Chapter 15

So. I'm sure you're wondering where last months chapters is, well to put it simply it's gone. I had half it wrote but it got freaking deleted alongside my copy of chapter 14 so yeah. As you can imagine this served to obliterate my motivation to write this story so hence why it's taken so long to get this chapter out. Rant over and I hope you all enjoy the much awaited chapter.

On a lighter note though, Happy Halloween!

Spectacular Webhead11: Don't want to spoil too much but we will be seeing Prowler, Kraven and maybe the Jackal among others making their appearance on the villains side. On the hero side there's one confirmed for the Halloween arc which i am really excited for (Probably not gonna be there till next Halloween tho.) but i'll let you all guess who. Other than that hero the only other gurantee is Captain America but that's not for a long time.

And yes it's because Gwen is in the school marching band, i'm not american so the idea of a band for school is completley new to me so i'm assuming that marching band is just general school band too. Kinda taking inspiration from American Pies: Band Camp.

Sitting ontop of a building overlooking the construction zone, Spider-man glanced up from his notepad that he was writing in to look at the construction zone. After a few seconds of seeing nothing, Spider-man sighed before going back to his work.

This was how Spider-man spent the next hour and a half, sitting ontop of a rooftop, keeping an eye out for shady business and completing his half of the assignment.

'At this point I doubt Liz will even want to see my section, afterall she's been ignoring me completely over the weekend since she ran off...ugh Peter, what did you do now?' Spider-man thought to himself dejectedly before taking another glance at the construction zone, at this point he had a good idea of the layout and patrols of the supposed thugs left to guard the area but it never hurt to be cautious.

Turning back to his notepad, Spider-man finished off the paragraph he'd been writing before wiping off some imaginary sweat from his forehead.

"Done." Spider-man whispered in quiet relief as he packed away his notepad and pen before looking up at the half moon hanging in the sky.

'...I wonder what Gwen's up too tonight?' Spider-man thought to himself sadly as he gazed at the moons concealed beauty whilst he reflected on the thoughts of the woman he loved. Atleast that's what he was doing when a sudden chill went down his spine causing his eyes to start rapidly searching the area around him.

'What was that? Could've sworn my spidey sense flared to life there for a brief second...must've been my imagination.' Spider-man reasoned to himself after a moment when nothing came to attack him. Unbeknownest to him however were the pair of glaring purple eyes that never left his form.

"Now class remember, any group who fails to submit a report will face a penalty for every day it's late." Captain Stacy reminded everyone as they all walked past his desk, one member from each group placing some paper onto it before walking off.

Meanwhile Peter was busy packing away his books, by the time he was done everyone else had left and Captain Stacy was looking through the submitted assignments.

Walking up to the desk himself with his section in hand, Peter let out a light cough to grab Captain Stacy's attention, attention which he got as Stacy smiled at him.

"Yes Peter? Is everything okay?" Captain Stacy asked in slight confusion.

"...Everything's fine sir, I just wanted to submit my section of the assignment, there were some...issues, and we weren't able to pile our work together before today." Peter explained to George Stacy who looked even more confused as he turned his attention to the papers he was holding, rifling through them until he found what he wanted.

"Aha, here we are. Peter, your group has already submitted a finished paper, i've even glanced at the conclusion already, it's great." Captain Stacy said as he showed Peter the submitted assignment which was very much real, now it was Peters turn to be confused.

"What, but...Sorry i'm a bit lost." Peter admitted now that he'd seen proof of his teams finished assignment, an assignment which didn't have his section in it.

"I think I know what happened Peter, it seems one of your groupmates finished your assignment without informing you. Given the situation, and the fact that you have proof of your own work, which i will be taking, I will have enough info to correctly grade your submission." George Stacy explained with a sigh to the suprised Peter who could only hand over his paper in shock, If he had to guess who did his section then his money would sadly be on Liz.

'Great, she's so determined to ignore me that she's fine doing extra work despite how unfair it is...fuck.' Peter thought to himself as he waved goodbye to Captain Stacy, walking out the classroom door on his way to lunch in a daze.

Suddenly this daze was interrupted as his spider-sense flared to life right as he was walking past the boys bathroom but given his dazed mind he found himself responding slower than he normally would. Something which resulted in the pair of big beefy hands reaching him as they dragged him quickly into the bathroom where he was thrown to the dirty floor.

"What the...Kenny?" Peter asked shocked as he looked up at the hulking form of Kenny Kong who waved at him with a sickening grin on his face.

"Surprise!" Kenny said before he kicked Peter in the face, dazing him and sending a small amount of blood flying from his mouth. Say what you want about Kenny's intelligence, but what he lacked in brains he more than made up for in brawn. Quite a few rival schools had made this discovery on the football field too late to do anything about it.

Turning around to hopefully run out the bathroom door and to freedom, Peter saw his hopes dashed when his path was blocked by the huge form of...

"Rand!?" Peter hissed surprised and a bit fearful. Rand was never one to take part in the bullying he received, he was more of an observer, it wasn't in his nature to get involved in causing others pain so why was he here?

"Peter." Rand said angrily as he glared down at Peter. " Care to explain why mine and Sally's date night was interrupted by a bawling Liz? It took us four hours to calm her down Peter, FOUR HOURS."

Peter stared up in confusion and a bit of guilt as he reflected on Rands words, he must be referring to Friday when Liz had run off crying but try as he might he still couldn't come up with an explanation as to why that'd happened.

"I don't know Rand, honest! she just ran off after we bought some tickets to the school recital, I swear! You're not a bully, please!" Peter hurriedly said before he was kicked hard in the chest by Kenny repeatedly.

Whilst Peter was getting beaten by Kenny he failed to see the look of realization that flashed across Rands face at his words, his glare intensifying as he watched Peter be attacked.

It was times like this that Peter hated the whole secret identity schtick he had going on, he was supposed to be a weak nerd, not a superhuman superhero, whilst he got beaten by his classmates for some perceived slight.

"You're right Peter, I'm not a bully. But this? This isn't bullying, this is revenge for you hurting one of my friends." Rand explained coldly as Kenny dragged Peter by the hair over to one of the nearby toilets.

Peter could see what was coming a mile away and struggled as hard as Peter Parker should be able to but it wasn't enough. With a flash Peter found his head dunked into the filthy toilet water where Kenny held him under as he flushed the toilet.

'Need...Air...Now!' Peter thought to himself in desperation as his lungs began to fill with toilet water before he used his strength to throw his head up out of the water, the sudden force of which pushed Kenny to the floor as Peter spluttered and gasped for air before running out of the bathroom like the hounds of hell were at this ankles.

Thankfully most people were already at lunch but the few who were straggling at their lockers or hanging around the halls saw his drenched form and began whispering and snickering at him which caused Peter's cheeks to flush scarlet in embarassment. No doubt this situation would spread like crazy with Mid-town 3's rumour mill.

Peter couldn't handle the embarrassment so he just ran in hopes to get away from the stares and laughter of his classmates. Ultimately, he found himself in an empty hallway away from the crowds. Leaning up against the wall beside a door, Peter slumpted to the floor and held his head in his hands, tugging at his hair as he tried to get ahold of himself.

On one hand he'd just been embarrassed and might've died had he not forced his way up but on the other hand, he might've tipped someone off about his super strength...Gosh he was messed up, he didn't even know which mattered to him more nowadays, his health or his secret.

As the barest hint of tears found themselves building in his eyes due to his realization, Peter was abruptly distracted by the faint sound of music wafting in the air. Turning his head right and left, Peter tried to figure out where the sound was coming from and in doing so finally took in just where he'd wound up in his dash for privacy, the music hallway, particularly right outside the band room.

Blinking away the tiniest of tears, Peter urged himself to get on his feet to inspect the door on his right which led to the band room. Peter didn't know what to expect but looking in through the large window that made up half the door he saw probably the best, and worst, person to see.

Sitting in the front row with her eyes solely focussed on the music sheet infront of her as she played the saxophone was Gwen Stacy, a determined look to her face as she no doubt practised for the upcoming recital.

'Gwen...' Peter thought longingly to himself as he watched her play, moving his hand towards the door handle before it adruptly froze when a drop of water from his hair splashed onto the floor, reminding Peter of the state he was in.

'I...I can't let her see me like this.' Peter thought to himself fearfully, on one hand getting to hang out would bolster his mood considerably but on the other, the shame of being seen covered in filthy toilet water by the woman he loved was just too much.

'Plus, she's busy at the moment...I can't be selfish...' Peter thought to himself recoiling away from the door as he gazed enamored at Gwen but what he wasn't expecting was for her head to start moving causing him to panic.

A second or two passed until the door to the band room opened up and Gwen stuck her head out the door, glancing left and right down the hallway which was now empty.

"Huh...could've sworn I saw someone out here." Gwen whispered to herself confused before shrugging and going back inside the band room.

Meanwhile unbeknownst to Gwen, Peter could be seen right around the corner quietly panting from a mad dash and nerves as he tried to sneak away quietly now that Gwen had gone back inside. Maybe if he was lucky he could get a quick shower done in the boys lockeroom and just use his gym clothes for the rest of the day.

Sitting in professor Warren's science class Peter tried to ignore the chuckles from Kenny behind him and the concerned glances Gwen who was sitting on his right kept giving him.

"That's it, time's up class, if you would please pass me your test then we can all be out of here sooner." Professor Warren said as he passed by the many desks, collecting sheets at each one which he added to his pile he kept abreast.

"Actually, sir if it's not too much trouble i'd like to make an announcement to the class." Harry spoke up from his seat on Peters left drawing confused glances from everyone except Gwen and MJ who were sending Peter concerned glances.

"So long as it's nothing obscene " Professor Warren agreed to which Harry just smiled.

'Geez, what's got him in such a good mood?' Peter thought to himself in confusion as he looked at Harry happier than he'd seen him in ages, not that he wasn't happy for Harry, it was just unexpected.

"Well everyone, as i'm sure you're all aware it's been a rough year for me and I wronged alot of you in the process, so as my way of apologising i'm inviting everyone in class down to Florida next month for two weeks!" Harry explained which got cheers of joy from the gathered young adults who now had something to look forward to in the next few days given it was the end of term and the month.

Walking over to Gwen, Harry put an arm around her before continuning with his announcement ignoring her slight twitch. "Now sadly there will be shared sleeping and no that doesn't mean co-ed, it'll be same sex in the room as according to my mom, we can't be trusted not to get a bit frisky." Harry said with emphasis on the last word which got a laugh out of Kenny and Gloria who were giving each other not so discreet looks.

"Now I said nothing obscene!" Professor Warren protested which got a slight wince from Harry before he turned around to face the teacher.

"Sorry teach, forgot myself." Harry chuckled awkwardly. "But yeah that's my announcement, it's all expenses paid so no worries from anyone, all you gotta do is relax and have fun!"

Most of the class cheered one final time before starting to head out into the halls to escape school for the day, excited conversation about the upcoming trip on nearly everyones breath.

"So Harry, what's gotten you so excited about this trip?" Peter asked as him, Gwen, MJ and Harry all walked out the school gates together passing Flash who sent a weird look Peters way before walking off, probably to meet up with Sha-Shawn.

"Just looking forward to spending some time in the sun with everyone, it's been years since we were last swimming you know? Plus todays been a good day, let's enjoy it." Harry said cheerily which was completely out of left field but not unwelcome after the dour mood he'd been in since his father died.

Interestingly enough Gwen's happiness for Harry didn't reach her eyes, Peter saw a flash of something dart across them before it was gone and Peter was left wondering if he'd even seen anything at all.

Chalking it up to a trick of the light or the classic tactic of seeking someone else in misery after the day he'd had, Peter continued walking beside MJ who looked like she wanted to say something but refrained.

The quartet entered the Silver Spoon and found a table near the window where Peter and MJ sat down whilst Gwen and Harry started waiting in line, Gwen sending concerned glances towards Peter when Harry wasn't looking.

"So...Tiger, is everything al-" Whatever MJ was asking was drowned out by gasps and the TV who's volume was being increased in response to something on it.

"Good evening New York, this is Robin Scherbotski with a special bulletin report. The serial killer, believed to be the escaped Cletus Cassidy, has struck again and left a couple dead in Hells Kitchen. Details are sparse but whilst we weren't able to get a description of the state of the bodies, our on the scene reporter did manage to take a picture of a message presumably written by the killer." The TV anchorwoman explained which drew a hushed silence over the coffee shop as everyone watched with baited breath as a picture was brought up on the screen.

The afformentioned picture was a shot of the crime scene, a sheet over what appeared to be two bodies could be seen laying in the middle of the alleyway as an asian policewoman inspected the area.

On the wall beside the bodies however was a simple message. "This is only the beginning..." Peter whispered in quiet horror as he read off the message on the wall wriiten in what appeared to be blood.

'How does he keep getting away!?' Peter thought to himself angrily as he was once again reminded of his failure to catch the serial killer plaguing New York City.

The silence which had permeated the cafe was broken as the news switched to a weather report and everyone broke out into hushed whisperings as they worriedly discussed the news report.

Standing in his usual spot for the past few days, Spider-man stood on the rooftop overlooking the construction sight, a determined look to his face as Daredevil walked up silently beside him.

"You ready?" Daredevil asked simply as he awaited Spider-mans response.

"Born ready." Spider-man replied resolutely. "From what i've seen they change shifts at 18:30pm every night, it's the best time for us to sneak in but the window of opportunity won't last long. The first thing they do after a shift change is another 2 sweeps of the construction site."

"Is that so?" Daredevil said while doing some mental maths. "So we've got about five minutes until then if I am correct?"

"Bingo." Spider-man confirmed before continuing on. "I suggest we try the north entrance as it's the last place checked by the guards so we should have plenty of time to search for the documents if we move clockwise behind them."

"Agreed." Daredevil said as the duo made their way across the rooftops towards the north entrance, going the long way around to aovid being spotted by any vigilant guards roaming the construction site below.

"There they go, let's move!" Spider-man whispered to Daredevil as they both approached the construction zone quietly, slipping in under the cover of a moonless night due to the clouds concealing it.

Now that they were inside the construction zone, Spider-man and Daredevil were quick to begin searching for anything that they might gleam some information from, taking out guards they came across as they searched.

One example was just happening as Daredevil put an arm out infront of Spider-man, pointing to his ears then around the corner Daredevil succeeded in sending Spider-man the message that he should wait.

And it was a good thing he did as it gave the duo enough time to hide as a guard walked by holding an AK-47 in his hands, a strap keeping it attached to his body. Whatever the guard had been expecting it surely wasn't a baton to the head curtesy of Daredevil which knocked him unconscious.

Catching the guard before he could fall to the ground and injure himself, Spider-man and Daredevil placed him in a nearby bin where he wouldn't be easily seen should any other guards walk this way. Granted it would only last until the man regained consciousness but that was a risk they were gonna have to take.

Walking over to where the guard had come from Spider-man and Daredevil spotted something incredibly damning, a giant wooden crate which had the word exports written on it. What was a construction zone supposed to be exporting?

Deciding that question needed answering, Spider-man and Daredevil crept their way towards the crate keeping an ear out for anymore guards. Daredevil gave Spider-man the signal to check the crate whilst he was a lookout.

Quietly opening the crate Spider-mans eyes went wide at what he saw. Sitting for the world to see it were an assortment of weapons ranging from AK-R7'S to rocket launchers! All without serial codes and the worst part? This wasn't the only crate, Spider-man could remember seeing a number of similar crates around the area whilst he was staking it out and now that he knew what was inside them, well he wasn't happy.

"Weapons, tons of them scattered all over the place in big crates. Either they're hoarding them or selling them, neither option is good." Spider-man relayed back to Daredevil who clicked his tongue in frustration at the news. The situation had just grown way more complicated, rather than sneak in, find the documents and bail, they now couldn't in good conscience leave without the police confiscating these illegal weapons.

Signalling to Spider-man that he was gonna go off on his own, Spider-man correctly assumed Daredevil was going to go take out as many guards as he could quietly whilst Spider-man kept up the search for the documents.

Spotting a temporary office block Spider-man reasoned it must be the foremans office and also the most likely place to find any incriminating evidence that could expose Kingpins identity.

Creeping up to the door Spider-man made sure he wasn't spotted before walking in the unlocked door as he thanked his lucky stars that no patrols came by, Daredevil must be getting through them faster than he expected.

Now that he was inside the foremans office, Spider-man took out a tiny mini flashlight which provided enough light to let him read things but that was about it, after all one didn't want to give away their position when they broke into somewhere. This was something Spider-man had learned from the more sucessful thugs he went up against, the stealthier you are, the better chance you have of getting away.

The foremans office was nothing special, it contained a few chairs, two desks and a bunch of filling cabinets that Spider-man was particularly interested in checking out. Rifling through said cabinets Spider-man opened as many folders as he could as he tried to find something that could lead them to Kingpin. All he was seeing though was invoices and documents about other companies that were involved in the construction zone, granted this was very useful given they had now confirmed the shady going's on at the construction zone but still it would've been nice to stumble upon Kingpin's phone number or name.

"Johnson inc, Florida unlimited, Cali-conglomerate..." Spider-man read off quietly to himself as he read the documents which gave some hints as to the construction zones partners. Obviously not every company who'd donated was involved in the construction zones illegal activities after all he'd seen flipping Whole Foods on that list but it was a lead none the less.

Quickly memorising as many companies as he could Spider-man prepared to open the next cabinet when the whole foremans office shook as a large dent appeared in the wall opposite Spider-man.

Running out the door to see what had happened Spider-man saw a less than ideal sight, Daredevil was coughing and trying to pull himself out of the wall of the foremans office while the one who'd presumably done this to him stood watching with his guard up.

Standing infront of Daredevil was a man in a black cloak with a purple bodysuit full of what appeared to be kevlar padding on, his face obscured by a mask similar to Spider-mans but purple rather than red. Resting on his arms were big metal gauntlets that had razor sharp claws poking out where the fingers were, something which Spider-man made sure to keep his eyes on.

"Spider-man..." The mysterious purple stranger growled in anger at the sight of everyones favourite arachnid, his voice sounding menacing and robotic as if going through a voice modifier whilst his eyes glowed purple.

"That's me, Mr.? Grape? Yeah, what's up ?" Spider-man asked the stranger across from him much to the irritation of said individual if the louder growl was anything to go by.

"Prowler. My name's the Prowler!" The now revealed Prowler shouted in a rage as he darted towards Spider-man with unexpected speed before letting loose a haymaker directly for Spider-mans face.

"Well Prowler why don't you turn off the voice mod and we can discuss this like adults? Unless you wanna stay as the cheap Ghostface rip off?" Spider-man joked as he dodged to the side of the haymaker which cracked the ground where it hit causing Spider-mans eyes to widen.

"Blunt force and slicing damage, those gauntlets are a bit overpowered now." Spider-man said as he spun on his leg, trying to trip the prowler who simply jumped over him.

"Look who's talking." Prowler growled as clashed with Spider-man, blow after blow raining down on both of them before Spider-man decided to get some space. Shooting a line of web up to one of the contructed bottom floors, Spider-man used it to pull himself up to the higher ground hoping to get a bit of breathing room which was sadly short lived as Prowler grappled and parkoured his way up to the same floor as Spider-man.

Left, back, right, right, up, back. Spider-man dodged as many hits as he could, the few he'd had to block made his arms sting like crazy and he wasn't keen on continuing this song and dance for too much longer.

Waiting for the perfect time to strike, Spider-man was too slow to avoid the sharp claws of Prowlers gauntlet which sliced his chest thankfully not breaching the skin but still tearing his spider suit in the process.

Relived that he'd gotten away from that blow relatively unscathed Spider-man was quick to take advantage of the momentary lapse in guard from Prowler, hitting him with a roundhouse kick to the face that sent him flying back into bags of cement.

"Sorry Prowler but you'll have to get more experience before you can beat me." Spider-man said cockily as he webbed the dazed Prowler to the cement bags before running off to go check on Daredevil.

Spotting Daredevil leaning up against the dented foremans office holding his chest, Spider-man darted over to make sure his ally was okay.

"Daredevil are you good?" Spider-man asked concerned when he saw the bloody claw marks decorating Daredevils chest.

"Nothing serious, we need to get out of here, i called the police before I was attacked, they should be here any moment." Daredevil explained right as the sound of sirens could be heard in the distance approaching.

"You go, I'll give the police the run down when they get here, they already hate me, what's a few more reasons." Spider-man offered Daredevil who looked relieved before he vanished into the night, parkouring his way to whatever lair he had hopefully to get those wounds looked at.

"Spider-man." Captain George Stacy said exhausted as he walked up behind Spider-man who'd been watching where Daredevil had ran off into the night.

"Ah, Captain! Great to see you." Spider-man said cheerily. "Seems to be an illegal arms smuggling ring going on here, I trust your team can handle it?"

"Tch, cheekier than usual Spider-man, what's got you in such a good mood?" Captain Stacy said with a tired smile on his face, Spider-man got the feeling he'd had quite the intense day.

"I actually have plans tonight for once!" Spider-man replied upbeat as unbeknownst to Captain Stacy they both had the same plan that night, support someone they love.

"Well you're not the only one Spider-man, i've got some plans too, actually what time is it?..." Captain Stacy asked with a yawn as he reached into his trousers and pulled out his phone only to freak out at the time displayed.

"It's 18:40!? Sorry Spider-man I gotta go, there's somewhere I need to be for 19:00pm." Captain stacy said hurriedly which caused Spider-man to freak out aswell, after all that was when he needed to be at the ESU concert Hall aswell.

Gesturing to officer DeWolff, Captain Stacy left her in command to take over the scene whilst he headed to his daugthers recital but right as he got close to the car door and when Spider-man was just about to swing off, the radio flared to life.

"Captain please respond, we have a witness who has just entered our Mid-Town station claiming to have escaped Cletus Cassidy." This is what came across the radio causing Captain Stacy to curse loudly as he slammed his fist on the roof of his police cruiser.

"...Gwen's gonna be heartbroken..." Captain Stacy said sadly as he gazed at the ticket stuck to his dashboard before something came to mind as he turned towards Spider-man who responded before he could say anything.

"I've got her." Spider-man said simply to Captain Stacy which got a look of sincere gratitude from the man as he got into the car and Spider-man swung off towards ESU, he had someone waiting for him.

Had he been paying greater attention though he might've spotted the webbing that had been restricting the Prowler was torn and empty, blowing softly in the wind.

llllll

"Come on MJ, where are you?" Peter hissed as he read the time on his phone, 18:57pm and not a sight of MJ whilst Peter was stuck waiting outside ESU's concert hall for his awol friend. Dressed in uncle Ben's former suit, Peter paced infront of the door until a text came in.

'Can't make it, I'm so sorry.' Peter read from his phone, the text having come from MJ which was both good and bad. Bad because he was sure the more there to support Gwen the better and her father already wasn't coming but good because it meant he could stop waiting outside and actually go in.

Running up the stairs and into the buildings opulent atrium with crystal chandeliers, Peter showed the woman minding the door his ticket and was let in to the audience seating. Looking at his Ticket, Peter was on the hunt for the 31st seat in row H, a seat which seemed quite elusive much to Peter's embarassment as he saw the looks being sent his way by all these people nearby dressed in fancier clothing than he'd ever be able to afford.

What was only a minute felt like an hour but as Peter sat down into his seat he was glad to no longer be the centre of attention, saw what you want about Spider-man being an attention hog, Peter Parker wasn't.

Looking onto the empty stage Peter wondered if he'd made the right call...Spider-man really should be out there looking for Cletus Cassidy especially after a sighting of him but he just couldn't do it...for once Peter was what came first and what came first to Peter was Gwen. Peter also wondered when the curtains would rise and show the band but as he was looking at the stage, movement out of the corner of his left eye caught his attention.

Standing with her head poked out of the side and looking heartbroken into the crowd was Gwen who looked on the verge of a panic attack. Atleast that was until she spotted Peter waving like a loon trying to get her attention, a big smile on his face as he gave her double tumbs up.

The look of sorrow that had been present on Gwens face vanished like the sun illuminating the darkness as she met Peters eye and smiled before poking her head back behind the curtain.

Okay so he may not enjoy attention when he was Peter but anything was worth cheering Gwen up, even if he had to make a fool out of himself to do so it didn't matter, all that mattered was seeing Gwen smile.

The curtains rose and Peter spotted her instantly in her blue dress, his heart drawn to her as she sat there with her saxophone among the rest of the band. The music that flowed from not only Gwen but the whole band was enough to bring a tear to the eyes of some of the audience as they sat there in wonder taking in the beauty that was the bands music.

The concert lasted for two hours, two hours where Peter could finally relax and just enjoy Gwens presence, even if he wasn't a big fan of the band it would've been worth going just to see Gwens eyes light up every time they met his.

Finally at 21:00pm the concert ended with a standing ovation for the blushing band, Peter and Gwen were no exception. Peter was clapping loudly and smiling at Gwen who was blushing but smiling shyly at Peter.

Standing outside the main entrance Peter waited for Harry and Gwen to show up, not only was he excited to talk about the recital with them but he also wanted to walk them home, the thought of Cletus Cassidy being spotted in Mid-town serving to spook him a bit.

Those depressing thoughts vanished however as quick as they came due to one loving factor which had Peter turning around to face the approaching footsteps.

"Peter!" Gwen called as she jumped into his arms giving him as big of a hug as she could, completely ignoring how much she was pressing her chest into Peters. Now that Peter was closer to her he could make out the light waft of a flowery perfume and realise that her dress was the same one she'd worn on valentines day but most importantly to Peter, was the smile on her face.

"Hey Gwen." Peter said relaxed as the stress from Kingpin, Cletus Cassidy and Harry just melted off him with her in his arms. On the topic of Harry though... He probably wouldn't want them being this close so with a sigh Peter ended the hug far earlier than he would've wanted but he couldn't stay feeling down, not when Gwen was smiling back at him.

"Where's Harry?" Peter asked as he looked around outside for his 'Friends' red hair, missing the flash of anger and sadness that sparked to life in Gwens eyes before she sighed, her adrenaline high from the recital starting to wear off.

"Your guess is as good as mine Peter, neither he nor my dad showed up." Gwen said dejectedly which was understandable given the apparent situation, Captain Stacy Peter could understand as he'd been there to see why he couldn't make it but Harry and MJ too? Peter was even more glad he'd bought his own ticket for the recital, Gwen had needed someone and for once he wasn't the one bailing.

"Well i'm sure they have good reasons. How about I walk you home?" Peter asked Gwen which got a happy sigh from her.

"I'd love that." Gwen said with a smile as she interlocked her arm with Peters much to his shock.

"G-Gwen? What if someone sees us?" Peter asked cautiously as they began the walk to the bus stop which would take them to Gwens home.

"It's not like we're doing anything indecent Peter, please, just for one night." Gwen said quietly as she walked beside Peter, a conflicted look on her face that melted to reveal one of acceptance before she smiled.

"Okay." Peter whispered back in understanding before he too smiled as the duo made their way towards Gwens house, talking and laughing like old times as they paid little attention to anything that wasn't each other.

The two found themselves at Gwens front door about twenty minutes later, their arms still interlocked from when it had first happened and smiles that reached their eyes lighting both faces.

"Well here you are, make sure you text your dad that you got home safe." Peter said, the tiniest twinge of sadness colouring his tone, afterall this had been the best night of his in months, he wasn't too keen to see it end.

Gwen seemed to pause with a smile as she went to unlock her door, her back to Peter as she took a deep breath before turning around quickly and planting a kiss on Peters cheek which froze him to the spot.

"Thank you Peter. Goodnight" Gwen said with a shy smile as she blushed like crazy, walking into her house before closing the door. Meanwhile Peter had a shocked but goofy look on his face, it was only a chaste kiss but the emotions behind it were enough to light Peter's soul on fire.

So it was with a smile that Peter left the Stacy porch, making his own way home where he fell asleep and had the best night sleep he'd had in ages, nightmare free as he replayed the events of the night.
