Chapter 8 Trial

At Shinto there was a large gathering of demigods, Lumen Sages, and Umbra Witches gathered to see the trial of Balder, Rosa, and their daughter. The trial was overseen by Grand Elder Hel, head of the Umbra Witches, Grand Elder Odin, head of the Lumen Sages, Emperor Strada the ruler of Shinkoku Trastrium, and the Eight Guardian Generals. Hel spoke first.
"We are gathered here today to discuss the crimes committed by the Lumen Sage Balder and Umbra Witch Rosa. The two of them not only had a romantic relationship together which resulted in them getting married, but they also conceived a child! A child capable of using both darkness and light!"
There was muttering among the gather crowd.
"This is a serious situation." Said Emperor Strada.
Balder glanced at Rosa and his daughter wrapped in a grey shawl, before facing forward and speaking.
"Your honors. I know what I did violated the clans' rules and I will take any punishment you wish to distribute. I only request that both my wife and daughter receive no punishment. They are both innocent. I am the husband and father and I will face all the charges."
The crowd was stunned by this declaration of sacrifice. Rosa looked at Balder with sad pleading eyes begging him not to go through with this. Balder just gave his wife a sad smile. It was then that Asura spoke up.
"I can't believe that we are actually considering of punishing this family. That sage and that witch are two of the finest warriors I've seen on the battlefield outside the Eight Guardian Generals. The love they share for each other is what made them strong. To punish them for that would be a big mistake."
"They had a child." Said Hel.
"That's what most people in love do. This child could grow up to be a great warrior that could help in the fight against Vlitra." Said Asura.
"What would you suggest we do with this family then?" Asked Odin.
"Have them moved into Shinto where I and the other Eight Guardian Generals can keep a close eye on them. If the child grows up and becomes a threat, I will personally deal with it." Said Asura.
Strada, Hel, and Odin leaned in close to discuss the matter in whispers and a few minutes later they made their decision.
"Balder. Rosa. You and your daughter have been pardoned of your crimes. You well be moved to Shinto where you will be watched and supervised by Asura and the other Eight Guardian Generals. Case dismissed." Said Strada.
Balder and Rosa exchanged smiles of relief and joy as Asura approached them.
"Thank you for speaking and saving us General Asura." Said Balder bowing his head.
"It was no problem. It was the right thing to do. What's your daughter's name?" Said Asura.
"Her name is Cereza." Said Rosa.
"That's a good name." Said Azura as he smiled down at the little baby.
