After lunch was over, Luz was finally allowed to go to her room to rest as she fell face first into the pillow.
"A nice nap." Luz muttered with a small grin.
She quickly fell alseep. But what she saw in her sleep was not dream or even past memories of her life. They were visions of the Sparda bloodline, their history.
Their bloody, bloody history.
But it wasn't all bloody. It at least had romance as Sparda was willing to give up his stance for love. Even if it resulted in becoming the number one wanted man in hell.
Luz began to toss and turn, which resulted in Amity shaking her awake after she entered the room.
"Luz? Luz!" Amity said in worry.
'She must be having a nightmare! Or daymare or whatever!' Amity thought.
Luz opened her eyes, which flashed blue for a moment, as she sat up. Breathing heavily and gripping the bedsheets.
"Are you okay!?" Amity asked.
"Y-Yeah, I'm fine." Luz said, wiping some sweat from her forehead. "Just a…bad dream."
'Apologizes. It would appear that in order to fully control the power you now wield, you must learn the history of the Sparda bloodline.' Yamato said, not even knowing this itself.
'Holy shit, that was intense.' Luz thought.
"What did you dream about?" Amity asked, sitting in the bed next to Luz.
"I…I don't remember." Luz said, holding her head. "It was... there was so much happening at once."
"Do you want to talk about it? Maybe you can try to remember." Amity suggested.
"I-I don't know, maybe, but just having you here is enough." Luz said, wiping more sweat away. "You don't happen to know a water spell, do you? I could use a drink."
"Easy." Amity said with a smile.
Amity drew a spell circle and created an orb of water for Luz, allowing her to purse her lips and drink from it.
"Thanks." She said.
"Anything for my girlfriend." Amity said, leaning on Luz's shoulder as the human put an arm around her.
The Yamato observed their interaction, finding it sweet and pure, but also being reminded of the same love between the original Sparda and the love he shared with Vergil's mother. Along with the dangers that came with it.
'This might be a problem.' Yamato said but made sure Luz didn't hear it.
Little did it know... things would only get harder from here.
After Luz calmed down, she and Amity left her room to watch one of the Azura movies.
It was something they loved doing together.
'This film is an abomination.' Yamato comments blankly just from the COVER.
'Shut up! Azura is a masterpiece.' Luz thought, scolding the sword in her soul.
'You know nothing of true art.' Yamato said.
'I know art is in the eye of the beholder. So stuff it.' Luz thought as she put in the movie and went to sit next to Amity.
Yamato said nothing else. It just let them have their moment and enjoy it, even if it was forced to watch this Azura dreck.
'I almost wish for another monster to attack right now.' Yamato said to itself.
Once it was over, Luz went back to her room.
'That was terrible torture.' Yamato said.
'You just need to get used to the modern world. Azura has a very positive fanbase and could be inspiration for me to train with.' Luz thought.
'Don't, please. I might vomit.' Yamato said with a groan.
'Even my own sword doesn't like it!' Luz mentally groaned.
'I have seen many magical and horrific things that make your fantasy world look like nothing but a fairy tale.' Yamato said.
'Can you just let me enjoy things?' Luz thought.
'I enjoy battle and strength.' Yamato said.
'There's more it life than just battles and power.' Luz thought as she jumped on her bed and relaxed again. 'Didn't the previous user have a pass time he enjoyed?'
'………Reading a nice book. Preferably poetry.' Yamato replied.
'Okay he sounded boring, as much as I love reading there's much more to life than that.' Luz mentally judged.
'Maybe in this modern age but not for my previous master. His age and life was full of struggle, especially from his annoying brother.' Yamato said.
'I can only imagine.' Luz thought but she did find it interesting to know that the first wielder had a brother.
"Hey, Yamato, you never told me the name of your original master." Luz said softly.
'And?' Yamato asked.
'Can you tell me? Please?' Luz thought.
'...Vergil. Vergil Sparda.' Yamato said.
'Vergil, huh? Interesting name.' Luz thought before going to grab her private notebook.
Luz started a new chapter and began writing private thoughts about her new powers and weapons.
'If you wish to record your progress, you must be sure to hide this notebook.' Yamato said.
'I will.' Luz thought.
Turning to the very back, Luz picked a page and wrote down quick yet little information on what she knew about "Devil Arms" weapons and the two she had in her possession if she counted Yamato as a devil arm. She even wrote about the demons she faced, the Hell Prides and Beowulf.
Along with a doodle of herself with the sword in hand.
'As they say, the pen is mightier than the sword.' Luz joked with an internal chuckle.
'I beg to differ.' Yamato said.
'Learn to take a joke!' Luz thought, doing notes on the Beowulf devil arms now.
'Wonder if there's others out there?' Luz thought.
'Other demons in your world? Child, you have no idea.' Yamato said to her.
"Then how come I've never seen them?" Luz asked softly.
'Because they never had a reason. Demons have been in hiding for centuries and kept out of mortal affairs, aside from cults.' Yamato said.
Luz didn't want to think about cults right now. Not with the entire coven system back on the Boiling Isles was nothing but a glossed over cult for a genocidal witch hunter.
'You're angry, I can feel it.' Yamato said.
'Oh really? You can tell my emotions?' Luz thought, writing about Beowulf's light attribute.
'Indeed and if you wish to talk, I am a good confidant.' Yamato said.
'Yeah, seeing as I'm the only one that can hear you.' Luz thought, rolling her eyes.
'It is still better than nothing, Luz.' Yamato said. 'Though, we can treat it as an equal exchange if you want. You tell me more about your experiences and I tell you more about the Sparda history you saw in your sleep.'
That was a good deal, so with a sigh Luz decided to spill the beans.
'Well, there was this guy, his name was Belos.' Luz thought.
'Interesting name.' Yamato said.
'Yeah but that's the ONLY thing interesting about him. He was a tyrant or as most thought a benevolent king that taught people the "proper" way to use magic.' Luz thought bitterly. 'In reality he was doing his best to kill everyone.'
'Really?' Yamato asked, intrigued.
'Yep.' Luz thought.
'But why?' Yamato asks.
'Because he was demented and delusional to his view that all other species are dangerous and should be wiped out. He's takes racist to a whole new level!' Luz thought, angrily drawing the Beowulf.
'I see but try and calm down, you're not trained enough, and any strong emotions can cause unintended side effects.' Yamato warned.
'Like what?' Luz asked.
'Unconsciously leaking your power out and drawing the demons to your home, awakening your devil trigger on accident,-
"My what?" Luz interrupted.
'-and unleashing a powerful blast of pure demonic power that could destroy your house.' Yamato said.
Luz nearly dropped her pencil from this before writing faster than before!
At the top of the next page she wrote "DEVIL TRIGGER?!" In big letters and an underline with the word "Dangerous?" next to it.
'And what IS the devil trigger?' Luz thought with a small meep.
'You will know when you are ready. Too much information could be hindering if you are not prepared for it.' Yamato said.
'You're not making this easy.' Luz thought.
'I am your mentor and weapon. It is not my job to make training you to master me "easy." Remember that.' Yamato said.
