Chapter 2
Sam chewed a bite of salad as he looked through the information that Bobby had sent to them on the possible case. He scanned each page committing the basics to memory as he sorted and organized everything in his mind. Dean would say he was showing his OCD, because Sam liked things organized and orderly. But he had to admit, it did make his life a little easier.
"So, what are we walking into?" Dean asked as he cut his steak and crammed a bite into his mouth, humming his approval. "They do know how to cook a steak," he mumbled around the bite.
"Dude, can you talk after you've swallowed?" Sam complained rolling his eyes at Dean's table manners. He didn't think his brother was ever going to change no matter how much he fussed at him.
"Well?" Dean asked impatiently after swallowing the bite of steak. "I can't read your mind, well, not now…But most of the time it's easy."
"What are you talking about? You can't either," Sam snapped at him, but thought he really could, most of the time. "There's been a number of deaths in the small town and part of them were suicides. The newspaper articles say that the suicide victims had killed someone close to them and then themselves."
"One, I could see; just how many are we talking about?"
"Well," Sam thought before continuing. "There were four by this last report."
"Okay, yeah, that does sound like more than would be normal."
"I agree, something doesn't sound right. I'm hitting the head before we go," Sam noted wiping his mouth and pushing his chair from the table. He got up and headed to the restroom.
Dean finished his steak and moved on to a slice of pie, thinking every meal should end with pie. He got to go drinks for them and paid for the meal. By the time Sam came back, Dean was ready to hit the road. They headed out to the Impala and Dean got behind the wheel to start their trip to Clayton, New Mexico.

"Are we getting a motel room and starting on this case tomorrow?" Sam asked since it was evening when they pulled into Clayton.
"Yeah, we'll get a good night's sleep and start fresh in the morning," Dean agreed. "Wanna see what motels you can find in the area? And be sure they have a free breakfast."
"Yeah, yeah, I know," Sam grunted knowing how much Dean liked free breakfasts.
"I'm going to stop ahead and gas up before we get to Clayton."
"Good I'll see what motels are in the area and call to reserve a room."
Dean started checking the billboards for gas stations, checking the gas prices, and finding one about ten miles ahead that would work. The price was good, and it was only twenty-five miles from their destination. He changed lanes so he could exit from the highway when he got there.
When Dean pulled up to the pumps at the convenience store, Sam went online and checked out motels to find one that had a decent continental breakfast and made a reservation online for them.
"Okay," Dean sighed when he got back in the car. "We're less than thirty minutes from Clayton, let's finish this." He cranked the Impala and got back on the highway heading west. Traffic was light and Dean pulled into the motel parking lot twenty minutes later.
"I'll go in and get our room," Sam stated when Dean stopped in front of the office. He stretched and worked the kinks from his back before stepping into the office. After registering and finding out the time for breakfast, he grabbed a couple of maps and a newspaper before heading out and waving for Dean to follow him around the building to the rows of rooms. He had lucked out and got a corner room away from other guests staying there.
Dean parked the car and got out, going to the trunk to get their bags while Sam opened the door for their room. He was ready for a good night's sleep and hoped that it would be dreamless. Sam had the lights on as he strolled into the main room sitting their bags on the beds.
"You want the bathroom first?" Sam asked, checking everything out before getting his bathroom bag from his duffle.
"Sure," Dean replied getting his bathroom bag out and heading into the bathroom. He did his routine and came back out so Sam could take his turn. He stripped down to his briefs and T-shirt before turning down the covers and crawling between the fresh smelling sheets. With a long sigh, Dean settled into the mattress getting comfortable as he let his body relax slipping into sleep within a few minutes.
"Nite bro," Sam mumbled when he came out and saw Dean had already gone to sleep. He turned off the lights and undressed before getting into his bed, thinking it felt good to just relax. He listened to the soft snoring from his brother and let it lull him to sleep.
