through the undergrowth. Loki swoops down and attempts to grab Hiccup, but is thwarted when a Sand Wraith comes out of nowhere and tackles Loki with a roar. Loki lets out a squawk of surprise before he is pinned down by Sandstorm. Before she could harm him, Loki uses his magic to force her off him, sending her flying to the canopy. Loki attempted to escape until a big claw grabbed him and turned Loki back to his original form. Before Loki even uses his magic, something created a magical force to prevent him from using it.
"Curses!" Loki curses out before he notices that the one that grabbed him was Draco. The Dragon God was glaring at him with great anger. He has many ways to beat this fool, starting with his face!
"L-Lord Draco! You're looking well..." Loki stutters out, trying to act all friendly in hopes to calm the Dragon God's rage, but it fails, really-really badly.
"Give me ONE good reason why I shouldn't destroy you right now?" Draco growls in anger.
Loki gulps in fear, "Er...well...you see...um..."
"Put him down, Lord Draco." Te Fiti said, walking over to them with the others following. "We need him to reverse his trickery to Moana, Keoni, and Malie."
"Yes! Yes! Yes! Listen to your wife, Lord Draco!" Loki said in a panic tone, grateful that Te Fiti was here.
Draco glares at him again, tightening his hold and nearly choking the Trickster God, "We are not married."
"Uuuggghhh..." Loki groans in pain.
The Thorston Twins admired Loki with wide eyes. Even though he turned their friends into dragons, they still admire their favorite god. The rest of the group gathered while Hiccup came over to them.
"Nice job on the disguise, Lani." Coral said to 'Hiccup'.
Loki watched as 'Hiccup' removed the fake hair, revealing Lani instead. And the other Lani with them was actually Hiccup himself. The two doppelgangers switch roles in order to trick Loki into grabbing the wrong Hiccup. The Trickster God's mouth dropped in utter shock. He couldn't believe what just happened, they tricked the trickster!
"I knew that you were going to after Hiccup!" Tara yelled at her 'dad', "You knew that I treated him like a brother and was going to turn him into a dragon!"
"It was a surprise gift for you, my child." Loki said slyly.
Tara glares at him more, "Don't call me your child! I'm not your kid and never will be!" She then points to her three friends that were turned into dragons. "NOW CHANGE THEM BACK!"
Loki stared at his daughter for a brief moment until he said, "No."
"WHAT?!" Tara yelled in anger.
"You heard me, I said no-AH!" Loki suddenly yelped when Draco brought him close to his growling face.
"You listen here, you pathetic excuse of a god, you have broken more rules that I could count, and cause problems to only me, but to every being that you turned victims into your ridiculous pranks. So, either change them back or I will BURN YOU ALIVE AND TURN YOU INTO ASHES!"
"Meep..." Loki whimpers out in fear.
"Now, change them back!" Tara yells at her 'Godly Father'.
Again, Loki stares at his daughter briefly before lifting a finger, and said to them this: "Hold please."
"What/What?/What?" Everyone questions unison.
Without warning, Loki slips off Draco's claw and slides towards strange looking bellflowers. Jade recognizes them as magical music flowers. They can play any musical instruments that the person wants them to play. And it didn't take long on what Loki was about to do. Without his magic, he only requires the assistance of the musical flowers. To prove it, he simply brushed the flowers and they began playing music.
Loki started dancing with the beat:
Listen, little girl
You're talking to a God
And I don't wanna hear the drama
Kindness ain't my brand
The group just stared at him with mixed expressions. The Dragon Riders, minus the Thorston Twins, stared with confused expressions along with the Freedom Bringers, minus Tara, she was glaring at Loki with hatred. Thor, his sons, and Fenrir were giving Loki the looks of uncertainty, unsure how to react with this. The Dragons, including Te Fiti, were sharing the same look of confusion and disturbance, while Draco was glaring at Loki with the same hatred that Tara shares.
Tara flares her arms up in frustration:
Oh, I guess that's why you ran
Loki wiggles a finger at her:
Try being married to your mama!
Tara glares at him angrily, how dare he insult her mother like that!
You stink at being a dad!
Loki came over to her:
Poor Tarie, are you sad?
Tara glares at him and points a finger onto his chest:
Not as sad as you without your powers
I didn't come to fight
For once, do something right!
Loki rolled his eyes at Tara before giving her a flower that he randomly picked up:
I cause mischief, were you expecting flowers?
Tara's eyes turned into dragon eyes as she bares her sharp teeth at Loki with a growl:
I only need you 'cause I came here for something!
Loki:
I've given you everything!
Loki and Tara:
By giving you/me nothing!
Loki moves away and gestures himself:
I did what I had to do
The Thorston Twins began vocalizing while their friends stared at them with confused look and Draco giving them an annoyed on:
Ooh-ooh-ooh
Tara glares at Loki as she growls at him:
No, you only did what's best for you!
Loki leans over to his daughter with a grin:
Well, you could learn a thing or two
Thorston Twins:
Ooh-ooh-ooh
Loki bumps his hips with Tara, almost topoling her over but regains her balance as she glares at Loki:
When push comes to shove
You do what you gotta do, yeah
Tara pushes him away and place both her hands on her hips:
You were never there
Guess you don't have a messenger
You never write to say, "I miss you"
Loki laughs at her mockingly while crossing his arms:
Ha ha ha, are you kidding?
Is this a joke?
You need to let it go
You're stronger with those daddy issues
Tara glares at him:
Oh! Thank you!
Loki bobs his head up and down:
Show me some respect
It ain't easy to neglect
My attention would've made you softer!
Tara glares at him deeper with a mocking look:
Ooh-hoo! Should I be proud?
Don't turn this thing around!
Loki chuckles and place a bouquet of flowers on Tara's head like a flower crown:
I guess you are your father's daughter, ha, ha, ha
Tara's right eye twitched as she tosses the flowers away:
Don't think I need you; I just came here for something!
Loki:
I've given you everything!
Tara and Loki:
By giving you/me nothing!
Tara went to her friends, mainly Night Fury Moana, Skrill Keoni, and Water Dragon Malie:
I did what I had to do
Draco was restraining both Thorston Twins with one of his claws (preventing them from going near Loki), frowning as they continued vocalizing:
Ooh-ooh-ooh
Tara:
I made it on my own, no thanks to you!
Loki leans besides her:
Well, you could learn a thing or two
Thorston Twins:
Ooh-ooh-ooh!
Loki:
When push comes to shove
You do what you gotta do
Loki placed an arm around Tara's shoulders:
How 'bout I go with you and we'll spend some time?
Tara glares at him even more, shoving his arm off her:
How 'bout you stay here 'cause you're out of your mind!
Loki wraps his arm around her again and guides her around:
Let's make new memories, you can show me the town
Again, Tara shoves him and glares at his face:
No, you can keep your memories now
Loki glares back with a smirk:
Get over it
Tara glares even harder with a growl:
I am over it!
The two turned away from each other, facing different direction:
I'm over you being over it!
The two glared at each other again while Loki begins dancing:
Let's dance!
As Loki dances around through the beat with Tara glaring at him, the rest of the group were uncertain of this situation. They just stared at the background while Draco was the only one glaring at Loki while restraining the Thorston Twins, who were supporting their favorite god.
Tara and Loki:
I did what I had to do (Thorston Twins: Ooh-ooh-ooh)
No, you only did what's best for you
Well, you could learn a thing or two (Thorston Twins: Ooh-ooh-ooh)
When push comes to shove, you do
When push comes to shove, you do
When push comes to shove
You do what you gotta doooo!
Loki:
Yeah, Ha!
Tara rolls her eyes again and crosses her arms while turning away:
Please...
When they finished their song, the Thorston applauded them, grinning at their favorite god. Draco's frown deepened even more, annoyed that Loki was stalling the inevitable. Loki has to undo his curse now or Draco will lose it. Te Fiti did her best to calm Draco down. Knowing very well, he'll go on a rampage.
"Change. Them. Back." Tara growls out slowly, glaring at Loki.
"I would...unless someone can activate my magic back." Loki said, referring towards Draco, who was glaring at him.
"Not a chance, the moment when Lord Draco returns you powers, you'll disappear again and we have to chase you around Asgard or the other realms!"
"I would never!" Loki said in a mocking tone.
"You would." An unknown female voice came out of nowhere.
Loki froze from his spot as he and the others looked at the direction of the voice. There stood a woman, taller than Loki, and slender looking. She has long black and white hair, a bang covering her left side of her face. Black horns on her head, and red eyes with black sclera. Standing both her sides were Night Furies, but these Night Furies were different from Toothless and Aliikai. For starters, they're twice their size, have darker shadings with red markings. They have scythe shaped tail fins, their ears were pointy, and their eyes...their eyes were the same as the woman's. Except their pupils are red with a hint of yellow and their eyes are black. Both were male and female.
"Greetings, Lady Hel." Te Fiti greeted the woman kindly.
The mortals and the demigods were shock to hear Te Fiti saying the woman's name. This woman was actually Hel. The Goddess of the Dead, Ruler of Helheim, and the older half-sister of Tara. Moreover, the dragons with Hel were none other than Death Furies, the harbingers of death, collectors of souls of the fallen, and punishers of disrespect Hel or the Gods.
Hel smiles at Te Fit and Draco warmly, ignoring her so-called 'father'. "Lord Draco! Lady Te Fiti! It's good to see both again." Hel embraces Te Fiti's dragon form and the Island Goddess returns the embrace.
"It's good to see you as well, Lady Hel." Te Fiti said to her warmly, "I haven't seen you for a long time."
Hel smiles sadly at Te Fiti, "Well, you were turned into a fire demon for a thousand years, but it's finally good to see you're back."
"It's good to be back."
Hel then looked over to Tara, her expression became even brighter at the sight of her, "Hello, Tara, it's nice to finally meet you."
Without any warning, Hel hugged Tara, surprising the redheaded girl. She didn't understand but...this felt right for some reason. Tara slowly yet awkwardly hugs back her half-sister, unsure what to do in this situation. Hel lets go of her before she turns towards Loki with a frown. "I see that 'father' has caused another trouble with the mortals, and is refusing to help in your situation."
"You have no idea." Tara mutters out in agreement.
Hel looks at the group and informs them, "You do realize that if you give him his power, he will try to escape again."
"I am fully aware of his trickery." Draco bluntly points out, glaring at Loki, who was whistling to another direction.
"That is why I am here." Hel said, looking towards the three Freedom Bringers that were turned into dragons, "As you know; only Loki could reverse his mischief, but there is a loophole."
"Loophole? What loophole?" Lani asked the goddess of the dead.
"That one of his spouses has the ability to reverse his curse." Hel lifted a hand, emitting magical energy.
Loki gasped at this outcome. Hel has figured out the reverse way of breaking his curse. Seeing his expression, both Draco and Te Fiti nodded in approval, allowing Hel to break the curse. Smirking towards her father, Hel mutters a spell that was in Norse. A wave energy escaped through her hands as the magic swirls around the three. They were consumed by a light and a force wind followed, nearly blowing everyone. Ten seconds later, the light vanishes, revealing three humans. Moana, Keoni, Malie looked among themselves and began laughing with pure joy as they returned to normal. Their dragons quickly went over to them, roaring with pure joy to see their riders all right.
"You broke the curse!" Gil said in fascination, "I thought the only way to break the curse was-"
"By the original caster, however. Like I said before, the spouse of the said caster can break the sire's curse." Hel said with a smirk, "Which reminds me...is there something that Lord Draco was supposed to do with my father?"
With those exact words, everyone turned towards Loki, who attempted to sneak away. But Thanks to Hel's Death Furies giving out threatening growls to the Trickster God, Loki cannot escape this time. Loki notices the looks that the group was giving him as he makes a nervous laugh.
"Going somewhere, Loki?" Jade questions the god of mischief with her arms crossed.
"Um..." Before Loki could say anything, Draco uses his magic to freeze him from his spot. The Dragon God went to Loki and plucked Loki from the ground with a menacing look.
"Since you broke an important rule, I believe Lord Draco will be the one giving you the punishment, dear father." Hel said coldly towards Loki, who gulped in fear, before turning towards Draco with a kind expression, "I do hope you enjoy tormenting him, Lord Draco."
"Oh believe me, I will..." Draco growls out, glaring at Loki's whimpering form.
Thor laughs happily, "Since that's taken care of, let's go back to the palace and celebrate! Father would love to meet you, Tara!"
Tara looks at her uncle and then to the others. She watches as Aliikai was hugging her human sister happily while Makaio the Tide Glider, and Malie was licking, and a relief Cayden was checking Keoni. From what they've been through, I think it is time for them to have a break. Plus, it will also fix the surprise party that her friends worked so hard to make before it was ruined by Loki.
"You know what, Thor, I think it's time to celebrate." Tara said in agreement.
Everyone cheers in agreement, mostly the Dragon Riders, Thor, and his sons. They love to party. Draco will attend, right after he deals with Loki first. Tara smirks, enjoying the sight of her father going to be tormented by Draco while her 'cousins' were making bets to see what he'll do to Loki.
"Hey, um...Lady Hel?" Tara said towards the Goddess of the Underworld. Hel looks at her half-sister with a curious look as Tara spoke to her, "Thanks for...you know...undoing the curse that Loki cast on my friends. I didn't know there was a possibility."
Hel chuckles lightly, "Well, you can't blame me for knowing this. After all, I've been studying all kinds of magic, and I always make sure to find loopholes in this situation."
Tara couldn't help but smile at this, "In any case, I am glad that we're related."
Hel smiles back, "As do I."
"Anywho...do you want to join along for the party?" Tara offers the invitation to Hel.
"That sounds lovely, but I have to return to Helheim to keep track of those souls." Hel said to her half-sister with a sad smile, "We wouldn't want the undead to come to life now, would we?"
Tara smirks at her words, "True, although it would be nice to get to know my older sister."
Hel chuckles kindly at Tara, "It would be nice to get to know you. Maybe next time, when you and your friends ever come to visit."
Tara made a small smile as she looked at her friends. A laughing Coral was being tossed into the air with Inka (her pet squid) by Magni and Modi, both laughing with pure joy. Poor Gil was trying to get them to stop, but they were having a fun time. And besides, it would be cool to explore more of Asgard if they ever visit.
"That would be nice, thanks so much, Lady Hel." Tara said kindly.
"Tara, you don't have to call me Lady Hel, you can just call me Hel or sister."
Tara was stunned by her words. She couldn't believe the Goddess of the Dead would allow her to call her that. In any case, both she and Hel do share the same blood (or better yet, father) and yet it was pleasantly strange to have someone to be related to, and Tara had to agree with her decision. Smirking at Hel, Tara gave a small nod, "Sure thing, Sis."
Smiling at her words, the two half-sisters shared a small hug, with Fenrir putting his snout close to them. They soon let go and promise to meet later at the castle. Aliikai was going to help Moana get on her back until the adult male Death Fury came in front of her, startling the poor Night Fury in the process. The two Furies had eye contact, locking into one another and neither of them moving away. The others, minus Hel, Draco, the Vahloks, and the Goldenhearts, tense at the sight of the Death Fury close to Aliikai. The female Night Fury wasn't sure what she had done to offend him or what's his reason, and before she could ask why, the Death Fury lifted a paw before opening it, revealing Aliikai's flower. The female Night Fury gasped in surprise. She hadn't realized that her flower had fallen off from the wind when Hel used her magic to turn her sister and friends to normal. She was about to take it until, without any warning, the Death Fury placed the flower back on Aliikai's head with such a gentle manner, much to the surprise of the female Night Fury. The others were also shocked by this gesture. They couldn't believe that this dragon was actually dangerous. Aliikai looked back at Death Fury's hellfire eyes, and felt some kind of familiarity. Making her feel warm and safe for some reason.
"Um...thank you?" Aliikai spoke hesitantly, hoping she wasn't rude.
The Death Fury responded with a nod, accepting her thanks. His eyes were soft and gentle towards her, resembling her adopted father's gaze. Aliikai was again shocked by this outcome. She never met a Death Fury before that was so...kind. From what she heard from Gil, the Death Furies are known to be the notorious species of dragons, stronger, faster, and above all, deadlier. Their powers have no equal in the dragon community, as they were created to be Hel's dragons.
"We should go now." Moana said to Aliikai, getting on her back.
Aliikai agrees and bids the male Death Fury a good day before going towards the group. The Male Death Fury watched as Aliikai made it back to her pack, however; his expression hardened at sight of Toothless going near Aliikai, concerned about his fellow Night Fury companion. Tara notices the Male Death Fury's expression change when Toothless was close to Aliikai.
"Is everything all right with your Death Fury?" Tara asked her older half-sister.
Hel looks at her Death Fury with a hidden expression that Tara has trouble understanding. She knows something Tara doesn't know about. "Abaddon is very mysterious like the rest of my Death Furies, but I can assure you, he means no harm...yet."
Tara scoffs a bit with a small snicker, "I'll take that offer. Welp, gotta go, see ya at the party, Sis."
With that, Tara runs back to her friends, getting on Aliikai and sitting behind Moana, ready to go. Magni and Modi got on Fenrir since he was faster among them. They all soon took off to the sky, unaware that the Death Fury Abaddon was watching Aliikai leaving with an expression that is calm yet with a hint of sadness. Hel walks besides him and watches the group leave with Draco holding a screaming Loki in his claw.
"You know, you could've told her about yourself, Abaddon." Hel said to her Death Fury gently. "She has the right to know."
Abaddon didn't bother to look at her as he was busy watching Aliikai leaving the forest with her friends. "I do not wish to ruin her life, mistress. For she is happy with her adopted sister."
The female Death Fury came beside him, giving him a calm look, "Abaddon, you can't hide this forever, not even from your own daughter."
Abaddon looked at her with a cold expression and sternly said; "My daughter is happy with her new life, Umbra. I do not wish to destroy it, even if it means not telling her birthright."
"You are her father, Abaddon." Umbra said to Abaddon, "She will one day know about her true self."
Abaddon shook his head at her, "As I said before, dear sister, my daughter is happy, that is all that matters."
"That's enough, both of you." Hel said, stopping the Death Furies, "There will be a time when Abaddon will tell the truth, but for now, let's head back to Helheim to finish work before any souls dare escape, shall we?"
They agree as Hel opens a portal to Helheim. While both Hel and Umbra enter the portal, Abaddon continues to look at the sky with a longing expression. Praying for his daughter's wellbeing.
"Live long and well, my beloved daughter." He whispers out before turning around and entering the portal as it closes behind him.
Sorry if this chapter was sudden or terrible. I was running out of ideas or inspiration in writing due to my work. I will be putting the story on hold until I have my creative writing back.
Also, you guys were surprised by Aliikai's daddy? If so, leave your comments below. I'm still working on the designs of the Death Furies.
