The Trials Part One Chapter 6

now we get into the main part of not the complete main part of the story, but a good big chunk of it. This is the trial part of the story. This is part one of the trials, so that means there'll be multiple parts to carry the story along, this is where the characters start to mingle a bit and the first time Helena and Julius get to see their kids for the first time in a while even if it is brief and Ash meet his sibling for the first time all right then this will be fun

Luther

I looked around the courtyard. There were so many people here that I never went and saw most of these trials that much except when I was young and I didn't like them at the time, and I hate them even more now so now that I had to participate but not just for me but for Scarlet too I felt nervous and so did she is the first time I have seen her in a while she didn't look great either are you OK? I asked picking her hand I'm fine she said you don't feel that way to me I'm fine she said again, even though her body trembled her hands felt that way in my own. I squeezed them at least the hand that was in mine. We can do this you know that right and leans against me as much as she can because of is shorter than her bit. You know you can lean on me whenever I know what she said.

As we marched in with the high mage, I looked around at all the different people hoping to find Mom and Dad in the crowd and Riley, too. I saw them march a bit and get into place. I found myself face-to-face with my parents. I hadn't seen them in, so at least a year. And neither has Scarlet.

as the high age disappeared back into the back to where the Valdor Anns go for their private ceremony before the trials, we had some time to mingle and talk with people we approached we approached Mom and Dad as we did. Helen hugged us very close to her.

my children she said as she hugged us close I miss both of you very much we missed you too. I said Mom I can tell you haven't been eating properly. We haven't been fed much. I said no. Scarlett said nodding her head. we haven't been eating properly mama Helena.

are you gonna eat some of the food around here? Thank you even though there's not much I like of course she said I got something for you for both of you. She had us a box. What is it? Scarlett asked to open it we opened the box and Riley watched inside were two cupcakes, salt, and chocolate-covered cupcakes Scarlett sent the cupcake filling around it. It's a pretty good size cupcake mama Helena that should keep us full. You should drink some water too. Thank you thanks mom, so what was life like inside the palace we both shivered at the thought of our separation, there's not much to say why not you don't want to know Mom I said Scarlett knotted her head, mama Helena you don't want to know if you did father would be furious if you'd let us in danger especially me, but the two of you were together, right you too tell me you were not separated.

we ate slowly of our cupcakes the chocolate and sea salt flavor was delicious. It was the most delicious thing we've had in a long time in a year. We ate much during this time. We've only been here for this not a year only a few months but still, we took slow bites and drank water as we ate and drank. I think this is the best cupcakes ever. I think you're right, Scarlet I said also have something else for you. Mom handed me a bag what is it?

The hour machine had your favorite barbecue chips today. They left them in there in the quarantine zones even though they know you're in the palace. I had Riley pick them up for you when I had her pick up the cupcakes, my eyes were white, and was surprised as I opened the bag of chips, thanks mom Riley you're welcome said Riley I know that you would like these and they're good so we have a lot on our stomachs while we fight today tonight. None of these others will have a full belly unless they eat up the food on these tables but the two of you have eaten in months so you need to make sure your bodies are equipped so you can fight mom said, don't worry we got our spells up. We're now at the ultimate level. Spells Mom you don't need to worry now.

I know that but you're my baby and I don't want anything to happen. I don't want anything to happen to you too either said Riley I know I said comforting Riley will be OK little sister don't worry. you know we'll be cheering for you. Mom handed me a bundle. I was done eating my cupcake. Scarlet was still eating hers. What are you doing? I'm heading you something. I know you were eating your chips, but I need you to put those away for a moment and want you to hold something the bundle was small a kid a baby who is this your new sibling mom said this is Ash your new sibling family got to meet him. I looked into those big, purple eyes of his. They were just like mine and Mom's eyes I made a promise to him that we would win, and we would be together as a family made happy sounds and hugged me with those little arms. Scarlet was done with her cupcake. She asked if she could hold Ash too. Mom shook her head. Why not?

as is my sibling too I heard her say no come on Mom please I want to hurt him. I want Scarlet to meet Ash too. It might be the last time we might not survive these trials.

Fine Mom said heading Ash over. I headed Ash over to Scarlet. She took the baby gently. I remember her holding me that way or she told me about it. She held Ash the same way hello little one she said gently touching the baby's face. Love, Scarlet too.

are you all done with the sympathetic things? The high said coming out as the party inside was wrapping up. Scarlet handed the baby back over to Mom. I can't believe I'm letting you all do this not just the trials but the sympathetic mushy mushy stuff will not get you anywhere in these trials. He said you will not win because the world isn't made for either one of you.

you both will fail miserably. I'll guarantee that you won't. I heard Mom say I'm the high age I made Valor say don't underestimate or question me human.

I'm a natural I think Mom said you're human you live in the quarantine zone he said I'm married a human she said still you had too many children so it makes you human Come he said, grabbing our arms we were locked in the secluded garden area away from Riley and the others.

you may talk amongst yourselves, he said, but you're not allowed to leave there be dire consequences if you do like instant disqualification now I must leave.

or now left alone inside this garden area Scarlett and I stood there looking at the participants. There were a lot of them. I gave a speech about working together. If we were together, we could win most of them agreed not all, but some they not agree.

there's a little bit of arguing amongst the group. Scarlett looked at them, but she couldn't see them. You hear what he's saying if we were together, we could win if we worked as a team.

listen, teamwork isn't gonna work we're all enemies here one voice said peace and harmony aren't going to work and these types of trials. Y'all should know that by now you won't win we'll see if we can. Scarlet said I am not in agreement with her.

as everyone started, mumbling and mumbling against themselves, talking amongst themselves remembering against themselves, I sat there and what I should do. Why don't you wrap your arm around my waist? I heard Scarlet stay in my ear I did as she asked for a moment it was just the two of us for a moment.

for a moment everyone faded from view into Scarlett's eyes. I took her in for a moment feeling what I should've done or what I should do now, but I've been longing to do it for a while something I haven't gotten to do in a long time I traced her lips with my finger first, as my lips touched her, we melted more a kiss than anything else. It's been a while since we had physical contact like this she knows it feels like we're the only two in this area except others are watching probably let them look I've been wanting to kiss you for a while let me hold, you kiss you for a moment, my love Scarlett let me at least for a moment OK I heard her say I took her lips again good because I don't wanna stop for a moment we won't be able to do this for a while especially when we're fighting for our lives I feel like we were the only people here and the rest of the world faded way around us. We were lost in our world her lips felt soft, inviting..

Scarlett, I said softly huh she said huh is this good enough she knows as we stopped the world came back to reality said to her I love you Scarlett and I love you too.

maybe we'll have more of this she knows.

especially after we win, we have a lot to look forward to if we can just avoid most of the people we could do well as a great strategy Luther said if we can just avoid most of the people we could probably do well in these trials maybe we won't have to attack anyone as much that's what I'm hoping for we have our ultimate level spells. We can do this we were whispering to each other so no one could hear us.

I quickly kissed her again, and then let go. She smiled, knowing that the kiss meant more than she thought.

I felt something happened we were being teleported into the arena. I saw my mom, dad, Ash, and Riley in the non-orient session on the second platform on the second platform on the lowest platform. The masters were on the highest platform second to the Vald Dorians.

The handmaid looked down at us. Now I will announce our first challenge. He said the first challenge is the battle of the flags. First of all, I want to welcome you.
