A/N: A little more plot.
"Detective, I need your location." Olivia spoke into her radio as she and the rest of her squad drove their cars in the direction of Mercy hospital. The brunette Captain kept her eyes trained on her surroundings in case she spotted her missing detectives on the way.
"On the corner of Tenth and Vine." Grace's voice replied over the radio.
"Captain, I've got them. You better get over here, it's a mess." Velasco's voice crackled over the radio as he pulled over on the side of the road and ran toward the car stuck on its side in the ditch.
"Copy that. Who's hit?" Olivia asked, turning her car around to head in the opposite direction.
"Officer Harvey, one of the uni's on Muncy's protective detail. The other officer is gone, Duarte threw her in his car and took off when he couldn't force Muncy to go with him." Amanda replied, getting up from the ground.
"They won't get too far, I shot him in the leg." Grace's voice once again crackled over the line, pulling herself out the window of the car toppled over in the ditch.
Olivia rolled her eyes, and for once she was grateful for Grace's trigger happy impulses. Given the situation, she wasn't going to scold Grace over the ten hours of paperwork she had just created for herself by firing her weapon.
"Muncy and Rollins, stay put. The ambulance is ten minutes away." Olivia ordered.
"Harvey doesn't have ten minutes, Captain." Grace said, applying pressure to the profusely bleeding wound, though the officer was already starting to die.
Olivia cursed under her breath as she pulled up on the scene and jumped out of her car. The first thing she saw was the car turned over in the ditch. Then she saw Grace kneeling on the ground next to the dead body of an officer in the grass, her hands covered in his blood. Amanda sat nearby cradling her shoulder protectively.
"Come here. This might hurt." Velasco popped Amanda's shoulder back into its socket and Amanda let out a painful scream.
"Damn, girl, you got a set of lungs." Fin whistled, walking up onto the scene.
"How did you two get all the way up here? Mercy hospital is back that way." Olivia motioned behind her.
"Duarte pulled up behind us and was riding our tail, so we tried to lose him. One thing led to another, we took at least a thousand left turns, long story short our car's in a ditch and Duarte has a hostage. Get off of me, mom." Amanda smacked Velasco's arm to stop his fussing over her.
"I bit him when he tried to take me with him." Grace said.
"Good girl. Ah, there's the ambulance." Olivia observed as a siren could be heard in the distance and an ambulance came speeding toward them.
"You've got a pretty decent bump on the head, detective, but you'll live." the EMT said when he was finished examining Grace, carefully labeling the sample swab he had taken from her mouth while two other EMTs took the dead body away.
"Should we head back to Mercy hospital, Captain?" Amanda asked, her arm in a sling.
"I completely forgot. Kat, take Churlish and the two of you go to Mercy hospital to speak with our victim. The rest of us will go back to the precinct. And I don't want to hear one word about it." Olivia gave Amanda and Grace her best Detective Benson glare when she saw that they were both getting ready to protest.
Kat and Churlish walked into Mercy hospital, and after identifying themselves they were escorted to the room where their young victim was lying in her bed staring blankly up at the ceiling.
"Christine? I'm Detective Tamin, this is Detective Churlish. We're from the Special Victims Unit. We'd like to ask you some questions about what happened to you." Kat spoke kindly.
"They already did my rape kit. Now they won't let me go home until my blood pressure goes down. Fat chance of that happening." Christine spoke without emotion.
"I know this has been a shocking day for you. Did you know your attacker?" Tonie asked.
"No, I'd never seen him before. He was an old man, I just assumed he was one of our professors. Sometimes some of the professors like to party with us even though they're technically not supposed to. I was sitting on the couch and he offered me a beer. I thought it tasted weird. Next thing I remember, I woke up in my dorm room without my underwear and I was sore down there."
"Can you describe what this guy looked like?" Kat asked.
"Tall, thin. He's a native New Yorker, he had the accent. Dark hair, dark eyes. A mustache and a little bit of a beard. Latino."
"That's very helpful, Christine. We'll let you rest now and we're going to do our best to find this guy, I promise." Kat and Tonie left the room and headed toward the exit to leave the hospital.
One day about a week later, Duarte was still on the run and his hostage had been found dead. Grace was a nervous wreck, unable to decide whether she felt safer being big or little, and the battle for dominance between her big girl self and her baby girl self was tearing her apart. It was her day off from work, but Olivia had to go to the precinct, and Grace definitely didn't want Olivia to leave her. Olivia picked up her cell phone and dialed a familiar number as she cuddled Grace on her lap. Grace put her thumb in her mouth to soothe herself. Olivia gently removed Grace's thumb and tried to replace it with a pacifier, but Grace's big girl self refused to let her indulge in it.
"Hey, Captain, I know I'm late, Frannie ate chocolate. I'm getting ready to clock in right now." Amanda's voice came over the line as she hurried through the parking lot toward the precinct. She was confused when she heard what sounded like a baby fussing in the background.
"No, you're not. I need your help today, so I need you to get back in your car and come to my place. You just have to promise me that this won't get around to anyone else, because if I find out that you've blabbed it all over the precinct, I will take your shield." Olivia warned sternly.
"Whoa, easy, tiger. I know how to keep my mouth shut." Amanda turned and walked back to her car, curious as to what could possibly be happening that would require her to go to her Captain's apartment instead of to work.
"Good, I'll see you in fifteen minutes." Olivia hung up the phone and turned to give her young charge her full attention, still gently rubbing Grace's belly.
"Okay, let's try this again, little one. I know you're having a very bad day." Olivia once again tried to offer Grace her pacifier.
"No! I'm a good girl!" Grace twisted her head away, hoping that if she could prove that she could be a big girl, it would make Olivia stay home with her and not leave her alone all day.
"You are a very good girl, Gracie-baby. I'm not leaving because you weren't a good girl, I just have to go to work and I called Amanda to come sit with you today while I'm gone so you won't be alone."
This news made Grace stop her fussing and look up at Olivia curiously, trying to piece together the information she had just been given. Amanda was a friend and she was someone that Grace trusted, but Grace didn't want any of her colleagues to know about Gracie, and she wasn't sure if she had the strength to be a big girl all day long today. She didn't want Amanda to make fun of her or find her disgusting or to tell all of their colleagues about her. Olivia could see the fear in Grace's dazzling blue eyes and she knew exactly what she was thinking, gently stroking the side of Grace's face to soothe her.
"I promise Amanda won't make fun of you, lovey, and she won't tell anyone else about my sweet baby girl. This will stay private just between the three of us, you have nothing to be afraid of." Olivia promised lovingly. If she didn't trust Amanda, then she wouldn't have called her in the first place. Olivia picked Grace up and carried her into her room to change her into a fresh diaper and get her dressed for the day. Feeling the safety of the diaper around her body, Grace began to sink into 'little' space.
"Hey, what's going on? Are you okay?" Amanda asked with concern when she stepped into Olivia's apartment sixteen and a half minutes later.
"I'm fine, but there's a situation I need your help with, and like I said, you better keep it to yourself. Grace is afraid to be home alone today and I need you to sit with her while I'm gone. I would stay home with her today, but I have a meeting with McGrath this afternoon, and if I cancel it again he's going to give me another one of his annoying tongue lashings."
"Sure, I can keep her company. But why is it such a big secret?" Amanda asked, still confused.
Olivia motioned behind Amanda and the blonde detective turned to see Grace in the living room, and she did a quick double take just to make sure she was seeing things correctly; if she didn't know any better she would swear she was looking at a cute baby girl instead of a grown woman. Grace was sitting on the floor wearing a diaper and a purple My Little Pony t-shirt with a pacifier in her mouth, her hair fixed in pigtails. She was surrounded by various toys on the floor while cartoons played on the TV. It suddenly dawned on Amanda exactly what she was looking at, and she turned back to Olivia with understanding in her eyes.
"That's Gracie. She pretty much pops in and out whenever she pleases when we aren't working, and with Duarte roaming around on the loose, she's been with me more than usual lately." Olivia explained a little bit of how Gracie came to exist in the hands of Duarte, and then she proceeded to explain to Amanda everything she needed to know to take care of Gracie while Olivia was gone. Olivia showed Amanda where she kept the extra diapers, the first aid kit, Gracie's sippy cup, and where she could find an extra pacifier or two if she needed it. She explained that Gracie liked to be cuddled and tickled and read to, she liked to color, and when she was upset or sleepy she liked having her belly rubbed. She explained Gracie's eating schedule and nap schedule, and also gave Amanda permission to put Gracie in time-out or give her little bottom a firm spanking if Gracie needed to be disciplined, showing Amanda the time-out corner and where she kept the hairbrush if she deemed it necessary to use, and the arnica for afterwards. With all of that accomplished, the two women walked back out into the living room.
"Hi, 'Manda." Gracie hesitantly looked up at Amanda with uncertainty in her dazzling blue eyes, clutching her pink and purple stuffed kitty in her arms. She wasn't going to let herself fully indulge in 'little' space until she was one hundred percent sure that her secret was safe with Amanda.
"Hey, sweetie. Does the kitty have a name?" Amanda asked kindly, crouching down so she wasn't towering over the nervous little one and trying to focus Gracie's attention on little girl things to make her more comfortable with the situation.
"Is Jewel. Pitty collar." Gracie replied, pointing to the sparkly collar around Jewel's neck.
"Gracie-baby," Olivia used Gracie's nickname to get her attention, "Mommy has to go to work now. Will you be a good girl for Amanda today so Mommy can give you a gold star before beddy-bye time?"
"I be good girl, Mommy. Hugs, peeze." Gracie held out her arms towards Mommy, clenching and unclenching her fists.
Olivia gave her baby girl a tight hug and a loving kiss to her forehead, and she turned to gather her things, strapping her gun to her hip and attaching her badge to her belt. As she walked out the door, she smiled hearing Gracie giggling happily as Amanda tickled her feet, playing the 'This Little Piggy' nursery rhyme with Gracie's feet settled gently in her lap, and Olivia knew that her sweet little Gracie was in good hands for the day.
