Allie lazily climbed out of bed, rubbing her eyes as the morning sun streamed in through the window. She yawned before entering the bathroom and tiredly took a toothbrush from beside the sink then began slowly lining it with toothpaste. It took a bit of brushing before her eyes finally adjusted.
A scream tore out through the motel room and Allie came running out of the bathroom. The shirt she had been wearing last night of Sam's now hung off of her like a dress, going nearly down to the floor. Her blonde curls were wild and unkempt. Worst of all? She stood 4 foot nothing. She was, in fact, her ten-year-old self. Like, physically. She was a child. "Am I dreaming? This is very realistic." She squeezed her eyes shut, only to open them and focus on Dean and Sam who had also been transformed into children. They had been de-aged nearly twenty years. Sam appeared to be around 9, Dean 13. "You guys should look in the mirror."
Sam stared at the tiny version of Allie in disbelief. He was a child again. He glanced over at Dean and then at himself in the mirror. "This isn't possible." He looked back at Allie with confusion. She was small, adorable, and had the biggest blue eyes. They almost looked like an Otter's, nearly taking up a quarter of her face. "I don't understand what happened." Were they dreaming? What the hell was going on?! Large hands grazed his own cheeks. Definitely real.
He walked over to the bed and sat down next to Allie, looking at her curiously. "Are you okay? How do you feel?" He couldn't help but smile at the sight of youth. It was so surreal to see her as a child again. She had always been pretty but now she was absolutely innocent. So cute.
Dean blinked at the sight of himself in the bathroom mirror. It was like he had gone back in time. Everything was tiny. Dean looked over at Sam and Allie. Sam had become a skinny little nerd and Allie looked like a chubby baby in the face. "I'm 13!" He shouted at Allie, voice croaking slightly. He couldn't believe that he'd been turned into a teenager again. All the hormones, all the acne...he just wanted to shoot himself. "Great." He looked over at Sam again. "I hate this."
He ran a hand through his short-cropped hair. Why couldn't he have been made younger? He glanced back at Allie. Her eyes were somehow even larger when she was a kid, rendering it difficult for him not to stare at the cerulean bliss.
"I feel like I'm part of the Goonies." She groaned as Sam spoke. Her voice was especially high pitched, it made her grimace but then Dean spoke. His voice was cracking like crazy. "Ha!" She pointed. "You're hitting puberty!" He'd have to live through it again. That was gold. She'd cherish it forever. Allie rummaged through her bag to try and find something that would fit her. Nothing. Everything would be too big. She decided to put on a dress with a little belt around the waist to try and keep it on. Her freckles were more pronounced. She always had hated them. Allie felt a bit of sting in her mouth. She rolled her tongue along her teeth only to find that her braces were back. Fuck. This was before she got her braces off! How did she not notice when she was brushing her teeth? Was she that fuckin' tired? She suddenly shut her mouth and stopped smiling.
Dean gave her a bitchface as soon as she laughed at his voice. Puberty all over again! Son of a bitch! It was like a nightmare that never ended. Dean had always hated puberty the first time and he had thought he was done with it for good. Only thing that was positive about it was… chicks. There was no way he was going to survive it a second time. "Whatever," he mumbled, trying to hide how upset he was about it. "At least I won't have to go through it three times. Second time's a charm." He glanced down at Allie again, looking her up and down with an amused smile, taking in her braces— and she was still laughing at him? "Cute." He grinned. "Braceface."
Sam laughed, smiling at Allie with appreciation. This was going to be gold, he already knew that. The two wouldn't stop until they were probably both yelling. "Don't be mean to Dean, he's going through a tough time." Sam ruffled her hair gently and watched as Allie pulled away to fix it. "I think you're pretty even with braces." He leaned over to see her teeth. They were shiny silver and it was a little awkward but Sam smiled anyways. "It's like you're part metal or something." He joked, hoping that she wouldn't be offended, though the words certainly sounded better in his head. Sam knew Allie wasn't vain but she was definitely proud of her looks and he wondered how she would handle being de-aged.
"Don't call me braceface!" Allie yelled and shoved Dean. "Fuck off!" The swear sounded comical from her high pitched kid voice. Braceface. Ugh. She used to hate that. Her braces were the whole reason she had become the hot, popular girl in high-school. Once she got them off in the summer of eighth grade she told herself that she'd never be bullied again. "You're an idiot!" She tapped her small foot against the floor, large eyes blinking while staring him down.
"Don't hit me," Dean said, holding his hands up and stepping back, "I'm too young to die." He grinned at Allie before giving Sam a high five, impressed that he had managed to rile her up so quickly. Usually he didn't prod at her on purpose but… as a child? The sight was hilarious. Her little arms were flailing around in fury. "So what's our next move?" he asked, glancing between Allie and Sam, hoping one of them would have an idea about how to reverse the spell that had turned them all into kids. "See if the witch did this? We didn't find any hex bags last night."
"Maybe we should just wait it out and see if it wears off." Sam looked at Allie's angry face. "Or maybe not." He suggested. He didn't want Allie to be mad at him or Dean. They would just have to find the witch and make her change them back into their real ages. Sam grabbed his laptop and sat on the bed next to Allie and typed in Witch Spell Age Reversal into the search engine. A lot of hits came up about anti-aging skin cream but nothing about turning people younger.
"Maybe we could talk to a witch who might be able to help us?" He suggested. Not that they really knew anyone. Witches weren't exactly their go-to besties. He could only hope that their… predicament wouldn't prove more dire than what they were currently facing.
They all exited the motel room. Dean had his keys in hand but Allie stopped them when they arrived. "Wait... you can't drive. You're 13." She pointed out. "Oh no..." she thought of all the other things they wouldn't be able to do. "We're screwed." They couldn't drive, couldn't use their credit cards, couldn't use their fake identities..."so... I guess... we bus?" She shrugged. Dean would have to act as their caretaker of sorts so they didn't get stopped around town. "This isn't the 80's. People will find it weird that we're walking around alone."
Dean glared at Allie when she called him out on his age. Right… can't fucking drive Baby! His Baby! This day was just getting better and better. "You're right," he admitted reluctantly, looking down at the ground. "We can't drive or use credit cards or anything." His gaze flickered back up at Allie and the oldest of the trio nodded his head. "Yeah, we'll have to bus. We'll just say I'm taking care of you two. I'm still older than both of you." He shrugged, hoping that they could still do whatever needed to be done. "We'll just have to find a different way to get around town."
They made their way through town before finding the perfect solution. A garage sale! Three old bikes were on the front lawn. Perfect. But they didn't have money… cash…
Allie acted really cute, channeling her inner child. Said their bikes had been stolen and they just wanted to go to a baseball game together. Her and Sam pulled out the puppy dog eyes and before they knew it they were off to the races. When was the last time she had ridden a bike? "These seats weren't made for girls." She shifted uncomfortably. It felt like the damn thing was digging into her tiny thighs. So... hard. Why didn't people make these things plush? She wobbled on the bike a bit before getting the hang of it. "This is kind of fun!" Memories of feeling free came back to her. Young and carefree, able to feel the wind in her hair and ride a bike downhill.
The best part was seeing the look on Dean and Sam's faces. So happy, so... elated.
Dean was mainly quiet. Growing up everything had been conditional for him, even his own happiness. Really he hadn't ever been a child. But back then when he rode a bike? All of that faded away. He was young when he started going on hunts with his dad. He hadn't experienced the purity of these moments in a long, long time but it came back so easily. "Yeah" he responded slowly while focusing on the feeling of a breeze flowing past his cheeks, sun shining down on his forehead and the bumps of the pavement below the wheels. A memory of Sam riding on his handle bars brought a small smile to his face.
The scene reminded Sam of when he was young and he didn't have all the burdens that came with adulthood. He was just happy. The sun shone through the trees, casting shadows of leaves onto their faces as they rode. The air was cool but fresh, the trees were lush, and Sam could hear birds singing happily from above. The three of them rode side by side down the empty road, not saying much, but enjoying each other's company anyway. He smiled to himself, content with his surroundings and companions for the moment. The sound of the bikes' wheels against the pavement became rhythmic and soothing. Kind of like a song that you hadn't heard in a while, but it was just as good as the first time.
Eventually they stopped at a small creek to catch their breaths. She hadn't felt so energized in years; it just flowed through her like a river and everything looked so... bright and warm. Allie almost felt like... what if they didn't find the witch? What if they could enjoy the innocence for just a little while longer?
See, Allie had friends growing up of course but...she never really had a best friend. Now she had two. Experiencing something so youthful and tame with them brought a comfort to her heart that she hadn't expected. She loved them and they loved her. That was something she didn't have as a kid. Sure she had a somewhat normal childhood in terms of being raised as a civilian but bullying had left her lonely for much of her elementary years. Was the witch evil? This didn't feel evil. It felt soothing.
"Did you guys ever try to catch minnows when you were kids?" Her small body climbed off of the bike and made her way down to the creek. "Wonder if I can..." she trailed off and her eyes darted while she stared at the water before she quickly took off her shoes.
"What? No way." Sam took his shoes off and placed them beside Allie's on the bank of the creek. He walked slowly towards her and looked down at the water in front of him. There was no way he could catch a fish with his bare hands, it was impossible. Especially a minnow! They were… impossible. "We need a net." Sam said thoughtfully, looking at Allie as she stood in the shallow water. "But maybe if we just wait for one to swim close enough?" Sam watched as Allie leaned down to look into the water and he followed suit. He tried to remain still as he searched the creek for any sign of movement. There was one thing that felt exceptionally strange. He was short again, closer to the ground. No longer six foot four.
"We should have bought a fishing pole." Dean commented from where he sat on the bank. "I can fish pretty good. Haven't tried with my hands in a long time..." Dean looked out at the water and then over at Sam and Allie who were both crouched down by the edge of the creek. "You'll scare them away if you move too fast or make any sudden movements." Dean stood up and made his way to where they were standing. He stepped into the water and moved closer until he was right behind Allie with a sly grin. Dean crouched down behind her and watched as Sam looked up at him with a questioning expression.
The older Winchester held a finger to his lips, gesturing for Sam to be quiet for what he was about to do before grinning mischievously. Something was about to be wet— and it wasn't the damn fish!
Sam rolled his eyes and focused his attention back on the water. He remained still and waited for the fish to come to him. He had seen people catch fish with their bare hands before, but he'd never actually tried it himself. When they were kids they didn't exactly get many wholesome memories like this while being carted around the country. Maybe they could buy some fishing poles at a sporting goods store later on? The thought actually felt nice. As if he had even forgotten that soon this would simply be a fleeting memory. They were present, fully living in the moment.
Sam felt a light tap on his shoulder and looked over at Dean to see if he'd spotted a fish nearby. "What is it?" Sam whispered, trying to be quiet. But when he saw Dean's grin, Sam knew exactly what was coming next. "Dean..." Sam started to stand up but it was too late.
"A fishing pole? Minnows are sma—" She didn't get far with her reply. Before long she was hoisted up into Dean's pre-teen arms and thrown into the deep end of the creek. It tasted like shit. Some it got into her mouth due to her yelping, but it was refreshing! When she came up she had an expression of shock. "Are you kidding me?! You're such a child!" Well... technically that was true. Allie wiped the water off of her face. "Now the minnows are gonna be gone..." she sighed and splashed the water in pouting frustration.
Dean smirked triumphantly and stood up from the creek bed. "Well I didn't want to tell you this Allie," he said, trying not to laugh at how much of a child she looked at that moment. "But the minnows are attracted to people who smell." Dean grinned, insinuating that she was… ripe — and took off running in the direction they had come from earlier, not caring that he was soaking wet because he had decided it would be hilarious to throw Allie across the creek. "Run Sammy!" He yelled back at his brother while glancing over his shoulder to see if Sam had followed him or if Allie was chasing after them. "I think you just killed all the minnows with the sight of your braces"
Sam laughed at Dean as he took off running and Allie splashed in the water. "Dean, stop!" Sam called after him but it was no use. Dean kept going and Sam looked back at Allie with an apologetic look expression. "I'm sorry, he's crazy!" Sam ran after Dean and caught up to him fairly easily, but he decided to play along since it was kind of funny. "We're so dead!" Sam yelled, laughing as they continued to run through the woods together. "I can't believe you threw her into the water!"
They kept running until Sam noticed a clearing ahead and slowed down to take a break from running, his chest huffing and puffing from the effort of moving his small body so much. No more long strides from tall legs!
Dean finally stopped running when Sam paused, laughing breathlessly while leaning over to rest his hands on his knees. "That was hilarious." He grinned at Sam before standing upright and glancing back at Allie who was now in pursuit. "You can't catch us!" Dean yelled, taking off running again when he saw Allie was closer than he expected her to be. "She's gonna kill us!" He laughed, looking over at Sam as they raced through the woods together. "Let's go! Faster, Sammy!" Dean said excitedly as they got further away from the creek and closer to a clearing. They had almost reached the edge when Dean tripped over a fallen branch and fell face first onto the ground, wincing in pain.
Allie used his falling to her advantage. "You're dead meat, Winchester!" She pounced onto Dean like a cheetah, pinning his arms down. "Sam! Help me or you're gonna be six feet deep!" She was strong compared to her small frame and dainty arms. Sam was even tinier but together they could hold Dean. How? Sheer will and determination. "I'm serious! Do it or you'll be next and you don't want to know what I have planned!"
Sam hesitated before moving closer to help Allie pin Dean to the ground. "Come on Dean, I don't want to know what she has planned for me." Sam grabbed one of Dean's arms while Allie held the other down. He watched as Allie tried to keep him from escaping her grip but it didn't take long for her to lose control of his other arm. "Get him, Duck!" A fond name that he had begun utilizing after her arcade shenanigans. Well, the first one. Sam yelled encouragingly as Dean tried to free himself from both of their holds. "You're so dead, dude!" Sam laughed while watching Allie struggle to hold onto him.
Allie climbed on top of him. "I'm going to stick a gross, wet finger in his ear." She laughed maniacally. "MWAHAHAHA!" She was theatrical with her revenge, taking her time to stick her finger in her mouth and make it all slobbery. "Here comes the airplane!" She cooed sadistically as Dean writhed beneath her tiny body before suddenly shoving her spit laced finger in his ear canal, not enough to hurt him but certainly enough to make him squirm.
Sam started laughing loudly when Allie shoved her finger in Dean's ear, watching as his face contorted in disgust. "That's what you get!" Sam exclaimed, moving off of Dean so that he could sit next to him and watch him get tortured by Allie. "She's so mean!" Sam joked, looking up at Allie as she continued to torture Dean with her saliva coated finger. It felt good to take on Dean, nice payback from all the times his older brother had messed with him when they were actually kids. Now he had backup in the form of a small blonde.
Dean was struggling to escape from Allie and Sam's clutches as they held him down. "Stop! Stop!" He shouted as Allie's slimy finger slid into his ear canal. "Please! Stop it!" He cried out in horror as she wiggled her finger around inside his head and Dean was powerless to do anything but beg for her to let him go. It was gross, disgusting, and horrifying— he couldn't believe that Sam was actually letting this happen to him. "Why won't you help me?!" He screamed at his brother who was sitting there laughing like it was some big joke. "I'm going to kill both of you for this!"
Sam was rolling around on the ground laughing as he watched Allie torture Dean with her finger. She was relentless. It was sort of amazing. His friend never got tired of fucking with his older brother. "Dean you're such a baby." Sam sat up and smiled down at his brother who was now free from Allie's clutches and staring daggers at both of them. "It's your own fault for throwing her into the creek." Sam stood up and offered Dean a hand to help him up.
He glanced over at Allie who was standing there with a satisfied smile on her face. Sam gave her a thumbs up before looking back at Dean who was… seemingly not impressed. Judging by his scowl.
Dean reluctantly accepted Sam's offer to help him up, pulling himself off the ground with his brother's help. He glared over at Allie who had that stupid little grin on her face. She thought she was so tough but he was going to show her that he could dish it out just as well as he could take it. "Oh yeah?" Dean challenged her, stepping closer to where Allie was standing so that they were facing each other directly. Dean reached up to pull at one of her braces, yanking on it as hard as he could while she squealed and tried to get away from him.
"There. Now we're even."
Allie nearly bit his finger off. She yelped in pain as one of the elastics shot back and hit her in the gums. Tears brimmed her eyes. "That fucking hurts you prick!" It was clear he had never been cursed with braces. She wrestled away from him and rubbed her cheek in pain. "You suck. You deserved it." Allie shot Sam a look of large, saddened eyes and climbed back onto her bike. She knew Dean didn't mean it but her braces were a soft spot. Suddenly she felt like her younger self again, insecure and vulnerable.
Guilt coursed through him as he witnessed the the tears in Allie's eyes, the way that she was rubbing at her cheek where her braces had hit her. "Hey…" Dean said softly, reaching out for her arm as she climbed back onto her bike but she pulled away from him and refused to look at him anymore. Dean sighed heavily and ran a hand through his hair. "I'm sorry, okay? I didn't know that it would hurt." Well, at least not that bad. He tried to apologize but it didn't seem like Allie was in the mood for talking to him at the moment.
Dean stood there for a minute before turning back to face Sam who had remained silent the entire time.
Sam watched the interaction between Allie and Dean with amusement, thinking it was hilarious how immature they could be sometimes. But then Allie walked away without saying anything and it was like a switch had been flipped. Dean looked really upset about what happened, but Sam wasn't sure if Allie was really mad at him or just teasing. She often liked to mess with Dean, which is why he found it odd that she didn't try to talk to him before leaving them alone together.
"Is she really mad?" Sam asked, glancing over at Dean who seemed unsure of himself. "Do you think we should go after her or just let her calm down?"
"Yeah," Dean nodded his head and ran a hand through his hair before starting after her. "She's definitely mad." He sighed heavily. Allie was a tough chick but still human and it seemed he had hit a nerve with her, or just really hurt her. Maybe her feelings? Best to work on repairing things before she worked herself up and got angrier. That could happen at times. "Let's go talk to her, I feel like such an idiot," Dean said softly, following Sam in the direction that Allie had left them in earlier. Sometimes they got too into their 'playing' and took things too far. The line was always… blurry.
Allie just pedaled. Being vulnerable had gotten a little better for her but sometimes it was still hard. This version of herself was one that she hadn't liked. Impish, small, weak, ugly. Although it had been fun to be kids again with the boys it was also... daunting. They were witnessing a part of her that she had kept locked away for a long time. Childhood innocence wasn't really something that Allie had experienced much. She was often out casted for her energetic nature and tomboyish attitude. That's why she had changed so much for high school. You would think 27 years on the planet would wipe away childhood wounds— it didn't.
The sun had started to set over the trees and Allie grimaced as she reached the motel room. She suddenly was acutely aware of the fact that Dean had the key. So, she sat outside and lightly kicked rocks while waiting for them to get back.
By the time the two brothers found Allie outside of their purchased room, he felt a bit deflated. They didn't actually fight that often, at least not to the point of her being angrier for longer than a few hours. Hopefully, he'd be able to talk her out of heavier rage. When he saw how upset she still looked he made his way towards her slowly before stopping directly in front of her so that they were face to face again. "Hey," he said softly, crouching down in front of her and resting his hands on her knees so that they were at eye level with each other. "I'm sorry I hurt you. I didn't mean to. I shouldn't have done it." Dean apologized sincerely, looking up into Allie's tear filled eyes before leaning forward and gently kissing her cheek where he had hurt her earlier. She looked so sweet; the child version of her... he wanted to reach out and hug her.
"Please forgive me, Alls. I'm sorry." They may have been adults but right now it truly did feel like they were just kids, the kids that needed more love in their lives. "You know I'd never hurt you on purpose."
His tender kiss on her cheek did make her feel better. He was trying. "Okay" she spoke softly and smiled a bit. "Thank you." There was something wholesome about the moment, something she wanted to hold close to her heart and never forget. She turned and looked into Dean's eyes, darling blues meeting with his green. "It's okay, Dean." She reached out for his hand and gently stroked it with the back of her thumb. Their friendship was a healing ribbon that tied the both of them, regardless of age.
Soon enough Sam had joined them and they all stood before coming together in a group hug. Maybe it was because of the proposed spell, but who cared? They all had gotten something that they needed out of it.
The next day Bobby showed up after receiving a call from them. It sucked but they needed help to figure out what the fuck was going. How could they investigate as children? When Allie came to the door she stared up at her father. "Dad." She spoke in a soft voice. "I'm ten." Bobby had been around for the boys but he hadn't been in her life until she was already an adult. "Physically. Mentally I'm still 27."
Bobby stared at his daughter in disbelief. "I-uh, what?" He had no idea what the hell he was supposed to say to her. Allie was ten years old but it was clear that she hadn't lost any of her memories. She was still an adult in a kid's body, which had to be terrifying for her. He reached out to place his hand on top of her head, gently patting it while giving her a gentle smile. "Well I'm sure whatever caused this will wear off soon, sweetheart." He spoke while wheeling around the room.
Allie moved her little legs across the motel room. It must have looked hilarious for him. "We were investigating a witch in town. Tons of bodies." She got onto her tippy toes to try and give her father their research. "Then we woke up the next day like this. She must have known we were onto her." Allie threw her hands up in exasperation. "But why turn us into the Losers Club? Why not kill us?" A reference to Stephen King's IT. She assumed Bobby would get it.
"Well I don't know why the hell she turned ya' into children but if she knew you were on to 'er then maybe that's why she didn't kill ya." Bobby shrugged and took the files from Allie, flipping through them quickly before handing them back to her. "You guys need to figure out what spell she used on you so that we can turn ya back into adults again." He was acutely aware that they must have been frustrated, especially since they couldn't go anywhere without looking suspicious. "You kids stay here. I'm goin' to the witch."
Dean frowned at Bobby's words. "What do you mean you're going alone? We're coming with you." He looked over at Sam who nodded in agreement before glancing back at Bobby. "It doesn't matter that we're kids right now. We can still help." He was not about to be left behind in a motel room while Bobby went to find the witch that had put the spell on them. They needed to find her so that they could get rid of it before anything else happened. "Besides, it's not like we haven't faced witches before." Dean tried to reassure Bobby but he knew it was a lost cause.
"Oh no. I don't care how old you think you are, you aren't comin' with me." Bobby shook his head firmly. "The three of you can't leave this motel room, you hear me? If someone sees you they're going to think you've run away from home." He pointed at Dean before walking over to the door and opening it. "Stay here," Bobby instructed again, making sure they knew he meant business before exiting the motel room and shutting the door behind him. "Now which one of these sons a bitches is the witch..." He muttered under his breath as he wheeled towards the car and got in. How the hell was he going to do this without the use of his legs? Rufus?
Allie fell back into the bed. "This blows." They couldn't do anything, not a damn thing. She watched as Dean raided the mini fridge in hopes of finding a beer. "All gone. Can't go to the liquor store either. Too young." She groaned and covered her face with her hands. "Hope my dad's got a plan. Sam, you wanna try and find the spell?" It's really all they could do. No other option.
Dean grumbled in frustration when he couldn't find any beer in the mini-fridge and slammed it shut angrily. "I hate this!" He shouted, kicking at the refrigerator before turning around to glare at Allie. "Of course, they're all gone, Of course! And we're kids now! You can't get alcohol when you're a kid!" Dean glared at her before plopping down on one of the beds with his arms crossed over his chest. "There's nothing to do here but wait for Bobby to get back. And I don't want to read another one of those stupid books that Sam keeps insisting we should read."
Allie tried her best to stifle a laugh at Dean's outburst. He was such a drama queen sometimes. "Just turn something on the TV. We can order a pizza online. Dean will get it. The guy won't care." She repositioned herself on the bed and took out her phone to start playing Fruit Ninja, quickly swiping her small hands over the screen.
Dean glanced over at Allie who seemed content with playing Fruit Ninja on her phone. "You're really enjoying being ten again, aren't you?" He asked curiously, noticing how relaxed she looked as she played the game. He had never had the opportunity to just relax and enjoy being a kid. Too much on the line back then. "So," he turned back towards the TV and grabbed the remote before flipping through channels until he found something that looked interesting enough to watch. "Pizza or Chinese?" He asked while pulling up the menu for one of his favorite restaurants and waiting for Sam's reply.
Allie shot Dean a glare. "Shut up! It's not just a kid's game. It's fun." She worked harder with her fingers to slice up a fruit salad. "Pizza, extra cheese— don't forget the bacon!" She knew Sam would be annoyed with it considering he was always on a health kick but she didn't care. They deserved some 'za to chill out. "Get wings too." She shifted away from Dean in an attempt to make her gaming habits more private.
Dean rolled his eyes at Allie and focused on choosing their food from the menu before placing their order and leaning back against the headboard to watch the rest of whatever show was currently playing on the TV. He was bored and couldn't focus on anything else because all he kept thinking about was the spell that the witch had put on them and how much trouble they were in now that they were physically children. "Hey Sammy," Dean turned to look at his brother who had been silent for the past ten minutes. "What do you think the witch wants? I mean, she clearly had a reason for turning us into kids but I can't figure out what it could be."
Sam gave a slight shrug as he opened his laptop to try and once again find some sort of cure for their current affliction. "Maybe the witch figures it's an easier way to deal with us. I mean… we can't do anything. Easier than having bodies found, right?"
Good point. Dean re-adjusted his pre-teen body on the bed and crossed his legs, arms folded over his chest while performing a small nod in approval. "Yeah…" Relaxing proved difficult considering Bobby was off attempting to solve the case without them.
—
"What? Rufus, I can't hear ya! Turn the radio down!" Bobby yelled into the phone with passionate annoyance. The two men got along roughly half of the time (and that was being generous) but they did work damn well together on hunts. Now that he couldn't use his friggin' legs Rufus seemed to be the best option for getting those kids out of their middle-school revisit.
It took a moment but soon the background music faded and Bobby nodded over Rufus's reply. "Yep. Kids."
"No, they don't want to stay that way."
"Rufus! Would'ya just help me?!"
"Yeah, I'll give ya' a bottle of Johnnie Walker Blue. You help me with this and hell, I'll get ya three."
Small sounds of thought before approval came from the other end and after only a few more sentences Rufus hung up. Now all they could do was wait. Someone was on it. Though, Rufus didn't exactly operate in the same way they did.
Bobby rolled around his house in thought over his surrogate sons and biological daughter while slowly sipping on a beer. Not even two hours had passed by the time his phone began to ring. Well, his personal phone. Not one of the many… undercover ones.
"Rufus?" A pause as Bobby attempted to hear. He was going to need a damn pedicure after this, that was for sure! Wait… fuckin' bum legs! Son of a bitch!
"What?" He refocused, unable to hear once again. "Wait - already?" His phone vibrated aggressively in his palm and Bobby pulled back, only to see Dean's number coming across the Caller ID. "Rufus - I'll call ya' back. My boy's callin'." A click and Bobby rubbed his face with his other hand. "Yep?"
Dean let out a breath of relief while the trio climbed into Baby. Sam was positioned in the passenger seat of the front bench while Allie took her resident spot in the backseat, slinking in and placing some headphones in her ears. Emerald eyes flashed in the rearview mirror, hands preparing to start the Impala as soon as Bobby got their update. "Bobby, it worked. Whatever you did worked."
"We're… us."
