"Last time on Total Drama Island," Chris starts, standing on the Dock of Shame as usual. The footage shifts to the last episodes. "The contestants were forced to face their worst phobias in a challenge so brutal it made half our campers cower in fear! Some overcame them, like Duncan, who seemed to grow closer to Courtney, Gwen who definitely grew closer to Trent, and Noah who helped his new best friend come out to the viewing world. Others weren't so lucky.
Tyler and Courtney lost the challenge for their team with their fears of chickens and green jelly. Weirdos.. At the end of the day, Tyler was sent packing, but not without a romantic gesture from his gal-pal Lindsay."
Chris smirks at the camera. "I'm standing here twenty minutes before the contestants arrive. The challenge won't take place on Wawanakwa this time. What do I mean? Stay tuned and find out on an all new exciting episode of…
Total!
Drama!
Island!"
The theme song plays over an intro sequence.
The first shot depicts Wawanakwa in full, leading up to a giant cliff and zooming past McLean as he sips a coffee before diving into the water below the cliff.
Dear Mom and Dad, I'm doing fine.
You guys are on my mind.
We see Ezekiel under water, watching Geoff and Bridgette with a downtrodden look on his face, both of which are staring longingly into each other's eyes until an eagle picks Geoff up by his shoulders and carries him off. Bridgette tries to reach for him, watching him fly away with concern.
You asked me what I wanted to be and now I think the answer is plain to see
I wanna be famous.
The eagle drops Geoff down as it soars past the sun. He falls down a few tree branches before landing in DJ's arms, who seconds prior was enjoying nature and the copious animals around him. The animals get violent and attack as soon as their peace is disturbed. DJ and Geoff scream as the former runs with the latter in his arms away from the vicious animals.
Duncan laughs hysterically at the scene, but Courtney glares at him with disapproval, causing him to stop.
I wanna live close to the sun
So pack your bags cause I already won.
Heather is in a canoe with Beth and LeShawna going down the stream. Beth is in the middle, trying to separate the two from dueling. The canoe ends up careening off of the stream and down a waterfall, which makes the teens fall to the water below, passing by Harold as he practices a few fighting poses on a dangerously positioned log overlooking the falls. As he stretches his arms and legs out in a dorky position, Izzy swings in on a vine and knocks into him, bumping directly into an outhouse housing Lindsay, who falls out with her skirt around her ankles.
Everything to prove
Nothing in my way
I'll get there one day
Cause I wanna be famous.
Inside the mess hall kitchen, we see Chef preparing some disgusting green soup with his bare hand dipped into the pot. He looks behind him at a tied up Owen and Noah, both looking petrified of whatever Chef is concoting for them. In the mess hall itself, Eva arm wrestles Tyler, easily beating him and dislocating his arm.
Outside on the beach, Sadie and Katie coo over Justin, who is looking at himself in between two mirrors. He winks at one, his teeth glistening.
Na-na-na-na-na-na
Na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na
We get a good look at the polluted, muggy, teal waters of Wawanakwa, a few seagulls fighting over a cellphone. Katie swims for it, with Sadie watching from the sand anxiously, but the skinny brown clone of her best friend ends up being terrorized by a shark and swims back to shore as fast as she can.
I wanna be, I wanna be
I wanna be famous!
Back on the dock of shame, we see Justin strut to the edge before ripping his shirt off, water from the shark splashing towards Katie drenching his perfectly chiseled muscles. He flexes as the camera goes up and transitions from day to night, then comes back down at the campfire ceremony.
I wanna be, I wanna be
I wanna be famous!
Trent is playing his guitar for Gwen, who is entranced by him. He leans forward, a warm smile on his face. As they inch closer, Cody gets between them and places a hand on both of their shoulders, smiling dorkily. The rest of the cast whistles the chorus of the theme song as the camera zooms out to capture them all sitting around the bonfire. The logo appears above them.
Total Drama Island:
The Creeps Cut
Created by VoiceFromUnderTheCovers and Crimson Candy.
We pick up at the Dock of Shame, where Chris stands in front of the Screaming Gophers and Killer Bass.
(Confessional: Beth)
"I hate this show. You wanna hear about the morning I had today? I woke up to Heather shaking me just so she could tell me to walk her to the bathroom. At four in the morning! I know I was the one who put laxative in her dinner as revenge, but I didn't expect it to backfire like that! Then, I had to stand there outside and listen to her bitch and moan about the food and about Chris, and Gwen, and everyone else, and when I finally spoke up to talk about the alliance, she told me not to speak right now. What's her problem?! She is such a bitch!"
(Confessional end)
"Everyone enjoy breakfast?" Chris asks with a knowing smirk.
"No more than usual." Noah replies.
"Great! We're getting right into today's challenge today, so listen up and beware, for the location we're sailing to today.. Is cursed~" The host crinkles his fingers like a crypt keeper.
"Cursed..? Like with ghosts and stuff?" Lindsay fearfully questions.
"Not exactly ghosts. More like bad omens." Chris answers.
"So what's the challenge? We'll eat it up and leave zero crumbs." LeShawna says, putting her fist out for Heather to bump.
"Totally." Heather adds, punching her fist.
Chris continues. "The first part of the challenge is to pick a partner from your team, with a maximum of three people. There are seven canoes behind me, three for the Bass, four for the Gophers. Nobody is allowed to leave until everyone has a partner and a canoe. Got that?"
"Got it." Duncan answers, cracking his knuckles before locking his arms around Sadie and Harold's neck. "I think I already got my partners picked out." The two squirm under his grasp, looking at each other uneasily.
"Once I shoot off this blank," He pulls out a starter pistol, "Both teams will row all the way down there, to that island across from Wawanakwa known only as… Boney Island." He uses a stereotypically scary voice to emphasize the island's fear factor. It's dry, mossy, the mountain atop it in the shape of a human skull, probably from Chris' design. The trees all look full, and yet dead at the same time, and a storm cloud lingers over it.
"More like boner island." Noah whispers to Cody and Owen. Owen chuckles, but Cody seems withdrawn, looking towards Gwen whilst she rubs shoulders with Trent.
"Once at least one team is on Boney Island, I'll be there to relay to you the second part of the challenge."
"Is there a reward for whichever team makes it first?" Heather asks.
"Think of this challenge as a race. One team can be on challenge three while another is struggling on challenge one."
"I see.." She schemes.
"So, everybody partner up!" Chris fires finger guns at the cast.
"You guys aren't going anywhere, right?" Duncan asks the dweebs in his arms.
"Uh.. nope! Nowhere but to the canoes. Nice weather we're having, r-right Sadie?"
"Yeah.. uh, great weather."
"Aw, what's the matter, lose your fight now that Meathead's gone? If you guys wanna survive on this team, you're gonna have to listen to me. Understand?"
They both nod.
"Good."
Geoff walks down the stairs towards the canoes, catching Bridgette looking around for a partner. He waves to her, but she uncharacteristically looks away. DJ walks down the stairs next to Geoff and sees it all unfold. Just as Courtney enters Bridgette's line of sight, she desperately dashes towards her. "Courtney! Wanna partner up?" She holds her arm. Courtney smiles.
"Sure, I don't mind." She answers.
"That's weird." Geoff whispers.
"Yeah, no kidding. What happened?" DJ asks.
"I dunno. We were fine yesterday. Wanna be my partner, DJ?"
He daps him up. "Of course, man. But uh.. I'm a little uneasy being on the water, just so you know."
"Yeah? It's not so bad, bro. I'm a surfer, I know how these waves work. And these waves are weak sauce. Nothing to be afraid of." He calmly smiles.
"Okay.. but if anything happens, we go right back to shore." DJ requests.
"And lose the challenge? No way. We're in it to win it, man! We can't let our team down."
DJ whimpers under his breath, hugging himself as he follows Geoff to a canoe.
Heather turns to LeShawna. "You should leave Gwen and Trent alone for today. Wanna be my partner?"
"Ha, you think those two are finally gonna make-out if I just give 'em some privacy? Trust me, it ain't happening."
"Well.. wanna be my partner anyways? You're one of the strongest players on our team, and you're way smarter than most of them." She motions towards Lindsay specifically.
LeShawna smiles. "For real? Alright, sure, lead the way."
(Confessional: Heather)
"'Lead the way.' Heh. Like music to my ears."
(Confessional end)
Heather walks with LeShawna, passing Lindsay on her way. The blonde scratches her head, looking for a partner. Heather leans in and, like a drive-by, whispers, "Take Trent, forcefully!" Then she leaves her behind. Lindsay looks around for Trent, who she finds smiling at Gwen and presumably asking for her to join him. She sprints towards him, grabbing his wrist.
"Trent! There's no one else who will partner up with me! Could you?"
"Uh, sorry, Lindsay, me and Gwen were actually going to-"
"Gwen! You and me, a canoe, what do you say?" Cody puts forth a sweaty hand, grinning suggestively. Gwen winces at him, then looks at Trent.
"I don't wanna be on a canoe with Cody." She whispers to the punk.
"I don't want to be on a canoe without you." He whispers back. She softly smiles.
Lindsay hugs his arm. "Pleeeease, Trent? I'm so sad after Tyler left.."
Trent gives Gwen a look. She doesn't look like she cares. But Trent does. He knows how she feels. He sighs. "Alright. No funny business though. When we get to Boney Island, we separate."
"Trent!" Gwen whines.
He mouths a 'sorry!' as he walks towards the canoes with her, practically being dragged. Gwen folds her arms over her chests and spits on the floor. Cody eyes the spit before flicking his wrist. "Jerk.."
"So.. you and me?" She turns, but doesn't look at him, sighing.
"Fine. But if you touch me, I'm throwing you overboard."
"That's fair!" He pumps his fist in celebration. They walk towards a canoe.
(Confessional: Gwen)
"Guess this is what I get for liking a nice guy. Trent isn't a jerk, I know that, I am for calling him one. But Cody? He's like an annoying brother."
(Confessional: Cody)
"Yes, yes, yes! Oh it is so on!" He strums on an air guitar.
(Confessional: Gwen)
"A very annoying little brother."
(Confessional: Cody)
He continues playing air guitar, making the sound effects and everything. "Now, you may be wondering: Code-ster, she's so not into you, you're not getting anywhere here. Scott Pilgrim had to overthrow Ramona's seven evil exes, right? Well one day, Trent will be one of her exes. I need to build a friendship with Gwen before I can even think about taking her out. Then when she's single in a year or two, I'll be her safety net and catch her like a trampoline! Oh yeah!"
(Confessional end)
Owen pulls Noah's arm over his head. "You and me, little buddy, let's go!"
"Definitely. Just don't put the canoe underwater, alright?"
"Hehehe, okay, I'll try!" They walk side by side.
(Confessional: Beth)
"So now Lindsay's afraid to talk to me because Heather caught her kissing Tyler again, and I'm completely isolated! Noah and Cody won't look at me, Heather and Lindsay hate me, and I hate everyone else for being such assholes! What am I supposed to-" She gasps.
"Oh my god, the challenge!"
(Confessional end)
Beth, out of breath, sprints as fast as she can toward the dock. Whilst the contestants begin pushing their canoes to the water, she trips down the stairs and falls onto the sand. Heather can't help but stifle a laugh. LeShawna hisses sympathetically. "Ooh, girl, you good?"
"I-I'm okay.." She clears her glasses by flicking them off the sand covering them. She turns to Chris. "What did I miss?!"
"Canoes." Chris answers. She looks around for a partner, seeing that all the canoes are taken. She runs towards Lindsay when she spots her.
"Lindsay, Trent, can I join you guys?"
"Sure, why not?" Trent says.
Lindsay doesn't say a word as Beth boards, making eye contact with Heather a few canoes away. Heather nods at her.
(Confessional: Heather)
"Having Beth as Lindsay's friend could prove advantageous. She can stave her off from telling people about me. Not that they'd believe her anyway with her piss poor reputation."
(Confessional end)
Chris stands behind the contestants, raising the gun in the air above him. "Are you ready?!" He exclaims. The campers nod. "Get set… Go!"
Bang!
And they're off! The canoes are pushed into the water and boarded, the teens paddling away from shore. A seagull suddenly falls from the sky in front of Chris. "Oof.. That's gonna provoke some angry emails."
Duncan sits between Harold and Sadie, his feet kicked up at the tip of the boat with his arms resting behind his back whilst his partners paddle. "Come on, weaklings, I know you can do better than that."
They don't respond, simply going faster. "That's better."
(Confessional: Harold)
"I am so not afraid of Duncan. He's just an ex-con with a knife on him at all times. Okay, maybe I'm a little scared. He holds so much power.. As long as I keep up my wicked skills, maybe I can win the team over and avoid getting me and Sadie voted out. Don't tell Duncan though."
(Confessional: Sadie)
"It's been a week now and still nothing from Katie. I miss her.. If she were here, we'd rule this challenge. Too bad I have no bars, and I'm stuck dealing with that pig Duncan. He's so rude, not to mention super criminalistic. Someone should bring him down a peg. Not me though! Way too scary."
(Confessional end)
Behind them is Bridgette and Courtney, both paddling at a moderate speed.
"Hey, so.. How are you holding up? It was a pretty big scare when you got put in the bottom two last challenge." Bridgette asks, looking her way.
"You're telling me. I was terrified I'd have to go back home." Courtney responds.
"What's so scary about home?"
Courtney blinks. "Oh.. just disappointing everyone, I guess. My parents are really hard on me about winning and if I lost it all here due to gelatin, they'd.. Well they'd be really upset." She rubs the back of her neck sheepishly.
"I'm really thankful to have super supportive parents. You should swing by my house after the show and meet my mom, she makes a killer tortellini skillet."
"..Really? You'd want me at your place?"
"Sure! You're a great friend, Courtney. People just don't get you." Bridgette places a hand on her shoulder.
The CIT happily smiles. "Huh.. Well, thank you, Bridgette. You're good too." Courtney replies, getting a big grin out of her friend as well as a small laugh. "So.. about Geoff."
"What about Geoff?" Bridgette cautiously questions.
"It seemed like he really wanted to partner up with you."
"You saw that?"
"Yeah. What gives? Did he do something?"
Bridgette groans. "Ugh.. Okay, I'll tell you, but you can't tell anyone on our team, are we clear?"
Courtney nods. "Absolutely. Go on."
Meanwhile, Geoff and DJ paddle behind most other teams.
(Confessional: DJ)
"I know I must be slowing us down, but there's no way I'm going fast just yet. The team's gonna have to wait! Sorry, guys."
(Confessional: Geoff)
"DJ tried to help me with my phobia, and with Bridgette. I had to help him with his fear of water!"
(Confessional end)
DJ, wearing a life jacket, slowly uses the paddle, looking down every few seconds just to see if the boat's rocking too hard. Geoff focuses on the skyline. "So, what's up man? Why's Bridgette givin' you the cold shoulder?"
"I have no idea, dude, but it's really killing me inside, you know?"
"Oh yeah, I know whatcha mean. Look, tell me how yesterday went and I'll tell you what went wrong, if anything."
"Alright. So I first saw Bridge at breakfast, and we ate together like usual. You were there, Courtney was there and Duncan was there. Harold and Sadie stayed in their own lane."
"No need for unnecessary details."
"Right, sorry. Uh, we talked about how the water here sucks for surfing, and we talked about our hobbies at home. I told Bridge I was into frisbee and bowling and partying, she said she liked all those things too.. You winked at me."
Bridgette continues the story through her perspective. "It was a pretty solid day. We had a lot of fun together, I felt the vibe, I felt like we were progressing a bit, you know? We go swimming at one point and I mention how I love little DIY gifts. After dinner, we say our goodbye's, and I take a detour to the bathroom."
Geoff continues, "She had to use the bathroom, which gave me the perfect opportunity to slip it in."
"Slip.. what in?" DJ questions.
Bridgette cringes. "Oh my god, Courtney, it was so bad! I come back from the bathroom to get my toothbrush, when I see something bulging from under the covers. I peel back the blanket and there it is."
Courtney gasps. "No!"
DJ cringes. "You didn't!"
He proudly nods. "I did. Made it in the crafts services tent."
Bridgette continues. "That's not even the worst part. On the back, it says-"
"-I hope you think of me whenever dropping loose change into this." Geoff grins. DJ facepalms. Geoff's dopey grin ceases. "What?
Courtney pretends to gag while Bridgette pretends to choke herself.
DJ shakes his head. "Dude, that was so lame. I know you tried, I know, but.. Goddamn, you messed up."
"I was just trying to appeal to what she likes, though." Geoff mutters, slumping in his seat.
"Right, but, look," DJ slides a hand over Geoff's shoulder, leaning forward. "you and Bridgette have only known each other for what, two weeks?"
Geoff looks up at him. "Chyeah.."
"So, look at it like this: imagine Bridgette's a bunny, and you want the bunny to come over so you can hold it. You don't just run up to the bunny, and you don't wanna make any sudden movements to scare it off, right?"
"Right."
"If you drop a paper mache coin bowl on a bunny, the bunny's gonna run away. You feel me?"
"Oh.. yeah. So, I fucked up, big time."
"Big time. But don't worry, there's still time to turn this whole thing around."
Heather and LeShawna are practically neck and neck with Courtney and Bridgette, right across from them.
"So, you and Lindsay. How'd that happen? What's the appeal?"
"Lindsay's a sweetie pie, and totally gorgeous. Besides, she's more than happy to vote with me whenever I need her."
"You do seem pretty smart. Personally, I think this team's got way too many dummies."
"So true. Like that Cody kid? So pathetic."
"You gotta feel bad for that boy. And then there's Beth. Weren't y'all cool at one point?"
"Yeah, but I just couldn't stand her constantly bad mouthing my teammates. She called Gwen "tanorexic"!"
"For real?! Nobody messes with my homegirl."
"So you agree she should be voted out at the next ceremony? You'll vote with me?" Heather holds her hand out like she's waiting for LeShawna to shake it. With a determined smirk she accepts, shaking her hand.
"For sure.. Did she ever say anything about me?"
(Confessional: Heather)
"Piece of cake."
(Confessional end)
Behind them is Cody and Gwen, the former behind the latter paddling slower than his partner. Gwen turns to him, catching a glimpse smushed between Beth and Lindsay, both of which are chatting his ear off.
Beth continues. "...So, no, I've never said ANY of what Heather says I did. And she's totally being unfair to me! She makes me wash her back in the shower, and she uses my stuff without my permission, and she's just the worst kind of girl!"
Trent is the only one paddling at this point, his eyes bored and his voice clearly frustrated. "Why are you in an alliance with her then?"
(Confessional: Beth)
"And that's when it hit me. Why am I in an alliance with Heather? Am I in an alliance with Heather? I'm a strong enough girl! I was raised on a farm and rode with the best of them! On pigs that is. Me and Lindsay should form our own alliance. I thought, anyway."
(Confessional end)
"Oops.. did we mention the alliance?" Lindsay questions.
"Who cares? We don't need Heather anyways! Trent is right, let's form our own alliance and get Heather kicked off next elimination ceremony." Beth grins, sure that her friend would agree.
Lindsay looks hesitant, playing with her hair. "Um.. I dunno, Beth.. Heather's been pretty good to me. Plus, we're kind of BFF's. It'd be bad karma if I betrayed her."
Beth's face falls, her hand tightening into fists. "So, what, you believe her over me?"
"I.. um.. Well you are kind of spiteful." Lindsay cringes as Beth gasps and becomes angry.
"Lindsay! I.. I can't believe you right now!" She turns away, folding her arms.
"B-Beth, wait! I'm sorry but-"
"No! Leave me alone! Just shut up and paddle so we can win the stupid challenge." Beth yells. Trent looks at the camera with widened pupils.
(Confessional: Trent)
"Gwen, if you're watching this, I never asked for this. This is torture."
(Confessional end)
Back to Cody and Gwen.
"So… wanna go out on a date?" Cody asks.
"No." Gwen doesn't look back.
(Confessional: Cody)
"Worth a shot. Time for plan B."
(Confessional end)
"...May I ask why?" He asks.
Gwen quirks an eyebrow up. "I barely know you."
"Uh, correction, we've known each other for two weeks. And a half."
"Yeah, barely." She grumbles.
"The point of a date is to get to know each other, you know."
"And maybe I don't want to get to know a guy who probably only finds me attractive because of the whole 'big titty goth girl' meme." She rolls her eyes.
"No way! I loved goth girls before it was cool! And I listen to goth music."
This catches her off guard, her head tilting his way. "You do? Which bands?"
"The Cure, Bauhaus, Alien Sex Party, hell I even like some German bands! Those guys only in it for the meme are total posers."
"Wow.. impressive."
He grins. "Yeah, I got my first boner from a goth girl. Raven from Teen Titans."
"Okay, less impressive."
"So, how about now? Friday night's good?"
She can't help but smile, finding him charming at the very least. "Where would we even go? We're stranded here. It's not like there's a burger joint around the corner."
"What about a walk on the beach?"
"Uh.. alone? With you? I don't think so."
Cody laughs, much to Gwen's surprise.
"You.. aren't offended?"
"No! It's funny! I'm not sensitive. Oh, did I mention that I'm anti work?"
"Wow, Cody, you're kinda cool. I mean that in the meanest way possible."
"Heh, noted. But hey, I know you're not into me.. What about Trent?"
Gwen blushes, turning back to the direction of Boney Island. "W-what do you mean? Into Trent? Please. He's so…" She closes her eyes, sighs and then reopens them. "Why do you ask?"
"Me and Trent? We've talked before. We're cool with each other."
Gwen gets defensive, looking at him with furrowed brows. "What are you saying? That you've talked behind my back? What has that douchebag been saying about me?"
He puts his hands up. "Woah, chill! He's always seemed super concerned for you, and loves hanging out with you. But he isn't sure if you like him back."
She calms down. "What's your point?"
A sly grin graces his face. "I could put a good word in for ya, if you want."
"You'd do that? That's.." Gwen smiles. "That's really sweet. Thanks, Cody."
"No problem, anything for you, babe." He shoots a finger gun at her.
(Confessional: Cody)
"I'm not shooting myself in the foot. She's just not ready yet for the Codemeister. She'll come. But for now, as long as she's happy, I'm happy."
(Confessional end)
"Gosh, I don't know how to repay you."
"Well, it's funny you mention that. You see, there is one thing you could do for me that would really help me out."
"What is it?"
Cody twiddles his thumbs, toothily smiling. "Well.. me and Owen made a bet that if I could get your bra, he'd do all my laundry for the rest of the season, ehehe."
Gwen shoves her paddle into his balls.
"Oeugh! Okay.. I walked into that one." He squeaks, holding his jewels whilst Gwen paddles, shaking her head with an amused, somewhat excited smile.
In front of Geoff and DJ, but in bottom last on their team is Noah and Owen. Noah struggles to paddle the boat fast with Owen behind him, and Owen, though good at paddling, is deep in thought and has been unusually quiet.
"Ngh..!" Noah grunts, forcing himself to paddle. "So, what? No anecdotes to tell today?"
Owen blinks. "Huh? Oh, sure! Sorry, I'm just thinking."
"Let it allll out, buddy."
Owen stops paddling, much to Noah's difficulty. "Well, a few days back, when we were doing the phobia challenge and I thought I was gonna die, I confessed to the whole viewing world that I was bi. And where I come from, that kind of stuff is, uh.. Kinda frowned upon."
"What, you're religious? I thought new age Christians were more supportive?"
Owen swallows. "Catholic."
"Oh. Look, dude, the world changes. You might be different, but by all means, you're not going to hell for liking men and women."
"I know, but my family doesn't." Owen continues paddling.
"It shocks me they're more concerned with that than your eating habits."
"I know, right?! I mean.. I'm glad they're not, but you're right."
"You're gonna have to face them eventually, whether you're eliminated or you win. I'd just be prepared to face the music. Maybe write down what you want to say."
Owen smiles. "Thanks, Noah. I've never heard you give advice before."
"Well, Owen, you're looking at the president of the student body and ex head of the debate team. I'm a great advisor." Noah proudly claims.
"Woah. Why'd you quit the debate team?"
"Debating idiots gave me constant headaches. Hey, do you feel that?" Looking around, Noah and Owen find themselves in a misty fog that sends chills down their spines. The other teams ahead of them and behind them feel it, too. Ahead of the horizon is the island, cast in a shadowy rain cloud.
(Confessional: Gwen)
"The best part about this island? It rains all the time." She shows the camera a picture of the island she took.
(Confessional end)
Chris stands in front of a helicopter, watching on the dock as Duncan, Sadie, Harold, Bridgette, Courtney, Heather and LeShawna arrive, leaving their canoes by the shore. They approach Chris, but the host puts a hand up to stop them. "Wait. Pick up your canoes."
"Are you serious? My arms are tired enough." LeShawna questions.
"Very serious. You're gonna need them for the return home." Chris explains, earning a few eye rolls from Duncan and LeShawna. The campers pick up their canoes together. Gophers, you're missing quite a few players. You don't wanna wait for the rest of your team?"
Heather scoffs. "No offense to them, but-"
"We're here!" Gwen shouts, jumping off of her canoe along with Cody, Owen and Noah. Geoff and DJ aren't far behind, but Trent, Lindsay and Beth aren't even visible yet.
(Confessional: DJ)
"Okay, story time. When I was eight years old, my homies dared me to jump off the high-platform diving board at the pool. I was scared, but I jumped. I wasn't gonna let them call me a chicken. I landed on my butt. Sounds better than a belly flop, right? Wrong. My trunks went so far up my butt, I had to go to the hospital to get them removed. They invented a new word for what I did: the wedgie flop. I've been afraid of water ever since. But today, Geoff helped me get over that fear. I'll never forget that."
(Confessional end)
"H-hey, Bridgette!" Geoff pants, catching his breath with a wave to the surfer girl. She looks the other way, her friend cringing and doing the same. Geoff frowns.
"Where are Lindsay and Trent?" Heather asks no one in particular.
"Doesn't matter. The second part of the challenge starts now! Carrying your canoes, both teams need to reach the other side of the island with their entire team intact. There, the third part of your challenge awaits. If Trent, Lindsay and Beth can't make it in time, them's just the breaks. I'll see you there." As he opens the door to the chopper, he stops and turns. "One last thing. Remember when I said the island is cursed?" The contestants nod. "Just.. try not to take anything off of it. No matter what it is, keep it here and leave with empty pockets. Or else…" He trails off, shakes his head and boards the helicopter, flying off with Chef in the driver's seat. Heather and Courtney watch where the chopper goes.
Duncan lets go of the canoe he's holding along with Sadie and Harold. They struggle to keep it above their heads. "H-hey! What gives?"
"I'm tired from carrying you two. So, carry the canoe. I'll stick behind and watch for snakes." Duncan kicks Harold's heel.
"Take a look in the mirror." Harold murmurs.
The criminal puts a hand on his shoulder and whispers, "What was that, dork?"
Sadie looks at Harold, scared for him. He hangs his head, eyebrows furrowed. "...Nothing."
Duncan let's go. "Good. Now, Courtney,"
Courtney flinches, turning to him. "What is it?"
(Confessional: Bridgette)
"Duncan hasn't spoken to Courtney in days. I can only assume it's some dumb pride thing after that act of passion he committed last challenge. I think the guys might have a point. She's been deep in thought these last few days.."
(Confessional end)
"Where are we headed?" He asks.
There's a fork in the road, one path on the left, one on the right. Both look identically creepy, with one more narrow than the other. Courtney hums, looking at both carefully before pointing at the more narrow one. "Chances are, the narrow path gives us more privacy from the other team. Besides, the wider the forest, the more danger lurking."
"Well, what are we waiting for?" Bridgette says, holding her canoe with Courtney over her head before leading her team into the narrow path.
"What should we do, Noah?" Owen asks his buddy.
"Narrow path, obviously." Noah answers.
"Uh, no way. We'll slack behind the Bass and lose. Is that what you want, Noah?" Heather questions.
"I want our entire team alive so we can win the challenge, Heather. Do you?"
"Oh please, I doubt there are even any animals out. It's raining, in case you couldn't tell."
"I do in fact have eyes, honey. Thanks."
"Guys, come on, we can't argue all day, they're getting away!" Cody mediates. Noah sighs.
"Fine, we'll go wide, since you're so used to that." He leads, with Cody and Gwen following behind them. Heather looks gravely offended.
"Excuse me? Ugh! Douchebag."
"That Noah.." LeShawna shakes her head. "he's certainly something."
"Yeah, a piece of shit. Always out to get me."
"Don't pay him any mind, girl, he's just a hater. Let's move."
"Wait, we should leave instructions for Lindsay and Trent."
"Ooh, good call."
Heather gently places the canoe down and grabs a stick, drawing out directions in the mud that read 'pick up canoe, reach the other side down wide path.'
"Okay, that should work." She picks up her side of the canoe and the girls leave down the wide path with the rest of their team.
Just as everyone else disappears, Trent, Beth and Lindsay wash up on shore. Lindsay sighs. "Wow.. this place is really cold..!"
"And it's raining? Glad I brought my jacket." Trent hugs himself around his leather jacket. Looking around, they don't see anybody else, but he eventually spots the marking in the dirt. "Guys, look, directions. Our team must have left these behind."
"So we're in last place? Of course! Of course I chose the worst possible teammates to canoe with." Beth complains.
"How is any of this my fault? You two were bickering the entire time while I paddled." Trent replies, picking up the canoe along with Lindsay.
"Exactly, you could have stopped us!" Beth barks.
"Oh my god. You're so dramatic, Beth. Grow up." Trent insults.
Beth feels her heart split in two. Tears storm her eyes, her hair watered down by the rain. She tightens her fists and pouts, her lip shaking before she yells, "Fine! I will!" and runs into the woods crying.
"Beth, wait! You could get hurt!" Lindsay calls, holding out a hand for her friend. Beth doesn't look back. Frustrated, Lindsay stomps her feet into the mud. "What am I doing wrong, Trent? I'm really trying to be a good friend, and Beth is just-"
"Lindsay, we're super far behind. We can walk and talk at the same time, so let's do that, okay?"
"R-right, sorry."
"It's cool." They march down the wide path slowly, as both are still worn out from paddling. Trent sighs. "Look, you want my advice?"
Lindsay nods sadly. "Yes, please."
"Quit playing middle-woman. Either be on Beth's side, or Heather's, whoever you think is treating you better. You can't please everyone, so please those who please you. I know it seems messed up, but sometimes, life is too messed up to make a good decision on. You understand?"
"Oh.. Okay. I think I do."
(Confessional: Lindsay)
"Beth or Heather.. I wish this decision was harder. Heather promised to take me to the final three, and she is really nice to me.. Sometimes. But she's also kinda mean occasionally, and she uses my lip gloss without permission. But then Beth is always trailing behind and blaming me for anything that goes wrong when it's totally her fault! I'm sorry, Beth. I hope we can still be friends after." She frowns.
(Confessional end)
Running through the woods to get to the other side first, the Screaming Gophers are shocked and anxious from the sight of skeletons on pikes and skull ornaments strewn about the woods. Suddenly, the shadow of a falling tree casts down on Gwen and Cody. Too mortified to move, they scream, as does their team, until Trent comes out of nowhere and shoves them out of the way with his and Lindsay's canoe. The tree continues to fall, but Trent and Lindsay jump out of the way, losing their canoe in the process when the tree falls on it, destroying it instantly.
"Gwen! Are you alright?!" Trent questions, panicked, looming over her as she slowly sits up.
"I'm uh.. I'm okay, yeah. Thanks, Trent." She takes a hand he offers and hugs him, trying to stop herself from shivering. Trent gives her his coat to wear before looking down at a stunned Cody.
"You okay, man?"
Cody brushes himself off. "Yeah, uh.. Just peachy."
"Oh my gosh, let me help you up!" Lindsay hunches over, her cleavage visible to the short king. He smirks, taking his time in taking her hand.
"Thank youuu~" He says dreamily when he stands up.
"You're welcome, Cory!" She happily skips away.
"Uh.. it's.. Nevermind."
"Wait, did anybody else see that?" Noah questions, scanning the treeline. About twelve beady, red eyes peek out from the darkness, a series of growls and snarls coming from the woods surrounding them. Slowly, massive beavers with giant, saber-toothed teeth lurk into view, revealing themselves as the cause of the tree falling.
"L-Lindsay..? Where's Beth?" Gwen stammers.
"Um.. she ran off into the woods.. Alone.." Lindsay murmurs.
"Well, uh.. She's dead." Noah says.
"Hurry, go, run away!" Heather screams, sprinting as fast as she can with LeShawna lagging behind her, trying her hardest to keep up whilst holding the canoe. The rest of the team follows.
"Ahhh! Killer beavers!" Cody screams, following Heather along with the rest of his team.
(Confessional: Chris)
"A remnant of the Pleistocene Era, the wooly beaver is a day-active rodent indigenous to Boney Island. Oh, and they're meat eaters." He winks.
(Confessional end)
Continuing to run from the beavers, the Gophers sprint past a bear scratching his back on a tree. The beavers chase after them. The bear confusingly puts his glasses on.
The Gophers sprint right into a wall, a shallow pond beneath them and a ton of nests surrounding them. "Uh.. guys? Dead end." Owen says.
"Ugh! Could this shit get anymore dangerous?!" LeShawna yells, attracting the giant, winged geese from their nests, their ugly faces glaring at the team. "Oh give me a fucking break!"
(Confessional: Chris)
"And those would be the Stymphalian Birds. Also indigenous to Boney Island, and the most carnivorous species on the island, hehe."
(Confessional end)
The team runs away from the new threat, the wooly beavers following along with the flying monster geese. The bear from earlier watches them run past and breaks his glasses in half, walking away.
"Somebody, do something!" Heather demands.
"Wait! I uh.. I've got this!" Cody pulls out a loaf of bread from his jeans.
"Why did you have that?" Gwen questions.
"Well.. I was gonna make us a romantic dinner." Cody bashfully smiles.
"WITH BREAD FROM YOUR PANTS?!"
"Just throw it already!" Trent yells. Cody throws the bread, but the Gophers don't stop running. The geese and beavers fight over the bread, a gorey, unbridled mess unseen by the camera as the animals screech and claw.
"Holy shit." Noah comments under his breath.
"Oh god.. I think I'm gonna throw up!" Lindsay exclaims.
"Don't you dare puke on my hair, Lindsay!" Trent yells back.
On the calmer side of the island, the Killer Bass march onward, until they reach a section of the woods with about twelve branching paths.
"Which way should we go?" DJ questions. A majority of the team looks at the two experts/leaders, Courtney and Bridgette.
"Left. Definitely left." Courtney points, the canoe faltering before she adjusts to hold it back up. Bridgette seems to not agree.
"I dunno, maybe we should go to the right." Geoff suggests, noticing this.
Bridgette adds, "The right is wider, could yield better results in this case." Geoff smiles at her, taking it as a sign. Bridgette raises a brow. "What are you looking at?"
"Just happy you're going with my idea, is all. Sorry."
"Let's just move on." Courtney says, cutting into the conversation before it can get anymore awkward.
(Confessional: Courtney)
"I've studied just about every subject there is to study, but love? Nope. Not my thing."
(Confessional end)
Continuing to run through the woods, Beth eventually slips over a puddle and falls on her face, her outfit soaked and dirty, her hands cut up from the impact and her sobs choking her. She slowly lifts her head up and finds herself face to face with the bear from earlier.
"Oh my gosh! Please don't kill me! Haven't I suffered enough?!"
The bear blinks, sniffing her before gagging.
"Yes, I smell. I work on a farm, I'm not conventionally attractive, I have braces and I'm unpopular and.. I'm talking to a bear. My best friend at home is a pig for peanut's sake!"
Beth punches a tree next to her after standing up, dropping a beehive next to her. Bees everywhere spray out. Beth tries to scream, but only a shrill hiss comes out as she backs away, desperate to not get stung. The bear easily swats most of the little bugs in half, and eats the rest of them before chasing the rest away. Beth watches in horror, sinking to the floor while she hugs her legs and cradles herself back and forth.
When the bees are gone, Beth is left without a scratch. The bear returns and looks down at the hive, sniffing the air for a sweet smell. He buries his face in the nest and devours the honey soaked into its containment. Beth just watches, fascinated by the animal's harmlessness.
"You're.. Not gonna hurt me?"
The bear looks up at her and licks his lips. Beth reaches forward cautiously, placing a hand on his head to pet him. He purrs like a cat. She smiles. "Awww.."
(Confessional: Beth)
"This whole time I've been focusing on my social stuff, on my 'friends.' But I forgot! Animals are my friends."
(Confessional end)
The Screaming Gophers watch as the Killer Bass take the right path.
"They go right, we go left." Heather orders.
"And get gangbanged again? I don't think so." Noah objects.
The Queen Bee glares. "Fine, you wanna be like that? You two go right. The rest of us are going to go left."
"Sounds good to me. Come on, Owen."
"See you guys on the other side!" Owen exclaims, waving at them as he and Noah follow the Bass.
"Wait, what about Beth? She could be in trouble." Trent brings up.
Heather rolls her eyes. "She'll be fine, Trent. And if she isn't here by the end of the day, Chris will find her and we'll vote her out. Right now, we need to worry about winning the challenge. So, come on, guys." She states, marching forward.
The rest of her team look at each other skeptically, but follow anyway. Walking down the path, the entire team suddenly finds themselves unable to move. Trent looks down at the puddle of sticky, grimy gravel they find themselves submerged in. "Uh.. guys, I don't wanna alarm anyone, but I think we're sinking!"
"Great plan, Heather." Gwen sarcastically says.
(Confessional: Heather)
"Yeah, I lost my temper there. In the future, I'll make sure those who piss me off don't last long here."
(Confessional end)
"How was I supposed to know that was going to happen?! Quick sand just looks like regular sand!" Heather yells, her cheeks red.
"Oh god, now we're gonna die! This is what we get for leaving Beth behind!" Lindsay cries.
Cody looks around, spotting a swinging vine just above him. "Wait! Don't panic, I have a solution!" He yanks the vine, hoisting himself out of the trap before wrapping his legs around the vine and swinging himself to the other side, jumping to safety. The vine swings back, and Trent takes it.
"Alright, good going, Cody!" Trent cheers, throwing his canoe to safety before swinging to the surface and throwing the vine to Gwen. Gwen does the same for Lindsay, who jumps into Cody's arms, hugging him tight.
"My hero! What can I ever do to repay you?" The blonde cooes, holding his head in her bosom.
"Maybe a movie..?" He dreamily questions.
"This is very touching and all," Heather stammers, climbing out along with LeShawna with help from Trent and Gwen. "But we still have a challenge to win! Let's move!"
Beth rides on the bear's back, the beast running through the mud and dodging killer beavers, along with the Stymphalians chasing them from behind. Beth shoots up her fist and howls, embracing her inner animal.
Chris narrates over footage of the Bass walking through the forest calmly, their lead secured. "The Killer Bass seemed to be taking on this challenge with relative ease. But then.. Disaster struck."
Geoff suddenly screams in pain when he brushes against a tree, falling down on his butt, his arm cradling his leg. "AH! I've been hit, man! Searing pain! It's over, dude!" The camera zooms in, unable to spot any problems with him.
"Geoff! What's wrong?" Bridgette rushes to his side, getting down on her knees.
"I.. I'm injured! My leg, it's.. Jabbed! It hurts, Bridge, real bad!" Bridgette holds Geoff's hands to calm him down.
"Easy, easy.." She assures.
"Can you move?" DJ asks.
"I uh.. Ah.. I don't think so! It's too much!" Geoff hisses in pain.
Courtney looks down at the situation and calculates what to do next. "Okay, Duncan, DJ, put him on his canoe and carry him with it."
"Why me?" Duncan questions with an eir of knowing.
"If I'm not mistaken, you're the only person here not holding a canoe." Courtney answers.
"Some teammate you are." Harold mutters.
"Shut up, Harold. Why else, princess?" He smirks.
She furrows her brows and groans. "...You know why."
"Yeah, I do. Just wanted to hear it from you." He helps pick Geoff up bridal style, winking at an already eye rolling CIT.
(Confessional: DJ)
"The man just.. Kept going! Honorable stuff."
(Confessional: Geoff)
"It was pretty touch and go. I was sure I wasn't gonna make it!"
(Confessional: Bridgette)
"I've seen surfers get maimed by sharks before, but this was just.. Awful."
(Confessional end)
As they put Geoff onto the canoe, Beth riding the bear zooms past, cheering. "Wooohoooo!"
"Oh no! The other team is coming!" Sadie exclaims.
"Stay focused, guys! That was only Beth, we still have our lead." Courtney states.
"Was that Beth?!" Gwen shouts, only a few steps away from the Bass.
"Come on, this way!" Heather commands, the entire team rushing past the Killer Bass.
"Hi, other team!" Owen waves as he passes them.
"Owen, focus!" Noah scolds.
"Sorry! Good luck, you guys!" The Bass are left in the dust. Courtney groans.
Duncan and DJ lift Geoff and the canoe up. "Let's go, before it's too late!" Harold says, and with that the team sprint off, lagging just behind the Gophers.
Beth is the first to arrive at the end of Boney Island, a sandy beach where the rain still hasn't stopped and the water looks like chemical waste. Chris is waiting for her, with Chef waiting in the chopper. He recoils when he sees the bear. "Cheeef! I think Beth finally snapped!"
"I told you that girl would!" He calls from the window.
She hops off the bear. "No, no, he's friendly! He saved my life in the woods. Did I win?"
"Well, you are the first camper here, so your team gets the head start. The challenge here is to build a campfire before the other team, which will then allow you to access the final part of the challenge: racing canoes back to Wawanakwa. So, get to it!"
"Thanks for everything, Simon." Beth hugs the bear tight, and the bear nuzzles her back with a smile before standing up and running back into the woods. The geek looks around for limber around the perimeter of the beach, eventually finding a stack of logs. She takes one slender one, a tiki idol falling right out of the stack. She gets down and picks it up, the tiki idol made of stone with a round body and gritted teeth.
"Oooh.. cool! This could be my good luck charm." She pockets it and brings the log back to the sand, along with a few sticks. That's when the Screaming Gophers rush into the challenge zone.
"What are we doing here?" Heather asks.
"Build a campfire before the Killer Bass do. Then, when you're done, get on your canoes and row to the-"
"We're here!" Courtney sputters, the Killer Bass arriving through labored breath.
"For crying out loud, can I just explain it once and be done?" Chris frustratingly asks.
"Sorry, Geoff got hurt and we fell behind." DJ explains.
Chris scoffs. "Don't care! Your challenge is to build a campfire before the other team, when you're done, board the canoes and race back to Wawanakwa, first team back wins immunity, loser sends someone home. Get all that? Go!"
The team's rush to complete the objective. Beth has already gathered enough wood to start and is clicking together two rocks. Her team approaches her.
"Beth, you're okay! I'm sooo sorry we fought!" Lindsay says, hugging her neck from behind.
"It's okay, Lindsay! We're in the lead because of it after all." Beth smiles warmly.
"Yeah, but-"
"It's okay, Linds! I forgive you. We're friends again."
Lindsay smiles back. Heather crouches down to her level with a smile, ready to deal the final blow.
"Beth, you've honestly shocked me. You proved way more useful than you have in the past."
"Thanks, Heather. I guess." She says half heartedly.
"Say, why don't we-"
"Heather, trying to light the fire here."
Heather visibly recoils, playing up her shock. "Oh.. okay. I'm sorry. I didn't know I was such a burden to you, too."
"You are a burden. You steal from me, you drag me through the mud, you make me do disgusting things just so you won't threaten me with lies to our team, you're the biggest burden I've ever met."
The team is in shock, visibly surprised by the words coming out of Beth's mouth. Heather starts the crocodile tears, whimpering before hiding her face in her hands. "O-oh.. wow. I see how it is! You think everybody around you is so bad just because they're pretty and nice on the surface. You think that you can do this attack of the nerds bullshit and put people down just because you're smart? Shame on you, Beth! Seriously, shame!" Gasping through her tears, Heather stands up and walks away.
The Gophers give her a look. "She's totally misrepresenting me. But if you really believe her, I can't stop you. You're all a bunch of sheep, and she's a shepherd. Hate me all you like." Beth simply continues striking the rocks together, sparks flying from the stones.
(Confessional: Gwen)
"Wow, I had no idea Beth was so ballsy. It kinda makes me respect her way more than Heather.
(Confessional: LeShawna)
"I grew up listening to beef after beef, but I ain't never heard anything that explicitly cold."
(Confessional end)
On the Killer Bass side, Harold, Sadie, Duncan, DJ, Bridgette and Courtney gather the timber while Geoff tries his hardest to help, crawling to and from the campfire with clumps of sticks. The camera zooms in to reveal a tiny splinter being the source of the 'life threatening' injury. DJ nudges Bridgette's shoulder.
"Hey, you might wanna take another look at Geoff. His injury could be serious, especially with how much he's still moving."
"You're probably right.."
"He could have jungle rot, or athlete's foot!" He whispers.
Wincing, Bridgette approaches the blonde. Geoff notices and spots DJ winking at him. "How's your leg?" She asks, crouching down to his level.
"It still stings, but I'm trying." He heaves.
"You shouldn't be over-exerting yourself. You could open the wound." She puts her gentle hands on his swole leg, feeling around the injury.
Geoff smiles. "I think I'll be okay. But thanks, Bridge. I really missed talking to you, ya know?"
She smiles too, looking up into his eyes. "...Yeah. I do. Why don't you watch the canoes? Who knows what those Gophers could try."
"Heh, yeah, you got it!" He crawls towards the boats, leaning on one of them before tilting his hat and shooting a finger gun at DJ. He shoots back. Bridgette resumes getting lumber.
(Confessional: DJ)
"I owed Geoff big time for helping me get over my fear of water, so when I saw him drowning with the ladies, I had to help him out."
(Confessional: Bridgette)
"Maybe I was too harsh on Geoff. I mean, the gift still stinks.. But the thought is what counts, right?"
(Confessional end)
Whilst the Gophers crowd around the campfire, minus LeShawna who comforts Heather while she cries, and Heather, Cody taps Trent's shoulder.
"Trent, my man, let's chat, man to man." Trent turns to face him.
"Uh, okay. What's up, Cody?"
"Lovely weather we're having, huh?"
"Pretty cool, yeah."
"Listen, there's a special lady here that really enjoys this kind of weather, and her name starts with a G."
"Gwen?"
"Bingo, bud!" Cody wraps an arm around his shoulder, lowering his voice. "Now, look, I tried it with Gwen.. many times. And she's just not into me."
"Ah, that's too bad, man."
"..But she is into you."
Trent blinks. "Uh.. seriously? Gwen is into me? Like.. for real into me?"
"Yeah, dude, are you kidding me? She spends almost every day with you, she got jealous when you gawked at Heather that one time, she gets all blushy and cute when someone mentions you! She likes you."
"Huh.. I guess those are signs, huh?" Trent smiles uncontrollably.
"You like her back?"
He looks down, counting quickly to nine in his head. "...Yeah. I do. Don't tell her, alright? I don't need that drama in my life." He looks at her with adoration. She doesn't seem to notice.
"Cross my heart and hope to die, bro." Cody replies. Trent pats his shoulder.
"Well.. thanks, man."
"Don't mention it." Cody shoots finger guns at him.
Beth continues trying to actually light the campfire.
"How much longer till fire comes out?" Lindsay asks.
"It takes a while, Lindsay. The Bass are probably struggling twice as much without a seasoned girl scout on their team." Beth gloats.
"Uh.. guys?" Trent points towards the Killer Bass' real campfire, smoke rising from the ember.
"Hey! How'd they do that so fast?" Gwen questions. Duncan shows off his lighter.
"Past problems require modern solutions, Gwenny. Sorry you didn't think of that." Duncan mocks, putting the tool away.
"Wait, we can use lighters?" Trent asks.
"I never said you couldn't. All I said was make a fire. Killer Bass, you're in the lead!" Chris exclaims, the Bass cheering happily.
"Let's move, guys!" Courtney shouts. The Bass sprint towards their canoes, pushing them out to water. Trent quickly takes out his lighter and lights the fire, much to Beth's dismay.
"Come on, they're getting away!" Trent directs. On their way to the canoes, Cody grabs Trent and Gwen's wrists, stopping them.
"Guys, you uh, you wanna switch partners? I think Lindsay is still kinda shaken up about the quicksand, and Beth could use some support." The stringbean suggests.
"Oh, uh.. Sure. If you're cool with that." Trent says, looking down at Gwen.
"Of course! I mean.. Yeah, sure." Gwen confirms, Trent's hand grabbing and holding hers. She freezes, blushing, before running with him to their canoe.
"Ladies, let's go!" Cody shouts at the girls, jumping into their canoe. Lindsay helps Beth into it before jumping in herself, beginning to paddle.
"LeShawna, Heather, you're gonna have to get on our canoe!" Noah yells, running past them with Owen.
Heather wipes her fake tears away before complying, jumping on the canoe together. The boat creaks when Owen steps inside. "Uh.. I have a better idea!" He jumps out and starts pushing the boat into the river, swimming them forward.
In the lead is Bridgette and Courtney, paddling for their lives with Gwen and Trent only a few strokes behind them. Boney Island's mist escapes them, their arms burning up with every quick brush of the paddles. Courtney grits her teeth, glaring at the punk couple before screaming, going as fast as she possibly can, docking them on the beach first. Gwen and Trent are shocked.
"Woah, Courtney! That was amazing!" Bridgette rushes in and hugs Courtney, calming her down from her prideful rage.
"YEEEEAAAAAAAAAAHHHHH! HAHA! I am the champion!"
(Confessional: Courtney)
"Even if we lose the challenge, that was the highlight of my stay here!"
(Confessional end)
Gwen and Trent dock shortly afterward, and Duncan, Sadie and Harold join them a few seconds later.
"Crap! We're losing!" Gwen says.
"Not so fast, look!" Trent points to Cody, Lindsay and Beth, getting good traction, neck and neck with Geoff and DJ, whilst Owen swims right behind them as fast as he can.
"We're soaring! We're gonna win!" Lindsay cheers.
"Wooohooo! Eat it, fishies!" Cody taunts in a rare moment of dominance as they pass Geoff and DJ, which is quickly lost when Beth accidentally flings her paddle into the ocean. "Uh.. Beth?"
"Oops.. keep going!" Beth shouts, their boat much slower now, but still faster than DJ and Geoff.
Owen paddles right past DJ and Geoff, with Heather and LeShawna laughing at their expense and Noah excitedly cheering his big buddy on. "Come on, Owen! Harder! Faster!"
Owen can't help but grin. "Pfft- hehehe!"
Noah sighs. "Oh, why do I even bother?"
Despite the size of their team, Owen is able to pass both canoes and throw himself, as well as the rest of the boat into Wawanakwa sand. The foursome groan in pain.
"Come on, DJ! Paddle!" Geoff yells.
"I'm trying!" DJ replies, his arms practically punching the water with the paddle.
"I'm so sorry, dude! I'm going as fast as I can!" Geoff struggles, wincing with every row.
"But you can't go so fast with your leg like that, man! I... I gotta go in. Like Owen."
"What? No! DJ, it's okay, w-we don't have to-"
"Geoff, if I don't, one of us is going home! I can't risk that one being you!"
Geoff tears up, confidently looking at him. "Dude.. I believe in you!"
DJ looks horrified at the water before slapping himself hard, jumping in and quickly pushing the canoe with his feet hitting the water as fast as he can, his sandals barely holding on. They get up next to Beth, Cody and Lindsay, reaching Wawanakwa closer and closer. Chris and Chef land on the grass above the beach, with Chris running out of his chopper with binoculars in his eyes to see who wins.
"It's so close you can practically taste the sweat on their brows! Who's gonna win?!"
DJ just barely passes them at the last second, launching himself and Geoff over the canoe and onto the sand. Cody, Beth and Lindsay stop just short of the beach, running out before stopping in defeat.
"The Killer Bass win!" Chris exclaims, throwing his hands up.
The Bass explode with cheers, picking DJ and Geoff up off their faces, enwrapping them in a giant group hug.
"No! We were so darn close!" Beth laments. Heather, LeShawna, Gwen and Trent approach her.
"Girl, you fucked up, big time. I can't defend you on this one." LeShawna states.
"You know what? I still carried in this challenge. I got us the closest to the shore, I got us a head-start on the campfire, AND I was slandered against the entire time by a twat who doesn't even like any of you." Beth argues.
"They know me, unlike you. I care about our team, which is why I try to lead it. You're done." Heather states coldly, her arms folded. Beth rolls her eyes and walks away.
"So.. wanna catch dinner?" Trent asks Gwen, embracing her hand again. She smiles.
"From Chef Hatchet? No way. Let's take a walk instead."
"I don't mind." Trent smiles, walking away with her. Gwen looks back at Cody and grins, giving him a thumbs up. He dreamily grins back, flashing two.
That night, at dinner, the Killer Bass and Screaming Gophers sit at their predetermined tables, minus Gwen and Trent on their walk. Chef slaps a pile of mystery meat on Owen's plate. "Mm, smells like elk with a hint of snake and shark fin!" The fat boy muses.
"Get that boy in the CIA, that's just unnatural." Chef says. Cody and Noah get their schlop next.
"Owen, Cody, listen:" Noah pulls them to the side, holding his tray of 'food' unenthusiastically. "there's no doubt in my mind that Beth is out of here."
"Finally." Cody says with a sigh of relief.
"Thing is, Heather probably thinks she has one over on me right now, since she's about to get rid of a liability and the entire team sympathizes with her."
"Okay, so?" Cody presses.
"So we let her think that. Underestimate us. When the time is right, and soon enough it will be, we'll get her good."
"Next challenge, we should get her out. I like her, but if you're this determined to get her eliminated, it should be sooner, not later. You taught me that." Owen says.
Noah smiles. "I guess I did. Okay, next challenge, we get everyone on team Noah."
"You mean Geek Squad, right?" Cody corrects.
"Go team Geek Squad!" Owen enthuses loudly.
Noah rolls his eyes. "Ugh… Go team Geek Squad."
Sitting at the table, the team talks behind Beth's back. When she sits down, a few of their eyes linger on her, while Lindsay tries to move to sit next to her, but Heather stops her. "You go sit with her, and you're done. Stay." She whispers. Lindsay sits back down, frowning.
Beth takes the tiki idol out of her pocket as a centerpiece, scooping slop onto a spoon. Just before she can chew, Chris enters the room.
"Hey there, kiddies!" The host greets.
"I am not a kid! And just for the record, I-"
"Ooh, nobody cares, Harold. Gophers, twenty minutes 'till your time to vote comes up. So finish your din-din quick." He snaps his fingers, looking down at the table. They all look unamused. Chris does a double take when he spots the tiki idol near Beth's plate. "Woah, woah, woah, where'd you get that?"
"What? This? I found it on Boney Island." Beth picks up the idol to show everyone.
The room gasps!
"You found it on Boney Island? The place where I specifically said not to take anything from or else you'll be cursed?"
"That explains the bad luck with the paddle.." Cody says.
"If you weren't dead before? You're six feet under now." Heather hisses.
"I'm so sorry, I had no idea! I'll bring it right back!" Beth jumps out of her seat anxiously.
"You damn well better. I'm gonna go now, before something unfortunate happens." Chris speed walks out of the mess hall. The Gophers glare at her before she runs out, too.
At the elimination ceremony, the Gophers sit on log seats while the campfire crackles, reminding them of the challenge they had previously lost. The moon shines through among the stage lights that decorate the surrounding area. Chris holds a plate of eight marshmallows.
"You guys know the drill. If I call your name, you're safe and can claim your marshmallow. Cody, you're safe."
"Alright!" The brunette cheers, running up before spiking his marshmallow with a stick.
"LeShawna."
She stands up and struts her way to Chris, taking her marshmallow and stuffing it in her mouth, pointing two fingers at her eyes, then at Beth's. Heather confidently smirks.
"Trent and Gwen." He tosses their marshmallows at them, and they both land on their laps. They smile at one another.
"Owen." He throws his marshmallow into Owen's wide maw.
"Lindsay." Lindsay comes up to get hers, looking back at Beth anxiously. Beth pouts at her friend.
"And….Noah!" Noah catches him in mid-air, giving Heather a side-eye.
Heather rolls her eyes at his pathetic taunt, folding her arms as she waits for her marshmallow to be handed out.
"Campers, this is the final marshmallow of the evening. The camper who does not receive a marshmallow must immediately report to the dock of shame, board the Boat of Losers, and leave. That means you're outta the contest. And you can't come back. Ever. And the last marshmallow of the night goes to…
.
.
.
.
"Heather."
Heather catches the marshmallow with one hand, grinning evilly at Beth. "See ya later, gossip girl."
Beth stands up, hanging her head as she walks past Heather. She stops, turns around and yanks her hair as hard as she can, with both hands, growling like a dog as the raven haired Asian screams for help. "OW! My hair! Let go, you- Ah!"
"Uh, Chef?" Chris calls on a walkie talkie. Chef pulls up in the Boat of Losers and runs towards the scene, dragging Beth off Heather as she pants for air. Beth flips her off with two fingers and blows a raspberry at her as she's held over the cook's shoulder.
"I love you, Lindsay! I know you didn't vote for me! I'll see you again, someday!"
"I hope so! Call meeee!" Lindsay replies, waving her goodbye.
"I will!" Chef throws her into the back of the boat.
"Control yoself, girl!" He scolds, jumping into the driver's seat before driving the boat away from Wawanakwa.
"The rest of you, go back to your cabins and get some rest. Or don't. Whatever works. Chow!" He fingerbangs them goodbye.
Back at the Gopher cabin, while most of the boys are out, Cody and Owen are getting ready to lie down. Entering the cabin, Cody notices something bulging from under his covers. Owen spots it too.
"What's that, Code-ster?"
"It's.." Cody pulls back the blanket and his jaw drops. "No. Fucking. Way."
"What, what is it?"
"Check it, dude!" Cody turns around with a black lace bra strap in his hands, the bra itself looking worn. Owen's eyes widen.
"You mean, that's…"
"Uh-huh! Woohoo!" He pumps his fists into the air, taking a long sniff of the cups.
"But.. but how?" Owen asks, bewildered.
Cody sighs satisfyingly. It smells just like incense. "A gentleman never kisses and tells, Owen, my man. Enjoy doing my laundry!"
Outside, sitting on the dock, is Gwen and Trent, their feet hanging off the board, their hands on top of one another's as they talk. LeShawna watches from her window with a smile. "I stand corrected."
In the Bass' girl cabin, Bridgette accidentally knocks over the change bowl Geoff made for her. "Oh no!" She gets down to pick it all up. Courtney is the only other girl in the room.
"What happened?"
"The change bowl shattered. Got any glue?"
Courtney snorts. "No offense, Bridge, but who would ever wanna glue that thing back together?"
Bridgette sorts through the bits of broken glass, picking up the taped together picture of her and Geoff. He must have taken this with that little polaroid he has in his room. She smiles, finding it almost touching. "Maybe I would.."
Mid Credits
Chef rolls up to Boney Island in the Boat of Losers. "Hurry up and throw that thing out, I ain't got all night."
"What do you do at night?" Beth asks curiously.
"You don't wanna know, girlie."
Beth tosses the tiki idol off the boat and onto the island. The bear from earlier crawls from behind the tree line and spots her, waving with a smile. Beth gasps and waves back excitedly before the boat drives forward.
At Playa Des Losers, Chef pulls out Beth's chair for her before sitting across from her. "What's this place?"
"Your new home for the next six weeks, give or take." Chef answers.
"I get to be on a resort over that crummy island? Why didn't Chris tell us about this before?!"
"Well you know now, don'tcha?" Chef pulls out the clipboard and pencil he uses for every interview with eliminated contestants.
"Heyyy, Beth, good to see you!" Izzy proclaims, doing a triple front flip towards the two, stopping just short of their table.
"E-scope."
"Cheffy." They glare at each other wickedly.
Beth is shocked. "Izzy? You're here? I thought you were on the run from the RCMP!"
"I am! Or, yeah, I totally am! Isn't it wild? HAHAH!"
"Um.. Yeah.. so why are you here?"
"Oh you know, just hanging out!" She answers.
"Shoo, girl, I got an interview to conduct."
"Ugh, fine. We should totally catch up on your psychotic tendencies later, though! Pulling Heather's hair? That was awesome!"
"Thanks! It felt awesome." Beth smiles, showing off her braces. Izzy black flips away into the pool, where Justin is shirtless, laying on a lawn chair, and Katie admires him from the chair next to him.
"Ooh, look, it's Katie, and Justin! Justin, you're sunbathing at night?" Beth questions.
"It's called moonbathing, actually. Katie here says that I absorb all the moon's positive crystal energy and become one with my positive mental core through photosynthesis technology in my brain waves.. Whatever that means." Justin explains.
"It so works! It works for me, too! Every day, I gain more and more courage to reach out to Sadie again!" Katie adds.
"That's so cool!" Beth compliments.
"Beth! Focus!" Chef demands.
"Oh, sorry sir! I'm just kind of happy to be here! That show sucked."
"Damn right it did." Eva agrees, folding her arms by the pool.
"I kinda liked it, eh." Ezekiel says, trying to throw in some positivity.
"Shut up, homeschool." the female bully grunts.
"Hey, leave Zeke alone!" Eva growls at Tyler before kicking him into the pool.
Beth snickers at the display before turning her attention to Chef. "First question! Name?"
"You know that, it's Beth Gadon!"
"Right. Gay-don."
"I said GUH-don!"
"Whatever. Second question, what are your likes and dislikes?"
"Likes? I love animals. Working on a farm my whole life kinda made me socially awkward compared to a lot of other teens my age. I guess I just like solitude! I love a good book too, and cartoons are still really fun to this day. I also like K-pop, and country, aaaand pop music. As for dislikes? Heather. Big time. Popular girls always suck."
"That we can agree on." Eva says from behind Chef.
"Ooh, I also really like boy bands! I don't like metal, though, or rap. They're too mean.."
"Next question, what is your favorite food?"
"Ooooh.. Well, as much as I love pigs, I have to go with bacon! It's soooo good." She licks her lips.
"What is your dream job?"
"I'm already living my dream job, as a farmer. Working with animals, making money off pretty crops.. Only thing I'd change is that I'd live all alone. No dad, no mom, just Beth and her animals!"
"Sounds kinda peaceful. Okay, describe your home life, while on the topic."
"Well, aside from taking care of the animals, feeding them, riding them, cleaning up after them, it's a lot of hard work, napping and eating. My mom works at home and she's really patient with me, and my dad has an office job to help pay for utilities. He can be a bit abrasive, but that's where I get it from, hehe."
"Final question, what would you do if you had won the money?"
She taps her chin. "What I would have done… I guess help fund the farm and go on a trip to a country in Europe with my mom. Either France, Italy or Germany, I can't decide!"
Chef writes the last answer before standing up. "Alright, we're good here. Enjoy your stay, kid."
"Enjoy your suspiciously private night, Chef!" Beth yells, waving him off.
"I will, kid. I will. Ehehehe.." Chef looks down at his waist with a devilish smirk before walking off the resort and onto his boat.
