Greetings, Mgunnels3 here, and welcome back to Ash's Kanto Journey, My Version. Before we begin, I want to clarify some things before we start this chapter. The first is about romances for Ash and any other romance options for Pokemon of Ash's. I don't think about having one for Ash in this story, namely cause when it comes to human shipping for him, it could be better. As for Ash's Pokemon, the story is still early for that, but if any of the requests for it come up, I'll think about it. Speaking of which, I have already gotten one, and I am thinking of doing that already, but a little later in the story, I'll go into further detail when the chapter is over. Let's get this chapter started.
Chapter 2: Flocks and Poachers
"Human Speech"
"Pokemon Speech"
We join our hero Ash as he just arrived on the first route outside his hometown, his first step on his adventure.
"Man, what a view it will take a few days from here to get to Viridian City, where I can rest for a bit and figure out where to go next," Ash said to Charmander, who was taking on the sites of the primary of route one as she's new to the region as Ash sighs. "So, you have spent most of your life in Johto before your father asked you to be my Pokemon, right?" Ash asked Charmander, who sighed and shrugged.
"Look, Ash, I'm only three years old here, and that's usually the age that most members of my line start as starter Pokemon, but to answer your question, yes, I did," Charmander said as Ash was walking up on the hill near the big tree as he was listening. "It's a preservation that is only known to my evolutionary line, so sadly, I don't have to say about my life outside of now," Charmander said to Ash, who nodded.
"I've heard of that place you are talking about. It's the Charizific Valley my brother talked about the last time I spoke with him, and that makes sense age-wise for you since it's been that long since he left for Johto. Uh, no offense. I know that females aren't privy to talking about age and all that, so I hope that I don't offend you," Ash said to Charmander, who shook her head.
"No, it's fine. I mentioned my age in case it came up later. When I evolve, only mention my weight if it's another Pokemon. Just a fair warning," Charmander said to Ash, who nodded.
"Fair enough, so given that we will be battling and all that, do you know your moves, what you have, and know them? I'm asking 'cause I don't want to look them up now that I can understand what you are saying and knowing that it would be fair to ask anyway," Ash said as Charmander nodded.
"Yeah, It's Dragon Claw, Flame Burst, Dragons Dance, and Dig. I inherited my offensive capabilities from my father," Charmander said to Ash as he thought and remembered something.
"I remember my brother owns a Dragonite. It wouldn't happen to be your mother, would it?" Ash asked her, who nodded. "I can tell that they have been on the team the longest compared to everyone else. By the way, do you prefer to be addressed as Charmander, or do you have a different name in mind? I'm sure that not all Charmanders are named that, right?" Ash asked Charmander, who smiled as Ash wasn't as dumb as she thought he was when she first met him.
"It's Flare. It's my personality and how you saw me when my tail flame burst when we started earlier. Still, I'll go by Charmander unless we are fighting against another member of my line, and fine with it in battle, but only that," Flare said to Ash, who nodded.
"Fair enough, Flare, so let's get started and see if we can find any Pokemon to catch or join the team when you're ready for that, of course," Ash said to Flare, who nodded as the two looked around as they didn't know it, but they were being watched in the leaves on the tree. Something caught Flare's attention that was on the group nearby.
"Ash, something is over there?" Flare pointed out as he noticed as well. They ran over to the said Pokemon, who was a Spearow and was injured. Ash was careful to pick up the little guy. "Be careful. Ash Spearows are infamous for attack trainers," Flare said.
"We can't just ignore those who need help, that's for sure. Flare, look in my bag and get some a Potion that my mom packed in there just in case," Ash said to Flare, who was taken aback but nodded as she looked through his backpack. She did get a good look at most of what Delia packed for Ash and found it as Ash happily took it.
"Thank, Flare," Ash turned to the young Spearow. "This may sting, but it should help you with your wounds," Ash said as he carefully sprayed the potion on the injured Spearow, who winced a bit but was fine so far and regained consciousness and looked at the ones who helped him.
The Spearow was about to say something as a few Spearows were in the area and saw the young Spearow injured and in Ash's arms and was about to attack Ash and Flare, which Ash noticed.
"Wait, hold on, we didn't do this to the little one. We just arrived here and wanted to help," Ash said to some of Spearow's flock members.
"A likely story, human, most members of flocks nearby are going missing, and you just happened to spot our leader's son injured and try to help him. What game are you playing," one of the Spearow said to Ash as Flare was about to step in, but Ash stopped her.
"Not worth causing issues with them, girl, and I'd rather show that I mean what I say," Ash said to his starter, who nodded as Flare was about to say something, only for a female voice to call out to the flock.
"That's enough; I highly doubt a new trainer like him would be capable of doing some damage like that to my son, who is on the scouting mission," A Fearow said, landing next to Ash and Charmander. Both were surprised. "Besides, given that humans are involved with what is going on right now, we need the extra help anyway, so leave them be," the leader said to the group, who nodded and returned to the nest.
"Mom, I appreciate that you stopped them before they could do anything," Spearow said to his mother, who nodded.
"Look, we don't want any trouble. As you said earlier, we just started our journey just a few hours ago and spotted your son injured," Ash said to the Fearow, who nodded. "Before you ask, I have a translator to understand you all, so this might clear some air up and any issues," Ash said, pointing to his ear.
"I believe that for now, my flock may not trust humans, but I do as an active flock leader; I'll explain what is going on when we get to the nest. Just keep your starter on a leash, as you humans call it, or in her ball just in case," Fearow said to Ash and Flare, who wanted to start an argument with her, but it's not a good move, but let it be.
The group headed towards Fearow's flock as her son was on Ash's hat. Something from how Fearow was acting told Ash that Fearow belonged to a trainer on how fast she picked up on how Ash acted and all that, as did Flare. Most of the flock members stared at Ash and murmured about whether he could be trusted as Ash sighed.
"They could be at least more discreet about it, given that I can understand them and all that," Ash said quietly to the group as Charmander sighed and nodded.
"Then again, they weren't there when you told the leader about that, so watch your words well with the group. Just remember that not all Pokemon trust humans or want to be with trainers, especially with newer Pokemon showing up lately," Flare warned Ash, who nodded.
"My mom's flock has dealt with poachers and all that in the past, so we kinda have bad experiences with them. Most were brought here by poachers, and my mom saved most of them," the Spearow said to Ash and Flare.
"Right now, everyone, he's under my watch until further notice, and we need any help we can get right now. Until then, scout out and find those poachers for our flock's sake before it's too late," Fearow said as most scouts nodded and took off.
"Fearow, you said both flocks I took that yours wasn't the only one in trouble?" Ash asked Fearow, worried about what was going on. "If it is poachers, we can do our best to help even though I don't have a team yet. However, I need to know what's going on first." Ash asked the leader, who nodded as she was about to say something, only to hear one of the scouts alert that another leader was coming into the flock as a Pidgeot flew over to the group.
"You're getting your answer now, human," Fearow said to Ash before turning to the male Pidgeot, who looked more worried than wanting to cause issues.
"Fearow, any luck finding my daughter? Since she's friends with your son, this whole thing affects both our flocks. I see he came back."Pidgeot told Fearow, who shook his head as Pidgeot's flock was with him.
"Trust me, Pidgeot, we're searching for her as we speak," Fearow was interrupted by one of Pidgeot's flock members.
"See, he's not doing anything to help. What if he's on all of it? I mean, look, he even has a human here with him. What if he's the one who is behind all of this as well, given how humans have in the past years as of late," one of the members of Pidgeot's flock, a Pidgeotto said as Pidgeot held his wing at the Pidgeotto, who spoke out.
"That's enough; we don't know the whole story with this human, and need I remind you that my daughter's friendship with his son is one of the reasons why our flocks are at peace, or need I remind you that he and I still belong to a trainer ourselves and you did as well, Pidgeotto," Pidgeot said as that shut the Pidgeotto down hard and nodded. "Ignore him like mine and Fearow's trainer. His is out of the region human," Pidgeot said as Ash remembered something.
"You two wouldn't happen to belong to a trainer with the last name Ketchem, would you?" Ash asked the two, who were taken aback by this, and looked at each other and nodded. "I asked because my brother had a Pidgeot and a Fearow when I was growing up, but I last saw them a few years ago. Ash said as there were murmurs among the flock upon hearing this.
"Wait, your Red's little brother?" Pidgeot said to Ash, who nodded as Fearow and Pidgeot weren't expecting to hear that.
"And I'm his Charizard and Dragonite's daughter. I would like to see this reunion more, but the more we argue, the farther we are to save the Pokemon, including your daughter Pidgeot. If we want to stop them, we need to not be at each other's throats, please," Flare said to the flock.
Ash had a sweatdrop at what Flare had just said, as she was the one who had warned him to watch what he said. Now, it's the other way around.
"I agree with your Charmander there. We need to stop this bickering, which will cause more issues between our flocks. This is why merging them didn't work out after Red left for the other region. As it was too hard for both to get along and bad blood between us even before we became flock leaders, Fearow," Pidgeot said to Fearow, who nodded.
"Right now, we need to know where those poachers are and help get back not only your daughter but whatever Pokemon they took, and we're willing to help in any way possible," Ash said to everyone who sighed and knew he was right. They do need help as a scout arrives franticly.
"Report! Did you find them?" Fearow asked one of his Spearow scouts, who nodded.
"Just east of here, about not far from where we found them, but we need to hurry soon as they caught one of our scouts during our escape, not through Pokeball, of course yet, but we need to move fast cause we're drawing suspicion towards them from what I heard from the poachers," the scout said as Fearow nodded and turned to Pidgeot who nodded.
"We need anyone who can fight and, I mean, has battle experience fighting to help just in case we need it; we can't risk both flocks," Ash said to the two leaders, who nodded.
"For once, I agree with the human here; we can't have more members of the flocks at risk, sir and mam; I'll stay behind and be backup just in case you need it," Pidgeotto said to Pidgeot and Fearow, who knew that someone needed to be behind just in case something was needed.
"Let's go," Feaorw and Pidgeot said as some of the members of flocks on both sides, along with Flare and Ash, followed them. He was worried cause with only one Pokemon on his team, and he would have trouble while they were running off. Someone was watching this and knew they might need more help, so they followed them.
The group arrives at where the scout saw the poachers, and it was two humans and a Meowth who had an R on their shirts and looked to be ready to haul off with their collection, and it wasn't just a Spearow, and a Pidgey wasn't in there, but a lot of Pokemon that weren't from the region in there.
"I must say we've outdone ourselves with these Pokemon to think that our boss nemesis being gone from the region would be bringing more Pokemon here who need to go out of Kanto to do so," the male of the two with short blue hair said.
"Humph, no one will be able to stop us now, and we'll be rebuilding our team again once we bring these to our boss," the female of the two with long red hair said.
"Now, no one is going to stop us, and the rest of you might as well face it and be ready to be a Pokemon for our cause," Meowth said to those who were scared and were losing faith about help coming, especially with where they are.
"Not so fast, there," Ash said, calling out to the group. The group was surprised that they were spotted as they turned and recognized the logo.
"No way, Team Rocket, but how! I thought your group disbanded five years ago?" Ash said to the trio, who laughed.
"So you have heard of us, huh? We are still around and will be rebuilding soon enough, and what are you going to do about it, you and your pathetic army of useless birds," the girl said to the group.
"I've heard who you two are, aren't you, Jessie, James, and Meowth? I heard about you from my brother and the news," Ash said to himself, though the trio heard this.
"So, the twerp younger brother is now on his journey. Well, not that it matters. You'll never be like your brother no matter what you do. Even trying to save these mons is useless," Jessie said to Ash, who wasn't phased by her words. "Well then, we'll have to teach you some manners," Jessie pulled out her Pokeball, as did James.
"Arbok, Weezing, and Crobats, come on out," Jessie and James sent out their Pokemon.
Charmander turned to Ash and nodded as she went towards the battlefield, as did some of the flock members as they were battling the two Crobats that Jessie and James had as Flare, well as Pidgeot and Fearow, were facing up against Weezing and Arbok as Pidgeot and Fearow were up against Weezing as Flare was up against Arbok.
"Okay, Charmander, use Flame Burst and then Dragons Dance," Ash commanded her, who used the two moves as Arbok dodged the fire attack.
"Now, Arbok, use Sludge Bomb and then Wrap, get her," Jessie commanded her Pokemon, who was trying to get to Charmander.
"Dig, now get out of there, girl, and then use Dragon Claw," Ash commanded her, who barely got out of the wrap and got underground.
"Oh, no, you don't after her before she can get out of the ground, and then Iron Tail," Jessie commanded Arbok, who managed to slam its tail into Charmander, sending her out of the ground hard as she was barely standing.
"Charmander," Ash said as he tried to get to her, but Arbok stood between him and Charmander. Ash was distraught as what Team Rocket said was getting to him. A rush of water blasted at the poison-snake Pokemon, sending it back hard. "Huh? What the?" Ash said as he turned to see a Red-headed girl with a tie on her head and overalls and had a Squirtle with her.
"Squirtle, get out there and help Charmander," she said. Squirtle nodded as the girl turned to Ash. "We can talk later. We need to help these Pokemon out now and work together. Do you have any others that can help out as well," she asked Ash, who shook his head. "Ugh, some trainer you are if you only have one Pokemon," she said.
"Listen, I just started my journey, and two, we shouldn't be arguing right now, and Charmander can still fight," Ash said as Flare nodded. The girl nodded as Ash was right. "Right now, it's an even fight; Charmander uses Flame Burst," Ash commanded Flare.
"Squirtle, use Water Gun combined with the Flame Burst," the girl said as the two attacks blasted Arbok, sending it back. "Now Skull Bash, Squirtle."
"Dragon Claw, end this with Arbok," Ash commanded Flare as the two Pokemon slammed their attacks into Arbok, Weezing, and Team Rocket hard. "You three give up; there's no need to continue this," Ash said to the trio as they saw they were losing.
"Ugh, we'll be back. Mark our words. You'll regret messing with us twerps; let's get going. It's not worth these Pokemon," Jessie said to her comrades as they returned their Pokemon and used jet packs to get out of there. Pidgeot and Fearow were about to do something, but Ash stepped in.
"Not worth it. We don't need more problems with them so far, as we're here to help the other Pokemon and your daughter," Ash said to Pidgeot, who nodded as Ash and the young girl ran over to help the Pokemon out as the Pidgey flew over to her mother and the remaining Spearow member and the other got out.
The Spearow member flew back to the flock, and the rest of the Pokemon left. A few saw how good Ash and the girl were during that event but let it go for now.
Back at the flock, Ash and the young girl were happy that they managed to help out even though they weren't aware of what they were saying. The Pidgey and Spearow landed on both trainers' heads as they were interested, as the Spearow was the one Ash helped earlier.
"Hey, you two are interested in both of us?" the girl asked the Pidgey, who nodded.
"I take you haven't known about this, but there's a feature on your Pokedex that can help you better understand the Pokemon, miss?" Ash asked the girl, who was shocked by what Ash said but realized that she hadn't introduced herself, nor was she aware of that.
"Oh, it's Misty, Misty Waterflower from Cerulean City. Are you one of the trainers who started with the other two starters? And what do you mean by that?" Misty asked Ash as she pulled out her Pokedex. Ash recognized that last name.
"You wouldn't be with the Sensationaly sisters from the gym, Misty?" Ash asked her, who nodded as she didn't try to hide it. "We can continue this discussion about that another time, but for what I meant, well, if you pressed this button on your Pokedex and better have a hand ready, you'll see why?" Ash said as Misty pressed the button. Misty noticed as a translator came out and put it in her ear. "That should help you understand what is going on without hassle," Ash said.
"Thanks?" Misty said to Ash.
"It's Ash Ketchem. Nice to meet you, and for you two?" Ash turned to the two flying types. "You two are okay with joining our team. I mean, I wasn't planning to ask you to join after this?" Ash said to the Spearow.
"I owe you for helping me earlier, and, for being honest, I insisted on getting stronger as both Pidgey and I was hoping to one day become as strong as our parents one day, as many members wanted to be with trainers one day, so please," Spearow said as Pidgey nodded upon what he said to Ash and Misty.
"I think it's fair for both of them to join both of you and to be honest, it's only fair given your past with both Pidgeot and me, Ash. And it's their choice, not ours, if they want to be with you, and you can say this is our way of saying thanks for saving them," Fearow said to Ash as Pidgeot nodded.
"Alright, I'm fine with them joining the team if you are okay with yours, Misty?" Ash said to Misty, who nodded.
"I may be a water-type specialist, but I won't turn down having more than that on my team, so welcome to the team," Misty said to Pidgey as she pulled out a Pokeball. Pidgey tapped it, and she was caught without hassle.
"Welcome to the team, Spearow, and if it's not to your standard, let me know," Ash asked the Spearow, who nodded as Ash pulled out a Pokeball, and Spearow did the same thing without hassle as both let them out.
"Take care of you two, and we'll be seeing you two again someday, maybe during the downtime during your journey; until further notice, we expect great things from you two with them, and if something happens, we'll let you know," Pidgeot said to Ash and Misty who nodded as they took their leave.
"Well, that was an experience, and I'm surprised you are on your journey, Misty?" Ash said to Misty, who brushed it off so far. "So what should we do now? Go our separate ways?" Ash asked Misty.
"Well, we aren't that far from Viridian City, so why not? We got together since we were heading to the same areas anyway. We might as well travel together," Misty said to Ash, who was taken aback. "I have no problem traveling with others. I want to prove something to myself and my sisters, and we have the same goal, Ash," Misty said to Ash, who was curious but nodded.
"Sure, the more, the merrier, and let's try not to get at each other's throats, please, as I am new to being a trainer, deal," Ash said, holding a hand for a handshake as Misty nodded and accepted it.
Ash and Misty were heading toward Viridian City, and both knew this was just the beginning of their journey as trainers.
Little did they know it, but someone was indeed watching them watching Ash from trees with a blueish color Pokemon who was watching Ash.
With his first experience with Team Rocket and a new Pokemon, Ash and his new friend Misty now head to Viridian City, the site of their next destination. What else is in store for our heroes as the journey continues?
Stay Tuned.
Done and done. This chapter was a bit more challenging to write as I figured out what to put Misty in now or in the next chapter. You may have noticed that I changed a few things, like Ash's flying type/first capture of the region and Misty being a trainer, compared to her initially traveling with Ash. We'll learn more about it in the next chapter, episode 2 of the anime next chapter.
As I mentioned earlier, the capture requests are now open. I'll limit the starters to four per the four regions in this story, and any Pokemon from Kanto-Sinnoh is allowed. Still, I'm limiting the captures to 20. I don't know how long this story will be, and that's not 20 for one, but for Misty as well, and if you want, Brock when we get there. If you read my other stories, then you know what I want. But for those who haven't, I want the following: Personality, Gender (Note that Legendaries and Pokemon like Beldum will count as having one), the reason why they want to join the team, as well as when in the story and backstory. This is a reminder that this isn't Super Ash as well as Shinies, please, as long as long. And don't worry about the usefulness, as the 4x weakness isn't a thing. See you next time.
