Yuu's act of Kindness: Pt1
The worried Blacksmith
-Monster Village-
It was another day at the village as Yuu walked around, looking for anyone that needed help.
Yuu then noticed Hoof the Blacksmith pacing around as she had a troubled look.
Hoof: Hmmm, this is a problem.
Yuu: Miss Blacksmith, did something happened?
Hoof turned around and was surprised to see Yuu approaching her.
Hoof: Oh, young lady. I'm just having a little trouble is all. I was preparing the hearth to forge some weapons, but the flame went out. Without the proper heat, my weapons won't be sturdy. I need completely dried firewood, but… The Village Storehouse ran out. I'll have to venture into the forest to gather some…
Yuu: Can I help?
Hoof turned to look at Yuu and saw that she was eager to lend a hand.
Hoof: Oh, young lady, would you be interested in going into the woods to fetch three bundles of firewood for a reward?
Yuu: You got yourself a deal! Three bundles of firewood, right?
Hoof nodded before telling Yuu something she needs to know about the wood she's tasked to find.
Hoof: There's a mischievous Monster that carries the hardwood I'm looking for. Shouldn't be difficult to spot. It won't take much to scare it off and make it drop the wood. I really appreciate the help.
With that, Yuu left in search of Drywood
-Hillside Mountain-
At the foot of Hillside Mountain, Yuu starts searching for the Monster that holds the Drywood, until she crosses her arms and realizes that the Blacksmith didn't tell her what Monster is.
Yuu: What Monster holds the wood Miss Blacksmith needs?
Yuu then recalled in one of her lectures about Monsters, one of them collects Drywood.
Yuu: I got it! Raccoons collect Drywood for their nest!
With that, Yuu has an idea on how to get Drywood from the Raccoons. It wasn't long until she found a group of Raccoons, collecting Drywood for their nest.
Yuu: Alright, here we go.
Yuu silently ignited her sword(with the help of the Dragon King) and threw it in the middle of the group. When the Raccoons noticed the fire, they immediately panicked and ran away. Yuu quickly went and picked up her sword before it could set something else on fire. She then went to collect the Drywood, but not before leaving something behind.
A moment later, the Raccoons came back, and they were confused when they saw a couple of Power Fruits near what's left of the Drywood they collected, along with a message on a stick saying…
"Sorry for scaring you. Here some Power Fruits for the wood"
-Monster Village-
Yuu returned to the village and went to the Blacksmith with a bundle of Drywood in her hands.
Hoof: Oh, young lady. That was quick.
Yuu: Look, Miss Blacksmith. I brought Drywood just like I said!
Yuu showed the Blacksmith the three bundles of Dry Wood to her.
Hoof: Ah, you've brought three bundles of Dry Wood. Thank you! Here 's your reward. Please, take it.
Hoof took Yuu's hand and put a gauntlet with bronze highlights on her arm. Yuu looked curiously at the gauntlet.
Yuu: What is it?
Hoof: It's a Hunter 's Gauntlet. It increases the strength in your arm, allowing you to deal more powerful strikes with your sword.
Yuu: Really?
Yuu brought her gauntlet in the air as she looked at it fascinated.
Hoof: I truly am sorry for making you do this for me out of the blue, young lady.
Yuu only shook her head at that.
Yuu: It was nothing! I'm helping others who are in need right now. So if you ever run into trouble again, just let me know.
Hoof: What a wonderful girl.
The Blacksmith then had a thought.
Hoof: Oh, yes. That reminds me. Idea is an inventor who lives nearby. He seemed to be having trouble with something or other. As intelligent as he is, he has a habit of overthinking things. If you have a moment to spare, would you help him? He's a bit eccentric, but he has a good heart.
Yuu: Okay, I will help him! I'm here to help!
Hoof was grateful at Yuu's desire to help others.
Hoof: I'll leave him to you.
With that, Yuu continued on, going to help more Monsters on the road.
The Mischievous Wildcat
-Monster Village-
It was another day at the village as Yuu walked around, looking for anyone that needed help.
She then heard shouts of frustration coming from an elegant tent, which is the Monster's version of a mansion.
It came from a female Sheap. She has a pink wool collar around her neck, and one at the tuft of her hair. She has 4 horns instead of 2. The 2 extra horns curl down a little on the sides of her head, and have 2 golden rings hanging on them like accessories.
And she was currently ranting as she was passing up and down.
Goldie: Is she the one behind this!? Enough is enough! Look at all the trouble she's causing!
Yuu stood there watching as the Sheap continued ranting.
Goldie: How many times do I have to tell her!? Wildcat!? Wildcat! Where did Wildcat go!?
At that, Yuu knew she can't just stand there so she went to check on the Sheap.
Yuu: Whoa! Huh? What 's wrong?
The Sheap turned around once she noticed Yuu was talking to her.
Goldie: Who are you? I'm not a Street Performer, you know?
But then she was taken aback when she noticed the girl speaking to her isn't a Monster.
Goldie: Wait, hold on… What is a Human girl doing in a place like this!?
Yuu scratched her cheek, a little surprised that not all the Monsters know about her. The Sheap also realized she was yelling so she composed herself.
Goldie: A-Ahem… I haven't seen you around these parts before, little girl. What 's your name?
Yuu: I- I'm Yuu! And, um, you are?
The Sheap recognize the name of the adopted Human daughter of the Dragon King.
Goldie: Listen carefully, little girl. There isn't a soul in this village who doesn't know who I am. I am Madame Goldie, the one and only proprietress of the Sheap Family.
Madame Goldie flicked her hair to show how fabulous she is.
Goldie: You do well to remember it, and never forget.
Yuu: Okay, I'll do that. Madam Goldie. Memorized!
Madame Goldie saw how polite Yuu is.
Goldie: Well, aren't you earnest. Call me Madam from now on. You understand?
Yuu nodded at her.
Yuu: I understand, Madam!
Goldie: Mind you, I'm a very busy woman. There is a child I must find at all costs.
Yuu learned that that child must be the reason why the Madam was so upset.
Yuu: Is something bothering you, Madam?
Goldie: My, how perceptive. I like that. A keen intuition is a good quality. Yes, something is troubling me.
Hearing that, Yuu said her familiar words.
Yuu: I can help you! I'm lending those in need a helping hand.
The Madam became impressed at Yuu's eagerness to help.
Goldie: To think there are children like you in this day and age. Hm… Well, I don't see why not. Find me a child named Wildcat, of the Sheap Tribe. She's a problematic one.
The image of the Sheap girl came to mind as she just sawed one of the stool's legs off. Then a Lizzerd came to sit on it, only for the stool's leg to break and the Lizzerd fell down the floor.
Goldie: She's a hopeless tomboy who revels in making mischief. She needs someone to entertain her.
The image then showed the Sheap girl hiding in the bushes of the village.
Goldie: After her misdeeds, she always hides somewhere in the village, waiting for the perfect moment to strike again. Tell me, Yuu, what are you supposed to do after doing something naughty?
Yuu thought about it and knew exactly what she would say if she did something bad.
Yuu: Um, I'd probably apologize to everyone involved.
Goldie: Exactly! You're such a good girl. Wildcat did something bad, and now she must apologize.
She pointed her hoof at a certain direction where Wildcat is supposed to be.
Goldie: She's out playing hide-and-seek. I want you to find her and tell her something for me. "Madam is waiting at the mansion. If you don't hurry back, you're going to the reflection room."
Yuu tilted her head when she heard that.
Yuu: Reflection Room?
Goldie: Yes. It's a room she cannot leave until she feels the consequences of her actions. It is only natural, no?
Yuu: Y-Yeah!
Though Yuu doesn't want to see what the Reflection Room really looks like.
Yuu: Okay then! So I've gotta find the Sheap girl and give her your message, right? I got this!
Goldie: Heh, how very dependable. I'm counting on you.
With that, Yuu began searching for the mischievous Sheap girl, Wildcat.
Yuu's search took her around a part of the village, where she noticed a few things on the way.
A lizzerd was standing with difficulty as he was holding his hurt back while angrily holding the cut off stool with his other hand.
One was a female Krow as she was crying because her beautiful black plumage is covered in white paint from the head down.
Lastly, there were 2 Wolp guards arguing with one another… with their red hot tongues hanging from their mouths, accusing each other of putting spicy pepper in their food.
As she continued searching, Yuu wondered to herself, if she was in trouble, where would she hide?
At that moment, Yuu remembered something.
-Flashback-
-Outside Dragon King's Den, Hillside Mountain-
Outside the entrance of the cave, Yuu was hiding behind some rocks, as she was currently hiding from her Dad because of what she did.
Dragon King: Yuu!
Yuu flinched when she heard her Dad's voice, the Dragon King excited the cave as he looked for Yuu.
Dragon King: I'm not mad at you, Yuu. But you need to apologize to Kiki for throwing that ball at him.
Yuu knew her Dad was right. Yuu was playing with her ball inside the cave, until she threw the ball too hard and hit Kiki, which hurt the little Monster a lot due to his small size.
Yuu came out of hiding and walked to the Dragon King, trying to come up with something to say before speaking.
Yuu: I'm… sorry…
Dragon King: I know it was an accident, but you need to let Kiki know that you're sorry. It's the right thing to do.
Yuu nodded as she understood. She then followed the Dragon King back inside the cave.
-End of Flashback-
Yuu now realized that Wildcat must be somewhere a little far from the village. She went north and reached the gate with the path that goes to Crystal Moon Hill. She checked the bushes and just as she thought, she found Wildcat.
She is a young Sheap with small horns and an orange scarf wrapped around her neck. She seems to be the same age as Yuu.
Yuu slowly walked towards Wildcat, who was cooking up in her mind her next scheme with a contained laugh, until Yuu tapped her shoulder.
Yuu: Found you, Wildcat!
Wildcat's hair stands on end in surprise before calming down with a sigh.
Wildcat: Aw, drat. I've been made. I thought I'd never be found here.
But when she turned around, she was surprised to see, not a Sheap, or any Monster, but a Human girl her age.
Wildcat: Wait, who the heck are you? And how do you know who I am?
Yuu: Madam asked me to find you so I can deliver a message to you.
Wildcat frowned when she heard about the Madam.
Wildcat: Ew! You're Madam's errand girl!? So? Who are you? Never seen you before!
Yuu: I'm Yuu! It's nice to meet you!
Yuu stretched out her hand to greet her, but Wildcat only rolled her eyes at this.
Wildcat: Psh! "Nice to meet you" she says. Speak for yourself! Anyway… What does Madame want now?
Yuu: Oh right.
Yuu recalled the message Madame Goldie wanted to give.
Yuu: "Madam is waiting at the mansion. If you don't hurry back, you're going to the Reflection Room."
This sent Wildcat into a panic when the Reflection Room was mentioned.
Wildcat: Gah! The Reflection Room!? Anything but that!
Wildcat walked around in panic before angrily facing Yuu.
Wildcat: Fine, I get the picture! I'm going home!
Yuu: I hope you'll apologize for what you did.
However, Wildcat only scoffed at this.
Wildcat: Hmph! You're a cheeky one. You don't even know what you're talking about, you goody two-shoes.
Yuu: Didn't you do something bad?
Wildcat only laughed at that as puffed her chest, before angrily pointed a hoof-finger at Yuu.
Wildcat: Hah. I'm a saint compared to the adults and all their knavery. Where do you get off bossing me around, you jerk! You JERK!
Yuu was taken aback when Wildcat called her a jerk, twice.
Wildcat: Wait, I don't have time for this. I've gotta get back to Madam's…
She faced Yuu again, who's still affected by Wildcat's words.
Wildcat: Well, I probably won't ever see you again, so thanks I guess for giving me Madame's message. Bye.
Wildcat then went back towards the village, leaving Yuu alone.
Yuu: She said I was a jerk… Twice…
Yuu was really hurt by Wildcat's words as slowly went back to the village.
Yuu went back to the village and headed towards the Madam's home, where Madam Goldie noticed her.
Goldie: Oh! How are things, Yuu? I have to thank you. She finally returned.
Seeing her brought Yuu back to her cheerful self.
Yuu: Madam! Hi there!
Goldie: You delivered my message word for word. It was a tremendous help. Please, take this as a reward.
Goldie put something around Yuu's neck, it had a yellow gem on it.
Yuu: What is this, Madam?
Goldie: It's a Chilled Amulet. It's very rare and it has the magical property of protecting the wearer from any kind of cold.
Yuu was awed at that. Now she can go to Moon Hill Crystal without worrying of feeling the cold at all.
Yuu: Thank you, Madam.
Goldie turned towards her mansion, thinking about the problem child.
Goldie: Still, Wildcat doesn't feel truly accountable for her actions. Always the troublemaker, that one. If you see Wildcat again, you would be an excellent role model. She needs someone to play with too.
Yuu will be glad to try and be Wildcat's friend, despite being called a jerk by her.
Yuu: You got it, Madam!
Watching from the window in the mansion was Wildcat. She watched the interaction between Yuu and Madam Godlie and heard everything she said.
A Gourmand's Dream
-Monster Village-
It was another day at the village as Yuu walked around, looking for anyone that needed help. Her eye then caught something as she saw a Monster sitting on a chair, and by the looks of it he was sleeping.
He was an old Lizzerd wearing a purple drape wrapped around his neck. Oddly, he has purple eyeshadow and a pink blush. There's a large spot starting from his belly and all the way down his tail, where the tip is red.
She approached the sleeping Monster, until he woke up as he smelled something in the air.
Old Lizzerd: Oh my, something smells wonderfully delicious in here… Doesn't it?
He eyed Yuu, who was looking confused at what the old Lizzerd said.
Yuu: Hm? Delicious?
Yuu looked around as she tried to find what he was smelling, but found nothing but fresh air.
Yuu: Does it really?
The old Lizzerd nodded at her.
Old Lizzerd: I'm starving, so this is just my luck! Regrettably, I am movement impaired. Well, except for my tail.
He raised his tail to show it to Yuu.
Old Lizzerd: I'm in the mood for a grand feast, and then a lovely nap will do nicely. But I shouldn't let my meal spoil!
He then wrapped her tail around Yuu, surprising Yuu as she was lifted towards his face.
Old Lizzerd: Now then, little Human, I'll start by chomping your head, then a little nibble here and there…
Yuu was shocked to hear that.
Yuu: Hey! Are you trying to eat me!?
Old Lizzerd: Well, if you insist! Bon appetit! Aaah!
The old Lizzerd opened his maw wide. Despite his age the row of fangs on his mouth are still strong and sharp.
Yuu: Ghaaah! Whyyy!?
Yuu's head was now between the old Lizzerd's jaws, but right before they closed around her, a young Hejhog with a yellow scarf came running.
Young Hejhog: Whoa! Stop it, stop it! Nathan!
Nathan, the old Lizzerd, took Yuu out of his jaws with disappointment as he looked at the young Hejgog that stopped him.
Nathan: Come on, don't get all sour. Harry, you're hungry too, right? I don't mind sharing at all…
Harry, however, wasn't buying it.
Harry: Goodness, Nathan, would you cut it out?
The old Lizzerd sighed at this as he gave in.
Nathan: Okay, okay! I'll desist, if you insist!
Nathan lowered Yuu back to the floor and let go of her.
Harry: I apologize for that. I'm Harry of the Hejhog Tribe.
He then gestured towards Nathan.
Harry: And this is Nathan of the Lizzerd Tribe. Pleased to make your acquaintance.
Yuu: Y-Yeah… It's nice to meet you too, I'm Yuu.
Yuu was recovering from the shock of nearly being eaten.
Harry: Nathan is… Well, he loves teasing children, but I don't let him eat them, so I hope you'll forgive him.
Yuu: Y-Yeah, okay… I forgive him.
Yuu sweatdropped as she wasn't now sure if Nathan really was going to eat her or not. The old Lizzerd was currently smelling the air again.
Nathan: Hm, an exquisite odor wafts through the air…
Harry: Oh, knock it off, Nathan! Enough with your tomfoolery! Really now, I can never tell when you're joking or not. It's such a bad habit of yours, Nathan.
Nathan groaned as he rubbed his belly with his tail.
Nathan: Urgh… It's just because I've become so terribly, terribly hungry. If something that delicious strolled up to you, would YOU be able to resist indulging in a tiny nibble?
Harry was getting really annoyed now.
Harry: Na-th-an! That's not okay! You'll really make me upset! Apologize to her at once!
Nathan: Fiiine! I beg your pardon, little miss. You're not a tasty snack.
Yuu, always the kind girl, accepted his forgiveness.
Yuu: It's okay. I forgive you.
Nathan: Well, thank you, little miss. Ah, but if I don't eat something soon, I'll surely starve!
Harry tried to think of a way to solve this.
Harry: Hm… In that case, Nathan, you'll need to find something to eat. Something you truly desire. You are a Gourmand after all. What is it that you want to eat?
Nathan: I suppose you're right… As you say, Harry. Then I want to eat something exceptionally haute! It 's my dream!
Yuu: Exceptionally haute?
Yuu tilted her head as she didn't understand those complicated words.
Nathan: Yes! Something very rare… a once-in-a-lifetime treat! First, I'll need an appetizer concocted of rare ingredients. What's the culinary trend here, again? Do you happen to know, Harry?
Harry tried to think of anything he heard in the village.
Harry: Hm, I wonder… I do hear things from time to time, but…
Suddenly, Harry recalled something that happened a while ago.
Harry: Come to think of it, the Peddler, Petra, said she'd bring Rock Chocolate the next time she comes to town. There's no doubt that it must be the biggest craze in town. Well, probably.
Nathan's eyes widened when he heard Rock Chocolate.
Nathan: R-Rock Chocolate? No way! Oh my gosh! It's really Rock Chocolate!? Truly? I've always wanted to eat it!
Yuu took that as her cue as she stepped in.
Yuu: Then I'll go buy you some! I'm helping anyone who's in need.
Nathan was surprised to hear this from a child he almost ate.
Nathan: Oh my, so there are kind Humans. Helping me when you should be pleading for your life… What an unusual child.
Harry: Na-th-an?
Harry's eyes told Nathan to not go any further.
Nathan: Oh my gosh! Me and my mouth. I just can't help sometimes. Ah! I've just thought up a great idea. If you buy me Rock Chocolate from Petra, then I, Nathan, will give you a re-wa-rd, little miss~.
Yuu: You got it! I'll go to Petra and buy Rock Chocolate from her. I'll bring it back, so just you wait!
Nathan: Ah, my beloved Rock Chocolate… I can hardly contain myself…
As Nathan was lost in his thoughts about Rock Chocolate, Harry turned to Yuu.
Harry: I'm sorry to bother you with this errand. I'd go if I could, but I can't leave Nathan alone…
Yuu: That 's okay! I'm here to help!
Harry was grateful at Yuu's kindness.
Harry: Okay, speak to Petra about Rock Chocolate. I believe she can help you find it. I'm counting on you.
In the middle of the village, Yuu found Petra as she always put her shop there.
Yuu: Hi, Miss Petra!
Petra the Hejhog turned to Yuu and was happy to see her.
Petra: Hi, Yuu! What can I do for you today?
The two knew each other since Petra sometimes comes to the mountain to sell stuff to the Dragon King and his workers.
Yuu: I'm here to ask about Rock Chocolate!
That changed Petra's expresion, but Yuu don't know why.
Petra: You want to know about Rock Chocolate?
Yuu: Yup. I heard from Harry that you'd have one next time you came to town, Miss Petra.
Petra: Yes, I did indeed bring Rock Chocolate with me to sell, but…
Petra was hesitant for a moment, before deciding to come out with it and tell Yuu.
Petra: On the way here, I was attacked by a vicious Monster. Because of that, I dropped it in the forest somewhere.
Yuu was shocked to hear that as she looked around Petra in worry.
Yuu: What!? Are you okay?
Petra was touched that Yuu worries about her.
Petra: Yes, I'm fine. This happens quite often in my line of work. I'm used to it. I know how to stay out of trouble.
Yuu sighed in relief.
Yuu: Phew, that's good to hear– But what should I do now? Nathan is waiting for me to bring the Rock Chocolate to him.
Petra: You were running an errand for Nathan? My, now I feel bad for all this. Well, it was quite popular, so it'd be a waste to leave it lying around the forest. Oh, I know, dear patron. I won't be going back for it anytime soon. If you find it somehow, then you can keep it.
That brought Yuu's head up.
Yuu: Really? Are you sure?
Petra: Of course. I hope it'll satisfy Nathan. In return, if you ever need something, I'd be happy if you peruse my wares on occasion.
Yuu: Thank you, Miss Petra! I'll definitely visit you again sometime.
Petra chuckled at Yuu being so formal with someone like her.
Petra: Please, no need for the formalities. Just call me Petra.
Yuu: Okay, Petra! Then just call me Yuu as well. Also, let me know if you ever run into trouble, Petra. I'm helping anyone who needs it.
Petra: Ah, how wonderful, Yuu. I'll be cheering you on. I just might take you up on that offer. Now be careful out there. I wish you the best to find it.
Yuu then went up ahead and excited the village.
-Hillside Mountain-
Yuu was walking around the forest, searching for the Rock Chocolate.
Yuu: According to Greta, this is the path she always take to go and bring the products she's selling. Suddenly, Yuu noticed footprints along the path that heads inside the forest.
Yuu: Hm? This is...
Yuu began following the path and it wasn't long till she reached a place that she heard off from Mr. O'Hare.
Yuu: Rouge Connie Village…
-Rouge Connie Village, Hillside Mountain-
There are some Monsters who don't follow the Dragon King despite fearing him, but some of them are allowed to live in the forest as long as they stand distance from the villages of the good Monsters. Rouge Connie Village is the home of a few Connie Tribes that didn't choose to be subjects of the Dragon King.
Carefully, Yuu sneaked inside the village, where a lot of Rabbitrousers are walking around. Yuu passed the tents as they hid behind them. Yuu then noticed something that caught her attention.
Sitting on a cut tree trunk, Yuu saw a brown box there.
Yuu: That must be the box holding the Rock Chocolate.
Now Yuu needed to get it without being noticed.
Yuu then moved quietly through the village, making sure the Rabbitrousers didn't notice her. Then at last, she was behind the trunk where the box holding the Rock Chocolate is. She grabbed the box and silently cheered at managing to get it. But just when Yuu was about to leave…
SNAP!
Yuu stepped on a twig, which alerted all the Rabbitrousers as they looked at Yuu, holding the box.
Yuu: Uh oh…
-Hillside Mountain-
Yuu was currently running from the Rabbitrouser's, with their carrots in the air as they threw some at her while chasing hwr. Yuu then came to a dead end and now she was cornered.
Turning around, the Rouge Connie Tribe had her surrounded. Knowing she had no other choice, Yuu took out her wooden sword, ready to fight. The Rabbitrouser's were about to attack… until their eyes caughts something above a cliff that's behind Yuu.
It was the Dragon King, glaring at them as he was breathing out fire from his nostrils. The Rouge Connie Tribe froze. Despite not following the Dragon King, they are still afraid of him, so they quickly turned around and ran, leaving a confused Yuu.
Yuu: Huh?
Yuu was confused at what just happened, until Yuu turned around to look up at the cliff… but there was no one there.
-Monster Village-
With the brown box holding the Rock Chocolate now in her hands, Yuu went back to Nathan and Harry.
Yuu: Nathan! Harry! I found the Rock Chocolate!
That caught Nathan and Harry's attention as Yuu presented the box to them. She opened it and inside was a brown rock, but held the delightful smell of chocolate sweetness.
Nathan was starry eyed when he saw the confection.
Nathan: Oh my! This Rock Chocolate is the realy dealy! I can't believe you actually brought it for me!
Harry tilted his head as he looked at the Rock Chocolate.
Harry: So this is the Rock Chocolate? It's the first time I've seen it. Though it looks like any old rock…
Nathan looked at Harry with a "you're kidding" look.
Nathan: What are you saying!? This scent!
The old Lizzerd breathen in the scent of chocolate, and started to drool a little.
Nathan: This is an exquisite chocolate! Ugh, I can't bear it anymore! I'm digging in!
He quickly grabbed the Rock Chocolate from the box, but before he could dig in he looked at Yuu and Harry.
Nathan: C'mon, you two! Have some! It's not every day we get a chance like this!
Yuu and Harry were surprised that he was going to share.
Yuu: Huh!? Really? Are you sure?
Nathan nodded as he broke the Rock Chocolate into pieces, and gave eache Piece to Yuu and Harry.
Yuu: Yay! Thank you.
Nathan: Well then, time to eat!
The three then ate their piece of the Rock Chocolate at the same time. While it was delicious, Yuu and Harry had trouble chewing on it, but Nathan wasn't having such troubles.
Harry: S-So hard…
Nathan: Mmm~. Aaah, it 's sooo goood! De-licious!
Nathan swallowed the Rock Chocolate with joy as he was still savoring it.
Nathan: I can't believe how good it is! Sweet, savory – a symphony of flavor! I can just melt! I can't get enough! Young or old, sweets always soothe the heart. Aaah, I feel life coming back to me again.
Yuu swallowed the hard Rock Chocolate, before becoming confused at what Nathan just said.
Yuu: Hm? What do you mean "coming back"...?
Nathan: Oh, you know, I could die at any moment now.
Yuu: !
Yuu's face became white when she heard that, before becomig very sad.
Yuu: No…
Harry was silent as he too was sad.
Nathan: I can't move about like I used to. I'm stuck right here in this chair. I'm weary and I'm bored.
Yuu: Nathan…
Harry kept his silence as he watch Yuu being very sad. Nathan notice this too and he didn't want the little girl to be sad.
Nathan: Hey, hey! What's the matter? Don't get all gloomy on me, okay? I've lived long enough~. I've got no regrets. This happens to everyone. Well, I don't mean to scare you. Just think of it as a deep sleep. That's all. It. Is. But listen to me.
Yuu looked at Nathan in the eye with her sad ones.
Nathan: Until I pass on, I want to keep eating as many rare and tasty foods I can get my hands on~. That's why, little miss, I need another favor. Would you mind humoring an old Lizzerd's wishes?
Yuu felt tears coming from her eyes until she rubbed them away, before looking back at Nathan with a smile.
Yuu: Of… Of course! Leave everything to me! I'll bring you whatever you want!
Nathan was touched by the young Human kindness. Even Harry was happy.
Nathan: Oh, little miss, I am in your debt. I'll be counting on you when I hunger again.
Nathan then remembered something as he took out something with his tail.
Nathan: Oh, right. Here's your reward for my last meal – for doing all that to feed me. Nathan is very pleased~.
Nathan gave Yuu a ring that has a blue gem on it.
Nathan: That is a Defense ring. It will increase your durability.
Yuu: Thanks, Nathan! Let me know when you're hungry again!
Yuu can't wait to have more delicious food with Nathan.
Genius Extraordinaire
-Monster Village-
It was another day at the village as Yuu walked around, looking for anyone that needed help. She then caught sight of someone that looked her age walking up and down.
He was a young Crocodile-like Lizzerd with an orange scarf, goggles, and has star-like eyes.
Yuu recognized the young Lizzard as Idea, the inventor Hoof told her about that needed help, and he sure looked like he needed help as he was muttering around.
Idea: Goodness, this is no good. Yes, the solution to this conundrum evaded me.
Yuu: Hi there! I'm Yuu. Are you Mister Idea, the inventor?
Idea turned around and was surprised to see a young Human girl here in a village of Monsters.
Idea: Hm? Well now, isn't this a rare sight. Indeed, it is I, Idea, inventor extraordinaire!
Yuu: Um, then are you in trou–
Idea suddenly interrupted her.
Idea: Now, what business do you have with the one-and-only Idea?
Yuu: Well… I heard from the Blacksmith that the, um… "genius" inventor might need some help?
Hearing that, Idea became distressed again.
Idea: Quite right! I've got a complete disaster on my hands, you see. I'm reduced to grasping at straws.
Yuu: What's troubling you so much?
Idea: Why, this slump!
Yuu tilted her head, not quite getting it.
Yuu: Slump?
Idea: Yes, yes! No matter what invention I fabricated, all of them are so terribly unremarkable! This has never happened before! I must be free of this, lest I lose my credibility as an inventor!
Yuu: What caused it?
Idea then looked at Yuu happily, glad that he asked her that.
Idea: Why, I'm pleased you asked! You see, my Grandfather was the first genius inventor among Monsters. I inherited a heirloom of his– a priceless tool. And then SNAP… it was broken, you see.
He then showed Yuu the tool, which is something that Yuu has never seen before, but she noticed that a certain part can be removed.
Yuu: What is it?
Idea: It's 'the' Energy Tool! My Grandfather powers it using the energy of certain electric creatures, and the part is interchangeable, which I can use for drilling, sawing, or any other stuff! But… that ended when it broke…
Yuu: Wow…
Yuu was awed that such a tool can do so much.
Idea: And ever since, nothing I've created has given me the thrill, the chill, the will to continue inventing! By golly, you may as well save me from humiliation and cut the "genius" from my "genius inventor" appellation. Have you not ever witnessed such a tragic tribulation as this?
Yuu: Can you fix your Grandfather's tool?
Idea sadly shook his head at that.
Idea: My Grandfather was a genius without rival, but he had his flaws, you see. He scarcely scribbled a single note on the materials he used for his inventions, you see. Hence, it is impossible to know what material could be utilized to replace the broken part, you see…
Yuu tried to think what she can do to help Idea… until she had an idea.
Yuu: Well how about I gather a bunch of different materials for you? Then you could see what sticks!
Idea thought about it.
Idea: Why, what a compelling proposition! I shan't attempt to replicate my Grandfather's tool, but create my own!
Idea then went inside his workshop as he grabbed other materials there.
Idea: By all means, go forth! I eagerly await your return, you see. A wonderful postulation! Such innovation!
Yuu: Okay, you got it! Wait here and I'll find you something to work with!
Idea head then poked out of the workshop.
Idea: If possible, it would be incredibly helpful if you were to find some Fireproof Material, you see.
Yuu: All right! Just leave it to me!
Idea: There's a Monster in the woods that hides materials in treasure chest. You could find those chests… Get me some interesting materials, and this genius extraordinaire will work his magic, you see! Godspeed.
Yuu nodded as she left, leaving Idea alone with his thoughts again.
Idea: Hm… Yes… Perhaps that is why I could never surpass my Grandfather. But that will change! I am a genius!
-Hillside Mountain-
Yuu began searching for the chest that holds the Fireproof Material Idea wanted. From the things she learned, the Monsters placed the chests somewhere in these parts of the woods. Yuu didn't know why though. What she didn't know was that someone was watching her, from different parts of the bushes.
At the end, Yuu found a pile of chests.
Yuu: There it is!
Yuu immediately searched through the chests and quickly found the Fireproof Material. Yuu put the chest with the materials in her magic bag so it would be easy to bring it to the Monster Village.
Yuu: Okay, now to bring this to Idea so… huh?
Yuu (and The Dragon King) was surprised to see that she was completely surrounded! The Monsters surrounding Yuu look like Mosstoads, but they're purple instead of green, and replacing the leaves on top of their heads is a large red mushroom. They're eyes also look dizzy.
Yuu: Toxic Toads…
Yuu whispered silently. She knew that these members of the Froag Tribe are poisonous because of the toxic mushroom on their heads, and that poison is absorbed around their bodies, and they can use it to poison anyone that threatens them by licking them… their mushrooms are also a delicacy.
Now Yuu knows why the Monsters hid their chests here. She knew she had to be careful not to get licked or she'd get poisoned. But can't ignore them either since the Froag Tribe doesn't like being ignored. But then Yuu had an idea.
Yuu: I hope I have enough.
Yuu pulled something from her bag and threw them in different directions. They were Power Fruits, and that caught the attention of the Toxic Toads as they went after them. Yuu moved on ahead while they're distracted, throwing more Power Fruits until she managed to exit their territory. She ran away in a hurry back to the Monster Village(while the Dragon King sighed in relief).
-Monster Village-
Yuu arrived back at the village and went towards the inventor, who was still passing around as he waited for Yuu.
Yuu: Idea! I found the materials you asked for!
Yuu gave Idea the chest. His eyes sparkled even more when he opened up the chest.
Idea: Goodness! I've never seen such a strange, incombustible material quite like this before!
Suddenly, something inside Idea's mind started to work, as if the gears in his head finally started shifting after a while.
Idea: Hmmm… I've been inspired! The gears in my head are turning, churning out new ideas, you see. My heart is beating faster than I can think! Now without further ado!
He quickly went inside his workshop as Yuu watched, giving Idea his space as she started to hear many sounds coming from inside the workshop.
Idea: Insert this into the damaged part in the socket, pass it through here, then plug it into this! To regulate the balance, I'll adjust the latch… and then…!
This was going on for awhile as Yuu patiently waited.
Idea: And presto! It's finished!
Yuu saw Idea come out of the workshop with a new tool that has his color.
Idea: I've done it, you see!
Yuu: I haven't asked; what is it called?
Idea: It's called… a Spin Driller!
Idea pressed a button on the handle and the removable part started spinning around while making a whirring sound, leaving her awed.
Idea: Quickly now, let's run some tests! And with the remaining materials, I'll create an accessory for my lovely benefactor, Miss Yuu!
Yuu was surprised to hear that.
Yuu: Huh? Are you sure!?
Idea: Yes, I, genius extraordinaire, will make you an accessory that will make all others look like toys!
Yuu: Th-Thanks! I wonder what it'll be, I can't wait!
Idea went back inside his workshop and started working. Yuu could hear the sound of the Spin Driller inside. It didn't take too long as Idea came with his invention in hand.
Idea: I present to you… the Smart Glasses!
In his hands is what looks like a metallic headband designed to be comfortable for the wearer. Attached to it is what looked like a magnifying glass, along with smaller ones too.
Idea: Now, look here! This accessory is going to amplify Miss Yuu's abilities. It's quite simple really, we'll start here.
Idea then started strapping the invention on Yuu's head.
Idea: This is where my genius comes in. A little embellishment never hurt! A swishy swish swish… Some finishing touches, and a biiig squeeze! And… Done! How does it feel?
Somehow, Yuu started to feel energy coursing through her body.
Yuu: Wow! It's amazing! I can feel the energy inside me! You really are a genius, Idea! You made this so fast!
Idea: Of course I am! T'was a trivial task for my intellect, you see.
Yuu: What about your slump, Idea? Is it gone?
Idea: Indeed it is! It was your assistance, your advice, and of course, your kindness that paved the way.
The little girl smiled, glad that she was able to help.
Yuu: It's just my job! I'm trying to help whoever's in need of it! I'm glad I was able to help, Idea! Let me know if you need me again.
Idea: My, how noble of you! It's so touching, I'm at a loss for words, you see. You may also come to me whenever you find yourself in a twist helping others. There are no limits to the extent of my genius, you see.
Yuu's eyes turned into stars, just like Idea.
Yuu: Whoa! Really? That's comforting to know! Thanks, Idea!
Idea: Think nothing of it, it's only fair. Do return to me with any problem that requires my intellect, you see.
With that Idea went back inside his workshop to invent new things. Yuu started heading home, wanting to show her Dad the invention Idea gave him.
BOOM!
Yuu jumped in surprise as she and some of the villagers looked at the smoke coming from Idea's workshop.
Idea: It's okay! Failure is another way to success!
