I'm sorry that it took so long for us to upload another chapter, a lot has been happening and now we're back. And without any further a due we hope you'll enjoy this chapter
Chapter 3
Pure as a melody, as pure as I want to be.
Rika was telling the guard off for what he had done to Kenneth and she was livid and she said it in an irritated manner.
Rika: "How could you do such a thing if you don't have something better to do than hitting children."
The guard: "Listen, kid." he asked for it and if I feel like beating the crap out of him again I would."
(SMACK!)
Rika swiftly struck her hand across his face and said while helping Kenneth up in an antagonized fashion.
Rika: "Shame on you!" And they went on their way home while the guard was shocked about what just happened
The guard: "Filthy little brats!" He said in annoyance.
Rika: "LET'S GO HOME!" Said she was still trying to pull Kenneth away from The guard
Kenneth: "NO THIS MAN +#*ME UP!" The guard gave out a seriously aggravated look
The guard: "Look kid if you want me to waste my time yelling and fighting a kid like you I will be more than glad to smash your face against the brick wall." And then Rika was finally able to pull Kenneth away
Kenneth: "I WILL SEE YOU IN HELL YOU HEAR ME, I WILL SEE YOU IN HELL!" The guard said
The guard: "Not in this lifetime you HEAR ME, NOT IN THIS LIFETIME!" Then Kenneth and Rika walked away and they were going home. And when Rika and Kenneth were walking Rika said
Rika: "Don't worry." She held Kenneth's hand and Kenneth noticed that Rika's hand was shaking.
Kenneth: "Wha-what's wrong? Rika faced Kenneth with a wrathful face yet having tearful eyes.
Rika: "WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU?" YOU COULD HAVE GOTTEN KILLED!" She yelled while tears were going down her face Kenneth said
Kenneth: "I was trying to help-" Rika talked over Kenneth and said with a shaky voice.
Rika: "NO YOU WERE BEING STUPID, AND RECKLESS AND YOU DIDN'T EVEN STOP TO CONSIDER WHAT WOULD HAPPEN IF YOU GO OVER THERE! HONESTLY, WHAT WERE YOU THINKING. I DID SAY I WOULD TRUST YOU BUT I DIDN'T THINK YOU WOULD DO SOMETHING LIKE THAT. I mean you had me worried, Kenne." She said now starting to calm down.
Kenneth looked up to the sky to see the sunset, he looked to the ground feeling terrible.
Kenneth: (Sigh) "(What was I thinking, I went ahead and let my emotions get the better of me and now look what happened, I should've just left when they told me no.)" He thought feeling complete guilt.
When they made it to the tavern Kenneth saw rika's mom Ririka waiting at the front door outside of the tavern she had a very angry look on her face Kenneth tried not to look her in the eyes and act like he didn't see her, all though Ririka looked mad you can tell she wasn't surprised, but she tried to act like she was worried and tried to give Kenneth a chance to be honest about what happened she took a deep breath then began to speak.
Ririka: "Kenneth are you okay oh my gosh your leg a-and your arm it's broken what happened?!'' She said in a very concerned tone
Kenneth: "oh…I fell from a….I- got into a fight…with a marine." He said nervously.
Kenneth couldn't bear not telling her the truth, especially since he accidentally looked her in the eyes.
Ririka looked at Kenneth with a face only a mother would have, especially if the kid did something he knew he wasn't supposed to do. It looked like she could terrify anyone with that look. Even with that look of rage, she gave her orders at such a calm volume.
Ririka: "Kenneth, get inside." She said politely.
Without saying a word Kenneth let Rika help him inside so he could get patched up. Everybody that was watching knew that he was in a lot of trouble.
Ririka had an ice pack in her hand and started to place it on his broken leg, he winced in pain.
Kenneth: "Ow, that hurt!" He said while groaning in pain.
Ririka: "Well maybe if you didn't go over there, you wouldn't be in this predicament." She said with slight aggravation.
Kenneth: "Uh…"
Ririka: "Okay, before I give you a piece of my mind, I need to know why you went over there after I told you not to and you promised me you wouldn't! She said with a furious expression.
Kenneth: "Look it doesn't matter what I did or what I plan to come up with. All helmeppo wants to make sure is that he is winning and that he is the bigger man in this.'' He replied
Kenneth's mind worked like a would have intense flashes of an idea and storm-like energy coupled with it but found it hard to maintain that energy further into his was as if two minds sat in his skull, one who sat dormant on a lounging recliner, sipping gently on lemonade and watching the mess through two myopic windows. The other half sat at the helm; clueless, scared but confident. Occasionally the reclining mind would speak up and present an ingenious idea then fall back to languor. The working mind would then slog the task.
Ririka: "Look I know you want to help, and I know you lied to me last night but I didn't mention it cause I was hoping you wouldn't do something so rash." She said calmly
Rika: "Yeah Kenn, plus this proves you have a bad track record at lying especially to those who are trying to take care of you." She reasonably said
Kenneth: "I've never once lied to you Rika." He said with a stern expression that made all the optimism leave the room.
Rika showed a blank expression.
Rika: "Okay Kenneth, why did you even go over there?" She responded
Kenneth: Oh, I was gonna beat the guard up, nothing personal I just wanted to show helmeppo a fraction of what I'm capable of." He said sharply
Rika: "By beating up a guard." She deadpanned
Kenneth: "Yes." He responded
Rika: "How do you know this was gonna work." She asked
Kenneth: "I just do." He answered even more sternly than usual
Rika: "Look Kenneth you know what you did is wrong right?" She asked
Kenneth's burning fuse began to reach its payload.
Kenneth: "RIKA!" He snapped
Kenneth: "For god's sake can you please just give me a chance to explain I know what I did was wrong okay, I shouldn't have gone there and what I did was stupid cause I let my emotions get the better of me and now I have to face the fact that I'm gonna be grounded. Maybe I'm just a mistake that has been brought to your house.'' he said as tears were starting to form." I'm sorry I even showed I probably just made things worse for you guys for what I did, so let me just say I'm sorry okay. I'm sorry!." he said as you can hear his voice sobbing and echoing through the room then he lowered his tone and was able to calm down and speak without tears as he was already whipping them. "(Huff) Can you please just wrap up my leg and I can go to bed?'' He said finally calming down.
Without saying another word Ririka and her daughter focused on taking care of the rest of Kenneth's injuries so he can go to his room and accept the consequences of his actions.
(The next day)
Kenneth is sitting on the patient's bed with a new cast for his leg and has his left arm in an arm brace with one crutch laying beside him. The doctor is sitting in front of Kenneth and decides to have a little talk with him.
Doctor: "So, got into a fight?" He asked
Kenneth: "Yep." He responds
Doctor: "Did you win?" He asked
Kenneth: "Nope." He responded. He was just sitting there like a boy who's been knocked down and has lost the will to get back up.
Doctor: "Who attacked first was it you or him?" He asked
Kenneth: "Me." He said back.
Doctor: "Did he deserve it?" He asked
Kenneth: "Maybe, I think he deserves it." He answered
Doctor: "How do you know if he deserves it?" He questioned
Kenneth: "I don't know, I just think he does". He answered
The Doctor took a good look at Kenneth and decided to give him some advice before he goes back to Ririka.
Doctor: "A word of advice, don't be so quick to do something rash. Cause you may not know what kind of day they're having, understand. But just remember you're just a kid, you're not a vigilante." he said with a stern expression.
Kenneth nodded, grabbed his crotch, and left the patient room.
When he made it to the lounge he saw that Erika was waiting for him, Ririka paid the doctor and thanked him for the help and the two left the office when they made it home. It's been a week and Kenneth only has a couple of days to wait until he's off his punishment. He already got his arm brace off of him and now he's a drawing machine. He sat at the table and decided to draw a few more things, after a few hours someone came into the tavern someone Kenneth was all too familiar with. When he lifted his head from the sketch pad he was intimidated by the man in front of him. It was the marine soldier that broke Kenneth's left arm and right leg.
Kenneth: (There's no way, there's no freakin way she would let this guy come in here after what he did to me.) He thought
Kenneth got up from his chair and went to the counter to talk to Ririka.
Kenneth: "What's he doing here?" He whispered to her so he wouldn't hear what he said.
Ririka: "I invited him." She replied
Kenneth: "You did what." "Do I need to remind you that he's the one that broke my limbs?! He quietly shouted.
Ririka: "Oh, I'm very aware of that." She responded
Kenneth: "Then why did you invite him." He asked
Ririka: "Cause he's been standing out there in the hot sun all day and I think it would be nice if you cook for him." She said trying to act like she didn't set this up on purpose.
Kenneth: "You expect me to cook for that &*%$#*." He said trying his best not to shout.
Ririka leaned towards Kenneth and started to pinch his left cheek.
Ririka: "Language, come on if you do this I might let you off your punishment." She said reasonably
Kenneth let out a heavy sigh in defeat and reluctantly went into the kitchen to fix the soldier some food, after a few minutes he came out with what he ordered and brought them to him when he saw Kenneth he looked at him with a confused expression.
Soldier: "Have we met?" He asked
Kenneth: (Is he serious, how dense can he be-well this could be a blessing in disguise, maybe it's a good thing he does not recognize me.) He thought.
Kenneth: "I don't think so." He replied a little nervous about his situation.
The soldier took a good long look at Kenneth and after a few moments, he recognized him.
The soldier: "ooohhh" he said with a face of realization like a man who had amnesia and forgotten everything in his life but only to regain it by seeing a familiar face."I remember you now you're that kid that I saw a week ago that tried to beat me up with a 2X4, did you think I was gonna let you in (LOL) well I wasn't." He said with a straight face.
Kenneth placed both his hands on the table and looked him straight in the face.
Kenneth: "Listen, I'm only doing this because Ririka asked me to, so how about you just eat your food and don't start any BS!" He said trying his best not to lose his cool.
The soldier stared at Kenneth for a few and started to laugh, Kenneth just watched looking slightly confused.
The soldier: "What did you do, did you get in trouble." He asked
Kenneth: (Grunt)
The soldier: "You did, oh I bet you still want to beat my tail." He asked
Kenneth gave him a look of inner rage that he was trying to contain, but he did pull off a smile trying to show he was being passive-aggressive.
The soldier: "Yep you do, I can tell by the look in your eyes." He said without a care in the world.
"But about that day you showed up there's something I have to tell you kid,'' he said trying to catch his breath.
Kenneth: (That's it, screw me being let off my punishment if this guy says something smug I'm gonna hit him with the chair he is sitting on)." he thought as he slowly turned to get ready to grab the chair from him.
The soldier: "Yeah about that kid, I'm sorry I broke your arm and leg." "I didn't want you to get hurt because Helmeppo's father would've done worse than I did." "Plus I'm not usually like that." "I just lost my temper when you hit me in the head so, my bad." He said while scratching the back of his head in embarrassment.
Kenneth crossed his arms and rolled his eyes
Kenneth: (He's probably saying that because Ririka made him say that.) He thought.
The soldier: "I just want you to know that I'm worried about that guy called Zoro." "I'm not a hundred percent sure he'll make it through a month without eating or drinking anything while he's strung up that pole in the hot sun, but I'm not gonna interfere cause it's a bet between men." He said while leaning back in his chair.
Kenneth couldn't believe it, he completely had this guy wrong.
Kenneth: "Man don't I feel like a b*# !." He said while he faces palmed himself
Ririka, Rika, and The navy man stared at Kenneth for a few seconds before they laughed at him.
Kenneth had a little shade of pink on his face of embarrassment.
Kenneth: "That was not funny, that's not funny." He said as he tried to calm himself down
They stopped laughing at Kenneth and just silently chuckled to themselves, as Kenneth was about head back inside the kitchen The soldier extended his hand towards Kenneth surprising the boy.
The soldier: "By the way my name is Micheal." He said with a smile
Kenneth looked towards his hand and decided to shake it.
Kenneth: "Nice to meet you." He said still trying to calm himself down
Kenneth sat on the chair island resting his head on the counter, when he wasn't paying attention, Ririka placed her hand on his head to get his attention and it seemed like it worked cause he looked up and faced Ririka as she already removed her head from his hand.
Ririka: "I think you've been punished enough." She said smiling
Kenneth couldn't help but smile when she told him that he wanted to go walk around town again.
Ririka: "But you're not going anywhere without a chaperone." She said without an expression on her face.
Kenneth was shocked he was off his punishment but it looks like she can't trust him to go anywhere by himself.
Kenneth: "Are gonna follow me when I leave the house." He asked a little ticked
Ririka: "No, I'm too busy here at the tavern." "So you're gonna have to take Rika with you when you go for a walk around town." She answered
Kenneth sighs in defeat and decides to take what he can get.
Throughout the past couple of days Kenneth and Rika have been going through town, exploring and sometimes they stop at the dock and admire the view of the ocean. She asked Kenneth if he could teach her how to draw and after thinking about it for a moment, he told her yes she was struggling at first but when they got home she started to show improvement.
(The next day)
It was late in the afternoon and Kenneth and Rika were heading back home until Kenneth heard a faint sound of a cat giving out a weak meowing in the alleyway. He went into the alleyway to investigate. He heard the sound coming from inside a barrel. He took the lid off to find a small cat, it has white and black polka-dotted fur and green eyes. The poor thing looked like it hadn't eaten in days, Kenneth thought about it for a moment and decided to bring the little guy home with him.
So he carefully grabbed it and cradled it in his arms as he walked out of the alleyway and to his surprise Rika was waiting for him not too far where he left her, she looked a little upset until she saw the starving cat in Kenneth's arms. She grabbed his free arm and hurried them home.
When Kenneth and Rika finally made it home they were greeted by a slightly upset Ririka.
Ririka: "Where have you two been, I was starting to"
She saw Kenneth had a starving cat in his and Rika was staring at it in complete worry. Ririka took the cat from Kenneth and he quickly set up a little bed for the cat. Kenneth grabbed a couple of pillows and put them on the floor, Rika placed a bowl of milk in front of it and Ririka placed the cat on top of the pillows to rest. The cat drank out of the bowl until all the milk was gone, then it crawled back on the pillows and slowly fell asleep. Ririka placed her hand on the cat and started to pet it as it was sleeping, she looked towards Kenneth and Rika with questionable expressions.
Ririka: "where did you two find this little guy?" She asked.
Kenneth: "I found him in an alleyway in a barrel. He answered
Ririka looked to Rika who nodded to confirm he was telling the truth. She looked at Kenneth with a smile on her face. She was glad to know Kenneth would help an animal in need but she couldn't look after the cat, so she came up with only one solution.
Ririka: "Well I guess you'll have to take care of it, Kenneth." She said a little stern
Kenneth: "really." He said with a little excitement.
Rika smiled excitedly about having a pet cat.
Ririka: "Well, yes I don't see why not." "But you'll have to make sure you bathe it, feed it and take care of it." "The cat is your responsibility." She said specifically to Kenneth.
Kenneth looked at the sleeping cat and nodded, besides he's a cat person.
(A week later)
The cat seems to be doing okay since the week has passed, sometimes he would walk around the tavern or he would just sleep all day. I decided to name him Momo, since he lived with us Momo would act as a usual house cat. He would either play with Rika, nap in the tavern, or would be hanging with me. We would sometimes take him with Me and Rika when we went out for a daily walk around town. But then one night while Ririka was asleep, Rika quietly made her way to Kenneth's room with Momo following her. Without making a sound, when she and the cat made it inside they saw Kenneth's right shoulder start to glow a sky blue color and some weird black writing on it. She walked toward Kenneth and shook him a little to wake him up. He slowly sat up on the bed and started to notice that his right shoulder was glowing. He pulled up his sleeve to see a tattoo on his shoulder, it was some kind of symbol that wondered.
Kenneth: "What does it mean and how did I get it in the first place." He whispered in confusion.
Rika: "Who put this on you, did that salesmen do this?!" She quietly shouted with a furious expression.
Kenneth: "No, I don't know how I got this." " I'll worry about it later, so why did you wake me?" He whispered slightly confused.
Rika: "Oh, I want to tell you that I'm planning on seeing Zoro, but I'm not doing it the way you did it." She said with a smile.
Kenneth: "Then how are we gonna see him?" He asked.
Rika: "There's a fence a few feet away from the gate that's where they kept Zoro, I guess you haven't thought about that the last time you did." She whispered with a sly smirk.
Kenneth: "No, I just thought that I could talk to guards and they would let me in."
Rika raised an eyebrow at Kenneth with her smirk not going anywhere.
Kenneth let out an irritated sigh.
Kenneth: "OK, ok I didn't think of that when I went there, okay." He said with an annoyed tone
Rika giggled a little.
Rika: "Okay we'll go tomorrow morning, right after you're done helping Mom in the tavern." "I'll see you in the morning." She said as she took Momo and quietly left the bedroom leaving Kenneth in his room by himself.
Kenneth lay down on the bed and went back to sleep, but not before having final thoughts for the night.
Kenneth: (I hope Zoro's okay when I see him?)
The next day.
After eating breakfast and helping Ririka around the tavern, Kenneth and Rika made their way to the marine ford, they went to the fence Rika told Kenneth that she'll get the ladder leaving Kenneth all by himself. Kenneth was about to consider climbing the fence until he heard three voices approaching him, he quickly turned around to see three boys heading towards the fence.
The first one was a young man who looked a little older than Kenneth. Average at height, skinny with shaggy black hair, tanned skin, round black eyes and a scar with two stitches underneath his left eye. He wore a red sleeveless buttoned vest, blue trousers with cuffs, sandals, and a straw hat on his head. There were two boys following him, one was at arm's length in height compared to the teen, he had orange hair, fair skin, and green eyes. He wore a red shirt with a lightning bolt on it, green shorts, and brown shoes. The other one was shorter than the redhead, he was chubby, had pink hair, fair skin, and round glasses on. He was wearing a white shirt, black pants, and white shoes.
As they walked passed Kenneth he couldn't help but notice that the red-haired kid stared at
Kenneth for a few seconds with a surprised expression. But slowly had a calm expression.
?: "Hey Luffy, you go on ahead and see this Zoro guy we've been hearing about, I'll catch up."
He said not taking his eyes off of Kenneth
Luffy looked at the boy with a confused expression but ultimately decided to leave him be.
He just gave the boy a nod and went back to what he was doing
The took a few steps toward Kenneth and stopped in front of him and extended his hand towards Kenneth.
?: "Hi my name's Miller D. Matthew." He said simply
Kenneth looked at his hand with a dumbfounded expression at the realization and accepted the handshake.
Kenneth: "Keller, Keller C. Kenneth." He said in a friendly manner
We hope you all enjoyed this they're will be another chapter coming soon and we are going to do a few chapters on Ultra Zone and we have a new story and this one will be a crossover. What will it be we don't want to ruin the surprise but besides that I want you all to vote on the next chapter about this. Does Kenneth join the marines or join the straw hat pirates and if he does join Luffy, should Rika go with Kenneth. Me I think Kenneth should go with Luffy but Sketchaholic wants to know what ya'll think as do I, so we'll be waiting for your response.
