All for you (Jade)

This summer totally flipped Jade's world upside down. Imagine finding out her parents had spun this huge web of lies! The guy she thought was her dad? Total faker. Her mom? Turns out she used to jam as a groupie and backup singer for some washed-up musician in New York. And when she found out she was preggers, bam! She split for Los Angeles, leaving behind a past she never bothered to share.

So, in classic "like father, like daughter" style, Jade decided she'd rock the boat too. Sick of all the deception and not knowing where her creative streak came from, she was convinced her mom was as dull as dishwater, and her supposed dad? Mr. Stone Face. Props to him for raising her, but it was time for Jade to stir things up.

Then there's the whole deal with her friend Robyn. Apparently, she came out as Bi or something. No biggie for Jade, she was bi too. Only no one Knew because her dad was an asshole… well stepdad. So she wasn't surprised that her bestie Cat had a total freak-out. Cat might be her BFF, but she's got some serious closed-minded vibes. Good on Robyn, though. Might score her some cool points when they're back at school. Jade, Cat, and Robyn? As tight as they could be, considering they live miles apart. They were like this trio, glued together during their freshman year at Hollywood Arts. But now? Jade's fuming and feeling jaded—pun totally intended. Cat's dealing with home drama, looking after her bro Frankie, so they're not hanging out much. And Andre? He's all caught up in some music thing at UCLA.

Thinking about it all, Jade's frustration and need for change are bubbling up, making her itch to reach out to Robyn again. Jade's fingers danced over the keys of her phone as she fired off a text to Robyn. The summer had been a whirlwind of revelations and rebellion, and now she was determined to kick off her sophomore year with a bang.

**Jade:** Hey Rob, you up for some fun tonight? Beach party vibes. ? ゚ホノ

It didn't take long for Robyn to respond. Jade could almost hear her friend's voice in the text.

**Robyn:** Hey Jade! Sure, what's the plan?

**Jade:** There's this party at the beach, and guess who's gonna be there? Beck. ?

**Robyn:** No way! Is Beck's gonna be there?

**Jade:** Yup, and you know we both have a little crush on him. Time to make our move. ?

**Robyn:** Haha, you're always up for some mischief. ? But Jade, I gotta warn you, I kinda changed up my look over the summer. Not sure if Beck would even recognize me.

Jade smirked, imagining Robyn's transformation.

**Jade:** Change is good, Rob. Besides, we're not going for Beck's approval; we're going to have a blast. Plus, he might be into the new you. Come on, it'll be epic! ?

**Robyn:** Alright, you've convinced me. I'm in! What time should I be ready?

**Jade:** That's the spirit! Pick you up at 8. And wear something that screams "I'm here to slay." ?

**Robyn:** Got it, Jade. Can't wait! ?

As Jade put down her phone, a mischievous glint in her eyes, she couldn't help but feel a sense of excitement. This was the rebellion she craved, and with Robyn by her side, the beach party was bound to be legendary.

Jade tapped her foot impatiently as she waited outside Robyn's apartment. Her fingers drummed on the steering wheel, and she glanced at her phone, shooting off a quick text.

**Jade:** Outside ur place. Come out, slowpoke. ?

She looked up from her phone, scanning the area, when suddenly, a well-dressed, nerdy-looking guy stepped out of the building. For a split second, confusion clouded Jade's expression until she realized who it was. Robyn.

"Hey," she called out, trying to mask her surprise. "Who's the new dude?"

Robyn turned, catching Jade's eye, and walked over. "Hey, it's me. Robbie."

Jade arched an eyebrow, a smirk tugging at the corner of her lips. "Whoa, a big change from the last time I saw you. What's up with the makeover?"

Robbie chuckled, shrugging nonchalantly. "Yeah, I've changed a bit. Call it a personal upgrade."

"Upgrade? Sure thing," Jade retorted, a hint of playfulness in her tone. "Well, Robbie, I'd say this new look suits you."

Robbie grinned, and Jade couldn't help but notice the confidence radiating from him. "Thanks, Jade. I'm going by he/him now, just so you know."

Jade nodded casually. "Got it, Rob. So, what's up with the sudden transformation? Trying to give the nerds a good name?"

Robbie laughed, rolling his eyes. "Something like that. You know, just evolving with the times."

"Hmm, evolving, huh?" Jade's sarcasm was as thick as ever. "Well, Rob, I guess I'll have to adjust to this new and improved version of you."

Robbie chuckled, seeing through Jade's facade. "Yeah, it's a shocker, I know."

Jade grinned. "Oh, totally. But hey, as long as you're happy, I'm cool with it. Just don't expect me to go easy on the teasing."

Robbie gave Jade a playful shove. "Wouldn't expect anything less from you, Jade."

As they bantered back and forth, Jade made sure to keep the teasing light-hearted, masking her genuine support and acceptance with her trademark sarcasm. Deep down, she was proud of her friend's courage to embrace who he truly was.

As they made their way down the sandy path, the sound of crashing waves and the salty sea air filled their senses.

But as they approached the beach, their attention was immediately drawn to a bonfire, its flames dancing in the breeze. And standing around the fire were two Latina girls, one of whom Jade recognized. It was the loud one, the one who was going to be a junior next year. She was arguing with a slimmer, really pretty girl who made Jade instantly fold her arms over her chest as her nipples went utterly rigid. 'Damn...' Robbie whispered, mirroring Jade's thoughts.

'I know...' Jade replied, both of their eyes following the girls. But then the pretty girl broke off with the girl they knew and wrapped her arms around a douchey little white boy, kissing him passionately. Jade rolled her eyes and turned to Robbie. 'You think Beck is bi?' she asked, her friend trying to get back on track.

'I doubt it, considering the amount of girls that are always around him,' Robbie said, handing Jade a beer.

'Have you seen him?' Jade asked, taking the beer and taking a deep swallow. She hated the taste of beer but loved the buzz she got from it.

Robbie signaled with his head and Jade followed his gaze. There were four girls talking to a long-haired boy leaning against an RV. Jade grinned and sauntered over. 'Rob... Do you have enough for an Uber? Just in case.'

Surprised, Robbie looked at his friend. She had never been so bold. She had, in fact, been incredibly shy freshman year. At least around Beck. He wondered how Jade had transformed this summer as well.

Jade walked straight into the Windstream RV that Beck was leaning against, her eyes locked on him until he followed. As soon as they were inside, they began making out, their hands roaming over each other's bodies. Jade allowed heavy petting to happen, enjoying the thrilling sensation of being with someone new.

After their intense make-out session, Jade pulled away and looked into the boy's dark brown, intense eyes. 'You're going to be my boyfriend from now on,' she declared, surprising even herself with her boldness.

Beck, seemed taken aback for a moment before a smile spread across his face. 'I like the sound of that,' he replied, pulling Jade in for another kiss.

As they continued to explore each other, their chemistry was more electric than anything she had ever felt.

As the night went on, Jade and Beck couldn't keep their hands off each other. They danced around the bonfire, laughed, and talked about everything and anything. And as the sun began to rise, they sat on the beach, watching the waves, knowing that this was the start of something special.

Jade couldn't believe how her once-shy self had transformed in just one summer.
