Chapter 3
Aria's POV
It's almost dark by the time we get to mako and pull up the boat. I look around curiously "come on Let's go this way" Haley says and I feel a not in my stomach as she starts pulling me into the trees. We walk around in the trees for a while before walking into a rocky area. "Watch your step" Haley says as she jumps over a fissure in the rocky surface, I follow her example but when I land I stumble a bit and trip over something.
Before I can catch my balance me feet slide out from under me and I fall down a naturally formed slide in the rock "ahh" I yell then stop as I get to the bottom and slide into a wall, a sharp rock scratches at my right side and I wince, I feel a small drop of something warm slowly tricking down my side. I start to calm down again as I realize it's only a slight scratch just deep enough to draw a drop of blood. Then groan as the not in my chest from earlier makes me feel sick.
Before I have to to truly feel sick as Haley crashes into me pushing me into the wall I cry out in pain as the sharp rock cuts deep just below one of my ribs. Haley hearing me cry gets up fast and this time my right arm is scraped against the wall and the rook digs in a little bit more jammed into the wall, I cry out again. Haley realizing what just happened comes around behind me and looks at my left side.
She quickly pulls out a small first aid kit from her small bag, she slowly pulls me away from the wall trying not to hurt me further but I still groan as the rock is pulled out, I feel the blood before I see it and quickly shut my eyes. As Haley raps up my chest to stop the blood. She then wipes off the small drops of blood on my arm and puts a few bandages on my small cuts.
When she is done she I hear her crouch in front of me, "Aria can you stand" she asks trying to sound calm but I hear the slightest trembling in her voice. I try to think of something to say but all I can think about is the pain in my side and ace in my chest.
I slowly open my eyes and on trembling legs rise to my feet, I wince at the pain in my chest but hold through it my palms feel cold as I reach out to Haley for support. She flinches slightly at the contact "your hands are so warm" she says but my mind is on other things.
Me and Haley quickly figure out that we can't get out the same way we got in. And we follow a dim light down a small path in the rock. Me staying in front and close to the wall for support, feeling more sick and less in pain by the minute, I try to look strong so as not to worry Haley.
Haley's POV
I feel like an awful friend, I mean if she had been facing a the wall differently and the sharp rock was by her chest it could have cut into her heart. I am so lost in my own thoughts that I don't notice I'm about to walk into Aria until I bump into her, Aria not fully stable stumbles forward a bit as she tries to regain her balance, that's when I notice where we are I gasp as I look up through the top of the Volcano. Then back at the pool of water, a pool of water that Aria is about to fall into, I quickly rush over to her only to end up slipping on a wet rock by the edge of the pool. We both fall in with a splash.
