The next day, the girls and I were still asleep when we left the camp at 7:00 am. They decided to go stop by Dunkin Donuts. We were there by 9:00 am. I like to have an iced coffee from Dunkin Donuts every so often. I decided to head out to the front with it.

"What's up?" asked Dad.

"Mind if I drink this over here?" I asked.

"Sure. There's a cup holder in front of us," said Dad.

"Oh, good," I said as I sat there.

"I wonder what part of Maine we'll be in," said Marci.

We stopped in New Hampshire for lunch.

"My plan is to stop by at our new house on the way, so we'll meet you guys at the campground," said Dad.

"Take your time," said Mr. Thomas.

Then, we continued on to Maine.

Later, in Maine, we were almost in Portland when I heard my cell phone vibrate as I answered it.

"Hello," I said.

"Hi, Mary Anne," said April.

"Oh, hey, April, I thought I'd knew your voice," I teased.

"I heard you were coming to Portland for the night," said April.

"Yes. Why?" I asked.

"I had permission to join you for the rest of the summer. I'm already packed," said April.

"Swell. We have a RV, so we'll have room for you," I said.

"Even better. I'm dying to see you, Kayla, Kaylee, Kristy, and Claudia again," said April.

"This is going to be fun," I said.

"I know," agreed April.

"We're stopping by at our new house first to bring our things and unpack there so we'd be all set," I said.

"Oh, cool. I'll meet you there," said April.

Kayla showed up. "Our parents arrived last night. Do you mind if we ask them for our help while we're there?"

"That's fine," said Dad.

When we got there, Dad, my siblings, and I brought our stuff in.

"We'll meet you guys in a bit," said Kaylee.

In there, April said, "Would you like us to help you?"

"Hi, April," I said. "That would be great."

"Sure," I replied. "We decided to do this way to give Sharon less work."

"Plus, we don't want our stuff to get lost or misplaced," said Dawn.

"Smart," said April.

"Our new house actually have more rooms than we had at our old house," said Carlos.

"It's still big for all of us including Jeff when he visits and my grandmother when she moves in," I said.

"One room have a twin bed while the rest have one bed," said Dawn.

"Carlos and I are taking that one. We already talked it out," I said.

Dawn and I did try to share one when we first became stepsisters, but it didn't work out. Things got better when we got our own rooms. We were unpacking when Kayla and Kaylee returned.

"Mom excused us from helping out while we're on vacation with your family, but we get to unpack our things for our room though," said Kayla.

"Mario still refused to share with D.J.," said Kaylee.

"I don't blame him," I said.

"He requested to move in our room again like we did, but our room is only big enough for two beds," said Kayla.

"So, M.J. says he can stay with her since it have twin beds. They get along anyway," said Kaylee.

"That works," said Carlos.

"I know," said Kayla. "That means D.J. have a room all to himself. No one else wants to bunk with him."

"I wouldn't, either," I said.

"Hi, girls," said April when she came around.

"Hi," they both said.

"Did I mention that we'll be next door neighbors?" I asked.

"No, but that is so cool," said April.

"She lives right down the street from here," I said.

"Sweet," said Kayla.

After we finished ours, Dad said, "Are you guys all set to go meet the rest at the campground?"

"Yes," I replied.

"Your friends can come to see the house tomorrow," said Dad.

"Sounds good," said Carlos.

Then, we left for the campground.

"I've been there before," said April. "I would come here every summer. It has a beach we can spend the day on tomorrow so we can just settle down after a long day from unpacking."

"Okay," said Dawn.

At the campground, Claudia and Kristy spotted April as they both came to greet her.

"Hi, April," said Kristy.

"Hi, I get to join you guys on the road trip," said April.

"Nice," said Claudia.

"We were busy unpacking all this place. Sharon got the rest of the stuff. April was helping us," I said.

We went out to eat in town.

"Since we're out, we can show them the house so we can spend the day on the beach tomorrow," said Dad.

"Okay," said Dawn.

"We'll do that after we eat," said Mr. Thomas.

After dinner, they saw the house.

"Wow. That's a nice one you have," said Kristy.

"I know," said Dawn.

At the campground, I was getting tired after a long day from unpacking. I changed at 8:00 pm and went to bed by 9:30 pm.

The next day, we put our bathing suits on and we all went down to the beach. I already put some sunblock.

"We plan to have a picnic here," said Dawn.

"And, our dads are letting us spend the day here for as long we like, but they want us to go back by 5:00 pm for dinner," said Kristy.

"Okay," said April.

We had a picnic at noon for lunch. I have an idea.

"Do you know what? I wonder if we could use this campground for a BSC camp next summer," I said. "We can provide a bus for the kids to spend the summer here up to August."

"That would be a fun idea," said April.

"We can ask someone next year," said Kayla.

"I don't see why not," said Kristy.

"And, when the sign ups get closer, we'll mention that," said Claudia.

"The kids can spend the day on the beach on the sunny days like this," said Stacey.

We spoke like this day. We decided to go back to the RV by 3:00 pm so we can change and cool down for a bit until supper. Then, I started to feel hot all of sudden.

"Why am I so hot?" I asked myself.

I was wearing short sleeves and shorts, so I don't understand why I'm hot. Luckily, we made some lemonade and I drank some. I realized Claudia was giving me a strange look.

"What?" I asked.

"Why is your face all red?" asked Claudia.

That was when I noticed my face was sunburned. No wonder why I was hot.

"Sunburn? I used sunblock and I was supposed to have tan," I said.

I was still feeling hot.

"Can we have the air conditioner on? The sunburn is causing me to feel hot all over," I said.

"Or you can use ice on you," suggested Kristy. "No one else is hot."

"It's almost time for dinner anyway," said April.

"Oh, good," I said.

Outside wasn't doing me any good because I was too hot to be there. I also had my visor on. After dinner, I had ice cream to cool me down.

"Your face is red," said Dad.

"It's sunburn. The funny part was that I had sunblock on," I said. "That's what making me hot."

"Perhaps a cold shower can help you out," said Dad.

"That sounds like a good plan," I said.

I did, but sunburn remained on me. At least it helped me out a bit. It was a cool evening.

"I'll be out there for awhile to keep me cool," I said.

"Okay," said Dad.

That's what I did and I felt better after that. We didn't go to bed until pretty late, which was almost 10:30 pm.
