Chapter 13: Changing Velvette's Heart, Part 2

We ran out of Shadow Velvette's mansion, or palace as we now call it.

"Keep running if y'all want to survive!" Cattleya shouted,

"Entrance! Dead ahead!" Lars shouted, "Let's go!"

As we escaped, the palace crumbled to rubble and returned to the real world. We were all out of breath.

"Holy shit…" Lars said as he was out of breath, "That was crazy…"

Cattleya then felt her phone vibrating. She checked out a notification from The metaNav.

"Guys! Check your metaNav app on your phones!" She said,

Me and Lars checked out and saw Velvette's Mansion was no longer there.

"This destination has been deleted." A voice said from the app,

"Looks like we really did it." I said, "Now we can't visit there anymore."

"Damn…" Lars said, "So… Did we get the treasure?"

I got out the treasure, which was a golden phone case.

"We did get the treasure." I replied,

"Well, a golden phone case." Cattleya said, "Yup, it's made out of real gold!"

"Why not the phone itself?" Lars wonder,

"Because that golden phone to show it off to her audience alone wasn't enough. So that phone case we have right there is a definition of Velvette's desires."

"Huh… So, with that phone case out of the way, did we change Velvette's heart?"

"Probably. She's gonna get a psychotic breakdown and a mental shutdown, and then, once she collects herself, she'll have a change of heart."

"So I guess we might as well wait, huh?"

"We might as well." I said, "Sooner or later, she will change. Let's wait."

We all nodded as we headed home.

Fast forwarding to May 4th. It was morning, Lars, Cattleya and I were eating breakfast together in Café du Pécheur. We were also looking at our phones.

"She's still private on Voxtagram…" Lars said, "What is she plotting?"

"I thought it was Sinstagram." I said,

"Nah, Vox Videos bought Sinstagram. And now they made it Voxtagram."

"Guess I'm not the only one confused about this." Cattleya said, "I sure hope she's not secretly trying to expose us."

A Snake Demon quickly slithered to us.

"Hey!" She said to us, "Look at this!"

"Look at what?" I asked,

"I followed Velvette's Voxtagram and she privated it!" She replied, "Recently she made this video yesterday and uploaded it today!"

"What's it about?"

"Just watch! It's crazy!"

The Snake Demon then showed us the video from Velvette's Voxtagram. It seemed that she was in a different mood.

"Hi everyone, it's Velvette." Velvette softly said, "And today I was gonna say something about some familiar people I wanted to expose a while ago, but I changed my mind on that and I want to talk about something that's been bothering me."

Velvette sadly looked down.

"I've made some horrible decisions while on this site." She said, "I've publicly humiliated many lives down here for my popularity and to make them suffer. Plus, before I became an Overlord, I've dumped someone for my popularity and left them in the dust."

Velvette then closed her eyes and looked away.

"I've even been the reason why someone ended their life due to harassment!" She shouted in sorrow, "And I was silent on these topics while I was focusing on my egotistical popularity!"

Tears flowed from her eyes.

"Apologies…" She said as she wiped her tears, "I've hurt a lot of people in my online fame."

Velvette sniffed.

"And as an Overlord, I'm gonna be stepping down and turning myself in for my crimes." She said, "Val, Vox, I'm sorry guys… I gotta do what's right. To my fans, stop what you're doing. And… Thanks for your support. This is my last post here. Goodbye."

The video ended.

"Wow…" Cattleya said as she, Lars and I were shocked, "That just happened."

"Yeah!" The Snake Demon said, "It's crazy! I wasn't expecting an Overlord to confess to their crimes!"

The Snake Demon sighed and hissed freely.

"The Phantom Thieves surely did something…" She said, "I guess they were for real…"

The Snake Demon slithered away as Lars, Cattleya and I were speechless.

"I can't believe this!" Lars said, "Velvette really did have a change of heart!"

"And it worked surprisingly well, meow!" Cattleya said,

"I was as shocked as you guys." I said,

Cattleya then eats some of her breakfast while thinking.

"Hmm, maybe if we can persuade the Shadow without killing it, then we'll send it back to the real self and boom! Change of heart!" She said,

"So no killing and just an act of revenge?" Lars said, "I liked that."

"Me too." I said,

"Hey, boys, you're not gonna eat your breakfasts whike we stall?" Cattleya asked us all of a sudden, "It's getting cold."

"We know." Lars said as he and I went back to eating it.

Back at The Hazbin Hotel, Vaggie meanwhile was looking at her phone, shocked.

"Damn…" She said, "That bitch really did confess to everything. But this is Hell, how the fuck did she even–"

I came in.

"-Ren!" She said, "Can we talk?"

"Oh, yeah." I replied,

Later…

"So you saw it too?" I asked Vaggie,

"Yeah…" Vaggie replied, "Velvette confessed to her crimes and even mentioned me without my name."

"You used to date her, right?"

"Yes, when we were college dropouts. We were supposed to start a rock band, but were promoted to being an Overlord after her popularity skyrocketed on the internet. Then, she split the band and even broke up with me over it."

"There's schools in Hell?"

Vaggie share a laugh.

"Yeah, you never thought of that?" She asked, "Damn, you're something for a new demon here."

I straightened my glasses.

"So, you want to know who's my next crush?" Vaggie asked me,

"Who is it? I wonder,

"Do you promise me not to tell anyone? If you do, I'll fucking kill you."

I was shocked.

"Yeah." I replied, "I promise."

"Ok…" She said as she took a deep breath, "It's Charlie."

"Oh… Ok."

"You don't care?"

"No, I promise I'll not tell anyone since you told me who you like."

Vaggie laughed again.

"You're not bad, Ren." She said, "You and Charlie are better to talk to than that dick sucker and that… Radio Demon."

"Angel Dust and Alastor?" I asked,

"Yeah, those two. At least for Husk, he understands my pain. Niffty is Niffty."

"I never met them before."

"Here, I'll introduce you to them, sounds good?"

"Sounds good to me."

I have formed a bond with Vaggie.

Fast forwarding to many months later. Bernie was still interrogating me.

"I know for a fact that there was a group of people that would believe in your so-called justice." He said to me, "A certain individual would know about this since they're quite the talk of the town.

I was silent.

"Got anything to say about that?" He asked me,

Back to the present moment, a voice spoke to me.

"I am thou... Thou art I…

Thou hast acquired a new vow...

It shall become the wings of rebellion

That breaketh thy chains of captivity.

Me and Vaggie have formed a bond together. She may seem antsy, but she's a helpful companion for my journey to change Hell for the greater good.

"Well, it's been nice talking to you." Vaggie said, "See ya."

Vaggie walked away.
