Chapter 11: Velvette's Calling Card
April 21st. It was the evening. Me, Lars and Cattleya were discussing a potential calling card we could send to Velvette.
"So… A calling card." Cattleya said to me, "How do you think it's gonna work?"
"We should make 1 copy and then print them all on billboards around certain parts of Pentagram City." I replied, "But is 6 hands enough?"
"Heh, that's a great idea, but I have plans if that's happening."
"Don't worry, Ren, I'll help you with the calling cards." Lars said to me, "And besides, what should the calling card be about?"
"Oh! What about Velvette committing a terrible sin?"
"But which one though? Pride can't be everyone's sin."
"I think I know." I replied, "I'll tell you later, Lars."
"Ok, guess he knows what."
"And on top of that, I think we should warn Velvette as well. Once the calling card is out to the public, we'll prepare the next day afterwards, to strike."
"Woah. That's actually a pretty nice idea." Cattleya said,
"Yeah…" Lars said, "I'm liking this idea more than ever."
"Great! It settles then, you and Lars will make the calling card while I figure out a date for the calling card and copies of it to be rolled out by May 4th!"
"Wait, we need this group of our's."
"I already got one." I said, "The Phantom Thieves Of Hearts."
"Ah! Because we steal the hearts of rotten adults and criminals down here in Hell!" Cattleya said, "This is already a fantastic plan! I'm loving this!"
"Same here!" Lars said, "Phantom Thieves Of Hearts!"
"Maybe we should keep it simple for these calling cards. Like we end it with, "From, The Phantom Thieves." Or something like that."
"That's good." I said, "We'll make sure everything is good enough to share with the public."
"Let's do this!" Cattleya happily said,
I have started to make a team.
Many months later. Bernie was still interrogating me.
"So… These calling cards…" He said, "They go out to who you and your team think are the nastiest demons down here."
I was silent.
"And much like your team, these calling cards evolve." Bernie continued, "Tell me how that happened."
Back to the present moment. A voice spoke to me.
"I am thou... Thou art I…
Thou hast acquired a new vow...
It shall become the wings of rebellion
That breaketh thy chains of captivity.
With the birth of the Fool Persona
I have obtained the winds of blessing that
shall lead to freedom and new power…"
My team and I have formed a big bond together. This bond will only get bigger when we add new members to our rising team to change Hell, our way.
April 26th. 5 days have passed. I was helping out with Lars on the calling card, working with Rosie and Charlie for more money, and going to a gym recently. There, today was the day that Cattleya decided that we'll send out the calling cards. We chose somewhere next to the private club where Velvette and her Overlord friends went to hide during Extermination Day.
I was with a group of demons as Lars placed these calling cards in a wall next to the private club.
"What the hell is this?" One demon said,
"Who in sweet Satan are The Phantom Thieves?" Another wonder, "And Velvette would never do such a thing!"
Cattleya walked to me.
"I see that you chose a good spot." She said as she looked at the calling cards. "Here, let me see how'd you and Lars do…"
Cattleya then took a closer look at the calling cards and what they read. One one side, there's a logo of some evil face with a hat with the caption: "TAKE YOUR HEART" and on the other side was the message that reads:
"Overlord Velvette,
The Fame Consuming Sinner of Gluttony
We know how shitty you are as you use your image to farm more fame and to control the lives of those that are a lower class than you. That's why, we decided to steal away your distorted desires and make you confess your sins with your own mouth. This will be done tomorrow, so you best be prepared.
From, The Phantom Thieves."
"Wow." Cattleya said to me, "Just wow."
Me and Cattleya then walked to Lars who was next to a car.
"Well? How did we do?" Lars asked,
"You boys did good." Cattleya replied, "But that logo needs some improvements."
"Look, I'm not an artist. Neither is Ren, but this is only a stepping stone to change Hell!"
"Heh, you do have a point."
"So, what now?" I asked Cattleya,
We overheard the crowd.
"Are the rumors really true about Velvette?" One demon asked, "What's with this weird ass logo?"
"Tsk, it sounded like an idiot trying to be an adult!" Another said,
"What the fuck are they gonna take from an Overlord?!" Another demon wondered, "And how will they do it?!"
Cattleya giggled.
"We really got them excited!" She said, "So yeah, Lars, this is a stepping stone!"
Then, we saw a limousine driving by and stopped. We saw Velvette there with a news anchor in a gas mask.
"Oh shit! Hide!" Lars shouted,
We hid behind a car.
"Teh, look at this." Cattleya quietly said as Velvette angrily got out of the car with a news anchor in a gas mask. "A predictable reaction to someone who knows what we mean by distorted desires."
"Yeah." Lars said quietly, "It hit her pretty hard."
"Really hard." I said, quietly.
We watch a news anchor give out the news with Velvette.
"Good evening, 666 News, I am Tom Trench!" Tom said, "And I am here with Overlord Velvette on a serious manner. It seems that a mysterious sudden group known as The Phantom Thieves have made these calling cards on Overlord Velvette for her, "Distorted desires on fame!" Overlord Velvette, what do you have to say about these Phantom Thieves and how will you handle this?"
Tom then placed the microphone over Velvette.
"I have two things to say to these so-called Phantom Thieves here." Velvette angrily replied, "First off, this is Hell, don't try to take away my sins for no good reasons! Secondly!"
We all got migraines as we saw some static and then saw Velvette's Shadow.
"I'll make sure you thieves get what's deserved during the time being, so just you wait!" She said,
Our visions went back to normal as we saw the original Velvette.
"Is there anything more you like to say, Overlord Velvette?" Tom asked,
"No." Velvette replied, "I'm busy."
Velvette then walked away, angrily.
"Yup…" Cattleya said as Velvette wasn't in our sight anymore, "Judging from Velvette's response, this might have an effect on her palace in the Cognitive World."
"That means the treasure will appear physically, right?" Lars asked,
"That's right, but we have ONLY one day for that to happen, and that's today. Unfortunately, calling cards can't be repeated, so we got the whole day to steal Velvette's treasure and give her a change of heart."
"What?! Why today?! Shouldn't it be tomorrow like on the calling card?!"
"Yeah, but, we're Phantom Thieves. We gotta steal it now to have Velvette affected tomorrow."
"Oh, makes sense. Anyways, let's get to it."
It's time to steal Velvette's heart.
