Chapter 85: Lucifer's Change Of Heart
Shadow Lucifer was seen returning to normal in his knight armor as the ring from his magic disappeared. He was on his knees.
"Damn it…" He said as he looked at his hands, "...What have I done? Why did I let my ego get the best of me?"
We walked to him as he then looked at us.
"Quick enough for you to understand your errors." Boris said,
Shadow Lucifer sighed in disbelief.
"I've treated everyone in Pride like shit…" He said, "My rules were corrupt and were meant to make everyone suffer… I'm deeply sorry for what I did…"
Back in the real world, Lucifer then felt a big pain in his head.
"Graaaah! No! They've already done it!" He shouted,
"Your Majesty, what's happening?!" One of his guards asked him,
"It's a mental shutdown! They cannot toy with the creation by its creators!"
A doctor came by with a bottle of pills.
"Your Majesty, Sloth's latest." He said to Lucifer, "For the mental shutdowns and psychotic breakdowns."
"Give it to me!" Lucifer shouted as he snatched the bottle from the doctor, "If I'm going down, I'm gonna take The Phantom Thieves with me! For the sake of Pride and all of Hell!"
Lucifer took some pills from the bottle. After doing so, he felt weak and collapsed to the floor.
"Lucifer!" The doctor shouted as he turned to the guard, "Get the other guards! Lucifer has collapsed!"
"On it!" The soldier said as he left,
Back in The Cognitive World, the palace started to shake.
"Shit! We're shaking!" Cattleya shouted,
"Wait! Before you go!" Shadow Lucifer shouted as he showed us a golden apple, "Take this, it's a prized possession of mine in the family for years."
I got a hold of it.
"And in return, you better confess to your crimes." I said,
"Oh don't worry, I have plans to do so." Shadow Lucifer said as he faded away into darkness, "I'm always a step ahead of you delinquents!"
Shadow Lucifer was no more as the palace started to crumble.
"Come on!" Cattleya shouted, "We're getting out of here!"
We left the palace and headed back to the real world. There, we were outside of Lucifer's domain as I looked at my phone to activate the metaNav app and see if Lucifer's palace was still there.
"The destination has been deleted." The app said,
"Yes! We did it! We stole the treasure from Lucifer's palace!" Cattleya shouted,
"What does it look like though?" Arthur wondered,
I showed them what it looked like. It was some sort of golden rubber ducky.
"Does Lucifer really like ducks?" Lars wondered,
"Guess so." I replied,
"Well, guess Charlie always wanted a rubber ducky, so…" Cattleya said, "Guess we'll give it to her then."
"Still! We changed Lucifer's heart and that's all it matters!" Boris said,
"Right! Come on, let's head home!"
Our team's bond has grown stronger than ever.
December 3rd.
It's been about a week since we changed Lucifer's heart. Let's see if that does anything today.
Lucifer had a short press conference to talk about what's been going on.
"Hello all of Pride and beyond." He said in a calm tone, "The reason why I held this little conference was for something that I want to talk about recently.
Lucifer sighed.
"First off, I wanted to confess to my corrupt choices recently." He said, "The increase of security and the limitations on my Sinners here was to torture and make the lives of those in Pride worse."
"Huh?" One journalist said,
"Secondly, I am responsible for assisting in some homicidal acts caused by Overlord Vox, plus I am solely responsible for the murder of Dr. Nancy Kilobite and James and Beverly Dovmain, only because of their acts to try and expose my for my true nature."
"Impossible!"
"This is Lucifer's true colors?!" Another journalist shouted,
"And… I did it all because of my issues with The Phantom Thieves…" Lucifer replied, "They're right, they change the heart of criminals, and I am unfortunately one of those criminals… I put myself, my daughter and my whole family in danger due to my actions…"
Lucifer took a deep breath as chatter arose.
"Which is why!" He said, silencing anyone, "...Starting today, I will no longer take charge as Ruler of Pride and King of Hell. I am going to let my only daughter, Charlotte Morningstar take charge. She will take effect in the next week, but she'll learn from her uncles and aunts and her mother. I am going to take responsibility for my crimes by turning myself in for them. That is all for today."
Everyone watching below were shocked.
"No way! They changed Lucifer's heart?!" One Sinner shouted, "Hell yeah!"
"They?" One Hellborn wondered,
"The Phantom Thieves!" Another Sinner said,
"Oh, I thought they were a myth."
"Myth? What do you mean by a myth?"
Later tonight, me and my friends were in Cattleya's apartment, having a toast to changing Lucifer's heart and Hell for the greater good. Blitzø and Bernie were there with us.
"Ahem, ok, so I would like to make a toast to these little delinquents that fucking made a literal sin confess!" Blitzø shouted, "Like shit, how did you manage to pull that one off, Ren?"
"Takes power." I replied,
"Heh, guess that's a reasonable answer." Bernie said, "But still, Personas? Going into another world through an app on your phone? Bizarre as fuck."
"Sorry if Charlie couldn't make it." Arthur said, "She was busy trying to become the next ruler of Pride. Her mother Lilith is gonna become the Queen of Hell just to have Charlie get an easier job."
"Fair enough." Cattleya said, "She does have a life like us after all."
"Anyways, now that you all dealt with Lucifer, how are you gonna manage Paimon before Extermination Day?" Bernie wondered,
"Wait, what?"
"Extermination Day is still gonna be on December 24th of this year."
"He didn't bother to change it?!"
"Unfortunately no. It's part of a rule where if you announce something related to Extermination Day, you'll have it locked in."
"Well that's some bullshit!" Lars shouted, "How in sweet Satan are we gonna survive Extermination Day when Paimon has something up his sleeve?!"
"Don't know… But still, let's not get a hold of ourselves. We really gotta make sure that–"
Then, we heard a crash!
"What was that?!" Selene shouted,
"Let's check outside!" Boris replied, "It came from outside, yeah?"
