The cover shows lyle Bolton looking boredly at his wrist watch as Jonathan crane looms over him with a hammer, jonathan is wearing his scarecrow uniform minus the mask and a pair of brown rabbit ears sit lopsidedly upon his head
The comic begins with a still photo of Arkham Asylum as a noation box informs us that today is March 1st, this date is important because it is the day that starts the game of Hare and mouse that will end in liable Bolton's death
The next panel shows jonathan crane cradling a seemingly recently broken arm, just above his head a speech bubble says the words " oh Johnny not again"
The next panel reveals that the speaker from the previous is the Mad Hatter a look of concern across his features. a speech bubble above his head has him saying, " how long are you going to let him do this to you, you know as much as I do the only way he's going to stop is if you fight back"
The next panel shows Jonathan looking quite disappointed in himself as he responds " I really want to but... This is embarrassing to say but... I'm scared if I try to hurt me to hurt more than he already has"
The next two panels are silent showing Jervis in the first deep in thought and in the second seemingly realizing the perfect solution
The next panel show Jarvis rummaging in a box under his cot, when he stands back up from it in the next he's holding a pair of fake Brown rabbit ears, wires weave in and out of the headband part of the ears
The next panel is of a picture on one of the walls of the cell, is an illustration of Jervis and jervis dressed as the Mad Hatter and March Hare respectively, the panel after that is a zoom in of the March Crow, above its head is a speech bubble revealing something Jervis is saying " if you are so scared of the pain he brings, let's make it where you can't feel pain"
The next panel is a cut to a scene of a liar Bolton sitting at lunch table eating what seems to be a turkey sandwich, the next panel is the same but a shadow looms in the background, the next two panels show The Shadow getting closer and closer
The final panel of this Montage wheels that the shadow is Jonathan a hammer lifted above his head, and was all the strength of his body he brings it down
Until Lyle's hand, the next panel is a short of liar with his mouth open in agony, and the panel after that is Lyle cradling his hammered hand with the one he was holding the turkey sandwich he was eating with, one of his eyes are closed in discomfort and the other is staring daggers at Jonathan
The next panel is of Lyle punching Jonathan in the arm that was already broken, the next reveals Jonathan just does a lip biting smirk his eyes Wild
Lyle can only let out a confused noise, jonathan uses that confusion to his Advantage grabbing Lyle's already hurt hand and was more strength than a man of his weight and size could ever he pulls one of those fingers back and doesn't stop until he is the slight pop of the finger being wrenched from its socket
His eyes grow Wilder at the sound of Lyle's screaming and and he backs away walking robotically away from Lyle as the other man craters his broken finger and the scene Cuts in the next panel to him sitting in his cell, a voice calls out to him from seemingly nowhere and it says " you did so well my darling march hair, now only nine more fingers before I permit you to kill him my darling" his head leaned back and and he closes his eyes and gives a hum as if someone is stroking his hair
And then there's a montage of panels of breaking fingers narration boxes count down the days until
March 10th, lyle has barricaded himself in his cell his hair deshoveled and his eyes vacant with fear, he looks down it is broken fingers, then there's a rusty opening sound and Lyle looks up to see
Jonathan standing at the open door of his cell a ring of keys perch Leslie in one finger, a smug smile splits the man's lips
Then comes a sequence of Silent panels switching between a step from Jonathan and Lyle whose eyes increasingly widen in horror
Jonathan looms over Lyle grabbing the hand that has the last unbroken finger, lyle wax desperately at Jonathan's face as Jonathan takes The Unbroken Pinky in a vice grip and squeezes
and squeezes
And squeezes
And squeezes
And simultaneously lyle knocks off the rabbit ears from Jonathan's head and and the finger breaks cleanly in half
Screams and Jonathan blinks confusedly, with a shake of his head he looks down to see lyle babbling in pain on the floor, and he smiles
The next panel is of Jonathan straddling Lyle his hands around Lyle's neck squeezing, those loud hits and wax at Jonathan's face and he can feel the pain
He just doesn't care, and so he squeezes
The same cuts to two days later jonathan and Jarvis sit in their shared cell, jonathan has his head in Jarvis's lab as the other man Strokes his hair, jonathan's wearing the bunny ears but they wire free
