The Legend of Fairies.
Chapter Four: Meeting Sheik and The Adventure Begins.
Previously in the last chapter.
A deep sigh escaped Natsu's lips as he came to a stop. Link also stopped too, and she was wondering if Natsu was going to explained who Acnologia is. She was quite curious about the name.
However, there was a long silence in the chamber, making Link a bit nervous. She was going to say something to break the silence, but Natsu broke it.
"Acnologia isn't just a person." Natsu finally said, turning to look at Link with a hard look in his eyes. "He's a dragon."
"What?!"
(In the Present)
"What do you mean, Acnologia is a dragon?!" Link exclaimed, staring at Natsu with wide eyes that were filled with disbelief. She was expecting that Acnologia was a human or an animal, but she didn't expect that Acnologia was a dragon. Hell, she wasn't even expecting that answer at all and it shocked her to the core.
'I don't think Natsu's lying about Acnologia about being a dragon,' Link thought, remembering the hard look in Natsu's obsidian eyes. 'But I'm finding the dragon part hard to believe, considering there hasn't been any dragons for the last hundred years.'
The hard look in Natsu's eyes became harder as he turned around to glare at the wall. Oh, how he hated that name ever since he first saw the dragon. He hated that dragon's name. No, he loathed the name.
That name, that cursive and hateful name, Acnologia, was causing the blood in Natsu's veins to boil in anger. It also caused him to ball his fist tightly. He wanted to find that dragon and kill it, but at the same time, he doesn't want to find it in fear of getting killed.
'That name…' Natsu thought, scowling heavily when he remembered the large, black/blue dragon that had not only shrugged his Dragon Slayer attacks, but did a menacing Dragon's Roar attack to him and his friends. 'That stupid, coward, bastard of a dragon is the reason why me, Happy and the rest of my friends are sent to this dimension.'
"Are you lying?"
Natsu turned his head very sharply towards Link when she asked that question and gave her a heated glare, making the blue-eyed woman flinched a bit.
"Does my face looked like it's lying?" Natsu asked, still glaring heatedly at Link. He couldn't believe that Link would dare say that to him.
"No! No! I'm not saying that at all!" Link exclaimed, franticly waving her arms around in the air. "It's just, I never expected that answer, Natsu. Are you sure that Acnologia is a dragon?"
"I'm a hundred percent sure, Link." Natsu said, losing the heated glare and turning away from Link. "I never lie at all and what I'm saying is the truth. Acnologia is a dragon."
Link felt regret washed over her as she stared at Natsu's back, not sure what to say. She didn't mean to accuse the pink-hair man of lying, she just wanted to see if Natsu was making the name up.
"Natsu…" Link said, walking over and placing a hand on Natsu's shoulder. "I didn't mean to accuse you of lying. I'm sorry. It's just…"
"It's fine, Link. I understand your doubts." Natsu said, turning his head to the side to look at Link with one obsidian eye. "But I'm not surprised at all."
"What do you mean?" Link asked, a confused frown on her face. "How can you be not surprised about my doubts?"
"Humans can be ignorant, self-centered and have trouble of accepting facts or statements." Natsu explained. "They intend to believe things when they see it for themselves and showing proof is the only way to convince humans that you're telling the truth. Otherwise, you're just wasting your time to convince them to the truth about what you see or what you do. Humans also think you're just saying stuff just to get attention or fame."
(A/N: I know that Natsu is supposed to be dense and stupid in the canon, but the guy is smart when it comes to battles and he does know how to use words)
Link couldn't help but thought about Natsu's words and realized that he was right. Humans are indeed ignorant and self-centered. They don't seem to believe facts or statements and intend to believe things when they see it for themselves. Not only that, but humans also thought that people are just saying stuff just to get attention or fame, which obviously disgusted Link.
'It's just like the time I didn't know what money was when I came to Castle Town for the first time.' Link thought, trying not to become embarrassed when she remembered entering Hyrule's Castle Town for the first time seven years ago, as a little kid with an empty stomach and drooled at the selection of random food. Not knowing that she would cause a lot of problems, Link rushed over to the food and began devouring the food in a fast pace.
However, the moment Link tried to take another bite of the amazing food, the seller roughly grabbed her hand and yanked her away from the food and demanded her to pay for the food with money. But Link, who didn't know about the currency of money, gave the seller a confused look and said that she didn't know what money is. The seller grew very angry, gave the little girl a slap to the face and dragged her away from his food cart and left her in the middle of Castle Town.
The stinging of the slap will still haunt Link forever, much to her embarrassment and shock.
"...ink? Link?" Natsu's voice caused Link's thoughts to be broken. "Link, are you listening to me?"
"Huh?" Link asked, blinking her eyes a few times before realizing that she was spacing out. "Oh, sorry, Natsu. I was just thinking about a memory about what you said about human's being ignorant and self-centered."
"And what was the memory about, Link?" Natsu asked with a raised eyebrow.
The embarrassment Link tried to hide was now showed on her face, and Natsu's eyebrows shot upwards into his hairline. 'Whatever the memory was, it sure is embarrassing Link.' Natsu thought, a chuckle leaving his mouth, making the blonde-hair woman pout childishly and turned away with a huff, while crossing her arms over her chest.
"Oh, come on, Link." Natsu said, trying not to laugh at the pout on Link's face, but the attempt was futile, and he was letting out snorts of laughter, which caused Link to step away from the pink-hair man. "Link! Don't walk away from me! I didn't mean to laugh at you. Can you forgive me?"
What Natsu didn't know was that a hidden smirk, along with a mischief look, was starting to appear on Link's face as she continued to look away. Oh, how she was going to enjoy doing this to Natsu. It will serve him right for laughing at her.
'Any moment now…' Link thought, her smirk growing wider when she heard footsteps coming closer to her.
"Link?" Natsu asked, no longer laughing at Link and placed a hand on her shoulder. "Are you-"
Natsu was cut off when Link suddenly grabbed him by the arm and turned around, while still holding his arm, to let Natsu see her face, which made the pink-hair man paled. He did not like the smirk on Link's face, including the mischief look in her blue eyes.
With strength that Erza would be proud of, Link let out an effort grunt as she lifted Natsu into the air before slamming him to the ground, where he landed painfully on his back.
"Ow…" Natsu groaned, feeling the soreness on his back. "I'm going to feel that for a few days…" Natsu stopped groaning when he heard sound of feminine laughter and he turned to see Link laughing at him, which caused him to be pissed off.
"Link, you jerk!" Natsu yelled, glaring at the blonde-hair woman. "What the hell was that for?!"
"That was for laughing at me." Link replied with a teasing smirk, once she stopped laughing. "The look on your face was priceless when I threw you over my shoulder. And that's paypack."
"Oh, really?" Natsu asked quietly, making Link nod her head in triumph, but the triumph vanished when Natsu suddenly smirked. "Then I guess it's time for me to return the favor."
Before Link can do anything, Natsu quickly got up from the ground, wrapped his arms around Link's waist and pulled him closed to his muscular body before letting his body fall backwards.
Thud!
Natsu felt the pain and soreness on his back again, but he pushed it away. He had to get some payback. Once landed on the ground, Natsu flipped Link onto her back and got on top of her, which caused a gasp to escape Link's lips and a heavy blush to appear on her face. But Natsu didn't noticed, however, as he was trying to bind Link's hands.
'Gotcha!' Natsu thought, finally binding Link's hands above her head with one hand. To make sure that Link wasn't going to move, the pink-hair man straddled Link's waist, which made the kicking attempts the Heroine of Time was trying to do stopped.
With an evil grin on his face, Natsu moved his left hand towards Link's sides and began doing what no girl can ever stand against: Tickling.
Squeals of laughter filled the stone chamber as Natsu tickled Link's sides and armpits mercilessly, which was causing tears of laughter to trail down Link's face.
"N-N-Natsu! HAHAHA! S-stop tickling m-m-me!" Link exclaimed, trying her absolute best to shove the man on top of her away, but Natsu was much stronger than her and she still haven't gotten used to her new body. All she can do is lay there on the ground and be at Natsu's mercy.
'Payback's a bitch, Link.' Natsu thought, still having that smirk on his face, as he continued to tickle Link. He had to admit, he was enjoying hearing Link's laughter. Like her voice, it sounded like an angel. And Natsu wanted to hear that sound forever.
And the best part was, there was nothing, nothing that could ruin this happy moment.
Except…
"I have been waiting for you, Heroine of Time."
Natsu and Link immediately stopped what they're doing when they heard the sudden feminine voice and got up from the ground and into their battle stances, with Natsu raising his fists and Link pulling her sword out of the scabbard.
"Who's there?" Natsu called out, looking around wildly. "Show yourself!"
A slight cough reached Link's and Natsu's ears and they turn towards the three-stacked platforms where a young woman was standing, dressed in blue and white garbing with white wrappings covering her face. She had golden-blond hair, fair skin and crimson eyes, which one eye was visible on the right since the other was covered by the golden hair. The most particular thing about the young woman was the red symbol that was labeled in the front, which seems to be an eye.
"Who are you?" Link asked, narrowing her eyes at the strange woman.
"My name is Sheik." The blue and white garb woman replied in a low voice. "I am last survivor of the Sheikah Tribe."
"Sheikah?" Natsu asked, a pensive look on his face. He didn't know why, but he could've sworn that he heard that name before.
'Last survivor of the Sheikah Tribe?' Link repeated Sheik's words with a frown on her face. 'How can there be one left? Did something happen in Kakariko Village?'
"When a force of evil rules over the Kingdom of Hyrule," Sheik began speaking, breaking Natsu's and Link's thoughts. "An awakening voice from the Sacred Realm will call out to the people who are destined to be one of the six Sages. Each Sage dwells in five temples that are scattered across Hyrule." Sheik then held up a hand. "One temple is in a deep forest." One finger was raised. "One temple is in a high mountain." Another finger was raised. "One temple is under a vast lake." Three fingers raised. "One temple is in the house of the dead." Four fingers raised. "And finally, one temple is in the goddess of the sand." Five fingers were raised, each finger representing a temple.
"Together with the Heroine of Time," Sheik continued. "The awakened Sages will bind the evil forces and return light and peace to Hyrule. This legend, the legend of the temples, has been passed down by the Sheikah."
Natsu and Link stayed silent when Sheik began explaining the temples legend.
Sheik then looked at the sword in Link's hand. "I can see the resemblance between you and the Heroine of Time, Link, since you are holding the mystical and powerful Master Sword in your left hand. But because of this, you have no choice but to go and looked for the five temples."
Natsu turned his head towards Link's left hand and widened his eyes a bit from seeing a tall, beautiful sword. The sword had a bright, pure silver blade that was reflecting against the light in the stone chamber and had a triangle symbol engraved in the fuller. The cross-guard was blue and shaped like angel-wings, with a golden gem above the cross-guard. For the final part of the sword, the hilt had turquoise leather wrappings.
'Erza would love to have that blade.' Natsu thought, still staring at the Master Sword with wide eyes before turning back to Sheik.
"One Sage is waiting for you, Link and Natsu." Sheik suddenly said, making both Link and Natsu blink a couple times. How did Sheik know Natsu's name? "The Sage is waiting in the Forest Temple, ready to be awakening to take her place as one of the six Sages. The Sage is a girl I'm sure you know, Link."
'A girl?' Link thought with a frown. 'Who could be waiting for me and Natsu at the Forest Temple? This girl can be anyone…'
"Can you tell us who this Sage is?" Natsu asked Sheik, who turned to look at him. "Can you tell us the girl's name? I'm new to this Kingdom, so I don't know much about the history of Hyrule or the legend you just told us."
Sheik didn't say anything but merely observe Natsu with a sharp eye, which made the pink-hair uncomfortable. He did not like that look Sheik was giving him, it reminded him of a scary Erza.
Just when Natsu went to say something, Sheik finally said, "Alright, I will tell you both what the Sage's name is. The girl's name is Saria."
"Saria!" Link exclaimed, as memories of a young, green-hair girl with green eyes popped into her head and she bit her lip to keep the sudden tears from spilling out of her eyes. She had been so busy with her adventure that she didn't had time to think about her very first friend.
"Who's Saria?" Natsu asked.
"Saria was my childhood friend when I was a kid." Link replied, putting the Master Sword away so she can wipe her wet eyes. "We were the best of friends. We spent our time talking about the amazing things about the forest, combing each other's hair and danced together." A soft and fond smiled spread across Link's face as she recalled all the memories she had when growing up in the forest. Those memories will always be in her mind.
"Unfortunately for you, Link, there is no way you can enter the temple." Sheik said, bringing Natsu's and Link's attention to the crimson-eye woman.
"And why the hell not?" Link demanded, placing her hands on her hips and glared at Sheikah woman.
"Because you do not have the necessary equipment to even enter the temple." Sheik calmly replied, not effected by Link's glare. "The items you had when you were a kid no longer works, with the exception of a few, like bombs. Without getting the right item to enter the Forest Temple, Saria won't be able to take her place as a Sage. The evil power in the temple is preventing her to do so."
A large stream of curses were leaving under Link's breath and she turned away, so Sheik and Natsu couldn't see the depressed look on her face.
"How can we enter the temple?" Natsu asked Sheik, getting her attention once again. "You said something about an item, and that said item could be anywhere."
Natsu couldn't be sure at all, but he was sure that Sheik was smirking a bit under her mask. Something about the Sheikah woman made the pink-hair man intrigued, yet wary.
"In order to get the item, why don't you both head to Kakariko Village?" Sheik asked, making Natsu and Link greatly confused. Why do they need to go to Kakariko Village? "That way, you two can see what Hyrule looks like after seven years."
Natsu and Link looked at each other and nodded their heads.
"But be careful," Sheik warned, her voice serious. "When you step through those doors, you will no longer find Hyrule in the time of peace. You will find it in its darkest hour. Be careful and good luck."
Sheik pulled out a small, brown nut and threw it towards the ground, making it released a flash of bright light. Natsu and Link closed their eyes from the sudden brightness and when they looked up, Sheik was gone.
"How'd she do that?!" Natsu exclaimed, staring wide eye at the spot where Sheik vanished. "Is she a ninja?!"
"Well, I don't know what a ninja is," Link said, earning a horrified gasp from Natsu. "But yeah, she's like a ninja. The Sheikah Tribe uses Deku Nuts, the one Sheik just used, to blind their enemies so they can get behind them to attack."
"Cool!" Natsu loudly said, making Link giggle at Natsu's childish behavior. "Can we try it?"
"Maybe some other time." Link replied. "Right now, I want to head to Kakariko Village and get the item we're going to need. I need to save Saria."
"Hey, Link," Natsu said, getting Link's attention. "Can you tell me more about Hyrule and yourself as we walk to this village? If I'm going to figure out how to find my friends and get back home, I need to know much about this Kingdom as possible."
"Sure," Link answered, much to Natsu's happiness. "We'll leave in a few minutes. That should give your friend time to heal. Once he wakes up, we'll leave."
Natsu nodded and walked over to the sleeping Exceed, who was drooling in sleep.
'If I'm going to find a way to get back home and find my friends, I need to become serious and drop the child act.' Natsu thought, his face was serious. 'For too long, I have been acting like a child and it's time for me to become like an adult. I will make my Guild proud by acting like a mature person.'
Natsu then looked up towards the window. 'Gray. Lucy. Wendy. Carla. Erza. Don't worry, I will find you all and make sure you're safe.'
The adventure had just begun.
