Chapter 37: Changing Vox's Heart, Part 2

Shadow Vox was then returned to his normal self as he curled up like a ball. Boris and Selene walked over to him.

"Hey! Get away from me!" Shadow Vox shouted, "You won, for now! Just leave me be so that I can get you again later!"

"There won't be a later." Boris said,

"Yeah, your terror as Overlord, CEO and murdering behind backs is over!" Selene said, "The fact that you decided to take away lives for a disgusting reason is vile! Give us a true explanation or else something inside you is gonna haunt you forever!"

Shadow Vox looked away.

"Fine…" He said, "But first, take this treasure that I've kept hidden…"

The treasure was brought down by a crane. It was a robotic shark. The shark looked cute though.

"This treasure represents my pet shark, Fark…" Vox said, "He was a pet that I treated like a best friend… He passed away before this shitty Hazbin Hotel even came to be…"

"So the loss of your pet is what made you kill everyone that gave you unknown grudges…" Lars said, "Never would have thought of that…"

I got the treasure in my hands.

"You brats weren't the only ones that tried to steal my treasure…" Shadow Vox said, "This thief with a black mask…"

"Huh?!" Cattleya said, "Another thief was here before us?!"

The palace then started to shake.

"Ok! We have to get out of here!" Willow said, "Come on!"

Shadow Vox then watched us leave. Boris and Selene were stopped by Shadow Vox.

"Wait!" Shadow Vox said, "What am I gonna do now?!"

"How about you do us a favor and confess to all the crimes you've committed." Boris said,

"And don't even think about running away from them again." Selene said,

"But how?!" Shadow Vox said,

"Stop letting us do all of your work, you lazy blockhead." Boris said,

Boris and Selene then ran away to keep up with us. The palace was crumbling as Shadow Vox was confused.

"WAIIIIIT!" He shouted,

We escaped Vox's Palace and returned back to the original world of Hell. I went on my phone to go to the metaNav app to check on his palace since we're outside of Vox Videos.

"The destination has been deleted." The metaNav app said,

"So… We did it?" Boris wonder,

"Indeed we did!" Cattleya replied, "We have stolen the treasure from the last of The VVVOverlords!"

"What is the treasure anyways?" Lars wonder,

I got out the treasure.

"It's a television screen." I replied, "And it matches Vox's color…"

"Huh? Maybe that's the same TV he uses to watch over us all with his bullshit." Boris said,

"Now we won't have to worry about it anymore." Selene said,

"Correct!" Cattleya said, "Because we have until July 9th for his confession of his crimes."

"And what do we do with the TV?"

"We can try and sell it like the other treasures so that no one finds us suspicious." Willow replied,

"That always works." Cattleya said, "Come on. Once we've done that, we're heading home!"

Our team's bond has slowly grown by then.

I later arrived home at The Hazbin Hotel. Charlie was looking at me like she saw a ghost.

"Ren!" Charlie said, "How was your time out?"

"Good." I replied, "Thanks."

I walked away to my hotel room. Charlie smiled nervously. As I left, Charlie took a deep breath.

"Oh father help me…" She said, "But you've gone insane, so you won't help me."

Alastor appeared.

"July 9th is where Vox will tell you about The Phantom Thieves." He said, "However, I saw him acting differently. He might have changed plans all of a sudden."

"Those Phantom Thieves…" Charlie said, "No… Ren and his friends… There's gotta be something we don't know…"

July 3rd. I was texting my friends after a shift here in The Hazbin Hotel.

"Didn't Vox's Shadow say something about another Phantom Thief?" Willow texted,

"He did." Cattleya texted, "But I don't have any clues on who that could be."

"It's a mystery for me too." I texted,

"But I don't think it matters at this moment." Boris texted, "Because in 6th days we got Vox's confession. I heard from a member of my pack that a press conference is happening the following morning instead of a morning show."

"Didn't he cancel all of his shows recently?" Lars wonder,

"He did." Selene replied, "I looked it up."

"Beat me to it as usual." Willow texted,

"Well let's just hope we did good." I texted,

July 9th. Downtown Pentagram City. A few sinners were watching Vox on the big screens of a few building.

"Hey, look at Overlord Vox!" One sinner said,

"Is he crying?" Another sinner wondered, "Why is he crying? I thought he had a morning show, but it got canceled!"

"Shh! He's about to speak!" Another sinner said,

Vox was live from a press conference. He had tears in his screen face.

"I… I have done a lot of terrible things behind so many backs…" Vox said with regret, "The overworked employees… The accidents… The repetitive talking down on others… I did it all…"

Vox started crying.

"I killed everyone during those accidents because of my own stupidity and my grudges for no reason!" He shouted in sorrow, "How… How could I forgive myself for what I've done?!"

Vox continues his breakdown.

Outside of Pentagram City, everyone was confused.

"Teh, what a baby." One sinner said, "That's an Overlord right there, everyone!"

Tom Trench came on the big screens.

"And that was a press conference being held by the former Overlord and former CEO of Vox Videos, Vox." Tom Trench said, "Recently he has canceled his shows and stepped down as CEO and Overlord to turn himself in for the crimes he has committed. He also created an infamous record for most murders done by a single individual in Hell."

Some of the sinners were surprised.

"It was him that was behind those accidents, huh?" One sinner said, "Makes sense due to those electrical shocks you see every now and then…"

"On top of that, Vox Videos was bought out by Sinternet Studios CEO Megan Byte." Tom Trench continued, "She even changed the names of the company and websites that were bought by Vox Videos to their original and new names to avoid any more controversies."

"So that explains those sites being changed." Another sinner said,

"Plus, King Of Hell and Ruler of the Pride Ring, Lucifer Morningstar has gone mad after 3 of his top Overlords have turned themselves in for their crimes. And it was thanks to The Phantom Thieves."

"The Phantom Thieves?!" One sinner said, "First Velvette, then Valentino and now Vox?!"

"What is going on in Hell?" Another sinner wonder,

A shark demon was watching the news from below.

"The Phantom Thieves, huh?" He wondered as he walked away.

A young Goetia demon was also watching the news from below.

"They've done it again…" He said as he walked away.
