As the large cloud of smoke cleared, Zamasu held Rikku and Trunks's barely alive bodies, completely unscathed from the attack. He then threw the 2 mortals to the ground, and as they struggled in pain, Zamasu laughed at them. Hearing this Trunks thought to himself,
'I can't believe it…they even outmatched Rikku! What on Earth are we supposed to do now?!"
Said saiyan woman then said to Zamasu through pained breath,
"So you really can't be hurt? That's completely unfair!"
"It may be unfair, but it was necessary to create a world without your kind."
Zamasu then floated into the air, and Goku was already charging a kamehameha. Zamasu, upon seeing thi, lifted his hand into the air and began charging a ki ball. As Rikku looked up at it in horror, Trunks could only weakly say,
"I-I'm sorry, Rikku. I gave it my all, but that wasn't enough to stop them!"
As the 2 saiyans were forced to look at their impending doom, Zamasu took the chance to mockingly say to them,
"I can tell, I'm going to be sleeping soundly tonight!"
Goku simply smirked. After all this waiting, he would finally get to kill the imposter that had stolen his life. The displaced saiyan yelled,
"This is it! Die, imposter!"
Before Goku could unleash the killing kamehameha however, a final flash suddenly came bursting forth and destroyed Zamasu's ki orb, causing Goku mto cease charging his kamehameha out of shock. The 2 villains landed on the ground, which was covered with smoke from the attack's explosion, and Zamasu angrily yelled,
"Alright, who did that?!"
Goku then looked over and saw Vegeta, back in super saiyan blue, panting as his arms were clearly in the final flash position. The saiyan prince then fell to the ground and reverted to base form, his energy spent. Goku remarked,
"Huh. Didn't know Vegeta had that much left in him."
Zamasu responded to his ally by saying,
"It appears the warrior race will refuse to relinquish the struggle right up until the bitter end."
Goku then looked at the smoke and realized to his anger that Rikku and Trunks were gone. He angrily said out loud,
"Dammit, they got away!"
Zamasu remarked in response,
"Well, they certainly don't have enough strength left to get very far, so they won't be hard to track down. We can worry about them after we take care of Vegeta."
"Fine."
Goku and Zamasu then walked up to Vegeta's unconscious body, while Pan watched from a safe distance. She then turned to her men, gesturing to them to follow her.
Rikku and Trunks were dragged across the ground by 2 unknown figures, who Trunks looked up to see. One of them was a boy in his preteens with shaggy black hair and wearing a gi identical to Rikku's except his had the kanji for Go on the back of it. Gosai. At least he was safe. The other one however, a chubby long haired ronin who was clearly in his late 60s to early 70's, was a shock to Trunks. Before he could get out his words, Rikku said them for him.
"Yaji…robe? How…?"
The chubby old ronin responded,
"Hey, don't go asking me how I'm alive! You're supposed to have been 6 feet under for almost 40 years now!"
"Where's…Vegeta…?"
Gosai answered for Yajirobe.
"There wasn't enough time to grab all 3 of you, and you 2 were the closest. Sorry, grandma Rikku."
"Grandma…Rikku?"
Rikku then noticed that the boy looked similar to Goten. She asked him curiously,
"Are you…?"
"Yeah, Goten…was my dad."
Rikku could clearly hear the sadness in Gosai's voice, and felt immense pity for him. No boy that young should have to grow up without a parent. It reminded her of when she had been forced to stay in the afterlife rather than raise her timeline's Goten after the cell games. The 4 eventually stopped in an alleyway, an exhausted Yajirobe resting on a piece of rubble. He told the 2 adult saiyans,
"The underground entrance is just up ahead, but I had to take a break. You guys are way too heavy to drag for this old geezer."
Gosai confidently responded to this by saying,
"I'll watch you guys until Mr Yajirobe can take you to-"
Before he could finish his sentence, Pan suddenly came in on a bike with Vegeta strewn behind her. She then said to Yajirobe,
"You're the one that saved them right? Thanks."
The chubby old ronin yelled at her in response,
"Don't scare me like that! You had me thinking that those freaky dudes had managed to catch up to us!"
Pan chuckled, but then noticed Gosai. She sternly asked him,
"What are you doing here? I told you to stay at the bunker."
"I couldn't just sit and watch while you and Uncle Trunks went to fight them alone! I…I didn't want to lose you like I lost him and mom."
Pan sighed upon hearing this and refocused on the task at hand, apologizing to Yajirobe and walking up to Trunks, who said to her,
"Oh good, you got father. I owe you."
"Don't worry about it."
She reached into Trunks's pocket and pulled out a capsule, which she threw on the ground to reveal the time machine. Both Gosai and Yajirobe were shocked at seeing it. Gosai had never seen the time machine before, and Yajirobe had no idea that Bulma had ever built a time machine.
Meanwhile, Goku and Zamasu were hovering above a city, searching for the heroes. Goku muttered,
"Damn it, how'd I let those guys distract me enough to get the imposters away?"
Zamasu replied,
"One more reason to loathe those mortals."
Goku began trying to sense the hero's ki signatures, but they were so low that it was impossible for him to get a lock. In addition, the energy of the others were getting in the way. Speaking of said others, as Pan, who had gotten Rikku, Vegeta and Trunks into the time machine, was setting the controls, Yajirobe asked her,
"So are you guys going into space for something?"
Pan ignored him and continued readying the time machine. As it whirred to life, Pan suddenly leaped out of it as the top lid shut. Shocked, Trunks put his hands to the glass and yelled at her to wait. It was too late however, as the time machine began preparing to lift off. Trunks begged Pan to come with them, but she simply smiled at him as Gosai and Yajirobe looked on in awe.
As Trunks continued to bang on the glass, Pan mentally said,
'I'm staying here with the others. No matter what, you have to get through this, Trunks. For all of our sakes.'
And Trunks let out a final shout of no, the time machine rocketed into the air, catching the attention of Goku and Zamasu.
"Over there!"
"You won't get away!"
They teleported in front of the time machine, but before they could attack it, it vanished into thin air. Goku muttered under his breath,
"Damn it all…"
Zamasu said to him in response,
"Well, no matter.they will be back again. And when they come, we will deal with them in our own utopia."
Goku was getting tired of all of Zamasu's utopia talk, but simply nodded. His accomplice was probably right. They would be back. And when they came back…Rikku wouldn't escape.
