Chapter 15: Mementos
May 11th. Me and Lars were with Cattleya.
"So there's a "Phantom Phan-site" created by a Hellhound from Gluttony?" Cattleya asked,
"Yeah." Lars replied, "Someone told me about it a while ago."
"I have it up on my phone." I said,
"Let me see it." Cattleya said as she went into her phone and looked it up. "Wow, it really is real. What a surprise."
"There's a lot of people that want us to steal the hearts of someone that's torturing their lives." Lars said,
"Hey, Ren, you decide who we should steal and I'll tell you all what's next."
I scroll through the page of those that want us to steal the hearts of those that are ruining their lives and saw something.
""My daughter has turned into horrible young woman!" I read "She kept bullying others and destroying other people's property! As a single mother, I'm trying my hardest to make her behave, but it's difficult due to her reckless behavior! Please steal her heart so that she can change!" Huh, maybe this will do?"
"So a mother is trying her hardest to take good care of her daughter, but the daughter ended up becoming a savage brute?" Lars said, "I guess that could work."
"We'll try that out." Cattleya said, "Which is the perfect time for me to tell you about Mementos."
"Wasn't it the place where your parents used to go to as Phantom Thieves?"
"That's right! Ren, go to the metaNav app and enter the keyword, Mementos."
"On it." I said as I opened up the metaNav app, "Mementos."
"Results found." The app said, "Beginning navigation."
"Woah! It worked?" Lars said,
"Still works after all these years!" Cattleya said, happily,
We entered Mementos. Our outfits have changed into our Phantom Thief clothes.
"Well, here we are!" Cattleya said, "Mementos! The place that's overrun by Shadows and was responsible for the death of my parents!"
"And we've changed clothes?" Lars said as he looked at his clothes,
"So, where's the mother's daughter's palace at?" I asked, "Her daughter's name is Queenie Sass."
"In Mementos, it's everyone's palace." Cattleya replied, "Everyone shares a portion of this place."
"So… Does that mean that we also share this place?" Lars asked,
Cattleya chuckled a bit.
"Nah." She replied, "But that would be cool to kick your Shadow's ass if that happened to you."
Lars sighed.
"Anyways, how do we get to Queenie's palace?" He asked,
"Simple!" Cattleya replied as she walked over to an alleyway, "Wait right there, boys!"
We then heard a honk as a truck drove out. Cattleya came out of the truck.
"Ta-da!" She shouted, "Introducing The Phantom Truck!"
"It's a truck." Lars said,
"It is! Anyways, Joker, you're driving! I'll be your co-pilot! Wonder! Sit behind Joker!"
"Ok, Pirate."
"And also, don't look behind me. Just don't."
"I won't."
We all entered the truck.
"This reminds me of something." I said, "Before I died, I had a member who was a cat, but wasn't really a cat. He can turn into a real life cat in the real world and a truck in the Earth version of Mementos."
"Wow, and you know how to drive that truck there?" Lars asked,
"Yes."
"Then this will be a piece of cake!" Cattleya said, "So rev it up, Joker! We have a heart to steal!"
I started up the engine.
"You don't need a license to drive this truck, huh?" Lars said,
"Apparently not." I replied,
I drove in the dark cities of Mementos. We looked around and saw some wandering Shadows.
"There's a lot of Shadows here." Cattleya said, "But I think it's best not to bump into one of them while we continue our ride."
"Are these Shadows resembling the people in Hell?" Lars asked,
"I don't know, to be honest. Mementos is such a mystery."
We arrived at a small area where an Imp's Shadow was waiting for us.
"Is that Queenie Sass?" Lars asked,
"That's her!" Cattleya replied, "But that's her Shadow!"
Shadow Queenie looked at us.
"What the fuck are you fuckers looking at?!" She shouted, "My bitch of a Mom is trying to make me look bad in front of my friends!"
"Yup, she's just like those out of control teenagers on those shows." Lars said,
"Out of control my ass!" Shadow Queenie shouted, "I can do whatever I want and I don't need any guidance!"
Shadow Queenie turned into a Shadow resembling a wolf and howled at us.
"Alright, let's take her down!" Cattleya shouted,
Lars went first and summoned his Persona, Mad Hatter.
"Burn 'em, Mad Hatter!" He shouted,
Mad Hatter then shot out Agi flames at Shadow Queenie, but she avoided them and launched at Cattleya.
"Anne Bonny!" Cattleya shouted as she summoned her Persona and skewered the shadow with her swords.
"Now!" I shouted,
We performed an all out attack on it. Lars inflicted the final blow.
Shadow Queenie returned to her normal state.
"Ok, I'll become a good person again." She said with sorrow as she disappeared into the light. "I'm sorry…"
I grabbed a light orb and absorbed it.
"Huh, well that's different." Cattleya said, "It seems that we changed the heart of someone who's not a major threat."
We then went back to the real world. Cattleya looked at me.
"Hey, Ren, you did good." She said, "Same goes to Lars. In fact, we all did good."
"Thanks." I said,
"Keep up the good work, Leader."
Cattleya winked at me. My bond with Cattleya has slowly grown.
